Reaper-X Trinity/MaNGOS Rev: 1 (2.4.3) (World of Warcraft)

After months and months without updates I finally decided to get my lazy butt down onto the chair so that I could begin to publish you guys a really nice and well thoughtout repack. This repack, has over 13,000 new features/additions since our last Reaper-X Update.  Yes I know this is a 2.4.3 release, but its so stable I just had to release it!  We have moved from MaNGOS to Trinity. Trinity is a core that is based off of MaNGOS and still is in sync with MaNGOS. I chose Trinity because there is a little more things fixed in Trinity than in MaNGOS.  Also from the start of this revision, will be our official supported release. Meaning that we will provide updates from this revision to the future. So you guys will be able to upgrade your server without losing your character data! We will also even provide support and upgrade your characters when WotLK gets released for 3.0.8! So you can use this 2.4.3 release and whenever we update to 3.0.8 all your characters will be upgraded successfully! :D

Also, alot of the batch file was reprogrammed to make it better than ever!

Zulman Gates!

  2. lildudespider said Dec 30, 2008 at 11:56 pm

    as far as i am aware these repacks are made for windows users, it may be possible to make a compile for unix

  3. kalverra said Dec 30, 2008 at 10:11 pm

    will this update work on a unix system?

  4. wrath said Dec 30, 2008 at 9:15 pm

    Good job Lildude now your getting it. a lot of times with a new install it helps to try different things and too look at old bat files to see what might have changed. Trininty is very close to mangos.

    Colt45, Oatman and reaper should get the AWESOME AWARD of the year for their time and effort and coding. GOOD JOB ALL!!!!

  5. lildudespider said Dec 30, 2008 at 8:00 pm

    i forgot to publish this, whenever there si a space in a file path, by adding quotes to the start and end of the path, the name will be read as normal

    example

    Will NOT WORK

    C:\set mysqlpath=C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin

    Will work

    set mysqlpath=”C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin”

  6. Stumpyy said Dec 30, 2008 at 7:48 pm

    Nice work,

    I assume this Trinity branch release is based on the usual Intel CPU’s and doesn’t support the fubar AMD’s.

    So I’m guessing I have to find the source and recompile to make it work with my sub par configs.

    Anyway – Your reasons for sticking with 2.4.3 at the moment are very good, and the ability to upgrade sounds very promising. I look forward to finding some time to play with this and upgrade my installation.

    I have followed the instructions several times to install the database but when i the Trinity Core i keep getting this error:
    ERROR:Table `quest_start_scripts` has invalid talk text id (dataint = 0) in SCRIPT_COMMAND_TALK for script id 9962. Am i missing something? Thanks

  8. lildudespider said Dec 30, 2008 at 7:43 am

    Finally fixed the issue :D
    i shall share the solution
    in SQLYog i was usign alter table, used button view data
    i also used a batch file example posted by another user

    thank you soo much for the batch file

    setrealm.bat
    mysql -u”user” -p”password” < setrealm.txt
    pause

    setrealm.txt
    USE `realmd`; INSERT `realmlist` SET `name` = ‘realmname’, `address` = ‘127.0.0.1′;
    SELECT * FROM `realmlist`;

    sorry about this, but my realmd will still not load the realm from the database, it keeps saying no realsm to load, i followed all of your advice and changed the realm name, my ports are all forwarded properly and arcane fire version worked fine, are there any other steps to creating a realm in sqlyog, thanks in advance
    also can somone post a list of steps needed to creat the realm, every other part of my server works perfectly

    and i cud make them play emotes like kneel or dance using admin commands but they wont stay like that. how can u make that permanent?

    @Womble
    Glad to help :D

    @Teg
    Reaper always appreciates comments like these :)

    @Courtex0
    As far as I know nobody in the Reaper-X Team has tested it on a Windows 2K3 server. Though I will try to look into it.

    @Dan
    Ya I would try to follow lildudespider’s guide or else COMPLETELY erase and uninstall MySQL from your computer and reinstall following these steps closely. http://www.reaper-x.com/2007/06/27/mysql-installation-and-configuration-setting-up-private-wow-server/

    @lildudespider
    Ya you are going to have to manually install a Realm using either SQLYog or Navicat as Wrath and x0mbie said.

