Reaper Mangos 5225 - Easy WoW 2.3.3 Private Server

Since the situation here has been resolved (Thanks God, although it’s still raining here but well at least i hope there’ll be no floods again), i’ve decided to release another update for Reaper Mangos :D so to those who are wondering whether there’ll be another Mangos update for WoW 2.3.3 here is my answer ;) … and just like before this update contains Project Silvermoon Database and Unified Database so you can switch between them freely (and choose which database suit you best) ;) … other than that i also included several other custom patches (i’m not too sure whether it’s stable or not but i guess you can check it by yourself)
To summarize it … the custom patches that gets added into this version are:
- Auction House BOT
- Spell Damage Correction
- Quality Based Variable Loot Drops
- Multithreaded Map
And using :
- Mangos Core 5225
- Scriptdev2 254
- Project Silvermoon (PSDB) X7 with changesets 223 applied
- Unified Database (UDB) with changesets 338 applied
Also i’ve made lots of adjustments / changes / whatever you called it into the reaper-x-mangos so to those who are new into Mangos World can also setup their own WoW Private server easily like function to repair database automatically (just in case your database crashed), better checking, etc and will probably add more feature in the future … and well basically that’s all about it :)
Note: I have only tested it on Windows XP SP2 only because i do not have Vista, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2000, Windows 98 / ME installed
As for the instruction manual to those who are going to perform fresh installation, you can follow below link for the instruction on how to use it (the most important part is the MySQL Installation and Data Extraction)
- Reaper Mangos Installation Guide (the instruction is a little bit outdated because i’ve made lots of changes into the reaper-x-mangos and i’ll update it later or will rewrite it) … but you do not need to worry because basically the installation instruction is just the same :)
- Instruction on how to use Auction House BOT (look at the Using Data Restored from my normal Mangos release or other release section, step number 9, i’m sorry that is from the old release and i’ll make sure to rewrite it again later to provide better explanation)
- as for activating other feature such as Quality Based Variable Loots and MultiThreaded Maps, you can take a look at mangosd.conf directly
And to those who wants to upgrade from Reaper Mangos 5116 into this version, all you have to do is just run the reaper-x-mangos and choose to upgrade it (i’ve decided to merge it into one file to make future changes easier) … but make sure to create backup first before doing it, and to create a backup all you have to do is just choose option number 2 and the backup file will be saved under backup folder in reaper-eazy-mangos directory :)

And finally if you get a virus alert from your Antivirus saying that reaper-x-mangos.exe is a Trojan, Suspicious File, etc … you can ignore that message, i guarantee that file is clean and that is a false alert / alarm generated by your antivirus (i have Kaspersky 7, NOD32 v3 and AVG Free installed on my machine and always make sure that everything here is clean) … and as a side note, AVG previously marked that file as virus but i send them an email message saying that is a false alert and received a reply from them in just 1 day (if you want i can post their reply here) :)
p.s If you would like to share your extracted DBC Files (from WoW 2.3.3 other than enUS), VMaps and Maps (from WoW 2.3.3 Client any region because it’s impossible for me to upload it), by uploading it to your favorite file sharing website, i’d be delighted to put the link here for other to download. And all you have to do is just leave a comment on where you’ve uploaded that file ;) … or if you know some other Mangos tools that might be useful to those who use Mangos, it’d be great if you could post some more info about it and where to get it :D

I really like the new installation interface. Granted I always set up my network manually in SQLyog, but everything else looked spot on!

Having lots of crashes with displayid = 0 errors. I think it has to do with morphing.
I'm up and running without any problems at all.
I morph alot of the players in my family to gnomes all the time without any errors. I also use (.setvalue 153 image id#) to set new images for my family's character without any errors or crashing, with both 5116 and 5225 now.
I am currently running 5116 on one computer and 5225 on another computer as my test server, both accessable from the same realm list without any crashing or errors so far.

I love the work you've done, the server works great save for one note. I cannot create a Warrior 'class' character, I get the error

lol, i messed up big time. i was trying something out yesterday and kind of destroyed my MySQL database :) now nothing works even though i've reinstalled it so i'm going to do a fresh instalation now :P

and my drop rate isn't working right
I am running a server for the crew of my ship and I posted a request for a html account request site...I never got any of them to work for some reason. if you have one that works could I get a link please. BTW I love this stuff I am learning so much about sql and batch files, I am currently tring to make a server for Hellgate London. I am having some difficulties when starting the mangos.exe file. It starts loading and then get to "Loading Corpses" and then a message on a new window says "Mangos.exe has stopped working and needs to close" Running this computer on vista by the way.

