Oatmans’ Wrath of the Lich King Release! Revision:1

Well its finally here! Sorry that it took me about two months to finally get around to making it but our first Wrath of the Lich King Server is now here and supports Revision: 8788 of the WotLK Beta Client! This release operates on top of the MaNGOS Kernel using the UDB Database. With about 3,585 lines of code added into the MaNGOS Core Wrath of the Lich King is now officially supported into the Reaper-X Family and Discussion Board!

Installation Instruction:
1. Run Oatmans’ WotLK Installer.bat from Oatman’s WotLK Database directory and continue with the installation until finished
2. Edit Mangosd.conf and Realmd.conf especially at below parts to point to the correct database name using your mysql password and username:
Note:
– Replace wotlk_usr to your mysql username
– Replace mangos to your mysql password
– Replace wotlk_realmd, wotlk_world, wotlk_characters to point to the correct database name that is used on the installation process
– Replace Datadir to the full path of your extracted DBC files and maps files from WOTLK (if you put the dbc directory and maps in the same directory of mangos, then there’s no need for you to change it)

Other Notes (thanks to LoLz Guy):
#1 To run mangos.exe you have to edit mangos.conf and delete some spaces (if there are too many) or other things that dont fit there…
#2 To make your databases work you have to use a mysql gui program (like navicat or sqlyog) and execute batch files to characters and realmd tabs.
#3 To make a Death Knight you have to manually edit the database (using navicat sqlyog or sometjing like that) and in the realmd in account table change your accounts “tbc” thingie from 0 to 2 or from 1 to 2 (I couldn’t do it in mangos.exe commands, as it was blocked or something).
BTW the Death Knight class starts at the race start place, has no abilities, and there is NO WOTLK CONTENT AT ALL…
Important Note from Oatman:
Currently this repack doesn’t have any NPC’s on Northrend although he (Oatman) said that he’ll add NPC’s later on the next revision (Revision 2) and probably some other things as well :) … and as he said before on the comment area, he is currently busy with various things as well and so he sent me the download link yesterday via email

@trey make sure you are using 3.0.3 8788 beta.. im not sure that it will work with anyother release of WoW as the maps and vmaps will be diffenent.. other then that what errors are you getting? what is hanging you up to have a working server… btw this revision basically only implements the new gui features and northrend.. there are no spawns there as of yet… your best bet would be to run oatmans trinity core.. for 2.4.3 as he will be patching it up to 3.0.8 and beyond…

have you changed realmlist.wtf to your server ip? or 127.0.0.1 if you are hosting on the same computer change both the realmlist and the patch list… you might have to get the beta client because this revision was made for the beta.. im not sure if the maps and vmaps are the same.. if your wanting to play wotlk content.. wait for the trinity release from oatman and colt45.. as this revision doesnt have any mobs, npcs or spawns in northrend… the 2.4.3 server works pretty well.. you’d have to downgrade your client to 2.4.3 tho… best of luck..
OK NVM i fixed that and now my server works fine, but whenever i log on to an account, it says i have to patch up and restart WoW. Now, this version supposedly supports revision 8788 of the beta client, but i have revision 8874 of the real client! How do I make this work?
OK – so i looked at some other ppls problems and i STILL cant fix it. Heres what i did:
I changed the file name to Oatmans WotLK Release #1. I pretty much just erased the apostrophe from the file name but it didnt work for me.
I am having trouble with my Mangosd.exe . I am unable to open the file completely. When i open it, it closes in about .5 seconds. I have opened this many times and have seen the error message:
“DOTCONF++: file ‘C:\Documents and Settings\Evan Coleman\Desktop\Oatmans’ WotLK Release #1\mangosd.conf’ line 504:unterminated quote
Could not find configuration file mangosd.conf”

hay i could explain this to you but you would be better off waiting for the masters to compleat the working version of this man. theres absoulty no content working in this realeas trust me it will be worth the wait. have you at least installed mysql and have that working?
it should be stright froward if you got that far where you see the edit mangno.cfg or what ever you just switch the wotlk password to likelly root root. if thats what you have set up mysql to use as your user dont know about navicat but i use hidisql myself and you just half to use the find on this page and search this form thread for what they said about connecting try death night its on here and they said it as it is but like they say theres no npc no new contnet quests and stuff were all waiting for a soon to be release. i would recomemnd you installing the trinity 2.4.3 version then if you can get that working it will be super easy to update cause they stated that they will release the Wotlk as a update and you wont half to compleatly start over again (what i gathered from what i read)i would like to give you more detaled walkthru on exactaly how this is dont but i think that it would be any point cause buy the time you get it running you half to wipe it all out and start from scratch anyway. OK let’s assume that I know absolutely nothing about how to set up a private server. I have all the required files the wotlk rev1 release and the beta loaded on my PC. Could someone please explain to me in detail how I go about setting it up, editing the realmd.cfg and the mangos.cfg in detail exactly what I need to change and where in the cfg I need to do it. Then explain to me how I use Navicat to compile it all so it works. A year ago I had a private server set up and it worked fine and it seemed the setup was easier but this is frankly confusing me. Please please scan anyone do this for me I would be eternaly grateful.

