PCSX2 0.9.4 (the one and only PS2 emulator i’ve tested and works) has been released yesterday (based from my local time). In fact i just tested two games (Suikoden V, Metal Gear Solid) on this new pcsx2 release and it seems there’s some improvement from the previous version (though i think my current pc specs is still not enough to run games normally on pcsx2). And btw … i’m using Athlon64 X2 5200+ with 3GB PC5300 DDR2 RAM, and GeForce 8600GT

But as a side note, i haven’t tried to play around with all of the new settings yet, other than enabling the Multi Threaded GS Mode and Dual Core mode on the cpu setting

The first one is Suikoden V, i get around 20 to 30 FPS at the Intro part and between 25 to 30 while on ship at the beginning (most of the time it just sits between 25 to 30)

The next game i test is the Metal Gear Solid 3 because i saw on the announcement that PCSX2 0.9.4 support MGS3. And although i get quite good fps at the beginning until the menu appear (more than 35 FPS), unfortunately i can get only around 10 – 18 FPS while in game though there’s an increase if i disabled FSAA and bilinear filtering … at the starting point in the jungle)

So i guess that if you’re using a more powerful pc with a high end vga card (especially if you’re using SLI) … i think that you can get a quite good fps … and probably you can play your ps2 games using this :)

This post was written by SiegeLink and updated by Jared (Oatman) and Reaper-X – Last Update 09 July 2008 :)

This guide’s purpose is solely for those who went through the latest tutorial for the latest ReaperMangos (normal) build and found problems with the installation.

Some steps explained in this f.a.q seem to be unnecessary to advanced users but are only there to make sure that nothing can go wrong, so the end result is always the same for every reader.

Reaper-X also has provided a modification (mod) version of ReaperMangos which includes handy tools/extra’s to the emulator that are not fully tested and supported by the community, using this in terms of installing will not guarantee a working emulator and may give bugs not found in the original, also I will not provide support for the mod version in this f.a.q, since it is for advanced users only.

Q: What is ReaperMangos?
A: ReaperMangos is a compiled build created by Reaper-X and Jared (Oatman) consisting of always the latest version of mangos and scriptdevelopment2 with a database to your liking. At the moment they are: The Unified Database (UDB) and The Project Silvermoon database.

Q: What are the differences between UDB and Silvermoon?
A: UDB is a clean database that tries to come closer to the real WoW game while Silvermoon is a bit more adventure like and adds custom in game related items like vendors who sell powerful weapons.

Q: How do I install ReaperMangos?
A: I suggest using Reaper-X latest guide on ( http://www.reaper-x.com/ ) since it will always have the most up to date information on how to install. Always check in the “Recently Posted” section on the right area of the site for the latest posts, guides and FAQs.

Q: Does mangos change my WoW installation?
A: No, Mangos is standalone, the only alteration made is the realmlist.wtf in the root of WoW.

Q: What does the realmlist.wtf do?
A: It tells WoW what address the server is at, naturally you need to change it, since it’s going to be connected to your server.

Info and tips related to the realmlist.wtf:
Before you make any changes to the list make sure you make an archived copy of it, so you can change back to the original for whatever reason. Download winrar here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Q: How do I install WoW for this?
A: Just install it like you always do, but keep in mind to first install The Burning Crusade expansion (If you have it, off course) and then patch it up to the version necessary, and then extract the DBC/maps/vmaps. Before you go into the extraction process make sure (double check) that you have the right (patch) version of WoW that is compatible with ReaperMangos and that it is properly installed.

Info and tips related to taking precautions before extracting:
Go into the WoW main menu, and you can see the version number on the bottom left, furthermore try to log in ( with any name and password you can think of ) and if you have a corrupt or badly installed WoW, it will begin to check and re-patch.

Q: I don’t have The Burning Crusade expansion pack, is this going to be a problem?
A: Not in itself, keep in mind though; that before you start mangos you need to change the mangosd.conf file (with your notepad). You will see the line: Expansion = 1, you must turn 1 into 0 and save.

Info and tips related to saving in notepad:
Sometimes when you try to save your mangosd.conf (or realmlist.wtf), windows won’t allow you, to get around that; just change the file in to your documents folder and then move it back into the original folder.

Q: I have a European version of WoW?
A: Pay attention before extracting the DBC files, open up extract.bat with notepad and change the files like in this example: locale-enUS.MPQ into locale-enGB.MPQ

Q: I have Vista, is this going to be a problem?
A: That depends on how much total physical memory you have, when you have less than 1024 mb then mangos is going to have trouble keeping up and feeding the database info so you will experience things like NPC’s in the game disappearing and probably a crash after that. This problem will occur especially with project Silvermoon since it has more so called memory leaks.

Q: I have more than 1024 MB of memory (in Vista) but it still crashes?
A: Do try to keep in mind the incredible complexity and the monikers work that goes into making this all work, there are loads of bugs that are still present; and the only thing you can do (as an beginner) at the moment is wait for a newer version.

Info and tips related to vista, server and in game bugs:
Try using different databases, at the moment of writing this f.a.q there are two; (UDB) (Project Silvermoon).

