Agloco, Get Paid to Surf the Net. Fact or Fiction

I’m pretty sure most of you are dreaming on how to make money online simply by surfing around the web without creating website or anything involved in managing something, but is it really possible to make money online without doing anything ? except by surfing only ? well .. yes that is possible as long as you do not care about installing software (in this case it was a Toolbar called ViewBar) on your own computer and of course there’s a high chance you’ll trade your privacy for money because of this. And if you do not really care about that, now i’ll introduce you to Agloco which will pay you for surfing only

How do I earn cash from this program ?

First you must sign up with them, download the viewbar and then you can just simply surf the web as usual and earn cash .. easy and simple

But where’s the download link for the Viewbar ?

Unfortunately, the viewbar is still in beta stage and only some people are invited to beta test it first so as for now the only way to make sure that thing would be under control at later time you can invite your friend

So how do i actually earn money from it without the viewbar ?

Well .. just like i said before, the only thing you can do for now is by inviting other people such as your family, friends, colleague, enemies, etc to join them

It sounds like scams !

Sure is, at first i do not want to believe this too, but because you do not have to actually pay anything to join them so you do not actually lose anything by joining them

They say you can earn their Company shares, is it for real ? and what will my shares be worth ?

I would say yes after reading their faqs, as for your shares value .. that’s depend on the number of their members. That means more members more value

Can i sell my shares ?

Yes you can, you can sell them at the Stock exchange .. but do not ask me this question because i know nothing about stock exchanges and such stuff. Beside if i know a lot about stock exchange you wont see me on the web, but you can see me on local stock exchange instead

What is your opinion (my own opinion) about this ?

To be honest .. actually i doubt them too, because the only thing i know for sure on how to get money is by doing real work ! or hard work ! … because there’s no such thing as easy money, and if there’s any .. i'm pretty sure it not going to be happen in this world. Even doing illegal stuff can cost you too

But just like i said before on the above paragraph, there’s nothing to lose from joining them. Beside if you value your privacy, you can always use Virtual PC program on your system so you do not have to worry about your privacy stuff being taken

WTF ? How come you’re promoting them if you doubt it ?!

Now i get confused too, why should i promote them if i doubt that this program are going to work as it should ? well .. the truth is i’ve seen several other blogs topic about this, for example you can read it from DoshDosh Blog .. infact if you could truly earn money by surfing only, that would be interesting to try .. right ?

So what are you waiting for ? should i tell you more about Agloco or you just want to sign up with them right now instead ?

Kontera ContentLink In-Text Ads Review

Today i just got accepted into Kontera In-text advertisement program, and to those who didn’t know or never heard about Kontera In-Text Ads known as ContentLink before, here’s the short description about Kontera ContentLink

What is Kontera ContentLink ?

A contextually relevant keyword that is discovered in real-time on a web page from within Kontera´s vast network of publishers, and is automatically turned into a link to the most relevant ad from among Kontera´s thousands of advertisers. With ContentLink publishers generate incremental revenue while advertisers reach their most targeted audience on a Cost-Per-Click basis

What are the requirements to Join Kontera ?

Generate more than 500,000 page impressions per month
Be content-rich with more than 50 words per page on the majority of the site
Use English as the primary language
Kontera technology works in real time and therefore we work with publishers and advertisers in all content categories, and even with user generated content such as blogs, forums, social networking sites etc.

If you saw the italic part of the above Kontera Requirements, you’ll notice that your website must have a minimum 500.000 page impression per month before you can be accepted as Kontera Publisher, of course for this is a really high requirement for most publisher even for this website

Fortunately, the above requirements is no longer valid .. and this is all thanks to Joel Comm and this has been discussed over at Digital Point forums

Can i use Kontera with Adsense ?

Definitely, ever since Google updated their adsense terms of use, many publishers now can use other contextual advertising network with adsense as long as the ad format is different from the adsense format

If the ad format is quite similar to adsense ads, then you can still use it too as long as you use different color scheme to distinguish between adsense ads and other contextual ads

Can i make more money from Kontera ?

