Another WoW Mangos Release time … basically this release is to those who’s prefer to stick with their WoW 2.2 Client and not planning on reverting to the previous 2.1.3 patch. And i’ve only done a small modification so that it’ll accept the 2.1.3 and 2.2 client only. But as a note, 2.2 is still not officially supported yet by the Mangos team (and i don’t know when it’ll be fully supported). So if you found any errors message when used on 2.2 client you just need to be patience :P
As an addition, from this release i’ve decided to stick with only 1 release that contain the full database dump (because of my slow connection), but to those who’s already using my previous wow mangos 4488 and mangos 4505 compilation, you don’t need to worry about it because you can also upgrade from your previous version without problem ;)
It seems some people have been asking on how to revert their wow installation to the previous patch (in this case into 2.1.3 from 2.2 patch), and still haven’t found the exact answer to their question and so that’s why i’m going to write a short how to revert your wow patch
For the past few days i’ve seen various support topics at WordPress.org support forums and it’s all thanks to the new release of WordPress 2.3 that introduces new database schema changes (and that’s why most of the questions asked is related to the database error message)
While personally i do not have any problems when upgrading WordPress, but i thought it’d be best to share these tips especially to those who want the easiest way to upgrade their wordpress installation even when you’re going to upgrade to another major version (such as from 2.0 to 2.1, 2.2 to 2.3, etc)
And here are the tips :
Ever want to redirect your site visitors to a temporary maintenace page while you’re doing some maintenance behind the scene, but you don’t know how?.
The answer to that problem is simple, as long as you have access to edit your .htaccess file (some web hosting company doesn’t allow you to edit the .htaccess file, and that’s why i tell you beforehand) :)
And here are the complete instruction :
1. Create a new html page saying that this site under maintenance or anything you like :) , and save it as maintenance.html (this is just an example, feel free to use another filename)
2. Edit your .htaccess file in your root public_html directory
I just uploaded another update to WoW Mangos Emulator, this time i’m using Mangos Revision 4505 plus ScriptDev2 Rev136 and with Project Silvermoon Mangos Database Revision 18. Other than that i also create a small batch script to help you simplify the upgrade process if you’re using my previous Mangos 4488 files, thought i’m quite sure that you can also use it even if you are not using my Mangos 4488 :)
Update: Please see the new post about Installing Apache, PHP, MySQL on Windows XP (for XP users) or Installing Apache, PHP, MySQL on Windows Vista or Windows 7 (for Vista and 7 users) for a better and more detail guide
Previously i wrote a how to guide on installing Apache 1.3 on Windows machine. But it seems that some people prefer to use the new Apache 2.2 series instead of the old httpd 1.3 series which is not good when used on production system (read: if you allow anyone to access your webserver), beside the apache website itself tell you this :
the older 1.3 series was never designed to run on Windows, but that support was ‘hacked in’, introducing a large number of potential thread saftey issues and other confirmed problems.
And that’s why i choose to create the apache guide again but this time it is using the 2.2 series, and of course this guide tell you on how to setup your apache server with php 5 manually not using an all in one package. And here’s the guide :
I just don’t understand … how come i’m as the owner of this blog / website get marked as spam whenever i tried to reply to the comment(s) posted by this site visitors …
Another case is … when i’m trying to test posting a comment to my own local server which is obviously can’t be accessed by anyone, by simply using Test as nickname, with firstname.lastname@example.org as it’s email address and http://test.com as the url address .. it’s still being marked as spam ! and with 192.168.3.1 as it’s ip address !

I just compiled another Mangos revision and this time it is using Mangos SVN Revision 4488 with ScriptDev2 revision 134 (it’s clean compile without any other patch). As a note, i only tested on my own computer using World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade 2.1.3 enUS client, so if you’re using other client version i don’t know if it’s going to work or not with your wow tbc
The first file is to those who’s already have Mangos database installed and already configured, and don’t want to start all over again (i assume you already know on how to upgrade your mangos database) :) … so all you have to do is just importing the mangos core updates and the scriptdev2 sql into your database and you’re finished
