Oatmans’ Wrath of the Lich King Release! Revision:1

Well its finally here! Sorry that it took me about two months to finally get around to making it but our first Wrath of the Lich King Server is now here and supports Revision: 8788 of the WotLK Beta Client! This release operates on top of the MaNGOS Kernel using the UDB Database. With about 3,585 lines of code added into the MaNGOS Core Wrath of the Lich King is now officially supported into the Reaper-X Family and Discussion Board!

Installation Instruction:

1. Run Oatmans' WotLK Installer.bat from Oatman’s WotLK Database directory and continue with the installation until finished
2. Edit Mangosd.conf and Realmd.conf especially at below parts to point to the correct database name using your mysql password and username:

Note:

– Replace wotlk_usr to your mysql username
– Replace mangos to your mysql password
– Replace wotlk_realmd, wotlk_world, wotlk_characters to point to the correct database name that is used on the installation process
– Replace Datadir to the full path of your extracted DBC files and maps files from WOTLK (if you put the dbc directory and maps in the same directory of mangos, then there’s no need for you to change it)

Other Notes (thanks to LoLz Guy):

#1 To run mangos.exe you have to edit mangos.conf and delete some spaces (if there are too many) or other things that dont fit there...

#2 To make your databases work you have to use a mysql gui program (like navicat or sqlyog) and execute batch files to characters and realmd tabs.

#3 To make a Death Knight you have to manually edit the database (using navicat sqlyog or sometjing like that) and in the realmd in account table change your accounts "tbc" thingie from 0 to 2 or from 1 to 2 (I couldn't do it in mangos.exe commands, as it was blocked or something).

BTW the Death Knight class starts at the race start place, has no abilities, and there is NO WOTLK CONTENT AT ALL...

Important Note from Oatman:

Currently this repack doesn’t have any NPC's on Northrend although he (Oatman) said that he’ll add NPC’s later on the next revision (Revision 2) and probably some other things as well :) … and as he said before on the comment area, he is currently busy with various things as well and so he sent me the download link yesterday via email

Mangos 4535 ScriptDev2 137 work with WoW 2.1.3, 2.2, and 2.2.2

I just noticed today that patch 2.2.2 has been released … and so that’s why i’ve decided to upload another release of WoW Mangos for WoW 2.2.2 but for optimal result you should use it on 2.1.3 though since 2.2 and 2.2.2 just gets released this week, so it’s not fully supported yet … but i’ve decided to upload this eventhough i just released 4524 few days ago …

Although i don’t see any problem at all (but that’s because of my lack knowledge about World of Warcraft itself) … but … at least the mangosd.exe process is not crash :P and it is still running in the background normally. As another note, since the only files changed in 2.2+ is just the DBC files, i’ve included the DBC files to make thing easier for you … and all you have to do is just extract the VMaps and Maps files and then configure the datadir, and lastly you just need to import the database

But i think it’d be better if i list the steps :)

UPDATE : If you just recently upgraded into WoW 2.2.3 … please check my new Mangos 4577, Scriptdev2 140 and with Project Silvermoon and Unified Database included ;)

Requirements :

Reaper-X Mangos Batch File update – Overwrite the old / included reaper-x-mangos.bat inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory from the above link with this one, this update fix the problem where the rate changer is not properly written :)

Upgrading from previous Mangos 4488, 4505, and 4525 release :

Note : Look for my previous post for MySQL Installation guide, because i assume you’ve done installing and configuring mysql ;)

1. Copy the dbc files included overwriting previously extracted DBC Files

2. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory, and choose to backup your character first

3. Then choose Installation / Upgrade … and wait until finished

4. Now choose the Restore option to restore your precious character data

5. Choose the option to adjust the datadir, and configure the exp rate, etc …

6. Now you need to go into your World of Warcraft installation directory, and then delete the Cache directory there and then run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe you’re done

Optional : Since this 4535 release, i’ve modified the batch script so to those who want to change their realm name can do it using the menu provided instead of executing the sql queries manually :)

Fresh Installation :

1. Copy all files from MapExtractor directory and VMaps Extractor and Assembler into your World of Warcraft Installation directory and then run extract-map.bat first and wait until it’s finished, after finished now you need to run the makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat and wait until Press Any Key To Continue Message appear (that mean you’ve finished extracting the VMaps) … before that message appear don’t close that window (don’t worry it’ll took a while to finish this process) :)

2. After finished with the previous steps, now you just need to move the VMaps and Maps directory which is created automatically from the previous step into the same directory as your DBC Directory

3. Now you just need to follow the upgrade process, because the next steps is just the same like the Upgrading process with the exception if you’re doing a fresh install, you don’t need to perform backup first

Another note : WoW 2.2 and 2.2.2 still not fully supported by Mangos, so if you found any errors message when used on WoW 2.2, or 2.2.2 … you just need to wait until the Mangos team has released the fully compatible … this is just a quick and dirty way so you can play on WoW 2.2.2 which is just released today

Frequently Asked Questions about WoW Mangos Error Message

Since there still many people who still having problem with their Mangos Server, based from the number of comments i received so far on this site. I’ll try my best to explain what all those error messages means, so here goes the lists

