Reaper Mangos 5472 - Easy WoW Private Server for World of Warcraft 2.3.3

I think the previous release of Reaper Mangos that is released 1 month ago can be considered as outdate, and … so i decided that perhaps a new Reaper Mangos release for WoW 2.3.3 version probably will be better although there’ll be new patch coming up from Blizzard (based from the Blizzard announcement displayed on WoW Launcher) … but well … even if there’s new patch you can always revert back to 2.3.3 or create two world of warcraft directory just in case you also play on official server ;)
Like the previous release this new Reaper Mangos 5472 include auction house bot to automatically populate your Auction House with random items, and also multithreading maps that probably useful especially to those who are using dual core processor, and of course also contains the latest available Scriptdev (297), and World Database from UDB and PSDB (UDB 343 and PSDB X9) or in other words dual database and finally i also include the previous Custom Vendors just in case someone use it :)
But since there are too many changes too be listed from the last release, i’d suggest you to backup your character data first before running the upgrade process (to those who are upgrading their installation but if you’re installing for the first time, you can just ignore this), just in case something goes wrong :)

Fresh Installation Instruction:
1. Make sure your processor support SSE Instruction, if you don’t know what is SSE all about, you just need to know what processor you’re using (Open System Properties via Control Panel, or press Windows Key + Pause/Break) and basically if you’re …
- running at least Pentium 3 (Intel Processor)
- or running at least Athlon XP (AMD Processor) or newer AMD Duron series but not AMD Thunderbird
You don’t need to worry about it :)
2. Make sure you have .NET Framework Installed (grab it from Microsoft website) or you’ll get error message saying The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135) when you run it
Note: if you have fast connection speed you can choose to download the .NET Framework 3.5 (197 MB) instead of .NET 2.0 (22.4 MB)
3. When you have .NET Framework installed, all you have to do is just read my previous post about Reaper Mangos Installation Instruction (i’m really sorry i haven’t updated it yet to reflect the changes made since Reaper Mangos 5225)
But basically all you have to do to install it is just run reaper-x-mangos inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory, and then choose option 1 to install it, and then continue with option 4 to configure the data directory and you’re done :)
Upgrading Instruction:
1. Choose to upgrade from reaper-x-mangos menu
2. and then don’t forget to choose the current database you’re using in order to upgrade it
Important Note to those who are upgrading:
If you have made custom items, tele, etc. AND using PSDB as your database make sure that you backup the custom items, etc. first because it’ll overwrite your world database but if you’re using UDB as your database, then it’ll automatically gets upgraded (but to be safe, backup your custom items first)
Switching Database:
All you have to do is just choose option 7 on reaper-x-mangos and done :P … but please note, switching database will overwrite any custom items you’ve made
Misc. Section:
Set up Mangos as Windows Service:
In order to set up mangos to run as service (windows), all you have to do is just :
1. Open Command Prompt
2. Change directory to where mangosd.exe and realmd.exe can be found (for example C:\ReaperMangos5472) by typing :
cd C:\ReaperMangos5472
or
cd /d C:\ReaperMangos5472
3. and then to install the realmd.exe and mangosd.exe as service, you need to type these:
mangosd.exe -s install
realmd.exe -s install
to install it as windows service … or type …
mangosd.exe -s uninstall
realmd.exe -s uninstall
to uninstall / remove it from windows service
OR if you prefer a more direct way of doing it … you can type:
C:\ReaperMangos5472\mangosd.exe -s install / -s uninstall
directly without changing directory first
Well i hope i’ve covered it all and didn’t miss anything … but if you still have any question feel free to post your question below or at the forum :)
as a side note, the GM Commands page has been updated too, so don’t forget to check it out if you’re looking for the easiest way to lookup GM Commands in Mangos ;)
As a last note, if you get a virus alert from your Antivirus saying that reaper-x-mangos.exe is a Trojan, Suspicious File, Malicious File, etc. You can ignore that message, i guarantee that file is clean and that is a false alert / alarm generated by your antivirus software. And you can always send that file to your antivirus vendor so they can inspect that file directly

Queston I dont know if this is on the right post But.when I follow the Old instruction its completly diffren it telles me to give hte name of the data base or jsut put in enter iam confused on what to do when I get to the end X( On the Wow Private server Guide

Well, I screwed it up the first time, so just deleted everything and started a fresh install. It's all working EXCEPT when I went to set up the auctionbot... I created the account, and a character, and logged into it fine, b ut when I went to set it up in reaper, I get:

I am running a previous version of mangos but not the 5224 (I couldnt get that one working either)
What happens is that I run the exe, I enter the needed path, the cmd window closes.
I've ran it as admin with the same result as well as in compatibility with_x.
The CMD window closes.
I'm out of ideas. Anyone have suggestions?

Looks very good here A+. I get a bunch of these weird errors while launching mangos. Any idea what the impact/cause/fix for these warnings would be?
Item (Entry: 32048) has wrong ExtendedCost - CondExtendedCost pair (1431, 52)
Top of my wish list remains these few things:
More blizlike scripting for instances
Some sort of "teleport guy" so instead of making portals everywhere so we can just spawn the tele guy wherever we want to have transport to all the other spots available.
Any custom instances (to make up for missing or lacking blizzard instances scripting) if anyone has any info on that sort of thing.
@Kyle: The Characters database had a table "character" which was renamed to "characters" with this release. If you still have a table named character it is probably because you backed up your character table and restored it. If this is true then you need to apply the char-up.sql to get it to apply the database alter/upgrades again. ;)

this is the problem i need solved
One last weird thing I am getting. It doesn't seem to 'like' custom items. I had one item like a starter sword and an elastic dufflebag which is still on the people that already had the item. But it wont let me additem to give it to anyone and same goes for the playercreate_item info it wont give it to any new people being creaetd weird behavior like that on custom items.
@Kyle: I went into the characters table and visually noted the account and guid of whatever character I had previously setup to be my auctionhouse bot and plugged those into the CONF file manually and it's working perfectly including the random AH populated items. Sweet code BTW hat off to Reaper for this little very Blizlike randomly populated AH! Excited to see what it does over time. Do new items appear to keep it always full (I expect so).

Chris K is the maker of the ahbot so hats of to him, and also to the people over at the magosproject , they are the ones who do all the hard work , all reaper does is pack a pack for people who cant use a database .

Just want to say thanks for the wonderful work once again and keep up the awesome work! This is truely a dream come true for me ever since I started WoW I always wanted to have a offline private server version. Just a few note.. I been trying to find out more on how to edit or make coding adjustment to it but haven't learned enough to do so yet.. I did noticed the following:
1. Magic seems to be not do any damage from Enermy NPC. Mainly the ranged effect one. ex. Human Mage's Fireball, Spider's Web Shooting. Forgive my lack of knowledge on this one but is that always how it is? Haven't read anything regarding this.
2. Is there a way or how can you add a changable perimeter in the mangosd.conf file to change the Ghost Form running speed? Reason for this is because sometime I run into a few bugs and when I reenter the server from logging off it shows me as dead.. Was thinking it would be nice to be able to run back to my body quicker.
BTW: I think its really nice to be able to find a server that is nearly as complete as the original.. Personally I don't like to mod things much... And amazing work you have put into this project as well as the up to date effort.
Please let us know if there are anything else we may do to help..

What restarter and auto-backup tools you everyone been using? I have been looking for days and still have not found one that works well with Mangos.
I have found a few for Ascent. I did found a restarter that works, but the backup part does not.

This is so weird. I can eventually probably fix these items by building new items. I thought at first it might be they didn't like that some had the script as internalitemhanler and not internalitemhandler with a D. Still wont work though. I fixed the missing bag item by copying a plain primal mooncloth bag and not a custom one.
It still won't add a simple 12-22 dmg weapon which I can lookup in the lookup item and view it as a simple normal one hand item 7.4 dps and all that would be expected of a basic weapon.
When I try to addietm the item it says cannot create item 44810 (amount 1) the debug message on the mangos screen says
STORAGE: Can't create initial item 44810 (not existed item id) for race 8 class 4 , error msg = 0
Is it trying to put initially created ietms in their hands and maybe the worn dagger or something is already there where previous versions jsut put them in the bag? No that cant be it or the manual .additem would work later when I tried it and this still fails.
@Saktron: My backups (BU) are just SQLYog exports which are saved as "sjasession.xml" files which are then run from my windows desktop Scheduler. Very easy. Could easily add a rar/zip batch to occur prior to each back to keep prior days stored by day of week or something but I for now overwrite last backup with new one each time and only BU once per day. This simplified automation batches is one reason to recommend SQLYOG.
Mangos doesn't ever crash for me but I never have more than 5-10 friends and family on there at once ever so it's probably just me. When I had a restarter it seemed to work fine. it was named restarter.exe created Feb/9/2008 was619k in size. But with no crashes it got very light testing (like manually closed mangos.exe and it launched it again).

