      I like may others am having problems with ad.exe. This is my first time with MaNGOS. This is WinXP SP 2 with WoW client 2.4.3. I have MySQL running and loaded. I have copied the provided ad.exe program to the WoW installation directory and created a maps directory. When I run ad.exe, I get a Visual C++ debug assertion failed message. The assertion occurs in read.c, line number 144. There are no output files in the maps directory.

      I have tried downloading and running the previous version of ad.exe. That version runs to 41% completion, creates 642 output files, and fails.

      Where can I get a version of ad.exe that works with WoW client 2.4.3?

      Thanks.

      I am running a server with about 10 people on it, so I really love the AHBot. I recently updated my server to Reaper-X UR1 Arcane-Fire for WoW Client (2.4.3) and it works well. The only problem I seem to have, is that AHBot is no longer filling my AH. I have it set to create 50000 items every hour, but it only seems to generate about 7000 or so, and it’s the same exact number every time. I had this number noted somewhere, but can’t find it. So I’m wondering, how do I fix this?

      Yea I did that but didnt work. Now i just moved the folders into the folder with mangosd.exe, and typed DataDir = “.” now i works just fine. But something that has irritated me for some time. I don’t remember if it’s possible to add Training points or loyalty to pets? If anyone knows I would be thankful

    8. Sloppy said Aug 25, 2008 at 6:42 pm

      ->nib
      Solution:
      Move your maps, vmaps, and dbc folders from your wow directory to your Mangos Data directory.
      Then, go in your mangos.conf file and find the DataDir = “.” and replace it with it’s actual location for example:
      DataDir = “C:\MaNGOS\Repack-Arcane-Fire\Data”

      im very new to this,thank you very much for the clients.

      but i just installed this client and when i start mangosd.exe I get this message:

      Check existing of map file ‘./maps/0004331.map’: not exist!
      Correct *.map files not found in path ‘./maps’ or *.vmap/*vmdir files in ‘./vmap
      s’. Please place *.map/*.vmap/*.vmdir files in appropriate directories or correc
      t the DataDir value in the mangosd.conf file.

      I got the VMAPS folder inside the Mangos folder just as the readme says, anyone who can solve the problem?

      That sounds very similar to the same issue i’m having. Still doesn’t explain why it worked one day and then next it went to what you’re experiencing…

    11. sloppy said Aug 24, 2008 at 12:58 am

      small problem not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if there’s a step I overlooked. Installed on a linux machine using wine and using mysql5.0 and I’m connecting to that server from a different machine. Realmd loads everything up correctly Mangosd loads up fine. I opened the ports on the router and linux firewall. realmlist in the game file is set to the server’s ip. When I run the game it goes to the realmlist and it shows up but when I click on the MaNGOS realm it goes back to the realmlist screen and I can’t get passed it. any ideas?

      @Mixudjinn the bugfix takes care of that, i had same issue.

      -

      I am having a new issue now, for some reason all computers that connect to my server including the game on the localhost can put in user/pass and game will go through connecting, authenticating, etc but then just hang on Connected. game isn’t frozen but when I look at mangosd it doesn’t show any activity at all. Is this an issue with the realmd? the mangosd? MySQL? Just to help with troubleshooting I already uninstalled SQL and deleted everything to do with SQL and then reinstalled whole thing, matrix code and all. then just restored my characters.
      I will admit this was after I was trying to install the Mangos Front End website thing from their page… since then i’ve deleted all traces of that mess too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Okay so I tried to do this whole update thing and evidently I did a lot wrong. So I am trying to do the fresh install now. For whatever reason my MySQL is going FUBAR on me. No matter what I cannot start the service anymore, i’ve uninstalled it many times and reinstalled it per the guide. Running Vista64Ultimate and it worked for a few weeks so far until I tried to do this update, any ideas?

    20. Dagoth69 said Aug 20, 2008 at 1:20 am

      Okay, I got it installed, got the new maps,dbc, and vmaps copied over, and got mangos started(had to use the fix). I restored my character data and logged in, all my chars were there on the realm, but then when I logged in, the mangos came up with a series of log errors about hte character and DC’d me, when I logged in again, the realm SAID 10 characters, but I can’t see any of them, and the mangos server is showing an error log about coding for the characters and then “will no be displayed” next to each and every one of them. I can’t even create a new character, it does the same thing. any advice? (i know i’m a little vague, I’m at work right now so I can’t look at the server to give exact error, hoping maybe you’ve seen this and know what I’m talking about)

    26. Stumpyy said Aug 13, 2008 at 11:33 pm

      The release I have created is done through the recompile of the source as described by Reaper-X.