Everything seems too work correctly, but the configure/install exe(reaper-x-mangos.exe) seems too add 6 copies of the rate.drop.items line. Might be an issue with the configure file or it might just be a problem on my computer. easy fix, and it looks good though.

It's not just you. It did it for me as well. Easy fix though. I just removed the extra entries and all is well.

I had this problem with one of the earlier rev's.
I did some digging and it turned out that my 'character_queststatus' table was corrupted. **that was the table that would not load for me**
sounds like it may be your 'corpse' table in the 'character' database. Use Sqlyog to give it a look and see if there are any strange entries. (if you have experience with SQL)
If you have a fresh install I would re-install Mangos and the DB. If you are upgrading, do a character back-up and reinstall fresh. That fixed my issue.

Problems changing the drop rate, changed it from 1 to 50, 80 100 and it just gets worse.
It is set to 100 at the moment but the drops seem to be default.

I noticed that the money drop scales accordingly to your settings, but I did notice that the item drop has not changed. I'm going to do some digging and see if I cant figure this out.
I did notice that using the reaper config puts several entries in the mangos.conf for drop rates. try to manually remove all but one and see if that helps.
what gameplay bugs though? is fargodeep working? level12 redemption quest?

Deleted all the ones but one, still having the same problem. Just an idea does the apps convert to 80 or .8, at 80 the drop rates is worst then default.
DBC link is dead. It wouldn't really be a problem if i could get the extractor to work, but it always gives an error when i try to extract dbc.

Just tested it. Money scales perfectly. went from 0-500 in 10x increments. Worked fine.
Items on the other hand are not. Mangosd is not seeing the setting in the Config file for 'Rate.Drop.Items'
I set it from 0 - 100 and there was never a change in the average amount of loot. This could be a couple things, but I'm leaning toward a Mangos 'core' issue.
If I come up with something I will let everyone know.

I place all the DBC extraction files (copy/paste) in my '..\world of warcraft\data\EN(xx)\' folder and haven't had a problem.
What errors are you getting when you try to extract?

Hi Guys! Just wanted to say that I am seeing the same thing with the Drop rate in the mangos.conf. You get a few instances of the item drop line and even if you remove the others, leaving just one, it seems to have no effect.
I even tried removing the 's' from the word "items" in case it was a typo in the config but no joy.
I guess there is something fundamentally wrong with this particular variable, hence why it is initially created so many times?
Once that is sorted, this will be an absolutely awesome release (not that it's not already awesome) :D
Does anyone know if you really need to have World of Warcraft loaded on you computer you have your server loaded on?
I keep a backup of the DBC and maps folders of the current release of WoW and just copy it to my reaper-x folder called "data". Then change the path in mangos.cof file.
It seem to work ok. Has anyone else ever not installed WoW on there game server?
Well it looks like the mangos is not 'calling' for that variable in the mangosd.conf file (for Rate.Drop.Items).
Most likely an omitted/REM'd line in the core code before it was compiled. Heck could even have been a typo.
Prolly have to wait until the next release for a fix. Unless I can get my slimy little hands on Reaper's source...
Hello everyone, well it seems i made a mistake during the regex operation used when replacing the mangosd.conf (if you're using reaper-x-mangos to adjust the config file) and i'm really sorry for this and it'll be fixed in next release (or i'll upload a fixed reaper-x-mangos again)
to fix it you'll need to open mangosd.conf and search for

as i said before i take virus / security report seriously and my file doesn't contains any trojan / virus (even i have to send email to AVG previously just to tell them about that false alarm)

And if you still dont trust me, feel free to send the file directly to your Antivirus vendor so they can check it directly (because i have 3 Antivirus already installed on my computer) ;)

It works just fine that way (and saves a heck of a lot of space on the server), I would run that way myself except my server is the only PC in the house, so it's just easier to leave my WoW on the server.

I got this problem after updating.
Mangos and Realmd can not connect to database anymore ( acces denied for user 'mangos@localhost').
When I check MySQL it says that the Current user is: root@localhost.
reaper-x-mangos.exe asks: What Username would like to use for mysql acces?
If you do not know what to write press enter.
Option 1: The username shall be root.
I did not get an error message from MySQL on the weather test so I press (N).
No I Back-up my Mangos Character Data. all ok
When I choose Upgrade and used Silvermoon database I get Error 1049 Unkown database mangos/scriptdev2/characters.
I use restore mangos Character Data and exit.
Realmd and MAngos still can not connect because of ( acces denied for user 'mangos@localhost').
Option 2: I shall fill in no username and just press enter. All ok until upgrade and then the same Error 1049 Unkown database mangos/scriptdev2/characters.
What to do? Will a fresh installation help or is there an easier way?
Sorry for my long comment but I am Dutch and if I don't tell the whole story step by step I can't understand what I am writing myself :-P
ps When I use "Mangos" as username ( like for mangos@localhost) I get an error at the weather test.