That’s depend on your site traffic itself, basically Kontera is just like adsense, if you only get small number of traffic per day then you can be sure you’re not going to make money from it. So your best bet is to increase your site traffic :)

My own opinion about Kontera

Some people might / might not like in-text advertisement, but if it’s for me i find Kontera ContentLink non obtrusive. After all it’s just a normal link but in this case it was more like Snap Preview. Some says Snap preview is useful while the other says Snap is useless / obtrusive. But i'm also interested on hearing your own opinion about in-text advertisement :)

Did you find ads on webpage disturbing your surfing experience ?

Few years ago, i always dislike ads that’s placed on various website .. although i never ask the owner to remove his ads, but i do find that advertisement is disturbing me and so i decided to use various filtering program to remove advertisement immediately so i dont have to see it. And if i do saw ads goes through the filtering mechanism, i always add new rules to filter it right away

But now ? ever since i started this site. I know that ads can be useful to generate extra revenue for your pocket or at least to pay your monthly web hosting bill or your internet access bill. And does it change my own opinion about ads placed on various website ? the answer is “yes” but i still use the filtering program

Why did i say that ? the answer is because if you decided to make money online (whether by coincidence or not), there are only 2 ways to generate revenue for your site. The first one is by placing ads, while the other method is by placing donation button but the second method is definitely harder for you because donation button can only useful to website that’s really giving valuable information such as Wikipedia. But if you get extremely huge amount of visitors to your site, it could be a big problem too if you decided to only use donation method only and a good example of this is also Wikipedia (to read more about their financial problem, you can find about it from here and here)

So what’s the point of the above paragraph ? simple, at first maybe you just want to create a website so your visitors can enjoy your website without the disturbing ads, but at some point you’ll know why ads are important for your site because that’s the only way to generate revenue from it even if you just want to pay for your monthly web hosting bill. But in order to experience this feeling, you must first create a website too, and make your website get more than 500 unique visitors daily

But please keep this in mind, eventhough you’re placing ads on your website. You must carefully select ads that’s appearing on your website because there are some ads type that’s really disturb your site visitors experience such as Pop Up ads

And what about you, did you still find ads disturbing from your point of view ?

Minimum Requirements for Text Link Ads ?

I’ve been wondering this for a while, even i’ve searched Digitalpoint forums about text link ads information. But none of the results are giving me accurate information about Text Link ads requirement (link)

Some of them are lucky :

While there’s an unlucky one like me :

Duilen – They denied my PR3 gaming blog with 1k+ uniques per day

Well .. i guess after waiting for several months without being accepted into Text Link Ads program, i decided to forget about Text Link Ads. Simply because, i’ve tried contacting them a few times and i always got the same message about my site link popularity is too low :(

I do not know what tool they use to judge website link popularity, but currently my blog is PR5 (at the time i wrote this post) but still got rejected by them. Other than that, i’ve also tried emailing them too and after a few days waiting for their reply .. i still got the same rejection message

Using Feedburner MyBrand ? Why not

Feedburner MyBrand is a premium FeedBurner service that allows publishers to showcase their feeds by serving them from their own domain. And i think most of you already know that if there’s premium words attached to every service, that means you’ll have to pay for it

Now the question is, why you should use Feedburner MyBrand instead of using the default feed address from your blogging platform or the free feedburner address ?

1. Easy to set up and easy to manage

Your blogging platform software doesn't provide stats tracking, and you’ll have to use another service / software to track it. And if you decided to track everything using various free stats tracking script on your own host, you’ll have to set up everything first, and managing it so it not causing more load to your host or server

2. More visibility to your domain

If you choose to use the free service from feedburner, you’ll notice that the url of your Feedburner address would be like feeds.feedburner.com/your-feed-name . And what’s the big deal with that address ? here’s a good explanation written by Jennifer Slegg from Searchengineland (tip #22) :

Don’t always think your free blog hosting company will be around forever. What will you do if you build up a loyal readership then one day you discover yourblogname.examplebloghost.com no longer works because examplebloghost.com has gone out of business? You want to make sure the search engines have a URL they will always find your blog at, rather than have to worry about them re-indexing your previously well-ranked blog on am entirely new domain… that is if you are lucky enough to get your blog posts from your free hosting company. Both Google's Blogger & Wordpress allow you to use their hosted blog service while displaying it on your own domain instead of their own branded one.