Note : If you’re using older mangos release, i’d suggest you to upgrade first because i won’t be able to answer your question if you’re using a historic release or old release. And currently this is based on my latest 4524 (if you’re using my previous 4488, or 4505 release … try to upgrade first because in 4524 i’ve already created an even easier batch script so you don’t really need to know about varios MySQL Queries command)

As a side note, if you’re running World of Warcraft TBC version below 2.1.3, i can’t give you any support on this … unless you’ve upgraded your WoW Client into 2.1.3 or 2.2

1. The most frequently asked question is 04331.map not exist error message so mangos can’t be started ?

The answer to that question is … did you run the extract-map.bat from your World of Warcraft Installation Directory ? and if so … did you wait until the process finished completely without interrupting it. And it’ll take a while to extract all maps completely but that’s depend on your computer specs. It took 6 minutes for the process to finished completely on my computer, and oh … i’ve done the extraction process for about 5 times or more, and i can locate the 0004331.map just fine by using Windows Search Function which mean the extraction process is successful

If you’re sure you can locate the 0004331.map using your Windows Search Function, try looking at the datadir section of your mangosd.conf (if you’re using my 4524 release you can just use the reaper-x-mangos.bat to edit the datadir) or you can edit it by yourself using Notepad / Wordpad or other text editor and make sure the datadir point to where you put the Maps, DBC and VMaps directory

For example if you put like on below image for example ( I:\WoW\Data )

You should write DataDir = “I:\WoW\data” as your datadir (with quotes and don’t copy paste from here because this software automatically transform quotes into curly quotes)

Also DataDir = “I:\WoW\data” or DataDir = “I:/WoW/data” is just the same, i can use them both without problem, although on some system you should use backslash (“/”) from various response

2. Could not find 001_33_39.vmdir or other vmdir related error message ?

Did you copy all files inside Tools\VmapExtractAssembler into your WoW installation directory ? and then run the makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat and wait until the process finished without interrupting it ? and one more thing :

if you see vmap_assembler.exe buildings vmaps splitConfig.txt displayed on the command prompt screen, you just need to wait until you can Press Any Key To Continue message appear on your screen

3. ERROR:Could not connect to MySQL database at 127.0.0.1 ?

That error message mean, you haven’t started the MySQL process yet … did you follow my previous guide on how to install MySQL ? and another thing to keep in mind that you need Administrator Privilege in order to do that, and if you still get error message saying can’t bind or something. Make sure that :

There’s no mysql process running in background, to check it open the task manager and then look for mysql under the process list tab. This thing can happen if you previously using repack that include mysql into their repack

4. Could not locate locale-enUS.MPQ, patch-enUS-2.MPQ, or other enUS-MPQ related error ?

That mean you’re using different WoW version, you just need to edit extract.bat inside the DBC Extractor directory like below :

mpqe /d "." locale-enUS.MPQ *.dbc
mpqe /d "." patch-enUS.MPQ *.dbc
mpqe /d "." patch-enUS-2.MPQ *.dbc

Into the correct MPQ filename, for example locale-enGB.MPQ

And another note, you’ll need .NET Runtime 2 in order to run the DBC Extractor

5. Friends could not connect from LAN or stuck in realm loop ?

Make sure you’ve change the realmd.realmlist ip address into your lan Address, and if you’re currently have mangos running close it first before adjusting it into your IP Address

Because some people keep having problem with changing the ip address into their lan ip address, i’ve created the batch script in my 4524 release so you just need to write your LAN IP address when asked (by choosing the LAN option from the menu first of course) … that’s it

But if you don’t know what is your lan ip address … i can’t help you with that

WoW Mangos 4524 modified to work with WoW 2.1.3 and 2.2

Another WoW Mangos Release time … basically this release is to those who’s prefer to stick with their WoW 2.2 Client and not planning on reverting to the previous 2.1.3 patch. And i’ve only done a small modification so that it’ll accept the 2.1.3 and 2.2 client only. But as a note, 2.2 is still not officially supported yet by the Mangos team (and i don’t know when it’ll be fully supported). So if you found any errors message when used on 2.2 client you just need to be patience :P

As an addition, from this release i’ve decided to stick with only 1 release that contain the full database dump (because of my slow connection), but to those who’s already using my previous wow mangos 4488 and mangos 4505 compilation, you don’t need to worry about it because you can also upgrade from your previous version without problem ;)

One more thing, the batch files i’ve created is only tested on Windows XP SP2 … i haven’t tried it on Vista yet, so to those who’s running Vista perhaps could give it a test and tell me is it working for Vista too or not :)

Update : If you’ve just upgraded into 2.2.2 recently, and not planning on reverting your wow installation to 2.1.3 or 2.2 … you can try my new Mangos 4535 Release (ScriptDev2 137, extracted DBC from WoW 2.2.2)

Okay … and here are the steps to use it :

Requirements :