      What I did was to install the arcane fire download and the patch supplied, then I downloaded the entire source and recompiled with the SSE flag not set, using the VC 2008 iso installed image.
      I then extracted all dbc, maps and created vmaps for the collision detect using the tools from the arcane fire download.

      I was forced to do this, due to my server being a little old, Duron 850 Mhz CPU with Windows 2000 Server and 768 MB Memory.

      It works very nice. I have an internal LAN ping of 19 and don’t seem to have any lag issue. Of course, I am still just playing around, and haven’t had any users on-line, just a few testers.

      ok, I have about pounded my head off a wall and am posting for help. I had a runnig 2.4.3 three days ago. I went to make it live and did something wrong. Now I get the no characters problem. New at this with new server nothing to lose by wiping and staring over but not sure where everything is kept.

    30. Stumpyy said Aug 13, 2008 at 4:30 am

      Update and HUGE smile :))

      MaNGOS/0.12.0-SVN (Revision 6455) (Win32,little-endian)

      works now.

      I recreated the entire setup, including extraction of maps, dbc and vmaps, as well as recompiling to the latest MaNGOS release available.

      I still seem to have the exact same errors in the database sections, but it seems the server is indeed running.

      One other small difference – I removed a space from within my realm name – could that be the cause of the initial problem. – it’s possible at least. Anyway, up and running, thanks for at least listening to my griefing.

    31. ian said Aug 13, 2008 at 2:07 am

      yeah, i have the same problem as will.. there are no tables inside “characters”, so when i go to create a character, it freaks out and says “CHARACTERS.CHARACTERS DOESN’T EXIST OMG OH NO” and then no characters show up because there’s no place to put them. i would appreciate it if someone could post the solution to this in the comments to make it easier for others because i think a lot of other people have been having this problem as well.

    32. MValkar said Aug 13, 2008 at 2:01 am

      The problem is I wish to keep my accounts and characters a fresh install will wipe them wont it?

    33. Stumpyy said Aug 13, 2008 at 12:30 am

      Yes, I am figuring it’s a problem with the database layout – haven’t reached a point where I have anything working yet, but I hope I will get there soon.

      My problem is I can’t use the prebuild executables, due to my lack of an SSE instruction set. So I am building a new exe file and as a result I am most likely using a different version than what Colt45 made.

      No worries though. I’m starting over and trying this again, this time I’m going to make sure the database is not showing any errors and going to make sure that my client is running without any firewall.

      I did try one of the “competition” projects, and made it work a little better, though I still didn’t get beyond the character create. Just to prove to myself that firewalls shouldn’t be the issue. – another 12 hours spend fiddling.

      oh, btw! Reaper/Colt45 – great documentation and desciptions, it’s easy to work from the instructions for me.

      I’ll be back later when I’ve got another one running.

      Hi, I had the same problem… I fixed it by going to the fresh install folder, opend the arcane fire.bat, chosen option 1 and installed it again, worked for me. hope it works for you to

      got the same error as robmacloud, ran the fix and it seemed to be OK, But I have the same issue as Stumpy I can log in but get kicked back to realm select I have the Mangos realm but when I select it it flashes logging into realm and kicks me back out. I did extract my DBs and Maps for my client and all seemd to be well. If I cancel it dumps me to character select with no characters and no button to create character.

    36. Justin said Aug 12, 2008 at 5:26 am

      Yeah, I’ve got to agree with Bear. So much stuff has changed since the prior releases that a new guide would be helpful. Since extracting all the maps and stuff seems to have changed an updated guide for that would help too.

    37. Bear said Aug 11, 2008 at 10:39 pm

      Is there a chance someone can make a guide? I’m not understanding how to install this release, so used to reading the previous guide but all the steps have changed and what not and now I’m confused.

      Just ran update and needed patch, as everyone pointed out. The patch ran ok, but with one error message at the end:

      Tried running realmd, mangosd on the client and the mysql on the server – same result and logfiles.

      Even tried the original builds running on the client with the mysql being external – exactly the same result (the originals do work on the amd x2 64).

      I’m out of ideas. …

    40. Stumpyy said Aug 11, 2008 at 9:31 pm

      Extracting the dbc, maps and vmaps did not yeld any difference. Compiling using the vc90 did however show a completely different exe file. Huge size difference.