She said don't always think your free blog hosting will be around forever. And of course this applies to Feedburner too (see Danny Sullivan post about this for more info), and so that’s why i prefer to use my own domain name, instead of using feedburner address. And if you ask me why i choose Feedburner MyBrand instead of using default feed address from Wordpress, see point #1

3. Do i need to use it if my blog only has a small number of subscribers ?

Well .. actually it’s up to you, whether you want to use the default feed even without tracking it's statistical data, but if it's for me i’d rather choose to use hosted service from elsewhere (Read: Feedburner) simply because by using Feedburner i can also track who’s scrapping my site content without permission and try to make money from it (by placing Adsense next to it, of course) ..

4. How much does it cost ?

$2.99/month for up to 3 feeds
$6.99/month for 4-9 feeds
$13.99/month for 10 or more feeds

Google Adsense with Amazon Omakase & Chitika

A few days ago i sent an email message to the Google Adsense team regarding the use of Chitika contextual ads and Amazon Omakase on the same page with Google Adsense (if you’ve read my previous adsense tips, you’ll know why i prefer to ask adsense team). And today i just received a reply from them (it's took a little longer than usual to received this email message, but im fine with that because in their auto-generated message, it says that due to the long holiday weekend in the U.S., there may be a delay in responding to your email. Please be assured that we'll respond just as soon as we can) ..

and here’s what they said about using adsense with other contextual advertisement :

Hi Aditya,

AdSense publishers may display ads from other contextual ad networks on the same page as Google ads only if the formatting or color scheme of these ads is sufficiently different from the layout of the Google ads. In other words, if you choose to place non-Google ads on the same site or page as Google ads, it should always be clear to the user that the ads are served by different advertising networks and that the non-Google ads have no association with Google. If the formats are naturally similar, we'd ask that you use different color schemes for the competing ads.

Of course, we're constantly investing in our advertising technology, and we believe that Google ads will monetize best for most publishers. Be aware that the addition of third party ads to your site may cause fewer users to click the Google ads on your site and thus your AdSense earnings may decrease. We'd also recommend that publishers be careful not to place excessive advertising on their sites, as doing so may result in fewer repeat visitors.

As you can see on that email message, it says that it is possible to use Adsense with Amazon Omakase and various Chitika product, as long as the other contextual ads are using different color schemes if the competing ad service offer similar format like adsense

Other than that i also agree that plastering your site with various advertisement will reduce your site visitors, but in my opinion … my site is still better than many other site / blog which is using advertisement on their site .. ;)

Making Money from Blog with Pagerank

Almost every webmaster already know about Google Pagerank. And thanks to it there are various opinion on whether pagerank should be used to judge a website value. Some of them are saying that the most important thing in a website is it's content, while some other says that pagerank is the first thing to look when judging a website (indirectly, and the truth is i'm included in this category too :D )

And what about Alexa Rank ? .. well most people always said to not trust Alexa rank because they’re also not providing accurate result for your website statistic. And that’s simply because Alexa rank can be manipulated easily.

But let’s put that aside, shall we ? .. okay .. at first when i'm still building this website, my site didn't have a pagerank (or at least it’s not appearing on the Google Toolbar or many other site that provides service to display your site pagerank), and of course with that status i'm having difficulty especially if i want to submit this site to various directory (although some of them are nice by giving a free link, but most of them require you to have a pagerank first), doing some link exchange, etc

But the worse part is, if you’re trying to monetize your site by submitting your site to various advertisers. They always check your site pagerank first (except for Google adsense of course, because adsense always accept any site as long as your website is using english language or any other language as long as it’s still supported by adsense), and some of them also check your Alexa statistic. And the results is, if your site doesn't have a pagerank or low alexa rank .. you can be sure that they’re going to reject your website