I always wonder if you could. Last night I formated my test server and forgot to load WoW before loading the new Reaper-X. But everything seem to be working ok.
I just don't get rid of my older stuff and over the years I still enough stuff to build 3 spare computers of slower speeds.
Also, has anyone else noticed that the spawns are really low in areas? Family member told me some of the quest were not working and the spawns were low in the Draenei newbie area.
Just wanted to say thank you to Reaper, this is alot of work and most seem not to think about that.

I applied the workaround for the 'Rate.Drop.Items' issue and it works. I didn't see a big difference until I hit 10x in some fields, but to be honest I like being able to control the item drops in more detail this way. Something to think about in future releases...

There is not a .bat file in this release. everything runs from 'reaper-x-mangos.exe' in the '..\reaper-eazy-mangos\' folder.

when i run mangosd and realmd i get errors. mangosd says " Could not connect to MySQL database at 127.0.0.1: unknown database 'mangos' " and realmd says the same thing only with "unknown database 'realmd' ". what did i do wrong?

Ooh, did you update some of the .tele locations yourself? Several of them are in far better locations then they used too be. They are a bit safer too use now.
So no problems here yet really but I was wondering, is there a page of some sort or can be simply explained the difference between the Project Silvermoon database and the UDB?

Hey there nice to see you back and tx for the new update. Can you please make or put a patch in the next update so you can change the lvl cap above 70 to like 88. I just when you do it in the config file it dose not work in game after lvl 70 you get the xp but no lvl ups.

How can I make a vendor or npc that people can get a spell casted at them with a level up cmd. Ex: There is a npc that people can come to to get a lvl 88 after they are a lvl 70. How can I do this? Dose it come in a quest template or item template?

Ok, when you open the reaper-x-mangos.exe file, it asks for your Mysql account name and password, then asks you to name the database folders. Did you put in a custom name for these folders or did you just hit enter too leave the names as the default ones? What most likely is wrong is that you have different names for your database folders in the mangos.conf and realmd.conf or you might have the wrong password in those files. You may have simply hit one extra button on the keyboard when typing them in. Check this and repost if it does not help and we'll continue from there.

i did a fresh installation twice and i'm having the same problem...i followed the steps reaper has to configure mangos and before i setup my server for public use it says to make sure the mangos configuration works....so i create a character no problem connected to 127.0.0.1
after i created a new character i ran reapers-x config to set it up for public use i followed those steps just like he wrote them and i login and see my test character i made while i was connected to myself...but to be safe i created a new character and once again my characterlist disappears...my cmp prompt shows i created the new character but neither one are on my character screen now

Hi Reaper, i installed the new release, but the problem is, so far only One person can connect to my server, other 2 or 3 ppl get stuck up in World loading screen after the bar reaches to full, then they getting d/c but myself i can connect without any trouble.

usually that happen because the character data haven't been properly saved to the database, i often type .saveall before closing mangos just to make sure that it gets properly written to disk :)

Upgrading from 5082, after a successful run of the install exe (past the user/database selection stuff), it asks UDB or Project SDB. Selecting either gets me the error
"ERROR 1146 (42SO2) at line 1: Table 'characters.guild_bank_eventlog' doesn't exist.
Hey Reaper-X, could you please help me with my seriously annoying problem - when i've installed the server with mysql and all that, i create a char, works fine....i create ANOTHER char and i cant see any chars, btw i've had this problem both on version 5225 and 5116, both with that fresh installment guide you also made. Please help...

When making a second character both characters dissapeared from loading screen.
However if I deleted character 1 before making char. nr 2 then char. 2 will be visible. Has this something to do with Mangos.conf?

hey thnx for the help. i realized i forgot to install a database and once i did that everything worked fine. also realized i was entering random names haha. So i just hit enter and it was fine. thnx for the help.
auction house not working...set up my character for auctions, ran the wizard and provided the guid as requested...no errors.
then i go to the auction house and there are no items.
Also, i can confirm world npcs are not casting correctly on your version reaper, they send one spell then start to melee.

ummmm, i have expansion enabled in the magosd config file...but it wont let me play BE or dreanei or go to outland (even though i can see the maps). any advice?

