Jean if you just upgraded to mysql 5.1 (i assume you’re upgrading from 5.0) .. did you create a full dump of your entire mysql database and then reimport the sql dump into your new mysql server?

or … did you use the same data location for your mysql server?

because that error message basically saying that you didn’t use the correct password for your mysql root username :)

I’ve upgraded MySQL to 5.1, and now with this version of mangos. Thing is, it wont let me connect to MySQL giving me this error :

World database : 127.0.0.1;3306;root;mangos;mangos
Could not connect To MySQL database at 127.0.0.1 : Acces denied for user ‘root’ @ ‘localhost’ (using password : yes)

Hey thanks for mentioning about the database too (to be honest i completely forgot about it) but i think it’d be better if i write it into a separate guide (for example rewriting the how to setup mangos manually and put the database into that one) :)

You need to get ACID 0.0.2 from scriptdev2 website.
Just use SVN like normal on a folder called ACID or w/e you want. and checkout to
https://sd2-acid.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/sd2-acid/

then put the proved SQL’s into your database.
that should do it.

ok I got the mangosd to run but now Im getting an error that none of my maps are found, also realmd is not working, still getting a ‘cannot find database’ in it. I have 2.4.2 so where should I have the maps at and how do i do config mangos to find them?

I’ve been a fan of the Reaper-X Repack and have started compiling Mangos and Scriptdev2 on my own in the past few weeks. It was nice to see this post as it is very similar to the method I have been using with the added bonus of “how to add patches” (which I have yet to do).

One thing that still plagues me is the Opera event. In my compiles with Scriptdev2, I seem to be missing something. The announcer changes into his tux and then never walks in the other room. Do the mobs need to be spawned in the database first? I know that in the most recent Reaper-X Repack, this event was semi-working. Much better than my own, anyway. Even using the latest UDB and scriptdev2 database patches doesn’t seem to be enough.

My next plan is to set the Reaper-X database beside mine and try to compare the tables relating to the event, but before I rack my brain with that, I thought I would ask, while we were on the “how-to” subject. I guess there is a small chance the event is broken in current builds, but I haven’t seen any posts to suggest that.

Thanks a lot reaper. The Guide on mangosproject doesn’t explain it as good as you did. This really helped me out. But it would be nice to put in where they can get the databases from, like UDB or PSDB. at least put in the SVN directories.

Thanks for the Heads-up on the dbc/vmaps/maps thingy=) no, my password is not mangos. ive written the location of the files in the mangosd.conf file now, and im installing a new database, so lets see what happens:P