      Everything, including the log files, however give the exact same result.

      I can login through Realmd.exe – I can get in contact with mangosd.exe (with set realmname) but am thrown back to realm select, which is blank …

      Could it be that sse is indeed required in some wierd module – and why doesnt that generate an invalid instruction exception. – Perhaps I should try to run the entire thing on a more recent cpu (got a few AMD X2 64).

      I’ll try to switch environment but keep the database server as a dedicated.

    42. Stumpyy said Aug 11, 2008 at 5:05 pm

      I’m playing around with the UR1 release, but have hit a couple of bumps on the road. Maybe some of you have a similar problem or can direct me to where I made a mistake.

      Here’s the details:

      Fresh installed UR1 and the patch – yep, I saw the creature template issue – nothing unexpected.

      When I try to run mangosd and ralmd they just quit without any logs or error messages. – Soo, I think, SSE instruction set is a no go for me, as I have a pretty old dedicated server (AMD Duron!) that I use. So I opted for a recompile of the entire project.

      Recompiled using Visual Studio 2005 (VC80).

      mangosd is MaNGOS/0.12.0-SVN (Revision 6446) (Win32,little-endian)
      realmd is MaNGOS/0.12.0-SVN (Revision 6446) (Win32,little-endian)
      MySQL server ver: 5.0.51b-community-nt

      I’ve extracted the maps and dbc myself using the tools from previous releases i.e. I used an older ad.exe with the 2.4.3 database.

      When I try to connect from a clean install of the client (fully patched of course), I can’t see the realm I created, but login works.

      If I change the Config.wtf to include SET realmName “myrealmname” then it tries to connect, but I am thrown back to the select realm which is empty.

      The last world.log entries are:
      SERVER:
      SOCKET: 764
      LENGTH: 17
      OPCODE: SMSG_REALM_SPLIT (0×038B)
      DATA:
      FF FF FF FF 00 00 00 00 30 31 2F 30 31 2F 30 31
      00

      SERVER:
      SOCKET: 764
      LENGTH: 1
      OPCODE: SMSG_CHAR_ENUM (0×003B)
      DATA:
      00

      I do get some DBErrors in the startup process which might point to the problem, hence I am working my way through eliminating some of those too.

      My server is separate from my client, but the server runs both the sql and the realmd and mangosd daemons.

      My current projected plans are extracting the dbc and maps again, using the latest tools. And recompile realmd and mangosd using VC90.

      It’ll take a few hours before I get to that point, but if someone could spot an obvious mistake, please hit me with a stick.

    43. iCE said Aug 11, 2008 at 10:50 am

      @Dan

      not sure if anyone else has responded to you but, I think I see your problem…your realmd.cfg should look something like this:

      LoginDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;root;mangos;realmd”
      LogsDir = “C:\WowServer\Logs”
      MaxPingTime = 30
      RealmServerPort = 3724
      BindIP = “192.168.0.2″

      The BindIP should be set to the internal IP of your server, the IP int he loginDatabaseInfo line should be 127.0.0.1 and should only be changed if you are running MySQL on another machine on your internal network. Your 65.12.178.100 would be the external IP of your cable or DSL modem. This is what the outside world would connect to.

      Now…if you do not have a router or other pc’s on a network at your house, your client would also be running on the same machine as the server and you’d need to use the 127.0.0.1 for your client. otherwise, if it’s another PC on your network, use the internal IP of the PC that your server is runing on. same one that you set your bindIP line to in the realmd.cfg.

      hope that helps.

      After some fiddling around it works like a charm!

      Some notes i wrote down during install where i made some mistakes which others may like to avoid
      - The fix from oatman should be applied after the SQL DB has been created (for fresh install this is after running arcane-fire.bat)
      - The characters table needs editing to avoid empty templates during startup (ref. comment solocommand above)
      a. run navicat
      b. connect to database (localhost, root, password)
      c. navigate to characters.tables.characters
      d. select designtable
      e. add field dungeon_difficulty as text
      - as always both mangosd.conf and realmd.conf require a manual password update when the password from SQL is not mangos. also don’t forget to change to the correct datadir path.
      DataDir = “C:\Reaper\Repack Arcane-Fire\Repack Arcane-Fire\Data”
      LoginDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;root;password;realmd”
      WorldDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;root;password;mangos”
      CharacterDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;root;password;characters”