Ok guys, I am totally going to go back to Reaper’s old way of releasing update packs, by doing it weekly. I am going to start back with 2.4.3 and whenever MaNGOS/Trinity Releases a (STABLE) Core and Database I will release to you guys my public version of 3.0.8. *Yes I said 3.0.8*
I would release it but after testing with FaTe its too buggy and all you guys would do is complain about how all this certain stuff doesn’t work and how the game is missing certain content. So I am going to start the normal releases’ again where you guys can update your old release every week with new content and bug fixes. Whenever a 3.0.8 is released, I will roll that out. Sorry if this is a disappointment, but to others of you, this is good news to have a stable and a genuine core you can count on. :)

Awesome. NP. Just make sure you get the latest Quice tool. But the thing i like about Quice, is that when you searching for something, You type like a Part of the name and it pops up then what you want. It gives you all the Info on the spell,item,or even quest. Then besides that, with that info you can change it. Its fun. I made some weapons with 2000 haste, 10000 DMG. i just ran through BT and all the other stuff.
right on i just like playing with server stuff. mind you i should learn to use a spell checker before posting. i cant even understand half the points i was trying to throw around.. thanks for the advice though evok3r.

You must try using Quice Tool. Its a great tool that helps you with making and editing all the items in the world,quests, Npc’s, spell, etc. I used the quice tool to make my own Mall on WoW. Its rather much work but it kept me busy.
lol the dbs only work with certain cores so you can’t use the new db with the old core sheesh
uh the frozen databse is a german db considering most of the db is written in german and is missing lots of informations
so i know how to use sql. what i want to know udb ok is this the server version (i seen it before) where you just run around and npcs have no magic and what not. Basically what i want to try. I have 6245 running with project silvermoon dbc. anyone tried to running the the new server wotlk with the silver moon dbc on it. i like when they use magic. and moust of the quest in release are pritty much 90% working (6245). so i can at least force compleat quests and what not using mysql. now what i would like to know does this mangos of the Wrath of the litch king. have all the content in there already like NPC and QUESTS and but its just not set up in the sql data bases and basically anyone could just add all the content them selves or is it more like a emu project and the mangos.exe has to be edided it self so we cant try try things our selves woulden mind trying out some thing but if its more then just changeing and sifting through the serverdata base basically yeah saying that im not going to bother learning coded to recompile the server. LONG STORY SHOT can we all just add everything into the server or does the mangos.exe also half to be recompiled to allow the new content.
post addendum. adding npc like they said there not there yet there for does some dude half to run around as gm .addnpc at this location. off to the next then manually place scripts and shit for each indiviual spawn. herm dont mind me im just thinking too hard
Hmmmm… Oatman, why don’t you release only the database?? I’m sure some of us could manage without your core, and you could release the core when it’s ready. But if you don’t want to then don’t do it, it was only a suggestion.

Ugh!!!! It doesn’t work on 3.0.3 for me! Mangosd says there’s been an error in the dbcs. Are you sure this is for 3.0.3? If it really is, there is one criteria that, if redone, could fix my problem:
1. I don’t really complete my ad.exe downloading, I just wait until it says “done extracting 225″(or some number in the 200s) “DBC files.” and then i close ad.exe

Btw, if anybody is interested, Frozen Database is really good, get the SVN version and it comes with a core (mangos and realmd). So you just import the sql files manually, set the mangos like you would with reaper, and just play. Unfortunately, not everything in lich king is working, especially the instances, but Death Knight is working well except for stuff like army of the dead, and the DK starting location has almost all the quests in, other than that it’s pretty stable. Also try roadmin.net who come with their own core, they also have put in Tier 7 Hero’s Gear which is pretty cool. So until Reaper comes out with his version, these work pretty good. But DON”T FORGET REAPER’S VERSION IS THE BEST. :)