And now what if your site already has a pagerank on it ? and even better your site get a pagerank of 4 and above ? Simple .. you can do various method to make money from it. But the easiest way is of course selling ad space on your site, such as text link or place the advertisers banner on your site. You can try offering your ad space from various online forum

But what if you don't like or don’t want to advertise your site in every online forum by yourself ? It’s easy, you can simply join third party site that is automatically offering your site to various advertisers, and the best part is you don't have to do anything because all you have to do is just wait. And for this part i recommend Text Link Ads (aff) because they’re the easiest and all you have to do is just placing their code on your site

Okay, that is all about using your pagerank status to make money from it, but please keep this in mind. Having a good pagerank status doesn't guarantee your site will be making lots of traffic because Google pagerank value always changed (dynamically) although the toolbar value is only exported after several months at Google update

Now .. that’s what i call interesting ads .. maybe other Adwords user should use the same method like this too .. lol

( Fortunately i temporarily disabled the ad filtering program, because if those ad filtering program activated .. there’s no way i could see something like this )

Using Ads on website may reduce your site visitors ?

A while ago i read various topic (sorry can't remember the exact url but it's in some forum, but i think you’ve already seen some topic like this because it's an old topic) about placing advertisement on site and what makes me interested on writing this is that because some people say that by putting advertisement to your site may reduce the number of your site visitors daily, while some other also say it’s useless to put ads into your site because you’re not going to make money from it .. and various other reason

As from my point of view, if someone say it’s useless to put advertisement on your page, that’s really depend on your site too and the ads type. Because let’s say if you run a non profit organization site, then i think you should get a sponsor instead of placing advertisement because your site visitor are questioning your site credibility because of those ads. With the exception no matter what your site is, as long as you never use popup ads, your visitor will not get annoyed by those popup

But what if they say, by placing advertisement on your site, you’ll lose your site visitor because they simply don't like advertisement ? … well that’s an easy answer ..

First off .. if they’re saying something like that, don't listen to them because if they do really hate advertisement .. instead of saying something useless like that .. maybe they should use ad blocking software installed on their machine. Even if they say, they can't afford to buy a good adblocking program, they can always use freeware / opensource program like me (i never see my own ads or someone else ads) .. why did i say this ? simple .. that’s because if they don't want to donate to your site, at least they use ad blocking software ;)

But back to the topic .. does advertisement really reduce your site visitor ? no .. i dont think so, simply because most internet users don't really know about ads eventhough it’s already labeled clearly as advertisement (even lots of my friend doesn't even know about it) ... The only people that know about advertisement on your website is a just a small percentage of internet users … other than that your loyal site visitor don't really care about your ads because they’re already enjoying what your site can offer

Images next to Google Adsense Ads

Google adsense team finally write a clear information regarding the use of images next to the adsense ads on their official Google Adsense Blog

Quoted from the Official Google Adsense Blog :

We've recently received a number of emails from publishers asking how we feel about the placement of images near Google ad units. There's been some confusion on this issue, and so we turned to our policy team to set the record straight.

Can I place small images next to my Google ads?

We ask that publishers not line up images and ads in a way that suggests a relationship between the images and the ads. If your visitors believe that the images and the ads are directly associated, or that the advertiser is offering the exact item found in the neighboring image, they may click the ad expecting to find something that isn't actually being offered. That's not a good experience for users or advertisers.

Publishers should also be careful to avoid similar implementations that people could find misleading. For instance, if your site contains a directory of Flash games, you should not format the ads to mimic the game descriptions.

What if I place a space or a line between my images and my ads? Would that work?

No. If the ads and the images appear to be associated, inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads will not make the implementation compliant.

Does this mean I can't place ads on pages with images?

You can definitely place Google ads on pages containing images -- just make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors. For example, if you run a stock photography site with a catalog of thumbnail images, don't line the ads up with the thumbnails in a way that could be misleading. Consider using a full border around your ads or changing your ad colors, for example.

What do unacceptable implementations look like?

Here are some examples that wouldn't comply with our policies.

