Oatmans’ Wrath of the Lich King Release! Revision:1

Well its finally here! Sorry that it took me about two months to finally get around to making it but our first Wrath of the Lich King Server is now here and supports Revision: 8788 of the WotLK Beta Client! This release operates on top of the MaNGOS Kernel using the UDB Database. With about 3,585 lines of code added into the MaNGOS Core Wrath of the Lich King is now officially supported into the Reaper-X Family and Discussion Board!

Installation Instruction:
1. Run Oatmans’ WotLK Installer.bat from Oatman’s WotLK Database directory and continue with the installation until finished
2. Edit Mangosd.conf and Realmd.conf especially at below parts to point to the correct database name using your mysql password and username:
Note:
– Replace wotlk_usr to your mysql username
– Replace mangos to your mysql password
– Replace wotlk_realmd, wotlk_world, wotlk_characters to point to the correct database name that is used on the installation process
– Replace Datadir to the full path of your extracted DBC files and maps files from WOTLK (if you put the dbc directory and maps in the same directory of mangos, then there’s no need for you to change it)

Other Notes (thanks to LoLz Guy):
#1 To run mangos.exe you have to edit mangos.conf and delete some spaces (if there are too many) or other things that dont fit there…
#2 To make your databases work you have to use a mysql gui program (like navicat or sqlyog) and execute batch files to characters and realmd tabs.
#3 To make a Death Knight you have to manually edit the database (using navicat sqlyog or sometjing like that) and in the realmd in account table change your accounts “tbc” thingie from 0 to 2 or from 1 to 2 (I couldn’t do it in mangos.exe commands, as it was blocked or something).
BTW the Death Knight class starts at the race start place, has no abilities, and there is NO WOTLK CONTENT AT ALL…
Important Note from Oatman:
Currently this repack doesn’t have any NPC’s on Northrend although he (Oatman) said that he’ll add NPC’s later on the next revision (Revision 2) and probably some other things as well :) … and as he said before on the comment area, he is currently busy with various things as well and so he sent me the download link yesterday via email

Will users on this type of server HAVE to have this beta version installed to use the server or will they be able to log in normally.

I’ve recently been using another repack for the 8788 client, but it’s missing DK quests and mobs in the Northrend. Also the dbc files had to be extracted from 8770 and used with the 8788 maps.
I was wondering if this is going to be the case with rev.1?

Good choice with the version of the beta, it’s usable both in old and new worlds, and there are points of travel defined.
For the few needing the final patch, just try to log into the beta, and the final patch will be downloaded.
Looks quite cool so far, I’m ready to pounce on a server and getting the thing airborne.

With this release, will there be npcs, mobs & quests at northrend?
I do already using a wotlk mangos release on my servers, and it’s only a few places, like larger cities that have npcs and no transports in or to northrend are working.
Hope your release is better, but mine is still not bad, since Death Knight is working pretty nice.

So this alpha release would be based on standard MaNGOS + your patches? or does MaNGOS already have support for the client prebuild?
As I did the last time, I’m still going to require a build of my own, due to my crappy CPU on the server. So would the source, in case you make it, be released as well?
UDB, SD2 – Of course, WoTLK has some differences and additions. Will the release still be compatible with the current MaNGOS, SD2 files, and will we be able to merge the data with the “official” UDB/SD2 releases?
I wouldn’t mind doing some manual work on the SQL layer if that is required, nor would I mind mingling in the source code if that is required too. But that’s probably the few of us that would be capable of doing that.
Let us know when you have more info and when we can expect to give it a try, working or not, it’s going to be fun trying.

But I do have a question.
Will this be able to be upgraded from the 5953 release and not lose Character data? Or will this need to upgraded in steps. And if so, what would be the best way?
I downloaded the beta about 2 weeks ago just incase you were able to complete the release.

Remember guys when I release revision one its going to be buggy. Although, after a couple of revisions it should become pretty stable.

i downloaded the beta client from here about 2-3 weeks ago…its a direct link to the download 1.88 GB and the install won’t affect your retail WoW its a whole separate folder a little over 9 gigs
when u download it and install it, make a new folder on the drive that you want it on called WotLK Beta and install it there

I think that there should be some links to the client and necessary patches download… Best if they were torrent downloads, but rapidshare or something would be good too.

and most importantly, mobs/quests in northrend?
I have one problem, I found the lich king downloader, but the patching process stops at 8770 and I don’t know how to get to 8788. If anyone can find that it would be greatly appreciated if they can share.

Arcane fire will continue to be supported. There will also be an option to upgrade arcane fire to my Wrath of the Lich King Releases.

Can I ask you,you still support arcane-fire revision,you have plan update it in future? Asking this as I had never problem setup my server with your guide,so if there would be change arcane-fire get later update,I rather wait put my new revision to my server,you realesed update for it .