    @Alar
    They should be coming soon becaue MaNGOS released support for 3.03 the other day and Trinity isn’t far behind though Oatman and Reaper will probably be waiting until the soon-to-be-released from Blizzard 3.08 patch comes out (and is supported by Trinity).

    @wrath
    Thats good to here man (about the guide). I love it when people help put the community.

    @ lildudespider

    If I remember correctly there is no realm installed in the realm table when you execute the realmd.sql file. You have to go in there and manually add one. Its easy cause everything is self explanatory. Just add a name and use 127.0.0.1 as the ip.

  16. wrath said Dec 29, 2008 at 10:34 pm

    If anyone noticed by now you have to delete all Mysql folders if you are going to reinatll mysql so that it becomes a fresh intstall.

  17. wrath said Dec 29, 2008 at 10:32 pm

    lildudespider, you may wanna look into your realmd, realmlist and add the realm into the database. Sorry havent been on much guys. Will be on most of the day and will be glad to help anyone with any questions. To Colt45, I will be working on proper instructions and pictures this week if I can. thanks

  19. lildudespider said Dec 29, 2008 at 8:01 pm

    hey guys, i am havign issues adding and loading realms in the new mangos
    i know my way around the config files pretty well
    ive tried the method where i run previous versions batch files and it did not work, when i run realmd it says no realms loaded or somthing
    ive also tried loading the realms manually through sqlyog, is there somthing i am missing in the config files?

  20. lildudespider said Dec 29, 2008 at 7:58 pm

    you have not installed all of the .net frameworks
    that is why you are getting the application error
    install .net framework 1, 2, 3 and 3.5 and update via windows update
    this method fixes your error

  21. lildudespider said Dec 29, 2008 at 7:56 pm

    your mysql server is not running, type net start mysql in run
    if mysql appears and stays in task manager than try again
    if you are having problems getting mysql to stay up, uninstall, search c: drive for mysql, delete everything, then go to regedit, search mysql, delete everything then reinstall mysql, this method works 100% of the time

    Quick question guys. I’ve been running the new system on my XP machine successfully for the past week, so I decided to remove Mangos from my Win2k3 server and run Trinity on it. The problem I have is when I try to run either Trinitycore.exe or TrinityRealm.exe I get the error “This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.” Any ideas on what may be causing this? Is there anyone here who is able to run Trinity on a Windows 2K3 server?

  24. Teg said Dec 29, 2008 at 2:08 pm

    Hey reaper, good to see you are well again.

    I’ve been away for a while as well and looking foreward to updating/upgrading my server to support wotlk. I’m in no hurry as far as waiting for your relase, as long as its stable, I’m a happy camper. :) keep up the good work and remember, sometimes its nice to actually go outside once in a while (you guys put a lot of hours into what you do, and it its appreciated) :)

  25. Womble said Dec 29, 2008 at 11:20 am

    Colt45,

    thanks that was the problem, I only had one account setup!! This is my first server so I am learning fast. Have altered the trinitycore to set the GM start to 1 now.

    Thanks for the tip,

    cheers,

    Womble

  26. Colt45 said Dec 29, 2008 at 12:14 am

    You probably are logging into a Gm account and have the config file set so that GMs start at 70, which is a feature of Trinity. If you log into a normal account (non-GM or above) then it will not do this. So change it under the GM Commands in the conf file to level 1 and try again though you may have to dig around a bit to find the GM settings in the Conf file.

  27. Womble said Dec 28, 2008 at 8:58 pm

    I too am getting chars starting at lvl70? Even when i change the trinitycore to have them start at 1 or 2 they always start at 70…

    How can i get new chars to start at lvl 1?

    -Tweexter-

    To move your character’s over try this. So far I’ve had no problems with any of my toons.

    I would just follow the directions on pervious Reaper-X MaNGOS releases because Trinity is basically the same and just have more fixed issues and better stability.