Although it doesn't really matter to me, because just as i said before .. i’d choose the safer route along my adsense placement. But if you’re already using images near your adsense ads, then you should think twice before using it (beside with the safer route you can still generate revenue from your adsense account) ;)

Use Adsblacklist to filter MFA Websites

Some of you especially for those that place adsense on your site maybe already heard about adsblacklist, and some people saying that by using it they can make better earning from their adsense account daily, although some of them are also saying that never use such ad filtering service because it will make your daily earning lower than the usual

But instead of talking user experience, now i'm going to talk about Made For Adsense or known as MFA Website. First of all MFA website were built specifically so the owner of that website can make greater earning from his / her adsense account simply by using Adwords to promote his site. And in return he / she put his / her adsense account on their website

If you already notice that your website generate high CTR on your adsense account but you only get a small amount of money daily then most probably it’s because those MFA website are filling your website with their low pay per click advertisement. And the question is .. should you filter it from your adsense account or leave it ?

Well .. i think there are various answer to that question, but if it's for me .. of course i’d block them from being displayed on my website simply because i don't want them to earn higher money than my own adsense account especially if they’re only paying small fee. Why did i say that ? simple .. because those cheater (i call them cheater) .. are placing low pay per click while they’re displaying medium to high pay per click ads on their website and in return they are generating profit from it instead of wasting money for their adwords and i don't want that to happen on my website

So .. what are you going to do next ? are you going to filter it or still using it on your website ? Well that’s your decision ;)

Blogkits Affiliate Marketing First Impression

Well because there’s a recent buzz about this new affiliate marketing program from Blogkits, now i'm going to give my own opinion about this .. and of course because my blog is not a popular blog out there like the big guy out there, you can get the basic idea behind affiliate marketing … and as a note i'm not a marketing expert and everything i write here is based on my own experience on this site since i built it few months ago .. so maybe you should give it a try first and see if it's doing well with your blog or not ..

But instead of talking about me or my own site, now i'm going to give you a good idea on how Blogkits affiliate program will work on your site compared to adsense or chitika which is uing a pay per click option and of course Commision Junction which is using affiliate based program like blogkits and my current webhosting as for the last opponent ..

Note: Keep this in mind, this is based from my own experience .. and i only place it on sidebar for the affiliate program i’ve joined … and i agree with John Chow post about this

Now i think you get the idea, who’s the winner judging from the above results .. even if i make a Four Way Death Match between Adsense VS Commision Junction VS Hostgator VS Chitika .. Adsense is still the winner .. although i'm not really making money from it

And the conclusion is, if you’re going to make money from affiliate program just make sure you’re creating a good niche / topic on your blog .. because if you just create random content, personal diary, and such stuff without a good traffic .. you’re not going to make money from it .. but each website can give you different results so maybe you should try everything you can before you can give your opinion about it ;)

But if it's for me .. maybe at a later time i'm going to use Blogkits .. as for now .. i'm still searching for other option to help me pay my monthly hosting plan :)

SEO World Championship Contest

I just found out via Google about another World SEO Championship which is going to be started on 15 January 2007 (the previous SEO Contest is ambatch seo contest or something like that .. as far as i know of) ..

Although i'm sure there’s no way i can win this contest, because my site is just a new site, it doesn't have a pagerank, only a few link to this site .. and various other factor .. but i think i'm going to try it :D because it's free ! so there’s nothing to worry about :P (at least i didn't see anything on their website about registration prices or such stuff)

We're excited to tell you that AdSense for content is now supported in Croatian, Czech, Slovak, and Traditional Chinese. If you manage a site in one of these four languages, you can now complement your existing AdSense for search boxes (and revenue) with contextually-targeted AdSense ads!

To get started with generating your AdSense for content code, just visit the AdSense Setup tab in your account. Please keep in mind that after you add the ad code to a new page, it can take up to 48 hours for our crawler to access your site. Once your site has been crawled, our system will automatically detect the primary language of your pages and serve targeted ads in the correct language.

Well .. it seems a good news for those who use their own primary language on their site .. unfortunately .. Indonesian Language is still not supported by adsense ? :(
