Reaper Mangos 5472 – Easy WoW Private Server for World of Warcraft 2.3.3

I think the previous release of Reaper Mangos that is released 1 month ago can be considered as outdate, and … so i decided that perhaps a new Reaper Mangos release for WoW 2.3.3 version probably will be better although there’ll be new patch coming up from Blizzard (based from the Blizzard announcement displayed on WoW Launcher) … but well … even if there’s new patch you can always revert back to 2.3.3 or create two world of warcraft directory just in case you also play on official server ;)
Like the previous release this new Reaper Mangos 5472 include auction house bot to automatically populate your Auction House with random items, and also multithreading maps that probably useful especially to those who are using dual core processor, and of course also contains the latest available Scriptdev (297), and World Database from UDB and PSDB (UDB 343 and PSDB X9) or in other words dual database and finally i also include the previous Custom Vendors just in case someone use it :)
But since there are too many changes too be listed from the last release, i’d suggest you to backup your character data first before running the upgrade process (to those who are upgrading their installation but if you’re installing for the first time, you can just ignore this), just in case something goes wrong :)

Fresh Installation Instruction:
1. Make sure your processor support SSE Instruction, if you don’t know what is SSE all about, you just need to know what processor you’re using (Open System Properties via Control Panel, or press Windows Key + Pause/Break) and basically if you’re …
- running at least Pentium 3 (Intel Processor)
- or running at least Athlon XP (AMD Processor) or newer AMD Duron series but not AMD Thunderbird
You don’t need to worry about it :)
2. Make sure you have .NET Framework Installed (grab it from Microsoft website) or you’ll get error message saying The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135) when you run it
Note: if you have fast connection speed you can choose to download the .NET Framework 3.5 (197 MB) instead of .NET 2.0 (22.4 MB)
3. When you have .NET Framework installed, all you have to do is just read my previous post about Reaper Mangos Installation Instruction (i’m really sorry i haven’t updated it yet to reflect the changes made since Reaper Mangos 5225)
But basically all you have to do to install it is just run reaper-x-mangos inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory, and then choose option 1 to install it, and then continue with option 4 to configure the data directory and you’re done :)
Upgrading Instruction:
1. Choose to upgrade from reaper-x-mangos menu
2. and then don’t forget to choose the current database you’re using in order to upgrade it
Important Note to those who are upgrading:
If you have made custom items, tele, etc. AND using PSDB as your database make sure that you backup the custom items, etc. first because it’ll overwrite your world database but if you’re using UDB as your database, then it’ll automatically gets upgraded (but to be safe, backup your custom items first)
Switching Database:
All you have to do is just choose option 7 on reaper-x-mangos and done :P … but please note, switching database will overwrite any custom items you’ve made
Misc. Section:
Set up Mangos as Windows Service:
In order to set up mangos to run as service (windows), all you have to do is just :
1. Open Command Prompt
2. Change directory to where mangosd.exe and realmd.exe can be found (for example C:\ReaperMangos5472) by typing :
cd C:\ReaperMangos5472
or
cd /d C:\ReaperMangos5472
3. and then to install the realmd.exe and mangosd.exe as service, you need to type these:
mangosd.exe -s install
realmd.exe -s install
to install it as windows service … or type …
mangosd.exe -s uninstall
realmd.exe -s uninstall
to uninstall / remove it from windows service
OR if you prefer a more direct way of doing it … you can type:
C:\ReaperMangos5472\mangosd.exe -s install / -s uninstall
directly without changing directory first
Well i hope i’ve covered it all and didn’t miss anything … but if you still have any question feel free to post your question below or at the forum :)
as a side note, the GM Commands page has been updated too, so don’t forget to check it out if you’re looking for the easiest way to lookup GM Commands in Mangos ;)
As a last note, if you get a virus alert from your Antivirus saying that reaper-x-mangos.exe is a Trojan, Suspicious File, Malicious File, etc. You can ignore that message, i guarantee that file is clean and that is a false alert / alarm generated by your antivirus software. And you can always send that file to your antivirus vendor so they can inspect that file directly

if you don’t want to wait for reaper to put it up and you can follow instructions on setting up your own binarys then head to http://www.mangosproject.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=23945

however if u do want to wait for reaper so its easy as ever for u, dont bother extracting maps and vmaps for 2.4, a new ad.exe was released as well as vmap extract so you will have to re extract them anyway when reaper comes out with a new one

Hi, this is great i have a few friends able to play on my server, waiting for more to downgrade :P, i just have a few questions if anyone can help me out, my first one is: can you really edit the world of warcraft map? the terrain levels or add/take away water from places and build buildings? if so how? and how can i know how many people can be on my server? thanks
I followed you instructions to the letter used MySql 5.0 etc.
But I was trying to set it up on a Machine Running Server 2003 and then tried Server 2000
But niether worked I set it up on my second Gamer which is running XP sp2 worked fine…
So I’m thinking it might be a Hardware issue as the PC I tried running it on with server 2000/2003 is an older box. So I’m good for now.. Sorry for not getting back sooner..

