Hello everyone! Its Colt45! I am glad to announce that MaNGOS Rev 6245 has been release (finally)! I am terribly sorry to inform you that I do not have a list of new feature that have been added to this release, but I should have a complete one for the next release. So here is the guide:
THIS GUIDE HAS BEEN BASED OFF OF OATMAN’S LAST GUIDE, PLEASE GIVE THE CREDIT TO HIM FOR THE GUIDE!!!
Step 1: Install MySQL using the guide here >>> (MySQL Installation and Configuration)
NOTE: It does NOTmatter which verion of MySQL you get (either 5.0 or 5.1) as long as you do not get any older versions or beta versions!
I think most of you who are running Linux already knew that you can set up a caching nameserver on your home computer in order to speed up dns queries (a proper word for this is forwarding caching resolver according to Necromancer at the comment below). But what if you’re on Windows and want to achieve the same thing (cache dns request)? Well thanks to BIND port for Windows, now you can also set up your own DNS Server on Windows easily
And to make things short, let’s get straight to the point ;)
1. First you’ll need to grab Bind from the ISC homepage (grab the Windows version of course), and at the time i wrote this, the latest Bind / Named version is 9.5.0–P1
2. When you’ve finished downloading BIND, now just you need to extract it somewhere on your harddrive and then followed by running BINDInstall.exe to install BIND. But first as a note, in this example i choose to Install BIND into C:\BIND
This is Oatman here and I am wondering if the community would be interested on Wrath of the Lich King? I’ve done some research and I believe that under some work I could get a MaNGOS WotLK 3.0.1 Revision Released. So you all could try out the new Death Knight class and be able to explore the new continent of Northrend.
Yes this would take some work, but I’d be more than willing to work on a Reaper-X WotLK Beta MaNGOS Revision if enough of the community wants this to happen.
List of What Reaper-X WotLK Alpha Would Contain:
Today I just finished porting a wonderful css template created by Gerhard from http://1234.info called MultiFlex-5 to be used as BBPress theme. And because Gerhard (the MultiFlex Author) allow me to release to ported version of MultiFlex to BBPress Community, i decided to release it to the public. And hopefully you’ll like this theme :)
And as a side note, this theme is based from the default theme for BBPress and that is Kakumei, so full credits should be given to the author of Kakumei and author of MultiFlex-5 by creating such wonderful theme / css template
Please check the updated guide on how to compile mangos on windows instead. Which is using GIT because mangos has switched to GIT
Based on the number of emails i’ve received it seems that many people want to learn on how to compile mangos by themself. And of course compiling mangos by yourself is a must especially if you want to have the latest update for your mangos server (beside if you want to run your own public server you should know this first) and so i decided that perhaps it’d be better for me to create a guide on how to compile mangos manually so you can always get your mangos installation up to date
As a side note, actually this guide has been requested since a loooong time ago, but since i already have Microsoft Visual Studio Professional Edition already installed and downloading Microsoft Visual Studio Express is going to take a while for my slow connection, i decided to postpone it. Also as another note, this guide was made on a fresh installation of Windows XP SP3 without any other programs installed other than visual studio express and tortoise svn, which means that if it works on a freshly installed machine without any additional runtime installed, then on a live computer it should work too (unless your windows system files got corrupted of course)
And so here are the steps ..