I have restarter that works, but like you said, most of my crashes are from me just closing mangos after I have been working on my config file or updating. Reaper-X runs very well.
I just had a scare when I thought my harddrive crashed, and I had been using the Reaper-X to do my backups, and all my backups were in the the Reaper-X folder still.heh
I was using Navcat, and couldn't get the scheduler to work right. I have Sqlyog also and will give it a try.

It Yells the text on die but not modifying targets level. And i tryed update value ingame, it works fine. Just somehow monsters not doing this. Maybe it must be some NPC who allowed to modify players values or something? Please help me or send me to right forum where i can get some info about this. mangos.conf when i turn on mangosd.exe it loads it says thats it loaded all the items, but when i log in nothing is in the Auction House..... Some One Help me my server is set to go public next weekend

I downloaded and tried out the new 5472 it installed fine with no errors. I am also getting the same error as Tyrael.

It will not allow me to log in or even create A new account with mangosd.exe nor delete. So I had to downgraded back to 5225 and it is working just fine, but still not able to use my old characters. It is like they disappeared. Only I can find them all in the warcraft files under c:\wow\world of warcraft\wtf\accounts. I did backup my character data then upgraded, modified, and restored as previous versions using reaper-easy-mangos. This one tells me that my account and password are incorrect. Will not allow me to log in. So back to 5225 for now have tried to upgrade 3 times with the same issues.

@Tyrael: The 5225 characters are in a completely different table from the 5472. It was actually renamed:
database\table
from characters\character
to characters\characters
So what you need to do is look for the upgrade folder and inside there you will see a script like char-up.sql OK so after you restore your characters you will need to run this char-up.sql script to er-convert it to the new format and table name. Hope that helps and makes sense. Worked like a charm for me.
Oh yes if you get an error trying to RE-Convert your characters it's probably because you have to delete the characters and groups tables so it can RENAME them again. If you through the process created the new characters and groups tables and restore your old character and group table it can;t rename the old tables to upgrade them again because you'll get an error that the destination table exists so can't rename to that... right?
sha_pass_hash is a new name for the password field looks like to me. (guessing but good chance this is accurate). Used to be something like "I" or something which made less sense so I guess they changed it. Now like with the other problems you will need to apply the upgrade script to this database as well to properly format the accounts table and stuff to the new format. Same as with the Characters upgrade.
Testing through it. My favorite bug remains. The one where if you make a Warlock and do like .tele orgrimmar and .level 40 and go try to train, the trainer starts trying to feed you life tap (1) or fear (1) which you already have and you have to manually click each spell to get the ones available to you. just in case anyone out there is working on keeping track of whats still broken. This ones is a favorite of private server complainers. I hate when they complain. =p

I DID get it to crash by turning on like .mod aspeed 30 or something super fast and zooming around and finally bam it crashed! =P
Think it is first ever for Mangos. Some people say Ascent is better for raids and 100+ users. Ha like thats ever gonna happen on my server. =) Don't think so unless a T1 Santa comes to my door.

what really bothered me is that i had to freaking manually change SQLyog to make the passwords work...
if u want to fix it u can do it this way
go into SQLyog
go to the DB realmd
then right click on account
click alter table
then at the bottom where there is a blank space
double click there and type in sha_pass_hash
then change the next column (datatype) to medium text
and then click alter table
it worked for me after that
however it really is annoying that i had to do it manually

Ive searched and search for answers on how to fix this but cant get it done. What happens is i get everything installed, the server works, i can create a char and play it blah blah blah. Yet my problem is that once i create a 2nd char or other accounts i can no longer see any characters in ANY accounts. Then once i delete all accounts but 1 i can see those chars again. Can any one help me :(

This problem has happened with 5225 and people were using 6.0 and not 5.0.
Hey reaper at the very top of ur guide or speech thingy (lolz). You cant really create 2 dirs for world of warcraft unless u edit the registery. i have the reg keys indeed but i cbf putting em up on megaupload,rapidshare w/e cause my bandwidth is low and it will prob take ages.

well, i've stumbled my way through three versions of reaper mangos, and I have to say this is the shiznit, but you already knew that ;> Problem is realmd and mangosd are closing with an error right after they open. Had the same problem with oatman's version (4116?), but 5000 series were working fine until this one. I do not have a SSE capable pc... kinda suprized anything ran on my OLD 700mhz pc133 POS in the first place. Can't afford a new one, so that's OOTQ. Just curios if it's the SSE that's causing the error, and if you plan on using it for all newer versions you're going to make. BTW it seems last time the only things I did to fix it before was upgraded .NET to 3.5, and changed to Igor Pavlov version. Can't upgrade .NET any higher, and this is a Igor version. Couldn't find any help last time, so I'm throwing this post on for anyone else having the same problem. Thanks again!
Bonehead don't think it's the SSE giving you the error problem. I don't have SSE either and still using .net 2.0 and mysql 5.0 and don't have any issues. Running on P II 2.1G, 1G DDR ram. Never had any loading issues and surprised 5225 works, for ya, if that is the one your using. You may try to upgrade more RAM that might fix the problem.

Hi, does anyone know how to manage the skill rate increase when in game (defense, dagger, sword, etc.)? My skills are raised almost on every kill and I think the rate is too fast.
@Dave: "Re:carefull people blizz just patched today" (shrug) Patches are for retail Wow playing. Mangos is as I understand it not obligated or under any urgency to keep up except perhaps when a really cool new feature is released to retail that they really WANT to get it included.
@bonehead. If I have problems I do as follows.
Backup characters and realmd DATABASES
rename c:\Mangos to mangosMMDDYYwhatever
Create a new C:\Mangos
Install everything
Test it is working in 127.0.0.1 IP mode to self
Drop Characters Database (not just table)
Drop RealmD Database (not table)
Restore from backed up databases from step 1
Run the char-up.sql and realm-up.sql
Update all CONF files for lan/inet play
Reinstall any custom items/vendors/portals
That's about how my upgrade went. It requires a little competency with SQLYOG or similar tools to understand what each step is calling for here but if you grasp most of what this is saying, and have maybe one or two questions. Throw the ??'s here I will help if I can.
The renaming Mangos directory is mainly to ensure old DLL's are such are out of the way. I've had those cause problems. I've also had problems with MySQL which were resolved by dropping the database entirely and recreating them.
MySQL also LOVES it when you completely uninstall it and delete the MySql data folders and reboot then install it and reboot then configure it and reboot. Yes rebooting each time. Then reinstall the databases after all of that. Don't ask me why, but might explain why it's free.
ok since this recent patch, everytime i go to log into my server through the WOW log in i get this message: Unable to Validate Game Version.
any suggestions or tips on how to fix this. Ive tried deleting and reinstalling everything.
Any one having a problem where when you make new accounts, they never work. They're in the database but when you try to login, it says incorrect username / password. My first account works but none of the new ones do.
i have a problem. The server works fine butt not the sql! i use minimanager to create accounts and it doesen't work it says "Unknown column 'I' in 'field list'" something must be wrong with the sql!

