Using Ads on website may reduce your site visitors ?

A while ago i read various topic (sorry can't remember the exact url but it's in some forum, but i think you’ve already seen some topic like this because it's an old topic) about placing advertisement on site and what makes me interested on writing this is that because some people say that by putting advertisement to your site may reduce the number of your site visitors daily, while some other also say it’s useless to put ads into your site because you’re not going to make money from it .. and various other reason

As from my point of view, if someone say it’s useless to put advertisement on your page, that’s really depend on your site too and the ads type. Because let’s say if you run a non profit organization site, then i think you should get a sponsor instead of placing advertisement because your site visitor are questioning your site credibility because of those ads. With the exception no matter what your site is, as long as you never use popup ads, your visitor will not get annoyed by those popup

But what if they say, by placing advertisement on your site, you’ll lose your site visitor because they simply don't like advertisement ? … well that’s an easy answer ..

First off .. if they’re saying something like that, don't listen to them because if they do really hate advertisement .. instead of saying something useless like that .. maybe they should use ad blocking software installed on their machine. Even if they say, they can't afford to buy a good adblocking program, they can always use freeware / opensource program like me (i never see my own ads or someone else ads) .. why did i say this ? simple .. that’s because if they don't want to donate to your site, at least they use ad blocking software ;)

But back to the topic .. does advertisement really reduce your site visitor ? no .. i dont think so, simply because most internet users don't really know about ads eventhough it’s already labeled clearly as advertisement (even lots of my friend doesn't even know about it) ... The only people that know about advertisement on your website is a just a small percentage of internet users … other than that your loyal site visitor don't really care about your ads because they’re already enjoying what your site can offer

Blogkits Affiliate Marketing First Impression

Well because there’s a recent buzz about this new affiliate marketing program from Blogkits, now i'm going to give my own opinion about this .. and of course because my blog is not a popular blog out there like the big guy out there, you can get the basic idea behind affiliate marketing … and as a note i'm not a marketing expert and everything i write here is based on my own experience on this site since i built it few months ago .. so maybe you should give it a try first and see if it's doing well with your blog or not ..

But instead of talking about me or my own site, now i'm going to give you a good idea on how Blogkits affiliate program will work on your site compared to adsense or chitika which is uing a pay per click option and of course Commision Junction which is using affiliate based program like blogkits and my current webhosting as for the last opponent ..

Note: Keep this in mind, this is based from my own experience .. and i only place it on sidebar for the affiliate program i’ve joined … and i agree with John Chow post about this

Now i think you get the idea, who’s the winner judging from the above results .. even if i make a Four Way Death Match between Adsense VS Commision Junction VS Hostgator VS Chitika .. Adsense is still the winner .. although i'm not really making money from it

And the conclusion is, if you’re going to make money from affiliate program just make sure you’re creating a good niche / topic on your blog .. because if you just create random content, personal diary, and such stuff without a good traffic .. you’re not going to make money from it .. but each website can give you different results so maybe you should try everything you can before you can give your opinion about it ;)

But if it's for me .. maybe at a later time i'm going to use Blogkits .. as for now .. i'm still searching for other option to help me pay my monthly hosting plan :)

Just received cheque from ReviewMe

Today i just received cheque from ReviewMe because of my previous review about it .. well unlike LiewCF that receives $250 US for he’s review .. i only got $30 .. lol ..

Well .. i think now you can see that ReviewMe always play fair and they tell you the truth about paying you monthly even if you only get small amount for it :D

Adsense on the main page = not work for me

For the past few days i’ve been watching this site page impression especially on the main page. And judging by the impression so far from the main page, i think most people that came to this site (mainly from search engine) .. are not visiting the main page, but they just go to the article directly and without bothering to open the main page at all

Fortunately i always track everything, and because of it i know that my adsense account doesn't work to much on the main page, although the adsense works quite well on the single post.

I don't know about other site, but as far as i can tell. If your site doesn't get regular visitor like other big site does (although that’s depend on your site content too), maybe you should consider to optimize the adsense placement on your single article instead of the main page, as for now i think i’ll optimize the homepage a little bit more .. to see just in case i can get more impression on the main page as well

Adsense Section Targetting

I just modified the adsense section targetting used on this site, and hopefully it’ll show a more relevant advertisement to this site. Actually because i saw irrelevant ads on some part of this site, i try to emphasized specific part of this site and hopefully in the future it’ll show relevant ads only (although i doubt that’ll happen) ..

And for those that didn't know about adsense section targetting, you should read about this optimization tips from google adsense website itself. And it's really simple actually to use the adsense section targetting on your site, because all you have to do is by placing below code in your site code :

Simple isn't it ? and if you want to see it live, just take a look at this site source code :) … but don't forget that it’ll not guarantee your site will showing only relevant ads from google adsense … just like Google said on the adsense page itself :

Performancing Partners for Small Blog ?

Finally i’ve removed the performancing partners from the sidebar because i don't think it’ll work as it should other than that performancing partners script is slowing down this site. Because performancing partners ads only perform best on well established blog there’s no way this small blog could make money from it.