1. MySQL : Look at my previous post more info about installing mysql

2. .NET Runtime 2 or other files that is related to your system (if you get error message saying that MSVCx.dll can’t be found or missing runtime … you just need to go to Microsoft website to download it … although this is a rare case but it seems that some people experiencing this issue)

Upgrading from Previous Version :

1. Extract the archive somewhere in your harddisk for example C:\reaper-mangos-R4524 and then go to reaper-eazy-mangos directory

2. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat and choose the option to backup your data and wait until the process finished

3. After finished with the backup process, then you’ll be at the menu screen once again … and this time you just need to choose Installation from the menu … and wait

4. Now you just need to choose Restore, to restore your character data …

5. Now for the last step … you just need to choose the Mangos Config Editor from the menu and adjust it accordingly (especially at the datadir to point to the previous data directory location) … and you’re done

Fresh WoW Mangos Install :

Note : All tools located in tools directory

1. Copy all files inside the MapExtractor Directory into C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft (this is the default installation path for World of Warcraft) and then run the extract-map.bat

2. Copy all files inside VmapExtractAssembler into C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft and run makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat … and wait again until it finished

3. Copy all files inside DBC Extractor into C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS … and run the extract.bat … and wait until it finished

Note : in order to use DBC Extractor you’ll need to have Microsoft .NET 2 Runtime (search the microsoft website for it)

4. Move vmaps, maps, and dbc folder from your World of Warcraft game directory into C:\reaper-mangos-R4524\data (create folder named data first)

the rest is just the same like the upgrade process with the exception, you don’t need to choose to backup or restore your data

And after finished everything as specified in the upgrade process, you just need to run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe and add your own username by typing create blabla blabla as shown on below image :)

As a bonus, i’ve also added a realmlist ip changer (in the menu) so those who’s having problem with configuring their realmlist to be accessible from LAN, can use it to make things easier ;)

Special Note to WoW 2.2 Users :

If you previously haven’t extracted the DBC files, maps and vmaps files from your WoW 2.1.3 client, and you get an error message saying that Patch-enUS-2.MPQ can’t be found … you can just safely ignore that error message

I’ve tested the 2.2 Client with this modified 4524 Mangos and everything seems to work fine (but perhaps that’s just me since i never played on official server) except that you’ll see lots of message on your mangosd window

And of course that’s because 2.2 is still not supported yet by Mangos … but to those who’s running wow 2.1.3 all i can say is … everything seems to be good and you won’t see message that’s only get shown when running the WoW 2.2 client ;)

How to revert to previous WoW Patch

It seems some people have been asking on how to revert their wow installation to the previous patch (in this case into 2.1.3 from 2.2 patch), and still haven’t found the exact answer to their question and so that’s why i’m going to write a short how to revert your wow patch

Requirements :

1. Repair.exe in your WoW Installation Directory

2. A working internet connection

3. Individual patch for each update you’re going to apply (like below image for an example) …

4. Ability to delete or rename files :P

Here are the steps :

1. Rename wow.exe inside your World of Warcraft Installation Directory into something else (like wowowow.exe)

2. Run the repair.exe and let it do the job to check your WoW Installation for corrupted files

3. After finished checking, it’ll find that there’s something missing from your WoW installation and then it’ll download the missing file automatically and in my case because i want to revert from 2.2 into 2.1.3, it’ll automatically revert to 2.0.0

4. Now to make sure that our wow version already reverted into 2.0.0, you just need to run the wow.exe (not the launcher or the pop up screen) and see the version number at the bottom left of your screen

5. Okay since we’ve reverted to 2.0.0 and want to get back on using 2.1.3, all we have to do is just running the individual update patch manually from 2.0.0 into 2.1.3 (see the above image), and don’t forget to press escape immediately when the wow launcher screen pop-up to cancel the launcher from updating your wow installation automatically

6. After finished patching your wow into 2.1.3 again now you need to run the wow.exe again to make sure that you’re already back into using the previous 2.1.3 installation … then exit from wow

7. You’re done ;)

Things to note :

It seems that World of Warcraft love changing your wow shortcut (even if you created it by yourself) on your desktop if you just upgraded your wow patch. And in my case, i have two shortcut located on my desktop :

The first one is the World of Warcraft launcher, while the second is to run the wow.exe directly … and guess what ? after i’ve installed the 2.2 patch the second shortcut that previously point to wow.exe directly got changed by WoW automatically so it’s pointing to the launcher instead

So … your best bet is … to run the WoW.exe directly from your World of Warcraft installation directory to prevent wow from automatically patching your game

Note : Actually since i'm still using a slow connection it doesn’t really a big deal for me because i can cancel the update process from the launcher anytime i want … but to those who’s using a fast connection, i know your pain very well (i guess slow connection is not that bad at all) :P

WoW Mangos 4505, ScriptDev2 136 with Project Silvermoon Rev18

I just uploaded another update to WoW Mangos Emulator, this time i’m using Mangos Revision 4505 plus ScriptDev2 Rev136 and with Project Silvermoon Mangos Database Revision 18. Other than that i also create a small batch script to help you simplify the upgrade process if you’re using my previous Mangos 4488 files, thought i’m quite sure that you can also use it even if you are not using my Mangos 4488 :)