Not something wrong with the SQL, something wrong with your editor. There's been changes in the DB layout, you need to find a fix for mangosmanager
@Agusdfnjs: The "I" field if I guess correctly was the password field which was renamed to sha-hash-pass. New name which seems to make more sense for a password encrypted field than just "I"

I added the new griffin mount to my Gadgetzan vendor says 300 some odd gold and I have enough gold but when I try to buy the item it says the item was not found. Tried manually adding with

I've had lots of problems with custom items in this release
@informative try going into the DB and changing the spawn number to a 3 or 4 digit entry becuase it might be that your DB isn't reading the entry item correctly and this may be the reason since on my server im using project silvermoon DB which allows high item ID exceptions try backing up your Character DB then importing into the Project Silvermoon DB and try that if option 1 doesnt work
The problem to your issue, is the IP address you had set in your database.
It demand alot on your setup for WOW server.
Are you using another PC to access the WOW PC? If you are, you will need to configure the IP address of your database to the router.

hello reaper i got a larger bug here.... my server was not running uptimal because i cant make more accounts whitout my client makes a little thing... it makes my characteres go away if i got two accounts

I've been trying to replicate the problem by fresh installing 5225 and then upgrade into 5472 but the realmd table gets updated too (which means i dont see any problem at all because the realm-up.sql that changes the 'I' column into 'sha_pass_hash' in realmd table gets executed) :(

That means you are not using compatible wow version (in this case you'll need to use wow 2.3.3 only because that's the only version supported in this release) ;)
what if i have the WoW 2.3.3 enEU DBC patch? does it still work? (european version)
I have an interesting problem. I have the second realm up and running, and when I log into wow, I can choose either realm.. The problem is that when I log out of one realm, and it takes me back to the character list, and I click change realm, it just says retrieving realm list. It will not bring the list of realms back up until I completely exit wow, and log in again.
Any ideas?

Yes, I too had problems migrating the accounts from 5225 to 5472... but my problems were related to the fact that I was updating three realms and had to restore the REALMD database each time so that it would upgraded each time... long story.
Updated today to 5472 and all went smoothly. I have also updated an old 5116 installation up to 5472, with no problems at all.

Here is the tank I use now for level 40's instant cast but no flaying. The instant cast is addictive though.
I think you can chance replace to INSERT for adding it first time or maybe it's already in there not sure..

I don't think your spawns will disappear. I spawned some instance bosses here and there and they were still there after i updated.
Well its more if my objects like chairs and tables i've spawned will dissappear.
nvm, i switched database anyway....well now i got a new problem, how do i get the auction house bot to work, i've put in the GUID and all that but when i log in there's nothing in the auction house?
uh nvm i got that to work also :P
Read your mangos.conf file and right at the end you will be able to setup your auctionbot manualy if you know your account and character id's

When I start Mangosd.exe, I get a problem with the locales_** files. It says they're empty.
Also, when I'm doing quests (such as "The Sun Gate" or any escorts), events necessary to complete the quest never happen.
Are the two problems related? How can I fix them?

I just want to let Reaper know that I found a broken quest in this release. Nat's Bargain in Tidefury says Item not found when you try to accept the quest.
I'm curious to know how this works in relation to the latest 2.4 patch just released by Blizzard. Is it possible to set up / install a SECOND copy of WoW that is only patched through 2.3.3? If this IS the case, I've been reading where people keep getting messages in the WoW client forcing them to upgrade to 2.4... how can this be disabled? Thanks for any feedback you can offer!!
u can if ur on 2.3.3 only use wow.exe in ur folder and erase patchlist XXXXX in your realmlist
@Russel: There are thousands of quests. You can monitor the Mangos boards silvermoon and others for occasional fixes to bugged quests. The amazing thing is MOST of them work. Haven't tried the escort quests yet are they still all broken too? Probably.
@Hanns: Yes your Mangos personal playing version of Wow should be at version 2.3.3 and you should launch with the Wow.exe not the launcher.exe so it never tries to patch itself until you want it patched. Expecting people who work for free to write a hot fast update every Tuesday so we don't have to keep separate copies of our RETAIL WOW and Mangos Wow is highly optimistic and very unlikely.

It doesn't work for me. I use no-ip as a DNS server and I set the Mangos to that. My WoW realmlist is set to that and everything is as it should be. Yet still it says, unable to connect.

Reaper-X: First, I love your server I think this latest release is phenominal and very stable.
I have a possibly a stupid question (given my limited knowledge of C++), but is there someway that ManGos might be able to be configured so that it reads from the DB for the client version? That way we can just change the DB table anytime blizzard releases one of these patches and we don't have to worry about recompiling the whole application (or having to bother you asking for a recompile)?

@Shinzon: In MY personal opinion, anyone who seriously wishes to NOT keep a separate copy of Warcraft for private servers and expects the private servers to instantly patch every Tuesday that Wow patches, they REALLY should just play retail Wow. Thats what it is designed to be, perfect every time for people who don't want to ever have to bother with and know how anything works.
There is no logical way nor fancy illogical way to code a fix to the random unknown changes that might occur in the client application WOW.EXE therefore there needs to be a way to let people know when they are using the wrong version of WOW.EXE for the compiled version of mangosd.exe. This has already been made extremely simple and works as it should. If you really want to magically make all of the wow.exe 2.4.0 people be allowed to connect to the mangosd.exe for 2.3.3 then you CAN already do that by just changing the number in your CONF files. It's probably going to give weird results if not on this release then on some future one and people will wind up more upset than if it had not been done liek that because it will at some point corrupt their characters or items or drop them out with crashes at random OR whatever. Right? No dis intended really but this same thing keeps getting asked in five flavors of gimme a break.
@Jordan: On the question of renaming Vendors. If you look at this meeeage linked above where I inserted code for a full level 40 armor vendor. You can see it only includes three inserts into 3 tables. This is all the data required for a fully working vendor. The third insert statement has the name in this case it was "Raid Max" and you cuold change it by editing this table to change his name. Always ermember to stop and relaunch mangosd.exe when you change these sort of things because they are all preloaded and stored in memory. Say that would be a nice idea if there were some way to code a refresh in mangos so we didn;t have to boot everyone to refresh these items and vendors from the database. Hmmm.

If this helps any here is the AQLYOG table structure dmup for those three tables that are affected by that custom vendors SQL. I tested the script and it works with my database of course I had to change the INSERT statements to REPLACE statements because I had already run it once. If you can dump your structure and compare it to this, you should see what is different and needs update on your tables.

Seems odd that it would have trouble locking a table, but perhaps the error doesn't occur until the replace but it is still citing the lock table command as the first command in the command set? Like begins transaction end transaction might? You might reboot and ensure nobody and nothing is connecting to the database- All of this assumes you've already verified your table structures match the above. If they didn't match you missed something else.

Forgot to mention, using Wow version 2,3,3,,7799 with build 5082. I have downloaded the upgrades ahead of 5082. (5116, 5225, and 5472). I guess im just going to do the update from each one, then rebuild files at the end. No sure what changes are being made to know if I need to rebuild Vmaps or anything like that but I guess I will anyways.

You should be able to just upgrade from 5082 to 5472. May have character problems as I did they changed one of the file names and how to fix that issue is above.

realmd.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I don't know anymore... deleted everything, re-installed everything, rebuilt everything... like I said, it did this with ver 4116, but worked fine for 5000 vers, but it just won't run the dang realmd.exe and mangosd.exe programs on this version (5472)... I'm kinda at a loss here. I even tried all three linked downloads thinking maybe some were corrupt or something. Dropped back down to 5225, and that still works fine. Lemme know if anyone else is having this problem. :[

I went ahead and done each upgrade chronologically. The only thing I had to do was download the new DBC's. Appearantly no map changes or anything between 5082 and 5472. I was hoping it would solve my problem (pet constantly gaining and losing roughly 50-100 xp every 2 seconds). Does that even standing at the auction house... Its still occuring in 5472.
Also, From what I saw in 5082, aggro spells and anti-aggro spells didn't work very well, if at all, is that implemented yet?
Again, Hunter spell "Volley" in 5082 would just do the AoE around the character and not the target locator placed on the ground. I haven't tested this as I am currently writing from my laptop and had to leave the house for a little while.

Running Server 2003 SP2 installed 5427 from scratch all went well no errors... but when I start mangosd.exe,realmd.exe files they start and then sit there for about 5-10 secs then seem to bail. no messages no errors just a blinking cursor in each one then gone...

right thsi is really weird i did everything u said and yeh the server is working fine i no how to use mangos and stuff so ive created account ceated character and set as lvl 3 gm. now when i go into play it works fine but when i start doing some dm things quite a lot of the time i just die on the spot and if i click ressurect nothing happens. the " ressurect" banner dissapears but i jsut lay there dead. cant use any gm spells eaither and if i log back in im still dead. so i need to delete the char and start again.
for example i was running into uldaman and id been playing on this char for about 3 minutes and he just falls over and dies no reason wat so ever. he was level 255 so nothing could have killed him. any suggestions/comments plz help me :( ??????

