New Server Announced

Hello this is Colt45. For a while now the Oatman and I (with lots of advice from Reaper himself!) have been working on a new server. Below is a general picture of what our server will be based on:
Server Details:
- One (1) Realm (we hope to add more as the server grows)
- Blizzlike server (normal experience rates, drop rates, level cap set to seventy (70), etc.)
- Start at level one (1) like on most blizzlike servers :P
- We hope to be a lag-free server (with minimum down time also)
- Custom items, creatures, quests will be added and tested to work 100% before server opens!
- We hope to have scripted instances, quests, etc. (cannot guarantee)!
- Custom features (we cannot list any until we are sure that they will work)!
- Custom Events (this will be my favorite and if we are lucky we may be able to get the events scripted!)
- New spells (I hope to be able to add at least three (3) new spells for each class, but they will not all be just level seventy (70) spells either)!
- New Zones (Yes we plan to add custom zones, with maybe new quests and items)
So basically what we are looking at is a BLIZZLIKE server with a few added things to make it more enjoyable. Post your replies to let us know what you think and let us know of some REASONABLE ideas you may have (no items please)! The name will not be released for time being as we are not 100% that the server will ever be up.

you should have your own hardcore classes and make a new zone where everythings harder to kill with its own quests

Hmm not bad idea but it would mean modifying the mangos core a bit.
Here’s another thought I had that some people loved on the wow forums: when a Shaman dies and goes to collect its body, assumes the form of the ghost wolf. kinda like how a night elf turns into a wisp, all shamans would turn into a ghost wolf.
Not sure how difficult this one would be, but i’m sure more so than my mount idea.
I find this to make sense story-wise. We could say that it is the spirit of the wolf that caries the spirit back to the shaman’s body. Also, it is already ghostly, so that makes sense too.
Let me know what you think, and if you need any help with the server let me know that too.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am planning on having my first Repack of WotLK Tonight!

OH! more importantly, in the last few releases I have noticed that any custom items show up as question marks instead of their icons. Did you guys find a way to fix that as well?
Did you get the Escort quests fixed too? I remember them not working properly since I started using Mangos. And people who were supposed to walk around didn’t. For example, the Tauren in Southern Barrens (Gann, I think) just stands there; the ambassador group in Silvermoon doesn’t walk around and talk; and the children in SW walk after each other instead of run and he is walking behind her instead of she chasing him. (hehe my wife found those 2 annoying and wanted to delete them, but I said no)
Completly fixed on ours, I think that Oatman, me and a few other people will go through and test every quest, npc and stuff in the more popular areas first (then later as the server grows we will prolly test the others)
Epic plan! But in my own mangos server, a lot of quests are seriously bugged on my own server i can work aroun dit by adding the followup to my log using GM commmands, any idea how this will be on your server?
This is not exactly the place to ask about reaper-x mangos releases but yes UR1 has just been released!

Most classes gain new armor mail/plate and always takes time to get the drops to build a halfway good upgraded set of armor at 40.
If the XP goes faster than normal which it nearly always does on private servers, there is not enough time to build the new armor sets so people say forget that and just try to powerlevel through to 60 and upgrade to outlands armor.
I would think about throwing in a level 40 vendor that sells sets of level 40ish green armor mail/plate in particular at probably Gadgetzan.
I love the idea of lower level mounts and possibly faster mounts. Would it be possible to modify the mounts’ speed to be based on your riding skill instead of having it as a prerequisite and change riding skill to 5*player level (like max weapon skill). So you could make the speed increase given by your mount at 60% of riding skill (basically epic mount by level 34 and up to epic flying mount speed by 70).
Would it also be possible to implement faster flight paths or change it to teleportation to completely eliminate waiting for that gryphon ride?
High XP days are also a good idea for weekends.
I’d also like to see heroic pre TBC instances as mentioned above, with drops that provide gear tailored to cookie cutter PvE leveling specs.
I love the idea where weekends are like Ex extra days, cause it helps also when the kids are in school, or work. Helping to prevent skipping etc. Umm i LOVE the idea of mounts, roflmao. Mounts at level 15 be sick. Have to really modify the costs of the mounts then.

I LOVE IT!!! If its possible I will be sure to talk to Oatman about this!
Also I believe we can raise the exp rates on certain days (like maybe saturday because its the weekend and most people don’t work, school, etc.)but post and tell me which days are best for you! As far as mounts go for lvl 20, I think 15 would be better, because thats when you have to leave and explore more, and it will only be a small speed increase if we do add it! Also for people who hate leveling, Im sure we will have some events ready for you that will blow your mind, but is fun for everyone EXAMPLE: say we have a scourge army assault Stormwind, there could be like 7 waves for each level set (11-20,21-30,etc.), then 1 big mixed one for all levels, and just to make sure those punk *** high levels don’t steal kills from lower levels we cna prolly make it so that they cant attack the monsters unless they are in their level range (or make something lvl 80 elite pop out and rape them :P)!

sorry I didn’t mean “normal EXP now uncontested zones” I ment to say “normal EXP NO uncontested zones” and another thing if you give more then normal exp people will get bored with it and they miss alot of GREAT content.. some of the best instances are low lvl, that is why I am working on ALL instances to be heroic with custom gear to drop for example RFC is done and it drops 2 Pieces of custom gear for every class each piece of gear is for one spec like ICE spec for mage or demonolgy for locks and so on. I will be release the scripts for it all when I am done.

I am currently running a server with your guys repack and my guys love it I have 300 members and it is a FFA server but you can team across factions (I Love PVP) normal EXP now uncontested zones. and for outlands I changed the mounts around a bit so they can only fly for 1 min at a time with 1 min cooldown till they can fly again…wrote a script that says your mount is getting extremely tired from the massive load he is carrying. when that happens the mount glides down till it reaches the ground. I want to reinstate World PVP like old BLACK rock days…well keep up the great work it makes me happy and all my members, and YES it is expensive to run a server so guys donate to help them out if they do it. Sorry one last thing PLEASE release beta WOTLK we all want bad I quit wow because of you guys I enjoy this alot more and I really want to see a death knight. Peace out guys
i think that would be good that everyone can learn all primary skills.