UPDATE : I just uploaded a new Modified version of WoW Mangos 4524 for WoW 2.2 client and WoW 2.1.3 Client … and also i’ve changed the batch script to make things even easier especially to those who’s still having problem with Mangos 4505 and 4488 ;)

UPDATE : Many thanks to Caldaga for telling me that i forgot to include the VMaps Extractor and Assembler into this 4505 Release (although it’s included in my previous 4488 release). So if you’re using this 4505 release (small version or full version) … make sure to download the VMaps Extractor and Assembler too (no wonder there’re some people who’s experiencing VMaps related error message)

As a side note, VMaps is different than Maps. Maps are required for WoW Mangos to work, while VMaps not required except that you want support for line of sight and height calculation (but i’d suggest you to use it too)

And just like before, i uploaded two version of my mangos release. The first version is to those who’s already have Mangos installed and configured, and / or already using another database (SDB for an example). Already familiar with importing each mangos core update manually, and so on … Or it might also be useful to those who’s using slow connection like me and prefer a smaller file size to download

Inside the small version you can find DBC, Maps and VMaps extractor, and also a batch file inside the Backup Directory just in case you want to Backup your important Mangos Character Data or the Realmd table and data

If you’re using my previous Mangos 4488 release, and are not familiar with importing the core update manually, i’d suggest you to get the second version instead :)

As a note, i created the batch script inside to help simplify the upgrade process from Mangos 4488 to Mangos 4505 to those who download my previous full database / without db which mean that it has been tested only with Mangos 4488 only (if you’re using lower version it might or might not work for you) … and i only tested it on Windows XP SP2

And here are the instruction to those who’s going to use the Full Database version :

If you’re upgrading from my previous Mangos 4488 :

1. Extract the archive somewhere in your harddisk, for example C:\reaper-mangos-R4505-full

5. Now go back C:\reaper-mangos-R4505-full\Backup and this time you need to run the backup-importer.bat file, and continue the process like before until it finished

6. Now for the last step, you just need to open mangosd.conf and edit the datadir path into the correct datadir path … that’s it … you’re done :)

If you’re installing for the first time (some part copied from my previous wow mangos 4488 guide) :P

1. Copy the ad.exe from MapExtractor Directory into C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft

2. Create new folder called maps, and then run the ad.exe … and wait until this process finished (don’t interrupt it)

3. Copy all files inside VmapExtractAssembler into C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft and run the makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat … and wait again until it finished

4. Copy all files inside DBC Extractor into C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS … and run the extract.bat … and wait until it finished

5. Move vmaps, maps, and dbc folder from your World of Warcraft installation path into C:\reaper-mangos-R4505-full\data (create folder named data first)

6. Open Mangosd.conf using Wordpad … and then find this line :

DataDir = "I:/WoW/Data"

Change it to :

"C:/reaper-mangos-R4505-full/data" (include the quotes)

7. Go to C:\reaper-mangos-R4505-full\reaper-eazy-mangos and then run the import.bat

8. Open realmlist.wtf file from C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft using Notepad and change the :

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

into

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

11. Run Mangosd.exe and Realmd.exe (and keep it running)

12. At the Mangosd window type these :

create MyUsername MyPassword

setgm MyUsername 3

to create a test user with MyUsername as username and MyPassword as password, see below image for an example :

13. Now run the WoW.exe from your World of Warcraft Game Directory, for example C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe (not the launcher)

and you’re done :)

Note to those who’s changing the database name : If you changed the database name from the default name, you’ll also need to change the db name manually in the backup-importer.bat, and import.bat … i’ll add it for the next release as for now … you need to do it manually (i’m sorry, i completely forgot about it … perhaps that’s because i haven’t sleep since yesterday and too tired to think … beside it’s already morning here lol)

Looking for another free MMORPG that has good community (this is the most important thing for me, and i usually quit playing MMO because of this reason especially if the community isn’t friendly), not to expensive ingame prices (although this has changed now), easy to level, easy to make money, etc and it’s in Official Server not Private Server ? Then you should try playing Trickster Online because so far this is my favorite MMORPG …

Although to be honest, i didn’t really like the Drilling part … (at first i love drilling but later when you need to get specific items that is only available to get via drilling, you’ll know why). And as for My Camp, and Card Battle … i can’t say anything about it since i haven’t tried using that features yet until now

But my favorite part in Trickster Game is it’s party function, because you can get x2.5 Experience if you managed to get or create Special / Royal party (shared with your party members or individual)

Other than that, i also like on how you can use all weapons / armor for all characters (unless it’s specific for each character)

And now here’s the list of the characters that is available for you to choose in Trickster :

Buffalo & Bunny = Power type
Sheep & Dragon = Magic type
Fox & Lion = Sense type
Cat & Raccoon = Charm Type

Creating Public Server for LAN Party - Setting up Private WoW Server

This is the third part of the Creating your own World of Warcraft Server using Mangos