Q: mangos crashed when I started it, and it worked an hour ago?
A: Try restarting your pc, maybe your router\modem\internet connection got disconnected which can mean that MySQL isn’t working anymore, you can check that by going to your command prompt and type: MySQL -u root -p When it asks you for a password you know it still works, but do a restart anyway.

Info and tips related to command prompt (how to in XP and Vista):
Click Start » Accessories » Command Prompt, or go to start/run and type: cmd.

Q: Mangosd.exe is giving an error message stating that it is missing some files or maps?
A: If you don’t have The Burning Crusade; then change the mangosd.conf file (with your notepad). You will see the line: Expansion = 1, you must turn 1 into 0 and save. If the error still occurs than double check the map path you’ve given when you had to specify which directory the maps are in.

Info and tips related to data maps:
You can put the three maps (DBC MAPS VMAPS) in every directory you like but keep in mind that the longer the directory structure is, the more mistakes you can make, so it is wise to make the structure small, for example: c:\maps

Q: Could you please upload the vmaps for me?
A: It is not possible for Reaper-X to upload the vmaps, because it’s really huge, about 1.76 GB. Also from a downloading perspective this is a little too much for comfort.

Q: Rapid share or Megaupload sucks, could you put ReaperMangos on a different site?
A: They don’t suck, your cookie handling, system configuration sucks. Yes it’s true that once you downloaded a file; you will have to wait, but hey it’s for free.

Info and tips related to cookies, to get a working Rapidshare:
There are a lot of ways to get to your cookies settings, I, m sure you can get there trough the tools\options menu in your web browser, the bottom line is that you must enable all the cookies for the site; otherwise downloading might fail to work. Also cleaning up your system might work. Also read for information on Google what is essential (to install) for having a working Rapidshare.

Q: “Reading” but I’m lazy?
A: I know.

Q: I can’t extract the vmaps, because DBC extractor crashes or does not function correctly?
A: On older systems then XP with service pack two; you might need .NET Runtime 2.

Info and tips related to .NET Runtime 2.
You can find information on what .NET Runtime 2. And how to download it at the following
link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en

Q: I installed .NET Runtime 2 and still can’t extract the vmaps?
A: If DBC extractor still isn’t extracting the vmaps; the only option that remains is to disable the vmaps function for Mangos by changing the following:

Open the mangosd.conf with your notepad and change the lines:
vmap.enableLOS = 1
vmap.enableHeight = 1

Into:

vmap.enableLOS = 0
vmap.enableHeight = 0

Q: When I try to install the database; Mangos opens up in a new window and stands idle?
A: You must have administrator rights and/or user account control in XP/Vista.

Info and tips related to administrator rights and/or user account control:

Vista: Go to start/search and type: Accounts then go to user accounts and Turn User Account Control off. Leave the user accounts window open and check on the right if the word administrator is in your account box. If it isn’t then log in to your Administrator account which is the one you created during the initial startup of Vista you must have one because Vista won’t allow you to have only user rights accounts.

XP: This information will be provided next update. (But it is in a way similar to Vista)

Q: Every installation step was successful; I want to play, but how?
A: Click mangosd.exe and let it finish, then click realmd.exe and let it finish; leave them open.
In the mangosd.exe window type the following: create monkey bush
now start up WoW and login to your account with Name: monkey, Password: bush

Info and tips related to GM (Game/Server Master) rights:
This is for advanced users, but some info on this seems necessary, only use the GM option when you want to create a dedicated server, if GM is on as a player then certain and or more instances/creatures won’t work properly. (Confirmed on UDB forum)

Q: I tried a database and I want to try a different one, do I need to re-install MySQL?
A: You don’t have to re-install MySQL, just make sure to backup your character data if you want to keep your characters, and you can just replace the new database trough the reaper-x-mangos.bat, it will replace the data in MySQL with the new data.

Info related to losing character data:
Regretful as it is, sometimes people make mistakes, and therefore it is not guaranteed that your character data is always 100 percent save when you’re installing a new version of ReaperMangos. Remember that all of this (the emulator and the Reaper-X build) is an experiment and still in the so-called alpha stage.

Q: What is your mangos/world database name?
A: That depends on what value you provide during the installation (if you’re using Reaper Mangos), but for reference the default value for mangos database is named mangos while the realmd database is realmd

Q: What are some gm commands in wow?
A: If you’re running Reaper Mangos, you can always get an updated list for each release from this page

Q: How to host wow server?
A: Well actually you have two choices for this, the first one is you can always rent a dedicated server to run your wow server process while the other one is from your own computer. The downside of running from your own computer of course, your internet speed won’t be capable of holding too many users at once unless because your internet connection speed won’t be as fast as connection speed that is used by Datacenter, but since that is the cheapest way to do it most people prefer to run the server from their home instead

Q: How to make wow server public?
A: In order to create a public server you need to setup port forwarding first, and then you need to setup an apache web server with php to be able to server http request for the registration page

Q: What port does mangos use?
A: Mangos by default use port 3724 for the realmd server (login server) and 8085 for the world server (inside game). Also as a side note, if you change the default realmd port into another value, then you’ll need to tell your client to use that port (by default wow client connect to port 3724 for the realmd selection)