You need to make sure that the Player Account that you set up is set for expansion.
Type this in Mangosd:
setbc 'accountname' 1
*no quotes
That will enable the BC expansion for the account.

this was my process to get the AH bot to work:
I created an account 'auction'-note the AcctID of the account.
Then I set the account for 'setbc 1' and 'setgm 3'
I created a character on that account 'auctionbot' - note the GUID of the character.
In mangosd.conf you will need to edit these lines:
#Auction House Bot character data
AuctionHouseBot.Account = AcctID (mine was 7)
AuctionHouseBot.GUID = character GUID (mine was 4)
You will also need to edit these lines:
AuctionHouseBot.AllianceItems = (I use 500)
AuctionHouseBot.HordeItems = (again 500)
AuctionHouseBot.NeutralItems = (I used 200)
I hope this helps and it worked fine for me. There are other commands to tweak your AH. I would get a really good feel for the Mangosd.conf before really messing with it though.

an update on my status
each time before i close mangosd i do a .saveall
but i thought about testing something...so i did tried what #Lemon was saying...i deleted my old account and made a new one and i can see the first character i create but when i try to create a second then the character list goes blank

I am running into the same problem as Ben. Not sure if I'm missing something. Was running 5116, did an upgrade to 5225, no problems at all, everything smooth. Created the reaperbot account, as well as a toon. Logged in and got the Account # and GUID (another pc using the GM account)from both the game and the batch file to make sure it was right. (Account 14, GUID 29). That's what I entered into the mangosd.conf line as instructed.
After running Mangosd.exe and then starting realmd.exe - no auctions. I've even posted some myself incase I needed to 'trigger' something.
Do I need to be running the Silvermoon database? I am running UDB.

BTW - Reaper you rock! I love all the work you've done here.
My biggest wish for this was that the scripts were in place for bosses, and mob pathing (I guess escort quests with events triggered during an escort would fall under that too). Then it would actually be like some of the 'real' WoW gameplay.
BUT - I realize that falls under scriptdev and not your work here on Mangos

I'll analyze it but if it helps anyone else I'm using PSDBx6 and this appears to be x7 so maybe the upgrade expected my 5116 was using PSDBx7? not sure yet just sharing.

I am trying to do a new install with reapermangos 5225. I installed mysql and tested through cmd and it worked. I extracted the maps and moved to C|\wow\Data folder. The problem I run into is when I run reaper-x-mangos.exe it open the cmd window and i type in the path C|\Program Files\MySQl\Mysql server 5.0\bin the window closes and does nothing. It is the corect path to mysql.exe and mysqldump. I also have made sure the firewall is not stoping it . Please help.
I'll probably ditch my customizations there werent very many single custom level 40 armor vendor in gadget and a few custom newbie items like a big bag and handful of basic 6.5 dps weapons to cover all classes and/or provide about 5gp in sellables for the ones they don't use.

OK figured out what I did wrong. The script must default to localhost and I was trying to install to my production machine without switching from my main desktop (my test machine) to my prod machine so the database was not getting upgraded on the prod machine. I also forgot to copy the new mangosscript.dll file over - used to copying three dll's and there was the fourth. It seems ok now.
aaron i had the same problem try this first make sure that one thing i rememeber from reaper is everybody should be using mysql 5.1 once that is done go back to command prom type mysql -u root -p that should work oh reaper welcome back to give you an update i in the tesing now with server 2003 no problems so far i have 300 teenagers trying it with at lease 50 to 200 players on all the time

Read b4 posting. I use nod 32 and there is no trojen. Its a mistake that some of the anti viruses have send it to you antivirus company and have them scan it and tell you if its a trojen or not.

And finally if you get a virus alert from your Antivirus saying that reaper-x-mangos.exe is a Trojan, Suspicious File, etc … you can ignore that message, i guarantee that file is clean and that is a false alert / alarm generated by your antivirus (i have Kaspersky 7, NOD32 v3 and AVG Free installed on my machine and always make sure that everything here is clean) … and as a side note, AVG previously marked that file as virus but i send them an email message saying that is a false alert and received a reply from them in just 1 day (if you want i can post their reply here) :)