The First part is all about Installing and Configuring MySQL on your Windows Machine
The Second part is about Configuring the WoW Mangos itself
The Third part is all about Setting up Private WOW Server for Lan Party
The Fourth part is all about Installing and Setting up Apache Webserver with PHP

Okay … after taking a break for few days now i’m going to continue with the complete mangos configuration guide. And in this topic i’m going to tell you how to create public server … erm … i mean private server for lan party purpose (if you intend to create public server using mangos, that means you’re violating the mangos license agreement)

and to make thing shorter … let’s start the guide ;)

Requirements :

Working Mangos installation (really important)
Knowledge on how to set up port forwarding from your router and your firewall software if installed, because each router have different configuration page (required if you’re going to host WoW Server behind router)

Note :

In this example the wow server process is located at virtual machine using 192.168.3.3 as the LAN IP Address
Im connecting from another virtual machine to that ip address
Mangos and realmd process must not be started first
This process can be used for both WoW Mangos TBC Server or Classic Server

Here’s the summary of the process on how you’re going to do it :

Change the realmd.realmlist (realmlist table in realmd database) into your lan ip address or public ip address
Set the realmlist.wtf to use that lan ip address
Optional : If you’re going to host your wow server behind the router then you’ll need to set up port forwarding for port 8085 (World Server) and 3724 (Realmd). But if you have firewall software installed on your computer then you’d need to configure your firewall to allow connection to that port

Setting up WoW Server for LAN / Local Area Network :

First of all you need to know what is your lan ip address, especially if you’re using DHCP to automatically assign your ip address, and to do this first you need to open the command prompt window

Start Menu => Run => Type CMD

then type ipconfig like example below :

From the above image you can see that the ip address used was 192.168.3.3 so you’ll need to set up your realmlist to use that ip address so here’s how to use it :

Open command prompt window or you can also use the same command prompt window from before
type below command (image) :

Note : Don’t forget to adjust the 192.168.3.3 to use your lan ip address because i'm sure your lan ip address is different

And now we need to make sure that it is get properly written into the database so here's how to check it

After done with the above process, now you just need to set your realmlist.wtf file in your WoW Game Directory (for example, C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\realmlist.wtf) to use that ip address … and you’re done then the next step would be starting the mangos process and realmd process, and try connecting to your wow server from other computer in your network

Setting up for Internet / Accessible from anywhere :

Basically there are no actual differences between configuring wow to be accessible from LAN except :

You need to use your public ip address instead of your lan ip address (you can see your public ip by visiting whatismyip.com)
You need to configure your router to forward port 3724 and 8085 (and no don’t forward the port used by MySQL, because previously someone port forward the mysql port too)
If you use firewall, allow connection to your computer on port 3724 and 8085 too

Note : If you’re having problem on port forwarding / do not understand how port forwarding works, then i suggest you to visit this page

But what if you ran the realmd and mangos server on the same computer and you’re trying to connect to it (connect to the same computer where mangos and realmd process started) ? and yes i'm sure you want to play using this method if you only have 1 computer in your home like me

Then you need to follow this step :

Look at your public ip from whatismyip.com and make a note of your public ip address

Sign up with Dynamic DNS service such as No-Ip.com , Dyndns.com or sitelutions.com and set up your desired dns name to your public ip address
Use the newly created DNS name as the address for realmd.realmlist instead of your public ip address (using the same sql command on example above)
Look at your lan ip address using the above example
Open C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts using notepad or your favorite text editor
add new lines using below format at the bottom of the hosts file

your-lan-ip-address your-newly-created-dns-name

save it
adjust the realmlist.wtf to use your newly created dns name
set up port forwarding
and you’re done :)

Please note, only invite trusted people to your wow server (for example your friends only) and do not attempt to create real public server unless you really know what you’re doing ;)

Well … that’s all about it … and at this time you should be able to get your friends to play on your server … unfortunately you still need to add your friends account manually which is not good for LAN Party Server

So for the next part i’m going to tell you how to set up webserver with php on your computer so your friends can register account easily ;)

Bored ? then try playing Pirates King Online or Tales of Pirates MMORPG

My friend introduces me to this free MMORPG games a week ago if i remembered it correctly, after not playing MMORPG (online not offline) :P for more than 4 years (the last time i played MMORPG is Ragnarok Online 3 years ago, and quitted before the sakray or turtle dungeon was released) … but let’s keep that aside shall we ?

First of all here’s some description about this game taken from the Tales of Pirates Website :

Tales of Pirates is a fully 3D designed multiplayer online game based on 5000 years of background history with Piracy as its central theme. It is comical in nature and has humorous looking characters and creatures. The game is painted in bright and beautiful colors. The exaggerated movements and actions of characters as well as objects, topped with an atmosphere that is overall relaxed, the game makes it always interesting and fresh for new and old players alike. There are also different styles, themes and architecture for the different towns, islands and dungeons. The multitude of elements designed captivates players and keeps them immersed while they explore all different possibilities available in game.