Q: What kind of servers are WoW run on?
A: The answer is depend, some people run it on their own computer or you can called it as home server, while others choose to rent a dedicated server (that is not going to be cheap) from various dedicated server provider

Q: How to add a game master to wow private server?
A: You can add game master by simply issuing setgm username (1/2/3) while 1 is the lowest level and 3 is the administrator from inside the mangosd window (prompt)

Q: How to be a GM on WoW?
A: If you’re asking to be a real game master on Blizzard Official server, then i’d suggest you to look at their jobs offering page (if there’s any). But if you want to be a gm on your own server then you can simply use the above command (if you use mangos). If you want to be a gm on your friend server, just ask them directly :P

Q: How to compile Mangos and Scriptdev2?
A: You can read my post on a detailed guide to compile mangos and scriptdev2

Q: I found a bug or a certain quest doesn’t work?
A: Check the following info and tips.

Info and tips related to bug reporting and working features implemented in the mangos emulator:
When you have a bug regarding the installation of Reaper mangos you can do that on http://www.reaper-x.com , for in game bugs there are different forums, but keep in mind that in order to do that, you must have knowledge about how everything works and to follow the rules of conduct assembled by the community.

These are the main forums where to go to for further information regarding fixes or bug reporting:

www.scriptdev2.com
www.mangosproject.org
www.udbforums.org
http://projectsilvermoon.net/

Q: I don’t know what “rules of conduct assembled” means?
A: Than I suggest staying away from the forums!

Q: I have an error message with ReaperMangos that’s not in this f.a.q?
A: I will try to update this f.a.q on a regular basis, also (if you didn’t do it already) try to read this complete f.a.q from top to bottom and try anything that might relate to your problem.

Q: There is a new (patch) version of WoW, when will mangos support it?
A: That is difficult to say, that depends on the update and if the mangos and scriptdev2 team decide if this patch is something that must be dealt with immediately, Waiting is the only thing to do here.
A: I, m not happy with the service provided for the emulator and/or this build!
A: Remember, It is a privilege to download and use ReaperMangos not a right!

SiegeLink signing out,

Just as i said before, that i’ve decided to also release Mangos that is using additional patches based on suggestions made by various commenters here :) … And unlike my other release that is designed to those who prefer to stay out of the trouble, this one is designed to those who already know how mangos work and such stuff … so if this is the first time you’re using Mangos, i’d suggest you to grab the normal version instead or if you’re feeling a little bit adventurous, you can try this one ;)

But first as a reminder that this Release only work with WoW 2.2.3 Client, and tested with TBC Expansion Pack installed, but to those who doesn’t have TBC Expansion pack installed, you can disable it by editing the mangosd.conf to disable expansion map

And here’s some information about this first Reaper Mangos Mod release :

1. Using Auction House Bot as suggested by Jordavius, to populates auction house with random items

And to make things easier to those who don’t know how to see their character GUID and their account ID number for the Auction bot purpose and they’re installing for the very first time of this release (i assume that you’re already familiar with mangos although you’re installing for the first time), i’ve created one account and one character (built-in) for the purpose auction house bot that own the items

the character information that is included used for the auction bot use (to those who are going to use the fresh install without modifying anything) :

Account ID : 5
GUID : 2

Username : reaperbot
Password : reaperbot

Important Note : for some people it might cause conflict especially to those who are going to Restore their character backup into this new database because there’s a high chance that you already have a character using the ID and GUID that is included by default and so to those who are going to use character data restored from my normal release or other release (perhaps) make sure to follow the installation steps after the fresh install section :)

2. Using Jail Patch as suggested by J. J. Roddy to make you easier to adjust character reputation to specific faction

3. Using another database name (mangosmod and realmdmod)

4. And i assume that you’ve installed MySQL of course :P

Download Link :

UPDATE : Reaper Mangos MOD 4703 has been released :)

1. <strike>Reaper Mangos Mod 4651 SD2 151 AH Bot and JailPatch | 9.48MB | Rapidshare</strike>

2. <strike>Reaper Mangos Mod 4651 SD2 151 AH Bot and JailPatch | 9.48MB | Megaupload</strike>

Fresh Installation (without restoring your character data into this one) :

1. Extract DBC, VMaps and Maps

2. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat and write your mysql bin directory when prompted and then choose to install the database first

3. Choose option number 4 to configure the datadir and rate

4. Edit realmlist.wtf and replace :

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

into :

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

5. Start mangosd.exe and realmd.exe

6. Create new account using these commands :

create myusername mypassword

setbc myusername 1

setgm myusername 3

and login :)

Using Data Restored from my normal Mangos release or other release :

1. Backup using reaper-x-mangos.bat provided with my normal release

2. Copy the backup file (backup-realmd.sql and backup-db.sql) into reaper-eazy-mangos directory in this mangos mod release

3. Choose to install the database and wait until it finished

4. And then choose the fourth option to configure the datadir (don’t use the mangosd.conf from my normal release because there are many changes) and adjust the rate … and then you’ll get the mangosd.conf file for this mangos mod release