Derek - the scripting doesn't work for just about every escort quest, timed spawn, etc. It's not the real game, accept it or pay for it. If you use the PSDB though, there are many workarounds incorporated.
Yeah as always GOOD JOB! But I have an other question. When is the Mangos for version 2.4.0 coming up? I must say the 2.4.0 version will be very good - new island, new quests and new items, I can't wait!

make sure you have the .NET framework installed. Also try dumping your databases (Mangos, Characters, Scriptdev2, realmd etc) and doing a clean install of 5472. See if it resolves the problem without any character account data in.

I had a similar problem with a horde character a while back. The only solution i found was to dump the character unfortunatly. (as a tip - always create yourself a guild or join party the reason being the .revive command will always work in these chat systems - even when your dead)

check to see your firewall isnt blocking the world server port. Also check your port in the realmlist table and the one in realmd.conf match.

to my knowledge (and by all means correct me if im wrong) The buildings are incorporated into the terrain. There is no spawn command for them.

My modest understanding of portals in mangos is that there are TELE locations accessible by GM's and these locations are stored in a table (namde tele something or other). As a GM you can type .tele name and it will lookup the name and use the coordinates and take you there. Spawning a permanent portal is obviously also easy something like .addspw objectnumber 1
will usually spawn the object such as a portal to wherever.
These permanent magelike portals are (if I am not mistaken) actually using SPELLS which are coded into the spells list. The spells are stored in the DBC database files and CAN be customized but are not at all EASY to customize. These are pre-designed and you can only use the ones that exist unless you know how to edit the spells to create new spells. Spells may probably need to both exist in the spells.dbc database and also have supporting code within the compiled Mangos to imlpement brand new spells which go to new locations?
With less skill and without needing to compile your own mangos you MAY be able to substitute a new destination location for an existing spell if you are prepared to lose that current portal spell in the process - this ASSUMES the spells info such as destination is stored within the spells.dbc or other dbc datafile someplace and this is my last and rather large guesswork assumption.
I hope someone knows moer than I do because I too would like to make at least a couple of custom portals but never have taken time to dig deeper into it because it was not at all EASY =) and I had nufortunately consistently found more effective utilizations of time waiting to come back to this obstacle hopeful that in the meanwhile someone else might share a breakthrough. =(

Once again guys, great release, thanks for keeping it up! I am having some trouble getting the server to work over my lan, the server is up and running and no errors are present, I have 2 other computers on my lan, one had an old installation of wow that I've used before, the other is a fresh install, the old one connects to the server no prob, yet the fresh install gets stuck in the realm selection screeen without a realm to choose, it connects, but yhere is no realm to choose, does this make any sense to anyone4... im not sure what im missing, please help, thx
Mangos v5472, MySQL v6.0, Win Vista Ultimate x32.
Installed Mangos with no errors, sucessfully created 1 account. Created 1 character and logged in and played without any problems.
When I added a second character, I cannot see any characters. The characters are in the database. When I delete character to get back to only having 1 character, everything works fine again.
Does anyone know how to allow more than 1 character? Thanks.

Ok, first time attempt here.
I've got everything installed, took some trial and error but I'm at the point where I try to run mangosd and realmd. It all starts going down hill at:
E:\.../maps/0004331.map' not exist!
Correct *.map files not found in path 'E:\....\bin/maps' or *.vmap/*vmdir files in 'E:\...\bin/vmaps'. Please place *.map/*.vmap/*vmdir files in appropriate directories or correct the DataDir value in the mangosd.conf file.
All the *.vmap and *.vmdir files are correctly placed. I can't seem to generate the .map files, just an empty .map folder.
I'm pretty sure after I fix that, I should be able to connect to my own server... after I create an account for myself.. I believe that's how it works.

@Matt: Put the ad.exe and the mapextractor.bat file IN the warcraft folder (wherever your WOW.EXE file is located and run the extractor batch there. It will create the Map folder and draw data from the MPQ files in the data subfolder and populate the newly made map folder with your resulting maps.
clairification i have mysql 5.01 or something was the only verstion that worked with vista almoust tempted to try and instally the server it self on a my virtural pc just to see if this works that way its got to be vista security or something i dont know. but it sure is insane how that i could get it to the point that it installs mangos after you put the root and password in and prior to that cause i never have mysql installed right well it said it did bit had to spend hours on the form to tell me otherwiss. hopefully this is something silly another qestion too is im to ld that you need to use sqlyog when i opened that up well all the databases are already there so im thinking that was inteded to build earlyer versions.. hope that someone else on vista seems to have the same problem at first but then resolves it so its not just me getting the unable to connect to sql yeah cause if sql is not working then you cant use the easy reperx mangos installer so ya would think that it should just work after you get to that point

@mike: Mangos works with other databases. Maybe try getting a hold of Oracle light version or something and give it a go with that. I believe some vista people did get it all to work. There were a couple of tricks to it. One said something about premaking folders because vista wasn't accepting Makedir commands or something and another said something about security issues yeah.
If you setup a VPC that should work fine. I'd probably go for windows 2003 as the OS or if not that XP Pro in the VPC or VM.
One other thought is about MYSQL runs as a service usually but some people launch it as an application rather than a service - you might also look into doing it that way because it might be simpler for Vista to handle as an application versus an autostarting service?

Unfortunately since mysql 6 is still in alpha stage (not for production use) you can't use it with mangos otherwise you'll experience various problems :(
the only thing you can do is just install mysql 5.0 series (stable and for production use) but if you use Vista, i can't really help you on how to install it (well i dont have vista) :)
but as Informative said, you can always use Virtual Machines on your Vista OS (im also running VM with the exception i ran the Guest OS from Win XP), so you can run it without problem ;)

You say your running 2.3.3 now, but were you when you made the DBC and VMAP files? If they were extracted BEFORE you downgraded, they won't work. :( Looks like you may be in for another long wait-time. Try deleting and re-ripping your VMAP's.
I just realized this recent update wont work with RoSPORA V1.4.4 to view who is online.. The account creation will still work just not the ability to see who are playing and their stats (just appears as 0 players online.. It would be awesome if this was fixed in the new version.. Just thought i would let ya know that this is a problem. Great job Reaper-x I cant wait to see what is being compiled in the next release =)

i manage to get my sql to work once on vista and once only but that let me make my maps and vmaps and dbc folder. I used the 2.2 client to do that. i had to go into user accounts in controld pannel turn off uda in vista.
remember to download the updated dbc file from the top of the page and copy that over the dbc after you install the program reper-x mangos easy tool.
but my sql did not work after that what i did was get VPC and set up mysql then what i did cause i tried to make another hard dirve in vpc but i had problems with getting xp to see it getting more discuraged i noteced that in the setup in vpc theres a shared folder access. so i enabeled that to the wow directory on my computer. ran the reaper-x magic tool and put in all the stuff it asked me
and pressed 1. At that point you should be watching the matrix work its magice (numbers and a ton of code run down the screen)
pressed 4 when that was done folowed the instrctions in there. then when that was done. pressed 5 set up so i could check from my computer. remember your going to have 2 ips now and yeah fist time IT WORKED.
so if you have vista this is the direct easyest way that wont give you a migrane hope it helps those that are on vista and really want to see this worked..
And i only long in for a minute and i was really impressed for what i seen in the first ten seconds a enemey with a sword so im a happy camper this really works for every body.
keep in mind that i have a computer with 2 gigs of ram else youll probally have resourse problems but when it the servers running it dont seem to take up too much memory so enjoy vista friend now with a little bit of time.

Ah i believe the Who is online feature of ROSpora not working because the characters table got renamed into characters from character :)
to fix it:
1. Open Index.php in your ROSpora directory
2. Search for:

Depending on how you set up your server for interaction between "Teams" these are the areas you need to put a NUMBER for your items to be generated.