I am stil having problems i'm install on windows xp sp2 I did change to mysql 5.1 as Will mention but it does the same. When I open reaper-x-mangos.exe it opens a cmd window with my sql setup and it asks mr for the path to mysql.exe and mysqldump.exe. on my computer it is C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin when I enter it the window closes and nothing happens. I'd suggest you to get MySQL 5.0.x series instead of MySQL 5.1.x and above series because i haven't tested that one (mysql 5.0 and mysql 4.1 is the stable version and has been tested on many servers not just for mangos only) ;)
i use mysql version 6.0 with windows XP (though i have both xp and vista on my pc im using some kinda bootmanager, but i use XP atm)

yes although its still going to involve the database creation process (UDB / PSDB again) and you'll need to type several command line and will take a while unless you want to backup the character data only and restore it later.
but i cant promise that it'll work because i havent tried exporting from mysql 6.0 version or 5.1 and import the data into 5.0 version
the easiest way to do this without doing full backup that involve command line is :
1. use reaper-x-mangos to backup character data and realmd data
2. stop the mysql service via Windows service manager to make sure the mysql service can be removed completely and then uninstall mysql 6 via add remove programs
3. install mysql 5
4. start fresh installation, and choose to restore your backup

from your error message it looks like that you didnt install / import the database properly (every table listed from your error message is missing), i'd suggest you to start a fresh installation instead :)

Hey reaper, very impressed as always with server. got it all set up properly the otherday then hit a snag, when i log in and create a character, the screen shows no chars on it, this problem is relatively new because i have had it working before. Even when i go on the realmlist it still shows ammount of chars i have as 2 (the two i created). Help will be much appreciated man.

I dont think reapor would give you a virus so you could always disable your ati virus for that part of the installation.
I have been useing reaper mangos since 4973 or so and i have never had anything harmful to my computer from reaper, besides think his sites would be this busy if there was a virus in there?.

Yeah but how do I do it?
Accounts are stored in the Realmd database. You should have some way to backup your sections of your database individually. I used SQLYog to create the batches. Then scheduled those batches to run as often as I wanted.
Restoring them is then as super easy as selecting the SQL file you want to restore and running it.
I have a desktop scheduler item setup which will trigger these backups daily at the same time four jobs about 2 minutes apart with the big Mangos one firing off last (because it might run > 2 minutes).
You could also use one of the earlier Reaper batches which included the logic as like option #2 to backup and restore your REALMD and Characters tables. The syntax is fairly straightforward.
My biggest wish for most of these is that some of the behavior within the instances woudl be more blizzlike.
For example, we tried Blood Furnace last night and there is like basically no event. You go into the room with the giant Squid beholder guy and he is not behind the bars but right in the middle of the room. Making it tougher by adding a stack of mobs doesn't make up for the fact that the script really doesn't exist.
Normally, you know, you fight waves of hellboys from the side caged room but that whole sequence just isn't there. Instead they have like four uber rogues standing next to squid head which makes it quite a bit tougher kind of like earlier when they had like a dozen 5k imps nuking the tank and healer faster than you can say healme!
Any idea where to look for improvements in these areas?

just 1 question, at the past update i swithed to PSDB and it placed some custom portals in certain areas (boats and blimps stops). now with the new update they are not there anymore so i would basicly have to go place them back and all my custom portals i placed in start areas are gone as well.
funny thing though in this (unknown area) i port to test stuff everything is still there portals and all.
anyways its no big deal, all the boats and stuff work flawlessly and fast(thx to reaper easy mangos :)) so i wont miss those portals.
just wondering why that happend, any ideas?

I can create a character and play just fine on the pc that reaper is installed on .. but the on the computer thats through a router on same network i am stuck in a loop.. i connect log in see the realm name but can't enter the realm any ideas?
hello, I have a problem, I edit the database for items but they dont update, is there a way to update this? I sucessfully created my own custom item but i want to make it one handed lets say, by changing the subclass, which is 7. I see no change. I have the item in my inventory. I also changed the description which should have also changed.

lookup changing the hosts file on the computer you want to play on and the realm ip address of the server. If you can share files across the network then everything else should work.
Hey. Just wondering... do all the annual events work properly? I tried to setup the "love is in the air" event right now. Mangos says that it started it up, but i didn't notice anything different in the world for this event...
Maybe it's just one event... It's late so ill try the other out later. Anyone get that even up and running (esp in the past few days when it was set to run)?

if u see the realm but cant connect and u have gone thru all the steps on making server public, then the u have to go to your C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc folder and open the file called hosts in notepad.
add a line under localhost it should look something like this.