5. Now open the mangosd.conf in this release and search for these lines :

# Auction House Bot character data
AuctionHouseBot.Account = 5
AuctionHouseBot.GUID = 2

and replace it with :

# Auction House Bot character data
AuctionHouseBot.Account = 0
AuctionHouseBot.GUID = 0

6. Now choose to restore your backup using reaper-x-mangos.bat in this release

7. Now start the mangosd.exe and realmd.exe process, and create a new account for the Auction Bot purpose, and don’t forget to login at least once using that bot account

8. Now stop the mangosd and realmd process (shutdown your mangos server)

9. The next step is choose the option number 6 in reaper-x-mangos.bat to get your character account ID and GUID for AH Bot purpose as shown on below image for an example :)

from the above image the Character Account ID is 5, while the GUID for that character is 2

10. Now you just need to open mangosd.conf once again and then look for these lines you’ve edited before :

# Auction House Bot character data
AuctionHouseBot.Account = 0
AuctionHouseBot.GUID = 0

And replace it with the value you received from the AH-BOT Configurator (i guess that name is not bad at all) :P

# Auction House Bot character data
AuctionHouseBot.Account = 5
AuctionHouseBot.GUID = 2

The first value is your character account ID while the second value is your character GUID :)

11. Start your mangos and realmd process once again … and done !!! congrats … now you can login with your real character

And here’s some new additional commands for you (GM Only) to use which is available in this release :

1. jail – Syntax: .jail character hours [reason]

To jail character of course :P

2. jailinfo – Syntax: .jailinfo

4. pinfo rep | jail – Syntax: .pinfo [$player_name] [rep] | [jail]

Time for another Mangos release again :D … and this time, instead of creating one mangos release, i have decided to also release my other compiled mangos release which is using Auction House Bot and Jail Patch that is designed to those who love to try out something new in their mangos server or in other words, a more experienced mangos user :)

but let’s keep that aside shall we ? because i’m going to write that one on that post release and in this post i’m only going to give you some intruction on how to get your private wow server running using the pure / clean compiled mangos without any additional patches included

As a note this release uses Project Silvermoon Database Revision 18.5 (Not updated except for the core update) and Unified Database 0.8.1 Revision 325 (Updated) and only work with WoW 2.2.3 Client and tested with WoW 2.2.3 with TBC Expansion Pack installed, so if you’re not using TBC expansion pack, you’ll need to disable the expansion pack in mangosd.conf in order to work with your WoW 2.2.3 :)

Just like before, here are the steps :

Requirements :

1. MySQL and it’s guide on how to install it properly

2. Mangos with Database

Update: Reaper Mangos 4703 has been released

Optional (if you don’t have these installed already) :

.NET Runtime – For maximum compatibility with any programs in the future, i recommend you to install .NET Runtime 1.1, .NET Runtime 2.0 and .NET Runtime 3.0 (and don’t forget to read the requirements over at Microsoft website) ;)

Mangos Fresh Install :

Important Note : Below steps is designed to those who are installing mangos for the first time or upgrading from Reaper Mangos 4629, if you’re upgrading from 4602 and below you’ll need to upgrade the character table and realmd first using the menu provided on reaper eazy mangos

Not too Important Note : The screenshots used below is not updated but the installation process is still the same of course :) and oh one more thing, i assume that you’ve extracted the self extracting archive ;)

1. Extract the DBC Files, Maps, and VMaps from your world of warcraft client

2. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside the reaper-eazy-mangos directory / folder, and you’ll be see something like this, and then all you have to do is just write the full path to your mysql installation directory (where mysql.exe and mysqldump.exe can be found) ;)

3. Now you just need to choose option number 1 to install the database as shown on below image, and when prompted for your mysql root password, don’t forget to write the correct password … and then when prompted to choose the database, feel free to choose the Project Silvermoon database or Unified Database so you can compare it :)

4. After finished with the database installation, now you need to choose option number 4 (required or else you’ll see the mangosd.exe close immediately when you run it) to adjust the datadir and adjust the exp rate, and drop rate :)

5. Now after finished with all the above process, you’ll need to go inside your World of Warcraft installation directory (for example C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft) and then open the realmlist.wtf using notepad and …

replace :

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

with :

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

save it and close realmlist.wtf file

6. Now you just need to run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe from your mangos directory and then the next step would be creating username of course :D by typing create username password inside the mangosd window as shown on below image as an example … followed by typing setbc username 1 … so you can choose Blood Elv and Draenei

lastly you just need to type setgm username 3 so you’ll have the GM Power, and … done !!! congrats … now all you have to do is just login using the username you’ve created before ;)

Upgrading from 4629 Release / switching between silvermoon database and unified database :

1. Choose to backup your character first

2. Choose to install the new database

3. Choose the restore option to restore your character and … done :D

Note : Since i don’t really know how many people are still using my old release :( , i assume that most people already upgraded into my previous 4629 release

and here’s my character screenshot

And just in case you didn’t see my previous post, here’s a screenshot of my character riding Nether Drake (note: this is taken using the Unified Database)

and fishing :P

Some people have requested a guide on how to create or link their WoW Private server realmd so their users can choose whatever realmd they want to login to (for example, the first realmd is the PVP World, while the second realmd is to those who prefer normal world) :) … and that’s why i decided to create this guide, and hopefully it’ll be not confusing (i tried my best to make it easy to understand but you judge it by yourself) :)