YO REAPER, i literally got to the last step of setting up the server; typing in the filepath for the data folder. mine was C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data
and guess what? it didn’t accept it ’cause there were spaces in the filepath..bunch of crap if u ask me. so, i did what it insisted on, created a folder at C:\Wow\Data, and guess what? it didn’t accept that either even though that’s the exact filepath it was asking for…YA MIGHT wanna look into that k? I’m not that mad, but i did waste an hour and a half getting that far..btw, update ur instructions too ’cause the new reaperx.exe file instructions differ a bit from ur original instructions. i’ll check back in a week or two..please get this fixed
ok, got a few questions…
1 is there any way to fix hunter pets? when they die, can’t seem to get them back again..i guess it happens with locks, but i don’t play a lock so idk.
2 i seem to have a problem with setting instances to heroic, in the past they were locked on heroic, but now its selectable, and the instance enterance changes to heroic, but no heroic drops…ie no badges or epics. did i miss something?
3 this is more of a side interest to me, as i use my server with a few friends to goof around on and experiment with enchants, gear, etc. but have been thinking of leaving retail to play with no drama. there’s not enough of us to do raids etc. so i was going to nerf the raids and try to make everything doable as a 5man grp, but would like to be able to create new enchants, recipies, crafting patterns, and maybe even upgrade a few spells. I don’t want to make things like god enchants, but reasonable things that retail just won’t have. i know i can use Quice to make items, but i don’t want to make just items, i’d like to make professions actually worth having. Creating a new faction to build rep with would also be something i’d be interested in.

So far you got karma points for me to recognize your hard work that shortens a lot of tweaking and effort for rest of us…
And with great wishes, just a two side notes:
1) When locale of MySql is different from installation default, your exe searches for index.xml in wrong folder (c:\mysql\\share\charsets\index.xml) all with ‘\\’ after mysql part of path. However, workaround is to make that folder and copy from MySql installation to that folder and it will work spendidly.
2) When changing to lan party it tries to write to realmd schema and not in “asked for” schema, (in my case mangos_realmd), no matter that it was correctly given at the start of exe. Workaround is to make adjustments to MySql manually or to rename schema, restart exe, rename schema back.

I have used the reaper mangos before and have experienced no problems. Then soon after installing it, my computer crashed and everything got deleted so I got it repaired, which took two months, and when i got my computer back I decided to get my private server back again. So i got it all back on perfectly and logged in alright but then my computer restarted itself in the middle of playing and when i tried to load up mangosd.exe or realmd.exe it said.
Could not connect to MySQL dayabase at 127.0.0.1: Can’t connect to MySQL server on ‘127.0.0.1′
Cannot onnect to world database 127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;mangos
And it gave me a similar response from SQLyog when i tried to access my server through it, saying that it can’t connect to ‘localhost’ with the same error code 10061.
Any ideas?

and u changed ur realmlist in ur wow folder to the realmlist u set in SQLyog?
and did u make sure u were running mangosd.exe and realmd.exe while connecting?

I know I am SO close to completing the set-up process. I followed all the steps (fumbled through a few of them) and finally got to the part where I log-in – and not it says unable to connect when I put in the username and password that I created…
I changed the realmlist as instructed…
Any idea where I may have gone wrong?

I am having a problem with one of the quests on Bloodmyst Isle called Razormaw. It’s recommended for 2 players. I can get the quest and the bones, and I even see smoke rising up, but I cannot find the eternal pyre to toss the bones into so I can summon Razormaw to cut him down. I’m running a private WoW server on a laptop. Not the Silvermoon database, but the other one. The specs on the laptop are:
Pentium M 2.13 GHz
1.00 GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon X600
I’d like to think that my laptop hardware is the issue, but I am unsure. Please advise, as I REALLY like this game.

Well I decided to mess with it a bit more to see if I could get it to work. I wanted to see if I could get it to work and to learn a bit more about how it works at the same time.
And guess what, I did a successful jump from 4875 to 5472. :) Within about a couple hours of messing around with it I got every single character to work. Now I know what to do if something comes up and I need to mess with the databases again.
The only reoccurring problem with my dumbed characters is that for some reason in the process the data in the data field was broken. It wouldn’t let me even see my characters on the selection screen until I fixed it. I found a quick and easy fix for it while attempting to make it work. If anyone is interested or has “broken” data in their data field just ask and I’ll post the solution.
I am still having the same problem with my server. Mobs that can attack while you are flying above them etc. They can “walk” into the air in order to get to you. Some walk into walls and dissapear. It seems like a vmaps issue but I have tried turning vmaps on and off. I have remade my vmaps folder. No change.
Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