also when i have people connect i tell them to use the adress yoursever.no-ip.com:port# in their realmlist.
As usual a great update...however i have a little bit of a problem. When I back up my character data from the 5116 > 5225 version...they dont seem to work...it says "cannot find and awhole bunch of stuff follows" however...i always keep my previous version on hand to make sure nothing get corrupted an have a backup as well...basically what happens in 5225, it loads fine no issues....but when i make a new character or try to load an old one (cause my char list still shows all my chars) it just disconnects me....when i fire up 5116 everything works as intended...any clues to this? or am i missin somethin an its just the 5am i havent slept yet idiotic thing goin on again through my head xD

the common way to do it in Linux is by typing from shell

Could you tell me what is the error message ? btw i just tested by doing fresh installation of Reaper Mangos 5116 and then create new character equipped with tier 6 armor to make sure that if i'm upgrading i can see the differences clearly and ... it works just fine (in other words i cant replicate it)
btw here's what you should do to upgrade from 5116 :
1. Run reaper-x-mangos.exe in 5225 release, and then choose backup (dont worry it wont overwrite old backup because the new backup filename will be using date time and seconds)
2. Choose to upgrade, and choose to upgrade from whatever database you're using previously (for example if you use UDB then you should choose to upgrade UDB)
3. And done ...
btw if you still get the error message, could you tell me what is your Operating System and MySQL version?

Text patches are SQL files. Open notepad and paste the text into notepad and then save it as patch.sql then run it with SqlYog or mysql.exe command line if you know how to do that (looks like mysql database login password < patch.sql or something along those lines)
@Lurthor: yes double check your realmd - realmlist and make sure it has the proper IP address. I think it should be the same as in the IPCONFIG for Lan play and the same as Public WhatismyIp.com for Internet play.
@Sephiroth: After restoring 5116 characters to the workint 5225 Mangos you will need to again upgrade the Characters table format. In my case this was the file to alter the needed tables. You should find it in a similar location and just run it. Then once you are in 5225 format make sure to back it up.

One last warning. I had one character go all wonky and wobbly with 5225 where he was missing talent points and I tried everything from leve up and back down and down and back up and as he went higher level was losing talent points. Finally the system just wouldn't start Mangos just dropping out after running through most of the startup sequence loading this loading that you know and I would up restoring my 5116 a second time and converting it again to fix it losing everyones progress for most of that day which of course suxd but oh well at least its back up now.. So be aware this is an area I would keep in mind to store your old CHR's just in case.

at least we dont actually lose the custom ports they are still there in the database, just gotta .addgo back into the game. considering all the time and work u have put into these great releases, placing ports is the least we could do. im just happy to be able to use reaper easy mangos.

just 1 quick question, the way i found to make custom ports is by modding the coordinates of tele spells with sqlyog after i find the spell# the port is using in quice.
for example i made tele to ratchet - tele to gmisland. (works fine), but theres only so many premade ports i can edit before i run out.
now my question is this, how come i cannot create new spell id #, i tried to create a spell for port with the number 99999 as the id.
i see the console telling me when i try to use the port that spellid 99999 doesnt exist.(maybe im out of range, number might be 2 high)
what am i doing wrong, or is what im tryin imposibble. i have a feeling i have to also edit somewere else in the db but dont know where...

@Kane: Spells are in the Spell.dbc database file in the dbc folder. There are several related DBC files which are all - I believe - some form of foxpro data tables. There are editors which allow you to dump these into like CSV for Excel or whatever but I have not been able to actually find any way to create new spells that would be nice.

Those are not sql patches dose are compile patches. I know how to update sours with a patch, but I don't know hot to make a patch file or more how to convert that text patch info in to a file.

@Gearshredder: item udpates require two things. (1) restarting Mangosd.exe and (2) deleting the cache folder within your warcraft client program folder which apparently caches items. I see where the hacking comes from in retail now. People cache items with better stats and such and then log into production wow where their items in game do not update because they have cached improved stats.

have u gone thru all other steps to make public, because i remember tryin everything i could find about making it public on this site and google search,(doing all the steps described), then stumbled upon that last peice of info about the hosts file, and thats what made it work for me in the end.

was wondering if anyone was getting the "fighting" bug...where you right click a mob an you got into "fighting" stance for about 4 seconds then immediatly stop...its been happening to me for 2 versisons now was wondering if anyone has the same issue and how they fixed it.

Ok Guys just a little update on my problem. I am connecting to the server fine, even when configured for LAN, but everytime my PC, or my brothers trys to create a character it throws up an error. The actual character creation goes through fine, shows up in mangosd.exe(i think thats file name) as character created 'testchar' for example, but when i go to my character screen, its still blank! also tried creating 10 random chars, and now realmlist screen ingame shows 'My server' and under characters '10', thus i am unable to make anymore or even log in and play :P.
Any advice / help would be appreciated if anyone else had this problem.