So here goes the guide :

Requirements :

1. Basic knowledge about MySQL and know how to use MySQL Client program such as Navicat, SQLYog, or PHPMyadmin :)

2. Have lots of free memory / RAM left for best result (i’m using 3GB DDR2 Dual Channel RAM)

3. Mangos already worked and you can use it before trying to attempt this ;)

Note : Depending on which mangos revision you’re using the realmd column might be different (if you’re using my 4602 version then you can just use the same sql query as shown in this example)

also as a side note, you just need to have 1 account to login to each realmd, but it’ll use different data inside each database used

Here are the steps :

1. First make a copy of your mangos (or your mangos directory), so in the end you’ll get two mangos directory, in this example i was using my own compiled version 4617 (my latest version which is available for download for everyone is 4602)

2. Now you’ll need to create a new realmd id as shown on below image, and you can use below sql query if you’re using my 4602 release but if you’re using lower version, there are two option for you to choose : 1. Upgrade or 2. Adjust the column name accordingly

The above query will automatically assign REALMD ID 2 as it’s ID Number if you didn’t touch anything before in realmd table, and another thing to note is use different value for the WORLD Server PORT (in this example i’m using 8086

3. After finished with the above process, now of course you’ll need to create new Mangos Database first for your second realmd, and to do this we need to create a new database and then import the Mangos-UDB.sql file (if you’re using my 4602 release) or adjust it as necessary if you’re using another release, see below image for the example :

3.1 Creating New Mangos Database

or type mysqladmin -u root -p create database-name … if you can’t see the command used on above image

3.2 Importing Mangos DB

After finished creating new database for your second database, now you’ll need to import the fully working database from before into your newly created mangos database (if you’re using my 4602 release, the database name was called mangos-udb.sql and can be found in reaper-eazy-mangos folder)

4. Now you just need to go inside your second mangos directory which is created at step #1 and then open mangosd.conf inside that directory and search for this line :

RealmID = 1

and replace it with :

RealmID = 2

and then search for :

GameType = 1

replace it with :

GameType = 0

and now search for :

WorldDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;mangos”

and replace it with :

WorldDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;root;yourpassword;yoursecondmangosdatabasename”

lastly search for :

WorldServerPort = 8085

and replace it with :

WorldServerPort = 8086

The above step was done because the previous mangos user doesn’t have the privilege to touch that new database name so we need to use root that has global privilege (this is the most quickest and dirtiest way) :P

As a side note, it’d be better for you to create new username for your second database and grant privilege to it for better security (it’s not good to use root account) :)

5. Run the realmd.exe from any of your mangos directory (the first directory which was there before, or the new mangos directory which is created for this purpose), and then run mangosd.exe from the first directory and the second directory

So that result in three new process created … 1 realmd.exe, and 2 mangosd.exe from different directory

6. Now login with your previous username or create a new username and if you’ve done all of the above steps correctly you’ll see two realmd that you can use as shown on below image :

6.1 Realmd Selection Screen

6.2 The first Database With all the characters from before (i think you already saw my character for each screenshot used lol)

6.3 The Second Realmd which is used for this guide

That’s it … i hope you can understand the above explanation … and just like before, if i missed anything just let me know about it :)

Time for another Mangos release again :) … this time the Mangos revision used is 4602 with ScriptDev2 145, and as a warning that although you can play it using WoW Client version 2.2.x (such as WoW 2.2.0, 2.2.2, and 2.2.3), but it’s still not officially supported, so expect something to behave strange for example, hidden teleport in Orgrimmar when you are using WoW 2.2.x client. Although there’s already a fix for it, but since i prefer to distribute a clean compiled version without adding custom patch (such as database, script, mangos core), i decided not to include it :)

Things to note in this version :

1. I decided not to include the Project Silvermoon Database because Project Silvermoon Database website is down (it has been several days if i remembered it correctly)

2. No custom vendor on GM Island (because this is using Unified Database only, and custom vendor which is available on GM Island can only be found in Project Silvermoon database)

3. As for feeding pet … i’m not to sure on how to test it (seriously, because i never play on official server, though i wish i could play too)

That’s it … and now here are the steps :

Requirements :

Update : Reaper Mangos 4629 with ScriptDev2 150 and Dual Database has been released :)

1. MySQL (link to my previous post on how to install mysql)

2. Mangos + Database :

<strike>Mangos 4602 + Scriptdev2 145 with Unified Database 0.7.5 Changeset 319 | 9.36 MB | Megaupload</strike>

<strike>Mangos 4602 + Scriptdev2 145 with Unified Database 0.7.5 Changeset 319 | 9.36 MB | Rapidshare</strike>

Optional :

DBC Files extracted from WoW 2.2.3 enUS Client | 2.59 MB (if you prefer the easiest way without extracting the DBC Files first by yourself)

Fresh Installation Guide (follow this if you’re planning on installing Mangos for the first time) :