But i do not think anyone are going to read that, right ? i’m sure most MMORPG Players just want to download the game client after heard it from their friends, then continue to register step and play without reading the game intro any further :P

Pirates King Online (PKO) or Tales of Pirates (TOP) basically is just the same like any other MMORPG which means :

You choose your character class / job
Click on monster and wait until the monster die
Collecting some rare equipments or cute equipment to show off
Leveling your character to reach the max level

But if all MMORPG offers the same features, i’m sure no one are going to play it no matter what … and that means in this game there’re some new features i havent seen before like :

Building your own ship and use it to go to someplace (i do not know much about this for now, because my ship still at level 1) :P
Getting life skills like woodcutting, salvage, repair, etc which is different from the skill point (btw i think World of Warcraft also have this features)
World Chat which means you can chat to anyone on the server you choose at the beginning of the game

I know post about MMORPG can be considered incomplete without a screenshot, so here goes the screenshot ;)

This one taken at Argent City (the largest city) when i play in Pirates King Online Server

People trying to get good items from fortune tree (i never tried this one since i havent learned the woodcutting skill yet)

While this one is my ship (rarely use it and just recently bought it)

And if you ask me what are the differences between TOP and PKO … the answer is nothing with the exception Tales of Pirates server is located in United States while Pirates King Online server is located in Singapore (which is the closest to my country)

At first i played this game on US Server on Pinguin isle (until level 30), unfortunately because of the lag problem (can’t even move my char) i decided to download the PKO client and choose to play on Singapore server (Engine server, until now)

So If you’re bored and looking for something to do, then i’d suggest you to try this game too. Also you don’t need to worry because this game is a forever free MMORPG. Although if you want to looks really cool in game you’ll need to buy something from their item mall … and in the end … i just want to invite you to play this game too :P

Creating WoW Private Server the easier way (perhaps)

Update : You can browse this site software category if you’re looking for my mangos release or my custom mangos release … btw i’d suggest you to get my mangos release first because it has been tested with WoW 2.2.3 and will be updated frequently (even easier than anything written on this old post because i already include everything you need to run your own wow private server except for mysql program of course)

Maybe my previous post about creating WoW private server is a little bit confusing for some people and that’s why i create another post on how to set up world of warcraft private server once again but this time … i promise it is not going to be confusing like before :D … and actually i should be thanking everyone who put comments on my previous post, because of their comments i was able to get new topics for my blog … hahaha

Okay and that’s all on the introduction part … now let’s start the guide, but before that please keep this in mind, this guide tested with 1.12.1 World of Warcraft Client (known as WoW Classic) non modified in any part and tested to work with Mangos Revision 3462, but this guide can also be used if you’re going to create The Burning Crusade server although you’ll need to get different database dump from someone else, and of course getting the newer mangos release :

Required Software

1. ~~Mangos Revision 3462~~ : The mangos release is compiled by Maxi and this release also include the following patches :

ScriptDev2 R34
Honor 0.71
MCH 1.5c

And just like i said to make thing easier, i upload this mangos release (just in case Maxi reading this, and he does not want me to upload his file here … let me know immediately so i can remove it … because i already forgot where i get his release) .. i think it is from his userbeam / beam something folder

2. ~~Complete SDB with Changesets 156~~ : Because there’re problem for some people when importing each changeset, i decided to release the SDB used by me … and this SDB updated till changesets 156

But i also include, the create database, and realmd database to make thing even easier

3. MySQL : Essential program, the above 2 files can not be used if you dont have this installed :)

4. ~~Map & DBC Extractor~~ : This is tested to work with World of Warcraft Client version 1.12.1 and Mangos Revision 3459 and Revision 3462 only

But just as i said before, to make thing simpler. I’ve uploaded the DBC Files (maps not included because the file size is bigger than i thought, and my connection speed is nothing compared to all of you) .. and that means all you have to do is just using the ad.exe / map extractor to extract the WoW Maps

Let’s Start

I assume you’ve already downloaded the required software and already installed it (for more in-depth WoW Mangos installation please refer to my previous post)

1. Install the MySQL Software and configure it accordingly, in this example MySQL installed in C:\MySQL and using the default root password which is blank

2. Extract the Complete Database file somewhere in your harddisk, and you’ll see there’re 3 files :

create-database.sql
realm-database-full.sql
mangos-full-for-rev3462.sql

Run it by using this command (this time i make sure to use the default path instead of using command which is already set in environment variable path) from Start Menu => Run => cmd (this cmd can only be used in Windows XP) or command (Win9x) => and change to the extracted directory :)

C:\MySQL\bin\mysql.exe -u root < create-database.sql
C:\MySQL\bin\mysql.exe -u root -D realmd < realm-database-full.sql
C:\MySQL\bin\mysql.exe -u root -D mangos < mangos-full-for-rev3462.sql

Note : The create database will also drop your realmd and mangos database if it is found .. i do this in order to make thing easier (how many times did i say this words in this post) lol

Yet another Note : Extract the database into the same path where your MySQL bin located, or if you already extracted it somewhere adjust the path like below for example :

C:\MySQL\bin\mysql.exe -u root < X:\where_SDB_extracted\create-database.sql

3. Put the downloaded DBC Directory somewhere, in this example C:\WoW\Data\DBC

4. Copy the ad.exe into your WoW installation directory also create directory called maps and run it .. and wait till finished and move the maps directory into C:\WoW\Data\maps