Ok, another update, uninstalled MySQL 6.0, installed 5.0, then hit a new snag, when it finishes install i clicked instance config manager, and then i get an error,
'This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel.'
Any help on locating set associations control panel much appreciated.. :P

There is no longer a reaper-x-mangos.bat file in this release. everything is run through the 'reaper-x-mangos.exe' file in the 'reaper-eazy-mangos' folder.

So i was rockin a 70 lock, summoned voidy, and told it to attack a SW guard...instead it cast sacrifice. it seems like a major bug as anytime i try to have voidy attack anything all it does is cast sacrifice. anyone know whats wrong and any possible fixes?
Hi, I was just wondering if there's a way to bring back an npc after using the .del command on them. I was messing around with stuff and away he went. It was a warlock trainer from Ironforge (luckily there's more but I'd still like him back)
One other problem, I've seen this on about 2 other servers. When I'm buying warlock skills, I have to keep closing and reopening the window because after I buy one, Life Tap (rank 1) pops up at the top of the list stopping me from quickly training through all thats available. I've tried unlearning Life Tap and relearning it (checking to see that I've learned it in the proper order, rank-wise) and it still comes back.

Just go look up his ID# on thottbot or something then do .addspw ID# and he'll come back. As for the training, there are a couple skills on each class that are like that :( i havent found a way to fix it yet.
Help - trying to set mangosd.exe and realmd.exe as windows services (which I can do so they show up in the services window with the correct path and executable name.)
I'm doing this so I can force them to restart if they ever crash during game play. (It happens about 1 time overy other day randomly).
However when I try to start the service for either of them I get the Windows error: "Could not start the MangosDB service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
I know the path to the executable is correct in the service I created: C:\ReaperMangos5225\mangosd.exe
Anyone know what might be wrong?

I have a new bug to report. Has anyone else tried playing a blood elf and taking them to like gadgetzan and found the system is just completely not letting them use flight paths with 5225?
As GM we tend to .tele a lot but players might find Belfs frustrating. it's almost like some kind of faction bug. The enemy flightmasters are red but cant be attacked and the friendly bathandlers will let you get that flight path but its not linked to any others.
@Sienna: Yes quice should make it easy to look up the vendor in question then just do what he said above the .addspw NPCnumber 1 (remember the 1 after him otherwise he might not be permanent)
Yes you don't have to close and reopen the trainer but you do haev to ignore the bogus skills they pop in at the top of the list at some point. Thats a frustrating bug.
OK I may have spoken too soon. This may just be related to other corruption in grandfathered characters. I made a new blood elf and he works ok so far as flight paths but an existing one that has been converted forward since like revision 49xx will only fly to ratchet from gadget despite getting the other paths to like cenarion, freewind and taurajo, crossroads etc. Its definitely possible to corrupt characters across the series of conversions for whatever reason.
Would be nice if we could clean up converted chrs somehow.
@Lurthor: possibly a firewall issue? Make sure to open all of the needed ports on the server machine that are needed there are at least 2 maybe 3 you will want open. When the realmd.exe hands off to the mangosd.exe it uses those ports
I have a strange problem with the server..Everything starts up fine, and people can log in and play fine..for a time..after the mangos and realmd have been sitting there for a while..the mangos window seems to lock up and not do anything. I can type commands, and enter them, but the window shows no response other than putting a new blank line under the command, if I press enter once again the mangos> prefix shows up again.
I found this out trying to type "info" to see who was on my server and it didn't list anything.
I've also noticed that once the window gets into this state..everyone gets stuck at "Retrieving character list"..and relogging into the server does not fix it.
Any ideas?
I can't seem to get wow to connect to my server I have followed all the set up and install directions but it will not connect. I keep getting "unable to connect" I have changed my Ip address and port forwarding several time but nothing. does any one have a plain Jane setup guide for mangos 5225 from start to finish. I however ran into one tiny gamebreaking problem with a warlock: Master Demonologist, Soul Link, Demonic Knowledge and such buffs that are "cast by the pet" or that affect both the char and the pet, none of those work. Also, the pets do not auto-cast their aura's such as Blood Pact / Paranoia. Any solutions?