Hey there. I remember on the previous releases that it was possible to change the drop rates of the different types of drops (gray items drops, the green item drops, blue item drops, etc..)
I noticed that those lines aren't in the mangos.conf file this time around...
Can i add those lines in to implement it with this release? If so, what were those lines so i can add them to my mangos.conf file?
Thanks I thought being able to control the drop rates in a more detailed manner was a good idea because i didn't have to deal with lots of junk gray items when i wanted the drop rates to go up. =) thanks ahead of time for any help.

I got a problem that maybe someone posted before.
Thats how to make a two-handed sword into one-handed totally? Because I use the Quice to change the display_ID, type, etc. It appears fine except the attack animation and the sheath. The attacking move is still for two-handed, and how can I make the sword to sheath on the waist instead on the back?

How would you make two directories for World of Warcraft? Do you have to install it twice? Or Just copy and paste the files? If you copy and paste wouldnt the wow.exe still try and run from the regular path it was installed into?
most of my loading things say

nvm i found my problem i was running mysql version 6.0 instead of 5.0 but how do i get my new accounts to have expansion privedges when they make there characters cause i know the mango command is setbc admin 1 for bc priveledges for account admin. how do i have it auto do it for all accounts with out the need to type that in?

ERROR 1146 (42S02) at line 1: Table 'characters.character' doesn't exist
For all of you experiencing this error, please read on for a work-around. The cause of this is the database files being named differently in this particular release. It’s renamed to “characters” with an S, instead of plain “character” hence the error message.
One thing you can do is navigate to the location of your MySQL database files and rename the files. By default the files you’re looking for will be located in the following path: C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\data\characters
There will be the following 3 files in the characters folder:
characters.frm, characters.MYD, and characters.MYI
Rename and remove the “s” from each of these 3 files to where they are as shown:
character.frm, character.MYD, and character.MYI
Now go back and run reaper-x-mangos.exe from your reaper-eazy-folder. Once you run option 6 it will now work and properly return the number/ID and GUID for your character. Make sure after you get this info to go back and rename the files to their original state with the “s”.
Having said all that above (sry!!! Just wanted to give some info on where the problem’s happening), keep reading for the EASY way to get your Account number/ID and GUID. Create your character you want to be your auction house bot and log him/her in. Now, simply check your character log file. By default, this will located in a subfolder wherever you have your main reaper folder. Mine is as follows: C:\ReaperMangos5472\Logs
Open up the “char.log” file and find your character’s name. It will look something like this:
2008-04-08 16:37:34 Account: 6 (IP: 192.168.1.20) Login Character:[Rockefeller] (guid:4)
This lets me know that Account number 6 has my character, Rockefeller, as GUID 4. To get the AH bot working, I will add these numbers to the mangosd.conf file as shown below:
AuctionHouseBot.Account = 6
AuctionHouseBot.GUID = 4

Is anyone else having problems downloading this? I've tried all 3 links on this computer and all stop around 95% saying source file could not be read. I thought it might be firefox bug so I tried fixing it as on mozilla's site, but no effect. On occasions it does seem to download but it then says that the file cannot be opened as an archive.
Ive also tried it on a 2nd computer, the only link I tried was the mediafire one which at 95% said that there was a Trojan in it. (I have Norton on this computer and Avast on the 2nd one)
The last version I downloaded was 5116 and I had no problems whatsoever with that. If reaper, you could try a Repackage of the file maybe in another format it would be much appreciated.

I have an issue that nobody else seems to have. I get mobs that can walk into hills etc, mobs that attack you when you are flying 20ft above them. I have had other problems but I am hoping that if I fix the big one all the others will go away too. I have tried reinstalling my client and rebuilding the maps, dbc and vmaps folders. Enabled vmaps, disabled vmaps, tried both databases, tried running with a fresh client. I have tried completely blowing everything away and starting again more than once, and still no luck. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Weiyan - sounds like you haven't enabled your account for BC access. You'll need to start up the mangosd.exe file to start the server. Once it finishes loading, you'll need to type the following:
setbc accountname 1
Obviously replace accountname with your login account name. This will authorize your account for the expansion.

This really formes a problem when playing an instance..
Tried setting the vmap values to 1, but that results in errors during server startup.

Their last time estimate was for a 2.4 release in about 4 weeks time. I'm sure Mr Reaper won't be far behind ;)

I was just wondering if anyone has spent a good amount of time messing with the data in the tables to figure out how everything works. I'm just curious because it's been awhile since I've messed with them (meaning I haven't touched them since Mangos 4875 was released). What I'm trying to do is jump from Mangos 4875 to 5472 by doing a fresh install and using my dumped data to import my information back into the tables. I've done it before and it worked great but it's been awhile since I last did it. I know that the password column went from "I" to "sha_pass_hash" and "characters" changed to "character", but I still can't get my characters to appear on the selection screen. The reason I jump updates is cause I have dial-up and I hate downloading big files lol. If anyone can help with this I'd really like that, if not I guess I could try and go through the slow process of downloading and updating in order.
I still have my data dumped into a backup file so my data isn't lost from me messing around lol. Well thanks in advance for the help.

Tried running the server on vista today, encoutered some little problems but with the help of others on this forum it worked out just fine.

@BlueSteel: Lmao. Yes this is a problem in the database for several versions now. It's most easily fixed by logging in as a GM and going to the noob starter areas and finding the hostile warlock trainer sidekick usually a level 52 imp flagged as hostile. Select him and type
.delete
That works for me anyway. There is a fix for it I think just switching from UDB to silvermoon DB may fix it? You could probably also figure out the ID of the imp mob they are using and default his level to 1 and smack him around when he goes aggro on people. I don't have the SQL script that fixes this handy but one does exist.
@Zenn: Not sure what you are asking. But I know the character database changed format even on just the last release like going from version 5225 (whatever the immediate previous was) to 5472 so going from 4875 to 5472 would be what six or more updates probably half of those updated characters. Importing and adapting characters from that old of a version would be difficult I think.
If it's just for personal play and a limited number of accounts/characters why not just fo a fresh install and log on a notepad or something which characters you had and just rebuild them all. It's not tough to add items with the Mangos .lookup item commands and .additem so on. .level them to the right level give them some .money and go train them and replace their key items.
I can usually build out a complete new level 70 in 10 minutes at GM island, then tele to IF or Orgimmar and train him up and they are ready to raid.
@Richard: the problem you are describing is almost certainly the Line of Sight issue addressed by the VMAPS. Did you create and add the VMAPS folder next to your MAPS folder? Make sure to check your CONF files I think there is also a switch to turn this VMAPS (line of sight) logic ON. Line of sight logic is what prevents mobs from attacking you through walls and places they ought to know is not in their logical range.

I think I might just go ahead and do that because I'm not exactly sure how much was changed from then till now. Would be nice if there was an easy way to jump version though. Hi, the problem richard is having is probably the same problem i have.
I also figured out is must have had something to do with the Line of Sight.
Already tried to set the LOS in the CONF files to "1", but after doing that the server wont start anymore. I's missing the 0004331.vmdir
I did create the vmap folder and put it in the data dir. However, in this folder i cannot find the 0004331.vmdir file, only .vmap files (also 0004331.vmap).
i located .vmdir files in the maps folder, but no 0004331.vmdir.

For some reason i can't get past handshaking when connecting. I tried to connect and I left for a bit and when i came back it was still there after about 5 minutes. I am using wow version 2.4.1 (8125) so i changed common.h to support client build 8125 (I'm using my own binarys so I can still play retail). If anyone could help me that would be great =D.

go into SQLyog, then go to realmd then click on realmlist and the click the tab table data.
find the table that says reaper-x and change it to w/e u want it to be, then right above that table click the little floppy disk save button

If it's almost perfect, that's because arenas doesn't seems to work.
When i try to go to any of them on BC i see the vendors, i can register teams but when i want to join a battle i can only choose between first available and warsong BG.
So do i need a patch to make them work or did i miss something ?

