Megaupload Upload and Download Manager

Well .. maybe the title of this post should be Mega Manager because that’s what this program named actually .. but who cares about simple stuff like that :P … okay .. actually today i just started using this program (i knew this program has been out since a looong time ago) but because at that time i'm still using a limited internet access i wasnt able to use my internet connection like many other internet users do such as downloading movies, or any other big files

And i think you already guessed it by now what’s the actual function of this freeware program from Megaupload … yes … this program is used to make uploading or downloading files from Megaupload a lot easier (although most of these features are only useful if you have megaupload premium access)

The main features of this program are :

Powerful uploading (up to 6 times faster than through a web browser)
Upload at line speed
Unattended batch uploads
Resume broken uploads
Powerful downloading
Resume broken downloads
Unlimited unattended batch downloads (premium only)
Download at line speed (premium only)
Batch link checking
Know which links are still valid before you start downloading

Integrated generic download accelerator

Although the only useful features for me is only the Download function :P because this program can resume your download session at later time (i tested this and worked great) .. because my internet connection really sucks at day time (even below Dial Up connection speed) so the resume features really useful because i can resume the download progress at night

Okay and here’s what this program looks like :

As you can the program interface is self explanatory and even you do not have to mess around with it’s configuration first in order to use it .. because all you have to do is just simply enter your megaupload username (premium or non premium member) and enter your password and you’re all set

And now where to get this program ? simple .. you can go to this page and download it .. but i’d suggest you to read the End User License Agreement / Privacy Policy when installing this program (although it does not contain spyware or any other malware) this program also install the Alexa Toolbar but only if you decided to install it (you can decline the Toolbar installation and that’s what i do) .. well .. and that’s all about it .. happy downloading ;)

AllofMp3 Sued for $1.65 Trillion by RIAA

The RIAA (yes, I was just as shocked as you) is suing the website AllofMP3.com on behalf of EMI, Sony BMG, Universal Music, and Warner Music in the amount of $150,000 for each of the 11 million songs that were downloaded from June to October of 2006. That comes to a lawsuit totaling $1.65 trillion!

Personally I think the $1.65 trillion is just a number to scare AllofMP3 and the case will likely be settled out of court for much less. Consider typical RIAA cases against pirates. A friend of mine was sued by the RIAA for 3 songs at ~$3,500 each and he ended up settling for something less than $4000 total.

And the conclusion is, it’d be best for you to stay away from making mp3 download site (if you don’t want to end up being sued by RIAA), because any four digit US Dollars means a lot for some people (including me)

Goto Maki - Glass no Pump Dance Shot Version

Ah .. i just got myself a Goto Maki – Glass no Pump video, well actually it’s uploaded by my friend Ocster (if she has a homepage i’ll be sure to update this post to reflect her homepage address) .. by the way she’s uploading it into the Megaupload (yeah, i know that’s not your fav. public file sharing service right ? ) … anyway here’s the download link for Goto Maki – Glass no Pump Dance Shot Version (it’s an AVI Container format using XVid codec .. and great quality too, of course) with a filesize of 61MB

Bypassing Megaupload Restriction

Just in case you didn't know that if you're from a small country like me and like to download something from Megaupload, you'll always get a message saying that "All download slots (100) assigned to your country (insert your country name here) are in use" which is really annoying, and although you've been waiting for a long time that message would still appear .. but that problem can be solved easily only by using cgi proxy, and you can do it easily without changing anything in your browser configuration. And a recommended CGI proxy, that im using to download from Megaupload is this one ... and with a large number of proxy to use on that site, there's no need to worry that you still can't get access to download your favorite file from the Megaupload server, simple isn't it ?

as a side note, if you read my previous article about using squid with JAP .. you can also bypass megaupload restriction easily and beside you can restrict the use of that proxy only for Megaupload site (although i didnt explain that part very clearly) ... and that's what i always doing