5. Extract the Mangos file somewhere, for example C:\WoW\Mangos. And open the mangosd.conf and edit the DataDir into something like below

DataDir = "C:/WoW/Data"

If you’re using the example path given in this guide, you can use the above datadir configuration

6. Run the mangosd.exe and realmd.exe …. and you’re finished :D configuring the server

7.I’m sorry i forgot to write the last step in this post (thanks to GreekSoul). Now since you’ve finished configuring the server all you have to do now is configuring the client (WoW game) to connect to your server instead of using the default / official server. And it can be done by open the realmlist.wtf in your WoW Game directory and change the realmlist into 127.0.0.1 … and you’re all set

Common Question

I create this part thanks to all the commenters before … especially to metaltildea, PepsiG, Xtonic, luke, Venomz, etc

Q : hay me again it works but the CMD thing it says that the thing u wrote up dosnt exist on the second time
so it wont make the directory :(

A : If you tried to run the mysql command directly without setting it to use the env. variable path, you’ll get that error message … also CMD only work in Windows 2K (correct me if i'm wrong because i already forget about it) and Windows XP (guaranteed to work)

Q : I forget about the signs that dont let me post it.. ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user `username @ localhost` (using password: NO)

A : That error message means, you’re trying to use wrong password for a username, username does not exist, etc .. but in this case, you’re trying to use non existent username (because it was an example)

Q : ERROR 2017 (HY000): Can’t open named pipe to host: . pipe: mysql (2)

A : If you’re trying to use named pipe (this mysql feature only can only be used on NT series such as Windows XP) and you havent configured mysql to do so .. you’ll get that message … to fix it you just have to put below line into you my.ini file (do not forget to restart the mysql service after you done)

enable-named-pipe

Q : Can i import the official data from Blizzard server into my mangos server ?

A : The answer is no, because … blizzard is using different server software which is not available to public .. and no one have access to their server :P ..

Q : my add.exe wont run in my wow map

A : Did you create the maps folder first ? if you did not create it you’ll get an error message. Also you’ll need to run it in your root directory of your WoW installation directory

Q : I can’t run ad.exe or MPQE

A : Im sure there’re missing runtime in your windows system, try downloading and installing below 2 files first and see if it’s fixes the problem or not

- Microsoft .NET 2 Runtime
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package

Q : ERROR 1264 at line 294: Out of range value adjusted for column ‘waittime’ at row 1

A : You’re trying to insert value higher than the allowed value specified in your mysql table … but in this case, this error message seems strange, because i have no problem importing the SDB files including it’s changesets … and that’s why i create this post and upload my database dump :)

Q : I want to be a GM in my mangos server

A : Look at the step #10 in my in-depth explanation on setting up mangos server (do not copy paste the text directly because it’ll give you error message) … and if you get other error message just leave comment here :)

Q : What are the GM Commands ?

A : After making your account to be a GM account, type this ingame .commands and you’ll see available commands to use

Q : My friends can't connect to my server ?

A : Try checking your configuration especially at port configuration, and make sure there's no conflict

How to Configure MaNGOS the World of Warcraft Emulator

It’s been a while since the last time i post something to my blog and that’s because i’ve been playing World of Warcraft in various private / public server, from WowScape, WowFusion, b3ckswow, etc (i'm switching various server because some of them always disconnect me a lot) …

But let’s keep that aside shall we ? because this time i’ll post a guide on how to setup your own world of warcraft private server using MaNGOS (i'm sure there are many other WoW Emulator out there, but i choose this one instead)

And as a note, currently i'm using the World of Warcraft classic version (1.12.1) and this guide might or might not be useful for you if you’re trying to setup TBC (The Burning Crusade) server

So here’s the step …

Update :

If you find this guide a little bit confusing, maybe you should try reading my new guide on how to create wow private server the easier way .. also to those who’s keep getting SQL error or want the easiest way of importing the sql, i already uploaded my mangos sdb (updated till changeset 156) and already tested to work with Mangos Rev3462

You can find all of the files required (including mangos itself) in my new post .. so be sure to check it out too ;)

Required Software :

MySQL : This is important because MaNGOS use MySQL as it’s database and currently i'm running the 5.0.xx version
MaNGOS : Without this you can not run a private server of course but do not forget to get the binary files instead of the source files unless you have Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 ++ installed and want to compile it by yourself (currently i only have MSVC 6 so there’s no way i can compile it, and the Visual Studio 2005 Express version is to large for me to download it)
Map Extractor (both of them included) :

Ad.exe : This is used to extract maps files from your World of Warcraft files
MPQE : This is used to create DBC files which is extracted from WoW games data too

SDB : This is the database used by MaNGOS and to make your private server playable of course this is a must. And the one you must download first is SDB FULL 0.6.2 including it’s hotfix and it’s update (you must register first)

Note : You can get binary release of Mangos from Mangos-Files.de

New Update :