  31. Yachiru said Dec 28, 2008 at 9:00 am

    When will we get the instructions for this cause I’ve never used Trinity before only Reapers that have most the stuff done already so I have no idea how to set this one up

  32. Tweexter said Dec 28, 2008 at 6:00 am

    Hmmm so importing the database wasn’t such a good idea then. I’m guessing I need everyone on my server to start all over? New accounts and all…
    Can I go in and purge what I have so far or will it not make any difference.

    There is no way i can upgrade to this version ?

    Hey again guyz good to see you still is working on it .. i’d been sending a lot of “contacts” asking if you where doing a new for 3.0.3 or 3.0.8

  38. Oatman said Dec 27, 2008 at 11:15 pm

    #Tweexter

    Thats because we don’t support upgrades from versions before Rev:1 of Reaper-X Trinity.

  39. Tweexter said Dec 27, 2008 at 11:30 am

    Well it starts up just fine, i try to log into my account, and I get this:
    TC> SQL: SELECT id, gmlevel, sessionkey, last_ip, locked, sha_pass_hash, v, s, e
    xpansion, mutetime, locale FROM account WHERE username = ‘TWEEXTER’
    query ERROR: Unknown column ‘expansion’ in ‘field list’
    WorldSocket::HandleAuthSession: Sent Auth Response (unknown account).

    Is this talking about my account not being set for expansion or what?

  40. Tweexter said Dec 27, 2008 at 11:00 am

    I’m still extracting Vmaps and whatnot right now, when i did the initial install i put my char backup file into install folder and did the restore function, no errors at least. We’ll see once I get into game.

  41. Oatman said Dec 27, 2008 at 9:32 am

    Do not even try to update from Arcane Fire that was not a supported release. It was its own branch of Arcane. Reaper-X is adopting this new release for its official core support from now on. So from now on with this release you will be supported.

  42. courtex0 said Dec 27, 2008 at 7:11 am

    Ok, for reasons unknown to me (maybe length?) it won’t let me post regarding the moving of your characters from Mangos to Trinity. I just replied to a post in the forums, so here’s a link, hope this helps! http://forums.reaper-x.com/topic/upgrading-from-arcanefire-reaperx-repack-to-oatmans-trinity?replies=2#post-8127

  43. Colt45 said Dec 27, 2008 at 7:05 am

    @Tweexter
    Hey man I would suggest that you always backup your databases before you convert over so if there is a problem then you still have the old one to have open so your friends can play on until the new core is running correctly.

    @Yachiru
    Reaper or Oatman will have to answer this for you because if Trinity chooses to release the client version to there will DEFINATELY be some errors and the stable version will take a while to come out which (depending on if Oatman and Reaper would choose to release an unstable version) would lead to them making a choice of LESS-WAIT UNSTABLE or WAIT-A-WHILE STABLE versions.

  44. courtex0 said Dec 27, 2008 at 6:55 am

    Ok, for some reason I;ve posted this twice and it has yet to show up, so here goes again.
    Tweexter – Hopefully I can explain this well enough. I’m using SQLYog, so some of my instructions may not be exact.
    I’ve found you can do a data only (No tabels) backup of your Characters Database, (minus the actual characters. The tables don’t match up so they don’t import properly) and save it to Characters.sql. Import that data into your current characters database by clicking on File – Open and then selecting your Characters.sql file. When you do that the information will show up in the SQL Query window. Click the double green arrow (execute all queries) and that will import all of your characters data. (Armor, bank etc…)
    Once you’re done with that then you get to add your characters into the database manually. In your old database your character is assigned a GUID, and all of your characters informationa nd equipment is tied to that GUID. When you manually add the character to the database make sure you use the old GUID, or else you’ll have a naked tune with no cash or bag items. It can be really tedious depending on how many toons you have. Hopefully this helps! I really suggest you setup a new server on another machine, move everything over and test it before you take the old server down. Also, I strongly suggest that before you do ANYTHING to either server run a FULL Backup (Tables and Data).
    I’m currently testing it now, so I’ll let you know if I run into any errors!

Will I be able to migrate all my character data to the new database and have it be function? Got a lot of friends playing on my server so it would suck to have to start all over.