A tip for users with vista, try installing xampp. Im using it for the webserver and for the mysql dbases, and it works like a charm. Realy usefull and simple to maintain.
Here is a small change on my last post.
the file that cannot be found is the "000_43_31.vmdir" file
The file "0004331.map" is in my "maps" folder, so no problem there.
Tried a lot of different things to make it work, like changing the \ into /, remaking maps and vmaps, change data dir, etc.
it just wont start when i set the Line of Sight or Hight values in the ".conf" to "1"
I am still having the same problem with my server. Mobs that can attack while you are flying above them etc. They can "walk" into the air in order to get to you. Some walk into walls and dissapear. It seems like a vmaps issue but I have tried turning vmaps on and off. I have remade my vmaps folder. No change.
Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

Well I decided to mess with it a bit more to see if I could get it to work. I wanted to see if I could get it to work and to learn a bit more about how it works at the same time.
And guess what, I did a successful jump from 4875 to 5472. :) Within about a couple hours of messing around with it I got every single character to work. Now I know what to do if something comes up and I need to mess with the databases again.
The only reoccurring problem with my dumbed characters is that for some reason in the process the data in the data field was broken. It wouldn't let me even see my characters on the selection screen until I fixed it. I found a quick and easy fix for it while attempting to make it work. If anyone is interested or has "broken" data in their data field just ask and I'll post the solution.
I am having a problem with one of the quests on Bloodmyst Isle called Razormaw. It's recommended for 2 players. I can get the quest and the bones, and I even see smoke rising up, but I cannot find the eternal pyre to toss the bones into so I can summon Razormaw to cut him down. I'm running a private WoW server on a laptop. Not the Silvermoon database, but the other one. The specs on the laptop are:
Pentium M 2.13 GHz
1.00 GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon X600
I'd like to think that my laptop hardware is the issue, but I am unsure. Please advise, as I REALLY like this game.

I have used the reaper mangos before and have experienced no problems. Then soon after installing it, my computer crashed and everything got deleted so I got it repaired, which took two months, and when i got my computer back I decided to get my private server back again. So i got it all back on perfectly and logged in alright but then my computer restarted itself in the middle of playing and when i tried to load up mangosd.exe or realmd.exe it said.
Could not connect to MySQL dayabase at 127.0.0.1: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1'
Cannot onnect to world database 127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;mangos
And it gave me a similar response from SQLyog when i tried to access my server through it, saying that it can't connect to 'localhost' with the same error code 10061.
Any ideas?

So far you got karma points for me to recognize your hard work that shortens a lot of tweaking and effort for rest of us...
And with great wishes, just a two side notes:
1) When locale of MySql is different from installation default, your exe searches for index.xml in wrong folder (c:\mysql\\share\charsets\index.xml) all with '\\' after mysql part of path. However, workaround is to make that folder and copy from MySql installation to that folder and it will work spendidly.
2) When changing to lan party it tries to write to realmd schema and not in "asked for" schema, (in my case mangos_realmd), no matter that it was correctly given at the start of exe. Workaround is to make adjustments to MySql manually or to rename schema, restart exe, rename schema back.

ok, got a few questions...
1 is there any way to fix hunter pets? when they die, can't seem to get them back again..i guess it happens with locks, but i don't play a lock so idk.
2 i seem to have a problem with setting instances to heroic, in the past they were locked on heroic, but now its selectable, and the instance enterance changes to heroic, but no heroic drops...ie no badges or epics. did i miss something?
3 this is more of a side interest to me, as i use my server with a few friends to goof around on and experiment with enchants, gear, etc. but have been thinking of leaving retail to play with no drama. there's not enough of us to do raids etc. so i was going to nerf the raids and try to make everything doable as a 5man grp, but would like to be able to create new enchants, recipies, crafting patterns, and maybe even upgrade a few spells. I don't want to make things like god enchants, but reasonable things that retail just won't have. i know i can use Quice to make items, but i don't want to make just items, i'd like to make professions actually worth having. Creating a new faction to build rep with would also be something i'd be interested in.
YO REAPER, i literally got to the last step of setting up the server; typing in the filepath for the data folder. mine was C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data
and guess what? it didn't accept it 'cause there were spaces in the filepath..bunch of crap if u ask me. so, i did what it insisted on, created a folder at C:\Wow\Data, and guess what? it didn't accept that either even though that's the exact filepath it was asking for...YA MIGHT wanna look into that k? I'm not that mad, but i did waste an hour and a half getting that far..btw, update ur instructions too 'cause the new reaperx.exe file instructions differ a bit from ur original instructions. i'll check back in a week or two..please get this fixed
I followed you instructions to the letter used MySql 5.0 etc.
But I was trying to set it up on a Machine Running Server 2003 and then tried Server 2000
But niether worked I set it up on my second Gamer which is running XP sp2 worked fine...
So I'm thinking it might be a Hardware issue as the PC I tried running it on with server 2000/2003 is an older box. So I'm good for now.. Sorry for not getting back sooner..

Can you post your character fix...I have the server running and the game loads...I can get into the character setup screen and create a character but it does not show up in the character select screen...so basically I can log in, create a character but thats as far as it goes...any help would be grand.
PS. I'm installing for the first time not an upgrade :)
My server is listed on wowstatus.net and everything works fine for plays however since the most recent 2.3.3 server update it is always displaying my server as offline.. Does anyone know how wowstatus.net works? If you know give me a shout!

I started with problems with the character back up, when going from a prev. version to this one. Finally I got the character tables fixed and the account password field changed, Now im able to log in, but I see no characters. The Mangos windows says something like "player #3 (or whatever) has broken data in the 'data' field." Thats like the only thing it says. Anyone have a fix for this? Zenn I see you have a fix, but decided not to post it. Please do. Or someone else rather.

Check your password ,if you are sure that is right check your privilges, i dont know about mysql but on navicat its ,manage users , privilges and click all the boxs .
But I think you have used the wrong user name or wrong password as mangos cannt gain access to the database

When reaper makes it...it'll be on the home page. Until then, you have two choices:
1. Download the source from mangosproject.org, without the UDB, therefore you won't be able to play it.
2. Or shut up and stop multi-posting and wait for a batch file update.
I prefer you take option 2.

Sorry that it took me so long to reply, I check back only once or twice a week.
Well with the info you just gave me my character fix won't fix that. Even though it's similar to the problem I was having my character fix won't fix your problem. My fix will only fix the characters if your backup got corrupted like mine when upgrading.
But I did have the same problem as what your describing as well when I did a fresh install. I can't remember exactly what I did to fix that problem though. All I know is that, just like your problem, when I created a character after a fresh install it wouldn't appear on the character selection screen.
For now I'll just recommend checking to see that WOW is patched up to 2.3.3 and not below or above. Check to make sure that you changed your realmlist file in your WOW installation folder is set to '127.0.0.1' instead of blizzards server. Also check to make sure that your ip in your database hasn't been changed from '127.0.0.1'
I can't remember exactly what I did for that problem (the same one your having) but I got mine working easily. I'll post back when I figure out what I did. Sorry if I'm not very helpful.

I ran into a problem though. When I tried to create a account using the Mangosd in the mangos folder, I got an error about sha_pass_hash ... Luckily all I had to do was to alter the account table and change the name I to sha_pass_hash...

Does anyone know how to lean the spell for the druid class 'bear form'? I tried doing the quest on my lvl 13 tauren druid but the great bear spirit is no where in sight. Its the 'great bear spirit' quest that I'm trying to complete. It sends you to Moonglade to complete this quest and has you go NW. I don't think that this quest works in this release and I'm not sure if it is fixed in the next release that Reaper will be compiling.
I tried to learn the spell bear form by using the .learn command and it said spell learned. But when I looked it only gave me the passive bear form spell not the one you cast to become one. Thanks for any help that I receive.

fresh instal solved my problems.I don't get cant connect to world data base any more.For those who still get it try downloading microsoft net. framework 3.5 and set your root pasword to root(when you instal mysql)and do not make new user name in reaper-easy mangos.And reaper you don't hawe some files in your instalation of mangos like:

zenn: That quest worked in 2.3.3, it just skipped the bear spirit because of a lack of scripting. It should still work in 2.4.1. Try returning to Starblaze and see if it lets you complete the quest.

When I run mangossd.exe i get an error saying that I am missing a map file, and i checked, it is not in the map folder. i have re-extracted the maps and tried re-doing the config a few times but still no luck... any help please? fyi the missing map file is "5301243.map"

PC Tools ThretFire 3.0.14 gives me alerts from time to time when I'm using Reaper Mangos 5472.
It says that mangosd.exe attempts to log keystrokes.