1. Extract Maps, Vmaps and dbc files from WoW Client

2. Extract the self extracting archive somewhere, or you can just simply run it and choose to extract into the current directory (don’t worry it’ll create the ReaperMangos4602 folder automatically)

3. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside the reaper-eazy-mangos directory / folder, and you’ll be greeted with this screen, and all you have to do is just write the full path to your mysql installation directory (or where mysql.exe and mysqldump.exe can be found) ;)

<img alt="Reaper Eazy Mangos" src="http://www.reaper-x.com/images/blogs/mysql-20directory.jpg" border="0" / />

4. After finished writing the full path to your mysql installation directory, now you just need to choose option #1 to install the database for you and when prompted for your root password, you just need to write your mysql root password (remember the mysql installation ?) ;)

<img alt="Database installation" src="http://www.reaper-x.com/images/blogs/installation-20process.jpg" border="0" / />

5. After finished with the above process, now you just need to choose option #4, and adjust each option accordingly (the most important thing is your Datadir location)

<img alt="Mangos Datadir" src="http://www.reaper-x.com/images/blogs/mangos-20config-20editing.jpg" border="0" / />

6. Now you need to go into your World of Warcraft Installation directory and open the realmlist.wtf file using notepad and then change these lines :

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

into :

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

7. Now run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe

8. The first thing you should do of course create a new account for you, and this can be done by typing create username password in the mangosd window as shown on below image

<img alt="Creating Account in mangos" src="http://www.reaper-x.com/images/blogs/mangos-20create-20account.jpg" border="0" / />

But a normal account can be boring of course, so we need to configure our username to be a GM, and this can be done by simply typing setgm username 3 (the highest level of course, so you can do anything you want in your server) :P … and done :)

Upgrading from 4577 or below version (note: i only test it from Mangos 4488++ so if you’re using any version lower than 4488, i can’t give you any support)

1. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat, and then go with option #99 and wait until finished

2. Then choose to backup your database

3. After finished with the backup process now you just need to choose the first option to install the database

4. Now you just need to choose the restore option

5. For the last step you just need to continue with configuring datadir (If you’re using ReaperMangos4577 previously, you just need to copy the previous mangosd.conf and realmd.conf into ReaperMangos4602 directory and done) :)

Another WoW Mangos Release, and this time the WoW Client Supported is from WoW 2.1.3 into 2.2.3, but please note that currently the Mangos team still hasn’t fully support the 2.2.x client yet so you might see various opcodes related message being displayed on your mangosd window. Though it doesn’t really affect the gameplay itself, because i have tested this release with the newly released WoW 2.2.3 and … so far everything is working (unless it’s database related of course)

Anothing thing to note is, if you get various database related error message such as Item (Entry: xxxx) have wrong (not-existed) spell in spellid_1 … and so on when you run the mangosd.exe process, you can just safely ignore that message … because i also get that message but still the mangosd server process is still up and running and i can play just fine ;) … and no … mangosd process isn’t crash even when i talked to city guard in various place :P

As a lasy note, this new release contain two database from Project Silvermoon and Unified Database so you can switch between those two database freely and decided it by yourself which database is good for you

Screenshot taken using Silvermoon DB

Okay and here are the steps …

Requirements :

Update : Mangos 4602 has been released :)

MySQL (required in order for Mangos to work)

<strike>Mangos 4577 ScriptDev2 Rev 140 with Project Silvermoon 18 and Unified Database 0.7.5 | 14.1MB | Rapidshare</strike>

<strike>Mangos 4577 ScriptDev2 Rev 140 with Project Silvermoon 18 and Unified Database 0.7.5 | 14.1MB | Megaupload</strike>

Fresh Installation :

1. Extracting VMaps, Maps, DBC and configuring it (to make thing easier, i’ve created a separate guide for it)

2. Extract the self extracting 7–zip archive somewhere, or you can choose to extract it in current directory. And you’ll get ReaperMangos4577 Folder

3. Go inside the reaper-eazy-mangos directory and then run the reaper-x-mangos.bat , and you’ll be prompted with this screen :

All you have to do is just write the full path into your MySQL bin directory (where mysql.exe can be found)

Note : The above step is important, if you don’t write the correct path you’ll get problem later

4. Now you just need to choose option number 1 (Install), and insert your mysql root password when prompted)

5. Now you need to configure which database you’re going to use in your Mangos Installation, in this release i have included Project Silvermoon Database and Unified Database. In below example, i choose the Unified database

As a side note, you don’t need to worry about choosing the correct database because you can always switch it later even if you already created your character with full set equipment. I choose to include 2 database so you can pick which one perform best for you

6. When you’ve finished the above process, now you just need to choose option number 4 to configure your mangos installation

If you follow my previous post about the Maps, VMaps and DBC extraction guide … you can just simply write C:\wow\data when prompted for your data directory. As for the rest (adjusting the rate) i think it’s self explained :)

7. Go to your WoW installation directory and open the realmlist.wtf file

and change the realmlist into using this one :

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

8. Run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe

9. Create new account as shown like below image for an example :

10. Done :)

Switching Database or Upgrading :