And because i'm curious how well the big boy on the same category as me and few others on different category performing with their ads, i take a quick look at their site, and it seems they don't have advertisers on their performancing partners spot on their site althought they get a lot of visitors daily. While other site that is using different topic such as Problogger, already making money from it.

Maybe that’s because performancing partners is still new, that’s why they don't have many advertisers as for now, even if they already have a lot of advertisers i don't think small blog like this can make profit from it. Because all the big boy’s there are still lining up for advertisers too.

Images near Adsense Ads

I’ve seen several website using images near their adsense ads, although the Google team itself already said you can put images near your adsense ads as long as you put visible border between the adsense ads and the images. Because several people already emailed the adsense team and most of them got response like below from the google adsense team

You’re welcome to place images near the Google ads on your site. However, we ask that publishers not place misleading images near Google ads or use images that appear to be directly associated with the advertisers and their offerings. Such images may draw undue attention to the ads and prompt unintentional user clicks, thereby artificially inflating advertiser costs. As you may know, drawing undue attention to ads is in violation of our program policies, so we’re unable to approve the placement of all images next to Google ads. If you choose to experiment with placing images directly next to the ads, I’d strongly encourage you to maintain a visible border around the adunits to reduce the possibility of confusing users.

Some people said eventhough they have put visible border, Google Adsense team still asking them to remove the images from their site. Well i think i will take the safe route because i don't want my adsense account get banned because of simple matter like this. But we’ll see about that in the future :D

Affiliate link, should you reveal it ?

For some people affiliate link is something that makes them stay away from your site, although personally i didn't see affiliate link as something bad. But losing visitor to your site ? should you accept that ? Just to trade with some affiliate link ?

Well if it's for me that’s a tough question, if i have an affiliate link, i’ll keep it for a while (it could be a month or so) and see if it's generating income to me or not .. because not everyone know about affiliate link, and even if they know about it, they can't do anything to your site because that’s your own site, and you pay for it. Of course in order to cover the expenses to maintain your site, you’ll have to generate more income and that’s why if the affiliate link can cover those expenses, you should leave it on your site.

And if they’re asking you directly a question like, why there is lots of affiliate link on your site ? then give them a question like if they have a website or not ? and do you know about monthly expense ? . Because someone who know about monthly expense from maintaining website (paying internet access, paying webhosting, etc) … can understand that you’re paying lots of money just to make sure your site running properly.

And what about using free hosting ? well if the free webhosting gave you permission to make money from it. Why not using it ? As you already knew even if you’re using free hosting .. you still pay for your monthly internet access, and your electric bill.

Although that is depend on your perception, if it's for me i’d rather choose to not telling anyone about affiliate link on my site, unless i want to say it directly on my post or they ask to me directly :) (if there’s any) :P

Performancing Partners Script Slowing Down Site

It seems i'm not the only person that is experiencing slow page loading time because of the performancing partners script with the exception i’ve been experiencing this since i placed the performancing script on my site. And it caused the same problem too, because everytime i try to load this site when the performancing script placed above anything else. The browser seems hang for a few seconds while loading the performancing script and that caused the other items on the sidebar can't be displayed untill the performancing partners script already loaded completely :(

Although they did say to put the performancing partners script / logo at the top part of my page .. but because there’s no way i can get money from it, because i can't receive money using paypal although i’ve already signed up with them .. (my country can only send money using paypal not receiving it) .. so i decided to put it near the bottom of my site after other items on the sidebar which is not advertisement.

The main reason i'm still using those script simply because it's nice to see the ads impression on my site although i don't get money from it :(

ReviewMe, an Online Money Maker for Bloggers

Okay, i just sign up with ReviewMe another online money making source for blogger which is almost similar to PPP / Pay per Post, and fortunately after i just sign up with them, and submitting this blog. It get accepted immediately ! I don't know the actual reason, because i don't think my blog is popular on the internet, and that means they’re accepting everyone (in this case new user) .. and don't worry i'm not putting any affiliate link here.

Although some people disagree with pay per post, but i always think if you haven't tried it yet. Then don't say anything bad about it. Simply because everyone has different opinion on something, and if they said some ads works best for them, that doesn't mean it works best for you too. So you’ll have to try every possible way to make sure you’ll not regret about it later. Btw i’ve already talk about this before.

Okay and now i'm going to write review about them, and that’s because the first thing to do after you just sign up with them is creating a review about ReviewMe. And that means this is a sponsored post for them.

As my own opinion about them is, although Sponsored post advertisement is good, because you can get money faster from it (i don't know if there’s minimum payment like in Adsense), but there’s one drawback to this advertisement method by looking at their FAQ page :

And the conclusion is, if you’re sure your blog is popular and get lots of visitors daily. Then you can make money from ReviewMe easily. But if your blog isn't popular then you should try another advertisement method for your blog. But just as i said before, it's not hurt to try it first. And that’s all folks ;)