Im sorry previously i did not upload the changeset 141 till 156 files because i thought everyone can find the changesets files easily (also i do not know if the SDB team allowed me to put that thing here) … but to make thing easier (and that’s the purpose) .. i decided to upload the changesets file here (if it’s not allowed i’ll removed it immediately) :

SDB Changeset 1.4.1 – 1.5.6 Files for Mangos Revision below or equal to 3462

You must run the sql files in order (eg 141, 142, 143, and so on) and the step to execute this sql script is described in step 5

Optional Software :

MySQL Client such as Phpmyadmin, etc (although in this example i did not tell you how to use those mysql client) so feel free to use mysql client or not

Special Note :

If you get an error message saying the maps files is outdated or anything similar to that message from the Mangos Log, that means the Ad.exe you’re using is incompatible (i have experienced this) and i'm pretty sure the Ad.exe you’re using is for the Burning Crusade client so try getting the old version a little bit
Im currently using Mangos Revision 3459, because the later revision from 3463 and above did not work for me (i have tested it) and i'm sure it was caused because i do not have TBC installed
Im currently using SDB 0.6.2 and updated till changeset 1.5.6
And as a reminder, i'm using World of Warcraft Client version 1.12.1

Let’s begin …

I assume you’ve downloaded all the required software and now as for the next step :

Note : If you did not set up password for the root account of your mysql database the default password is blank .. but in this example i’ll write username as username and password as password :P

1. Install MySQL and do not forget to enable InnoDB when prompted also check to make sure MySQL is in the Environment Variable Path … and activate the mysql service if you havent do so or if it is not started yet and you’re done installing MySQL

Note : Setting up environment variable for mysql is necessary to make thing easier, because you can execute it from any location

2. Extract the mangos program you’ve downloaded into your desired location for example, C:\WoW\Mangos

3. Open the Run command (Start -> Run) and type cmd and press enter and you’ll see command prompt window

4. Now type this in the command prompt :

cd /d C:\WoW\Mangos\sql
mysql -u username -p -v < create_mysql.sql
mysql -u username -p -v -D realmd < realmd.sql

Note : Feel free to adjust database name to your liking but in this example i only show you the easiest way of doing it

5. Extract the SDB Full 0.6.2 file, SDB 0.6.2 Hotfix, and SDB Update into desired location, for example C:\WoW\SDB and type this in the command prompt :

cd /d C:\WoW\SDB
mysql -u username -p -v -D mangos < SDB_0.6.2_FULL_DB.sql
mysql -u username -p -v -D mangos < SDB_0.6.2_FULL_DB_HotFix.sql
and continue with the update by typing the same command with the exception you must change the filename after “<” character

Note : You must update the database according to it’s version number (0.6.2 Full database equal to changelog / revision 1.4.0) so the update you must get is 1.4.1 and above .. as an addition, it might take a while before the full database imported so you can take a break while doing so

And now you’re done setting up database for MaNGOS … and feel free to delete the extracted sdb file

6. Copy the ad.exe into your WoW game directory, for example C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft. And create maps directory in there and run the ad.exe .. and yet another break time :) .. and when this process finished move the maps directory into your desired location, for example C:\WoW\data\maps

7. Now you’ll need to copy MPQE you’ve downloaded earlier into WoW games data directory, for example C:\Program files\World of Warcraft\Data. And now open command prompt again and type this :

cd /d C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data
MPQE /p dbc.MPQ DBFilesClient\*.dbc

You’ll see another directory created called MPQOUT inside the data directory. Now go open that directory and rename the DBFilesClient directory to DBC, and move it into C:\WoW\Data\DBC for example

Congratulation, now you’ve finished setting up the data required for mangos

8. Now for the last step you’ll need to open the mangosd.conf inside the mangos directory and edit below lines :

Change the DataDir = “@MANGOSD_DATA@” into your data location inside the quotes, in this example it would be like this “C:\WoW\data”

Now you’ve finished configuring Mangos and it’s database completely, as for the next step .. try running the mangosd.exe and realmd.exe and see if you can run it without problem or not .. if there’s no problem you can go to the next step (you do not need to close the realmd process and mangosd process)

9. Go to your World of Warcraft game directory and open the realmlist.wtf file using notepad or other text editor program .. and edit it like below :

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

Now you’ve finished configuring WoW to used your mangos server

10. Now you can connect to your own server, if you want to create new user account you can do so by typing create username password from the mangosd window (it’ll create normal user account). But if you want to create GM account you can do so by typing this from normal command line (type cmd in the run command) and type below lines :

mysql -u username -p
USE `realmd`;
INSERT INTO `account` VALUES (NULL, 'username', 'password', '3', NULL, NULL, NULL, '', CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, '0', '127.0.0.1', '0', '0', '0000-00-00 00:00:00', '0');
quit

To get commands for your GM account, you can type : .commands at the chat window inside the game

That’s it you’re finished configuring Mangos and WoW to be played locally :) and here’s some screenshot (please don’t laugh on my equipment because i dont know anything about good items or equipment in WoW and that’s why i choose to play it locally first to learn about WoW) :)