1. Run reaper-x-mangos.bat and then choose to backup your character

2. Now choose the first option (Install / Upgrade) and continue with the step until you get back to the main menu

3. Choose the third option (Restore Backup) and you’re done with switching / upgrading database

To those who’s upgrading from my previous release

4. Choose the fourth option (Mangos Config Editor) to adjust your datadirectory, and if you already configured your server to be accessible from LAN then you’ll also need to choose the fifth option to adjust your realmlist again

Here’s a screenshot taken using Unified Database (and yep i almost die there even with Custom Weapon that gives all stats plus 1000 bonus) :P

Warning : this page contain lots of images

To make installation of WoW Mangos even easier, based on various suggestion / comment made by the commenters on this site, i’ve decided to create a new complete guide using lots of images instead describing each step carefully especially at the extraction process of Maps, Vmaps, and DBC which caused problem on some people because they keep getting various error message related to missing vmap, vmdir, map, etc

As a side note, this process is based on my release (i already include all the tools required) so if you’re using someone else mangos release, you can always adjust the path accordingly (i mean the tools itself of course) or find the tools by yourself :)

Okay and here are the steps …

Requirements :

DBC Extractor known as MPQE

Ad.exe to extract Maps

VMaps Extractor and Assembler to create vmaps

Fresh Installation and Upgrading :

Note : the default WoW Installation Directory is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft

Note 2 : the default data directory of your WoW Installation can be found at C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS

Note 3 : Make sure to delete the buildings, vmaps, and maps directory (if there’s any, left from the previous extraction process) before running the .bat files to extract maps, vmaps, and dbc files

Note 4 : All the Tools needed to extract DBC, VMaps and Maps can be found in Tools directory of my release

1. Extracting Maps :

Copy below files into your WoW installation Directory :

and then run extract-map.bat from your WoW installation directory … and wait … until it finished (it’ll automatically close itself when finished). And here’s what it should look like after you run the extract-map.bat

2. Extracting VMaps :

Copy below files into your WoW installation directory :

then run makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat from your WoW installation directory and wait until finished

When you see something like above image, just wait until PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE MESSAGE appear on your screen. If you close that window before it finished the process, you’ll need to redo the vmaps extraction process from start … estimated time : 40 Minutes – 2 Hours or more depending on your computer speed

And here’s what is should look like when the VMaps extraction process finished :

3. Extracting DBC :

Copy below files into your data/enUS directory of your WoW installation

And then run the extract.bat from your WoW data directory and wait until it finished, and here’s what it should look like when the dbc extraction is finished

4. Moving the VMaps, Maps, and DBC directory

Now since you have finished with the above process, all you have to do is just moving the VMaps and Maps directory like shown on below images into somewhere for example C:\WoW\data

and then now you need to go inside your data/enUS directory and then move the DBC Directory there into C:\WoW\data too. As shown below

To make things clear, here’s what it should look like when you’ve moved the above three directory into your C:\WoW\data

That’s it … you’re done … as a reminder, you should keep that C:\WoW\data folder to make upgrading mangos process easier and to save time of course (unless there’re some big changes at your WoW installation like new patch) ;)

I just noticed today that patch 2.2.2 has been released … and so that’s why i’ve decided to upload another release of WoW Mangos for WoW 2.2.2 but for optimal result you should use it on 2.1.3 though since 2.2 and 2.2.2 just gets released this week, so it’s not fully supported yet … but i’ve decided to upload this eventhough i just released 4524 few days ago …

Although i don’t see any problem at all (but that’s because of my lack knowledge about World of Warcraft itself) … but … at least the mangosd.exe process is not crash :P and it is still running in the background normally. As another note, since the only files changed in 2.2+ is just the DBC files, i’ve included the DBC files to make thing easier for you … and all you have to do is just extract the VMaps and Maps files and then configure the datadir, and lastly you just need to import the database

But i think it’d be better if i list the steps :)

UPDATE : If you just recently upgraded into WoW 2.2.3 … please check my new Mangos 4577, Scriptdev2 140 and with Project Silvermoon and Unified Database included ;)

Requirements :

<strike>Mangos 4535 – Scriptdev2 137 – Silvermoon 18 – Extracted DBC from WoW 2.2 | Megaupload</strike>

<strike>Mangos 4535 – Scriptdev2 137 – Silvermoon 18 – Extracted DBC from WoW 2.2 | Rapidshare</strike>

<strike>Reaper-X Mangos Batch File update – Overwrite the old / included reaper-x-mangos.bat inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory from the above link with this one, this update fix the problem where the rate changer is not properly written :)</strike>

Upgrading from previous Mangos 4488, 4505, and 4525 release :

Note : Look for my previous post for MySQL Installation guide, because i assume you’ve done installing and configuring mysql ;)

1. Copy the dbc files included overwriting previously extracted DBC Files

2. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory, and choose to backup your character first

3. Then choose Installation / Upgrade … and wait until finished

4. Now choose the Restore option to restore your precious character data

5. Choose the option to adjust the datadir, and configure the exp rate, etc …

6. Now you need to go into your World of Warcraft installation directory, and then delete the Cache directory there and then run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe you’re done