Why is that?
Logging keystrokes. kinda creepy. But at the same time, aren't keystrokes logged when you play WoW? If you play on official servers they log keystrokes... don't they? That's how they know if you are botting, right? I know that there is a file that will log whenever certain commands are entered... maybe that plays a role in logging key strokes? Not sure.
But very interesting.
Reaper says at the beginning of this thread to just ignore that message. Thanks for the help. I read your post after I already got it to work a different way thinking that I couldn't continue if I didn't. Its funny cause I changed the data in my character database to bypass the quest and it let me go onto the next part of the quest but the one I bypassed still shows up as not completed. :)
Hey does anyone know how to make a permanent buff? Just wondering cause the walk speed in WOW seems a bit slower than i remember it. I wanted to cast a buff on a character that lasted forever. I wanted the buff to increase move speed by 25% :). Either that or I was also thinking of making it so that when your character is rested that a 25% increased movement buff would be on your character until the rest went away. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.
Or if its easier I would rather know how to increase movement speed permanently. I don't like having to type .speed # every time I log in for the extra increase in speed. But that's just me complaining. :)

You have done really well, but I started thinking, wouldn't it be nice to have races play as strange classes, e.g. orc mage. I have modified the sql database to use the specs for am undead druid, and I have located the Chrclasses.dbc file which will enable me to create an undead druid, but I can't read this file. Do you have a reader for it? I can figure it out if you point out a pattern, I have figured a lot out with this project =) If you can tell me, I may be able to share my secrets. Thanks again Reaper,

I noticed that there are still many quests that are bugged. I know it's hard to do all this stuff (hah, I can't even begin to understand how you did all these!) but I'm expecting more and more of these quests fixed. It's fun simply playing WoW, but it's much more fun (at least for me) to do these quests.

Welcome back Reaper! I missed you and your releases :). Waiting for the latest ;).
First off I would like to say is: AWSOME job Reaper! Totally awesome job. This is by far the easiest and most well informed place to get a server up and going. I too thought that 5472 was the latest release, and i did a quick search for 5740, but came up with nada. If there is a newer release, I would love to try it out! I am still a newb to this, but I got my server up and was able to allow others outside the network to log in. However, I am having some issues with certain spells, Seal of Rightousness mainly, I keep getting an error message : Unit::HandleDummyAuraProc : non handled possibly Seal of Righteousness (Id = 20154), I have also just recently seen CastSpwll: unknown spell id 0. Any clues or hints on how to fix?

So far, the few problems I have had, have been answered in these forums, except this one.
Mobs are coming through walls, up from the ground and they are even walking around with only thier top halves about the ground. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Running 5472, with Mysql 5.0 and everything else seems to be working great.

No sorry bud but you are wrong , reaper makes a repack of mangos which you can get from
http://www.mangosproject.org/forum/mangos is made from a team of people , so there is no point in asking reaper if he can add this or do that as it's not him who makes it.What reaper does (bless him ) is make's a pack of this with all the databases loaded into it for you , one from the udb and the other from slivermoon

Reaper, I have downloaded the file but the reaper-eazy-mangos folder does not containt the reaper-x-mangos.exe file. It only contains alot of .sql files but no reaper-x-mangos.exe.

What you just said is a common glitch in all versions of mangos. I've been using Reaper's repack since like around mangos 4500 and even now in 5472 its still here. I doubt there will be a fix for it since it is only a minor glitch and it doesn't prevent you from interacting with the creeps.
Although myself I would rather that it be fixed but that just means less time that is spent on non-working things. Don't you just hate it when your ranging them from above and they 'glitch fly' to get to you? Lol I think that's funny but annoying.

Well I don't know if i screwed this up or what happened but I was having issues with players items and such everyone was stripped of everything so I ran the db repair and for a bit it seemed to work but now mangosd.exe won't start I see it flash up and then nothing.

And btw. I have had this version working, but wanted to reinstall the db. But now it failes to install after 77 queries in the db file. I have tried the included installer again, but as this didnt work I tried to use SQLyog, but as mentioned, it fails.
I use the newest version of Xampp to drive the DB and the mangos minimananger, so my server has a webinterface.
Do any of you know what might be the issue?

I'm using .net 3.5 and MySQl 5.0 just to get those questions out of the way. Anyways, this is a fresh install on a fresh machine, so there should be no conflicting data.
what happens, is when i start the mangosd.exe service it goes through the initialization routine completely with no errors. spits out the ingame gm commands and goes to the mangosd prompt. as soon as it does that it crashes. i get a pop up warning from windows saying that "the program has stopped working and must now close. Press continue to close program." realmd seems to be ok with no errors. why can i not get the new repack to work correctly?
i am using client version 2.3.3 of wow like i should. and all dbc and vmaps were correctly extracted from it with no errors.
I am not completely new at this. i have ran and maintained an older version of reaper-x mangos on an older machine and never had any problems. the new machine is much better specced so that shouldn't be the issue. here are the system specs for new rig just so you guys know.

First off, THIS IS GREAT! ^_^ I've been using it for a while now (Reaper-X-MaNGOS, I mean) and find it great fun to play.
Now for my problem. Ever since I downloaded this version of MaNGOS (5472) I get the same error. When i open the game, i get the error "Cannot validate game version". I went to the WoW site and it told me to scan for viruses and then uninstall any mods. As you may have guessed, I DONT WANT TO UNINSTALL MANGOS, DAMNIT!So, what do i do. I am using this version of MaNGOS and (what i belive to be) the most recent updated version of WoW. Please, please, please, please, PLEASE, help me!Thank you so much.

The Latest Is 2.4.1, You Need To Be USing 2.3.3
Only! Mangos 2.3.3 Servers Only Support Patch 2.3.3, So You Need To Make Sure You Are Using Patch 2.3.3 (If You Updated Throught THe Blizzard Downloader Your At 2.4.1 and you must uninstall wow reinstal and get the manual patch that takes you instantly to patch 2.3.3)

Don't bother with uninstalling and reinstalling your entire game, as a new version of Reaper-Mangos will be out soon, and it would hardly be worth your trouble to go through all that. Then again, the choice is ultimately up to you.

ERROR:Error in creature_template table, probably sql file format was updated (there should be 63 fields in sql).
Everything seems to have worked with the upgrade.

actually mangos is at 2.4.1 but there are no 2.4.1 databases that work correctly, at least to my understanding, iknow 2.4.1 is out for mangos but you would basically be using a 2.3.3 db

Hi Reaper, thanks for doing such a good job creating these server-packs for us.
Everything goes ok with your Reaper Mangos 5472 (considering the little bugs from the emulator). But there is a little issue i've reading here and is related with the change of the "characters.character" table to "characters.characters".
I'm sure you decided to change the name of the table for one good reason but now it seems that it generate a lot of problem among the users.
If you are creating a fresh server (my case) you won't get any errors and the auction house works perfectly. But some GM Commands doesn't work anymore because they still try to use the "characters.character" table.
Example: when i wrote .namego mynick i get the same error of everyone because the .namego command is trying to use the oldname of the table.
Table ‘characters.character’ doesn’t exist
Does anybody know some way to fix it. I think this error added with all the other "table doesn't exist" errors suggest that you should go back to the original mangos name of the table: "characters.character".
And if some of us try to install some tool or addon to the server it won't work because everybody use the standard name.

no u can use 2.4.1 with 2.4.1 dbc but use a 2.3.3 world data base in other words no quel'danas spawns (you also have to apply any updates that come with it)
ascent has the same problems they have 2.4.0/2.4.1 servers that don't have working quel'danas spawns
anyways i highly recommend waiting for reaper to release his next repack, it is a lot easier then having to go through 5 other sites trying to get it just to work.