Here is a small change on my last post.
the file that cannot be found is the “000_43_31.vmdir” file
The file “0004331.map” is in my “maps” folder, so no problem there.
Tried a lot of different things to make it work, like changing the \ into /, remaking maps and vmaps, change data dir, etc.
it just wont start when i set the Line of Sight or Hight values in the “.conf” to “1″
A tip for users with vista, try installing xampp. Im using it for the webserver and for the mysql dbases, and it works like a charm. Realy usefull and simple to maintain.
Hi and thanks a lot for the hard work and this 5472 repack with 2.3.3 works “almost” perfectly so thanks a ton for that.
If it’s almost perfect, that’s because arenas doesn’t seems to work.
When i try to go to any of them on BC i see the vendors, i can register teams but when i want to join a battle i can only choose between first available and warsong BG.
So do i need a patch to make them work or did i miss something ?

i have wow + tbc patched to 2.3.3 and whenever i run ad.exe it always fails at the same point (41%); is there an alternative?

its simple
go into SQLyog, then go to realmd then click on realmlist and the click the tab table data.
find the table that says reaper-x and change it to w/e u want it to be, then right above that table click the little floppy disk save button
Hi everyone! Do someone know how to change the name of the first realm i created? it is named reaper-x and i want the name Weiss Realm 1(blizzlike)
For some reason i can’t get past handshaking when connecting. I tried to connect and I left for a bit and when i came back it was still there after about 5 minutes. I am using wow version 2.4.1 (8125) so i changed common.h to support client build 8125 (I’m using my own binarys so I can still play retail). If anyone could help me that would be great =D.

Hi, the problem richard is having is probably the same problem i have.
I also figured out is must have had something to do with the Line of Sight.
Already tried to set the LOS in the CONF files to “1″, but after doing that the server wont start anymore. I’s missing the 0004331.vmdir
I did create the vmap folder and put it in the data dir. However, in this folder i cannot find the 0004331.vmdir file, only .vmap files (also 0004331.vmap).
i located .vmdir files in the maps folder, but no 0004331.vmdir.
Hope u understand what i mean, dont know how to explain it in a better way.
After searching through every forum here, i noticed it isn’t a often occuring problem, so there must be a solution to it.
I just cant figure what the problem seems to be..

Thanks for responding to my post. I was thinking of rebuilding the characters if jumping from 4875 to 5472 was too much bother. I think I might just go ahead and do that because I’m not exactly sure how much was changed from then till now. Would be nice if there was an easy way to jump version though. @Richard: the problem you are describing is almost certainly the Line of Sight issue addressed by the VMAPS. Did you create and add the VMAPS folder next to your MAPS folder? Make sure to check your CONF files I think there is also a switch to turn this VMAPS (line of sight) logic ON. Line of sight logic is what prevents mobs from attacking you through walls and places they ought to know is not in their logical range.
@BlueSteel: Lmao. Yes this is a problem in the database for several versions now. It’s most easily fixed by logging in as a GM and going to the noob starter areas and finding the hostile warlock trainer sidekick usually a level 52 imp flagged as hostile. Select him and type
.delete
That works for me anyway. There is a fix for it I think just switching from UDB to silvermoon DB may fix it? You could probably also figure out the ID of the imp mob they are using and default his level to 1 and smack him around when he goes aggro on people. I don’t have the SQL script that fixes this handy but one does exist.
@Zenn: Not sure what you are asking. But I know the character database changed format even on just the last release like going from version 5225 (whatever the immediate previous was) to 5472 so going from 4875 to 5472 would be what six or more updates probably half of those updated characters. Importing and adapting characters from that old of a version would be difficult I think.
If it’s just for personal play and a limited number of accounts/characters why not just fo a fresh install and log on a notepad or something which characters you had and just rebuild them all. It’s not tough to add items with the Mangos .lookup item commands and .additem so on. .level them to the right level give them some .money and go train them and replace their key items.
I can usually build out a complete new level 70 in 10 minutes at GM island, then tele to IF or Orgimmar and train him up and they are ready to raid.
Tried running the server on vista today, encoutered some little problems but with the help of others on this forum it worked out just fine.
If anyone still has questions about running it on vista i will be glad to help you.
Still have the problem with the enemies walking throug walls and standing IN the ground.
It would be great if i could solve this problem with your help.