Optional : Since this 4535 release, i’ve modified the batch script so to those who want to change their realm name can do it using the menu provided instead of executing the sql queries manually :)

Fresh Installation :

1. Copy all files from MapExtractor directory and VMaps Extractor and Assembler into your World of Warcraft Installation directory and then run extract-map.bat first and wait until it’s finished, after finished now you need to run the makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat and wait until Press Any Key To Continue Message appear (that mean you’ve finished extracting the VMaps) … before that message appear don’t close that window (don’t worry it’ll took a while to finish this process) :)

2. After finished with the previous steps, now you just need to move the VMaps and Maps directory which is created automatically from the previous step into the same directory as your DBC Directory

3. Now you just need to follow the upgrade process, because the next steps is just the same like the Upgrading process with the exception if you’re doing a fresh install, you don’t need to perform backup first

Screenshot taken using WoW 2.2.2 (it’s still the same old character, i’m just too lazy to create a new character lol) :

Another note : WoW 2.2 and 2.2.2 still not fully supported by Mangos, so if you found any errors message when used on WoW 2.2, or 2.2.2 … you just need to wait until the Mangos team has released the fully compatible … this is just a quick and dirty way so you can play on WoW 2.2.2 which is just released today

Since there still many people who still having problem with their Mangos Server, based from the number of comments i received so far on this site. I’ll try my best to explain what all those error messages means, so here goes the lists

Note : If you’re using older mangos release, i’d suggest you to upgrade first because i won’t be able to answer your question if you’re using a historic release or old release. And currently this is based on my latest 4524 (if you’re using my previous 4488, or 4505 release … try to upgrade first because in 4524 i’ve already created an even easier batch script so you don’t really need to know about varios MySQL Queries command)

As a side note, if you’re running World of Warcraft TBC version below 2.1.3, i can’t give you any support on this … unless you’ve upgraded your WoW Client into 2.1.3 or 2.2

1. The most frequently asked question is 04331.map not exist error message so mangos can’t be started ?

The answer to that question is … did you run the extract-map.bat from your World of Warcraft Installation Directory ? and if so … did you wait until the process finished completely without interrupting it. And it’ll take a while to extract all maps completely but that’s depend on your computer specs. It took 6 minutes for the process to finished completely on my computer, and oh … i’ve done the extraction process for about 5 times or more, and i can locate the 0004331.map just fine by using Windows Search Function which mean the extraction process is successful

If you’re sure you can locate the 0004331.map using your Windows Search Function, try looking at the datadir section of your mangosd.conf (if you’re using my 4524 release you can just use the reaper-x-mangos.bat to edit the datadir) or you can edit it by yourself using Notepad / Wordpad or other text editor and make sure the datadir point to where you put the Maps, DBC and VMaps directory

For example if you put like on below image for example ( I:\WoW\Data )

You should write DataDir = “I:\WoW\data” as your datadir (with quotes and don’t copy paste from here because this software automatically transform quotes into curly quotes)

Also DataDir = “I:\WoW\data” or DataDir = “I:/WoW/data” is just the same, i can use them both without problem, although on some system you should use backslash (“/”) from various response

2. Could not find 001_33_39.vmdir or other vmdir related error message ?

Did you copy all files inside Tools\VmapExtractAssembler into your WoW installation directory ? and then run the makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat and wait until the process finished without interrupting it ? and one more thing :

if you see vmap_assembler.exe buildings vmaps splitConfig.txt displayed on the command prompt screen, you just need to wait until you can Press Any Key To Continue message appear on your screen

3. ERROR:Could not connect to MySQL database at 127.0.0.1 ?

That error message mean, you haven’t started the MySQL process yet … did you follow my previous guide on how to install MySQL ? and another thing to keep in mind that you need Administrator Privilege in order to do that, and if you still get error message saying can’t bind or something. Make sure that :

There’s no mysql process running in background, to check it open the task manager and then look for mysql under the process list tab. This thing can happen if you previously using repack that include mysql into their repack

4. Could not locate locale-enUS.MPQ, patch-enUS-2.MPQ, or other enUS-MPQ related error ?

That mean you’re using different WoW version, you just need to edit extract.bat inside the DBC Extractor directory like below :

mpqe /d “.” locale-enUS.MPQ *.dbc
mpqe /d “.” patch-enUS.MPQ *.dbc
mpqe /d “.” patch-enUS-2.MPQ *.dbc

Into the correct MPQ filename, for example locale-enGB.MPQ

And another note, you’ll need .NET Runtime 2 in order to run the DBC Extractor

5. Friends could not connect from LAN or stuck in realm loop ?

Make sure you’ve change the realmd.realmlist ip address into your lan Address, and if you’re currently have mangos running close it first before adjusting it into your IP Address

Because some people keep having problem with changing the ip address into their lan ip address, i’ve created the batch script in my 4524 release so you just need to write your LAN IP address when asked (by choosing the LAN option from the menu first of course) … that’s it

But if you don’t know what is your lan ip address … i can’t help you with that

That’s it for now … because that’s basically the most frequently asked questions to me via the comment box ;) … hope this will help you solve your problem