Oh my, I am so embarrassed now. Yes, that fixed it completely. Without thinking, I went in and set all the parameters in the config files to what my server normally runs at before the initial boot. I would have never thought that the AH bot would be the culprit. I should have known better since this was a fresh install and not an update. Thanx a lot. Won't make that mistake again...lol
I Have Made My Own Mangos But I Am Used To Compiling Ascent It Is Easier To Use When Compiling, However With Mangos I Have The Latest And Latest Silvermoon And It Wont Work Even After I Applied All Patches And I Know It Has Been Supporting 2.4.1 for a while my home forum is ragezone i go through mainly the wow,gunz,travian and rs sections. i just hate compiling my own server for mangos

I have everything set up, and its all working and I can log in, but for some reason npcs will not enter combat correctly. I'll attack them, and their health will regenerate while I'm attacking them. I've already made sure that the health regenerate was set at only 1x so that it doesn't do anything. What do I need to do to fix this?

hmmm... interesting idea. But I'm not an expert for scripting in WOW but i'll try to explain. Seems to me like you are trying to combine a merchant with a static teleport npc. Or, an npc that is like a class trainer but casts static teleport spells instead. I would suggest that you get the program Quice first. You should be able to embed the NPC script into yer database fairly easy with it, it's a great program. Then, I would search over at the ScriptDev2 site for further help in obtaining a working sql code for your npc. But one thing is for sure.... You'll need Quice or someother form of SQL database manager like SQLyog to import the code. after I get my instances fixed for my server, I'll try to see if i can hammer out an sql dump of a working npc code. Either way, i highly suggest getting both programs for creating custom content in the future. i have seen in forums also elsewhere on tips and tricks for creating teleport npcs that should help you get started. With just a little bit of research you should find your answers easily.
Hi reaper-x. Can you tell me please when does the new mangos comes out because there is so much quests that doesn't work and cant complete.Can you look into it please and bring out a mangos that also works with V2.4.0 or better and fix all the bugs but mangos i great man. GOOD job :)
I hope this can help with the npc teleport. This is what I previously did to get a NPC to teleport characters to a location. First, using Quice, I created a simple quest with no requirements, (which is completed the moment the NPC is talked to) that had a (beginning or ending script, your choice), the action is #6 and you get the coordinates by typing .gps while in gm mode at the location in which you wish to teleport to (probably best to do this before hand). This can literally be anywhere, just remember to include the map #, also given by .gps
Hope this is of some help or at least helps out some.
Oh, and remeber to make the quest repeatable, and that you test it with GM off. For some reason I could never teleport while GM was on.

Hey Reaper, Addons such as Atlas Loot Enhanced aren't working. The addon window loads from the icon around the minimap, but when i click on that addon icon, the window that comes up is blank. I tried browsing through the loot menu, and there are no menus present. Any idea why addons don't work? They used to in previous releases of your server..
oops, scratch my last post about addons..was my own stupidity lol. i loaded newer versions of the addon that wasn't compatible with the version i'm running (2.3 instead of 2.3.3 (pointless improvements i don't care for in 2.3.3))

I havent used this since version 4xxx, because instances were not working properly, i.e bosses were just standing there and auto-attacking, not doing any of their 'moves'. Is this still the case in version 5472? Or do I need to manually update the scripts dev?

Your private server won't be exactly like the real server... it'll be awhile before the boss do their 'moves'. Some might work but I'm sure most don't use their moves. Just like the creeps walk through walls and floors, it will take awhile for them to fix it since it already works and its not their main concern.

I have a small problem that I need help with. My previous 5 versions worked but when I did a fresh install this time somehow Silvermoon and the place next to it completely disappeared. The buildings and everything in those areas are missing.
I set the server up and enabled the expansion but the bloodelf and other new class are grayed out. Which I believe is causing the two places that I noticed to be gone. What's strange though is that my friend has a bloodelf warlock and is able to play... but you can't create new. I'm puzzled as you can see, it's probably something really simple. I was thinking of waiting for the next release and re-extract everything to see if that will fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, and yes I have the expansion installed as well. I'm sure I enabled the expansion anyways... I reloaded my dumped characters so it should automatically be enabled for that. I'm sure I hit "1" when it asked about the expansion in Reaper's Batch file. Man I have a headache. :(

There Is No 3.x.x Patch Only As High As 2.4.2
And No If The Server Is 2.3.3 You Must Have Your Client At 2.3.3 It Isn't An Ascent Server Where As Long As The Dbc Number Is Same You Can Login.

2. Make Sure Your Client Is At 2.3.3,
3. If Those Don't Work Grab Your Map Folders Again
And Make Sure They Are In The Right Directory(Or Else Mangos Won't Start)

I feel the frustration some of you feel. Reaper should be able to pop out an update easily because everything is available for it to happen. I guess he must be really busy or still hasn't fixed his internet issue.
I was waiting because i like the easy updates. But i guess I'm going to turn to projectsilvermoon.net. There you can download the latest DB, you can download mangos servers from other people (much like reaper's own), and there are some FAQs there. Not was easy to implement as Reaper's releases, but not that hard either if you already have some experience.
Yea, i just downloaded everything i need from there and after finals im going to put my server back up with the latest version. If some of you are still waiting waiting, i would recommend checking the site out. They've had the latest version there for about a month already.

If Reaper has neither the time nor the ability to even answer the pleas of his devoted, then I suppose we have no choice but to move to a different project. There is a limit to anyone's patience.

I have a quick question. I will still want to play WoW on the live server from time to time. So can I have two installations of WoW on one PC so I do not have to upgrade for live then go back to 2.33 for the server.
Like say have:
C:\Program Files\WoW\World of Warcraft < 2.3.3 version
and at the same time have a
C:\Program files\World of Warcraft < Live version
Both on the same PC?

Although It Would Be Hard If He Releases It For 2.4.1 or 2.4 cuz if i am not mistaken the public client is at patch 2.4.2 (which mangos supports or at least ascent does even though its not the official ascent) But Apparently WotLK is At 3.0.1 or sumthing i have the downloader for it fromn the link that was leaked and shut down the last i heard of

I don't really think that even if Reaper doesn't support your compile that it will be that big of a deal. Yeah lots of newbs on this site might really mess up their WOW servers by attempting to use your compile because it doesn't have a "Click me and your server is updated and good to go" button like Reaper's but that's their decision. I know that I'll be using your compile because it won't affect my upgrade from Reaper's previous compile to yours and then back to his next one.
Changing from Reaper's compile to yours and back to his is as easy as dumping your character and realmd databases into a backup folder and then reloading it when you upgrade. But I know that many do not explore what they can do and just stick with what their given. Please if you will can you compile a release for those of us that know what were doing and just let those that don't experiment at their own risk? Just make sure you put a warning up saying the risks and it will be fine. Thanks in advance for whatever decision you make.

Ummmmmm, why is it that every site you people upload the maps and vmaps to keeps bullshitting me for "premium" access to download? I mean, isn't there a single damned free uploading site that can be used? If not, then, lol. I am currently trying to get this version to work and the only thing I am missing is the maps. Extractor doesn't work for shit, unless double-clicking it isn't the right way to iniatialize the process. Help would be appreciated on this.

If the exe is missing your anti virus removed it because it thinks its a trojan. (This is waht you get for using Norton it can't tell the difference between a virus and a simple exe) AVG FOR THE WIN!
works perfectly yes but.. i still got a major prolem :S it looks like in the outland ....(nagrand , hellfire , netherstorm ,blade edge and shadow moon ) there are massive spawns of mob and when i mean massive ...its amazing ..like 20 time the same mob at one spot...now i dont know if you noticed it or if its me but only zangarmarsh dont have this problem all mo are perfectly spawned :S and it hapen only in outland and i will like allso to know how to fix illidan...when he get to 50% evyone just...die when he calls the 6 eyed demons ...if somone know how to fix my problemes please contact me at a-c-lock@hotmail.com (hotmail not msn...) becuz i would love to run this server perfectly with out mob spawning geting a lil funzy thx
and i tought of deleting them one by one...but picture this!... over 500 mob on each map... X20 ? hell no T_T would thake me days doing the hole thing whit cartogrphe :S so if somone have a patch or...anything ! i need it
I have wow version 2.4.2 and when i create the server and try to log on, it gives me an error that the game cannot validate the version. I belive this is due to the fact this server creates a 2.3.3 server, could someone tell me how to downgrade my wow, or where to upgrade magnos, any help would be appreciated.
i got the private server when it was 2.2.3 , how do i upgrade it and what is the new realm list for the server ?
I have been trying to set up my server for 2.4.2, that is the current version I have of WoW, but I can't get ad.exe to stop crashing at 41%. I run Vista. Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong, if I need a specific version of it, or if I maybe have too much stuff in my WoW folder.. Or really simply someone have the maps for 2.4.2 >.>

I keep finding viruses from every mirror I try did the repack change? Or am I doing something wrong?