First of all thanks to Reaper-x again for such a great job that he has been doing. Also thanks to informative and everyone else that is helping others in the forums. Much appreciated.
I was just wondering if anyone has spent a good amount of time messing with the data in the tables to figure out how everything works. I’m just curious because it’s been awhile since I’ve messed with them (meaning I haven’t touched them since Mangos 4875 was released). What I’m trying to do is jump from Mangos 4875 to 5472 by doing a fresh install and using my dumped data to import my information back into the tables. I’ve done it before and it worked great but it’s been awhile since I last did it. I know that the password column went from “I” to “sha_pass_hash” and “characters” changed to “character”, but I still can’t get my characters to appear on the selection screen. The reason I jump updates is cause I have dial-up and I hate downloading big files lol. If anyone can help with this I’d really like that, if not I guess I could try and go through the slow process of downloading and updating in order.
I still have my data dumped into a backup file so my data isn’t lost from me messing around lol. Well thanks in advance for the help.
To all those asking for 2.4 Mangos.
Reaper has to wait until the Mangos Project group (http://www.mangosproject.org/forum/) release the code for Mangos 2.4.
Their last time estimate was for a 2.4 release in about 4 weeks time. I’m sure Mr Reaper won’t be far behind ;)

Tried setting the vmap values to 1, but that results in errors during server startup.

Weiyan – sounds like you haven’t enabled your account for BC access. You’ll need to start up the mangosd.exe file to start the server. Once it finishes loading, you’ll need to type the following:
setbc accountname 1
Obviously replace accountname with your login account name. This will authorize your account for the expansion.
Hi All,
I have an issue that nobody else seems to have. I get mobs that can walk into hills etc, mobs that attack you when you are flying 20ft above them. I have had other problems but I am hoping that if I fix the big one all the others will go away too. I have tried reinstalling my client and rebuilding the maps, dbc and vmaps folders. Enabled vmaps, disabled vmaps, tried both databases, tried running with a fresh client. I have tried completely blowing everything away and starting again more than once, and still no luck. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is anyone else having problems downloading this? I’ve tried all 3 links on this computer and all stop around 95% saying source file could not be read. I thought it might be firefox bug so I tried fixing it as on mozilla’s site, but no effect. On occasions it does seem to download but it then says that the file cannot be opened as an archive.
Ive also tried it on a 2nd computer, the only link I tried was the mediafire one which at 95% said that there was a Trojan in it. (I have Norton on this computer and Avast on the 2nd one)
The last version I downloaded was 5116 and I had no problems whatsoever with that. If reaper, you could try a Repackage of the file maybe in another format it would be much appreciated.

Awesome Job and Thanks. Don’t want to rush you but wanted to know when the next revision would be out, due to UDB updating to 9.3. This has some nice adds.
ERROR 1146 (42S02) at line 1: Table ‘characters.character’ doesn’t exist
For all of you experiencing this error, please read on for a work-around. The cause of this is the database files being named differently in this particular release. It’s renamed to “characters” with an S, instead of plain “character” hence the error message.
One thing you can do is navigate to the location of your MySQL database files and rename the files. By default the files you’re looking for will be located in the following path: C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\data\characters
There will be the following 3 files in the characters folder:
characters.frm, characters.MYD, and characters.MYI
Rename and remove the “s” from each of these 3 files to where they are as shown:
character.frm, character.MYD, and character.MYI
Now go back and run reaper-x-mangos.exe from your reaper-eazy-folder. Once you run option 6 it will now work and properly return the number/ID and GUID for your character. Make sure after you get this info to go back and rename the files to their original state with the “s”.
Having said all that above (sry!!! Just wanted to give some info on where the problem’s happening), keep reading for the EASY way to get your Account number/ID and GUID. Create your character you want to be your auction house bot and log him/her in. Now, simply check your character log file. By default, this will located in a subfolder wherever you have your main reaper folder. Mine is as follows: C:\ReaperMangos5472\Logs
Open up the “char.log” file and find your character’s name. It will look something like this:
2008-04-08 16:37:34 Account: 6 (IP: 192.168.1.20) Login Character:[Rockefeller] (guid:4)
This lets me know that Account number 6 has my character, Rockefeller, as GUID 4. To get the AH bot working, I will add these numbers to the mangosd.conf file as shown below:
AuctionHouseBot.Account = 6
AuctionHouseBot.GUID = 4

Most likely that problem occur because your processor doesn’t have SSE support (i can upload generic executables if someone request it) :)

nvm i found my problem i was running mysql version 6.0 instead of 5.0 but how do i get my new accounts to have expansion privedges when they make there characters cause i know the mango command is setbc admin 1 for bc priveledges for account admin. how do i have it auto do it for all accounts with out the need to type that in?

How would you make two directories for World of Warcraft? Do you have to install it twice? Or Just copy and paste the files? If you copy and paste wouldnt the wow.exe still try and run from the regular path it was installed into?

I got a problem that maybe someone posted before.
Thats how to make a two-handed sword into one-handed totally? Because I use the Quice to change the display_ID, type, etc. It appears fine except the attack animation and the sheath. The attacking move is still for two-handed, and how can I make the sword to sheath on the waist instead on the back?