Ok Guys, after a sleepless caffine filled night of trawling forums and trying to fix my vista "side by side association problem" i finally found the fix.
Searching how to install MySQL Server I have found answers to typical questions concernig installation in Vista (UAC, side-by-side error fix ( http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=34340 ), firewall, compability), but no complete answer. After spending several hours finally I got my server running. So here is the algorithm.
To install MySQL Server 5.0.51a in Vista
1. Disable the UAC in Windows Control Panel->User Accounts
2. Use mysql-essential-5.0.51a-win32.msi
3. In the final step uncheck "Configure MySQL Server now"
4. Download and run Resource Hacker http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/
5. Open ...\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\MySQLInstanceConfig.exe with Resource Hacker
6. Navigate to 24\1\1033
7. Change
to
8. Press "Compile script"
9. Exit Resource Hacker and save the result (overwrite the initial MySQLInstanceConfig.exe)
10. Now MySQLInstanceConfig.exe should start normally.
11. Configure the server.
12. Sometimes the server doesn't start:
a) Check Windows Firewall settings (3306/TCP)
b) Try changing the compability mode for the file ...\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysqld-nt.exe to Windows XP-SP2.
13. That's all!

And also, my sql is not in the same place as the mangos demon is . As in it's on a another machine. How do I set the upgrade process (it asks for the mysql.exe ..)

I've got items I added all in one number range. They are near the end and this makes it easy to grab the text from a SQL dump of Mangos by searching for a particular item name in my Mangos.SQL - I wrote that text to a small MyItems.SQL file and just reimport that any time I want to add those items. This is important because these items are already ON some of the people adn would vanish if I upgraded without adding those item numbrs back to the item_template table.
The other thing is custom vendors. Backing those up was a bit trickier. It is best to design them and add them as a SQL and then just save it. Vendors have three basic areas needed to add them and they look something like this so you nkow what three areas to look for. This sample vendor is number 73559 in my database.

Im crew at a local computer party, and we are gonna have a wow 3v3 arena compo!
We are planing on using Mangos 5225, but having some thoughts about the upcoming patch etc.
we are gonna make the accounts and chars etc ourself, then give the people that have signed up access to them, as this will prevent cheats when players have GM status to .lvlup etc.

I am trying to update from 5116, I run the update option, but when it gets to updating character, it says it can not find the file specified. everything worked up to this point.

Dude this was a life saver, I upgraded my client and couldn't log into my server. I tried to recompile it with the latest CVS on fedora core 5, but the CVS seems to be corrupted today.
Any way, I found that you don't have to update the DB, Vmaps, Maps, DBC, or World, file, I used my linux binary of the world with all my stuff from build 5019 and just updated the realm file with your windows binary used wine to load it, and boom i can log in again using 2.3.3. No problem, all my custom vendors mobs, etc, etc, etc, work.
I guess that will teach me to use the launch.exe file.

Ok. So i have a bit of a problem with guilds in the new release. I can create one fine but when i restart my server i get this line:
Player [MyChar] (GUID: 2) marked as member not existed guild (id: 2), removing guild membership for player
And then i am no longer in a guild when i log back on...Anyone else having this problem?

ok, got around my problem, fresh install
followed guides to install 5116, but installed 5225 instead, everything worked great till i made it public, all ports are open and uturret says their open, but i can not connect to my realm list server via the server pc, or my main pc.
Well I figured out what I did wrong. Needed to backup character data then restore it. Now it finds everything just fine. So my mangos problems are FINALLY over. Reaper you did A great job on this easier to use then ever man.
Now it time to work on this stupid WoW interface error I'm getting. Going to reinstall wow see if that solves my problem.

hmm after tryin to redo my server back up from scratch i am still having the "fighting" mode start up and end within a few seconds..was wondering if anyone out there is havin the same issue and knows how to remedy it...and for those that have no clue what i am talking about...what i mean is when i click a mob to just do a normal default attack with my melee weapon...i go into attack stance then within about 4seconds it leaves it...and when im right up against the mob i click them to default attack..then i have to constantly click them to keep the attacks going...does anyone know how to remedy this?
What I did to fix the mangos string error was the following in reaper-mangos.exe.
backup character data
restore character data
then choose X to upgrade
done and working now...
@Sephiroth: I'm pretty sure this is because it is thinking you are not close enough to the mob. I remember when it was possible to turn attack mode on even if you were out of range of mobs. Now that they changed it to automatically turn off attack mode if you are out of range (seems it changed around the same time the made the hunter class autoswitch from ranged to melee when distance changed). I liked the change as far as hunters go (doubt they will every fully fix that class on Bliz or private servers), but as far as melee for everyone else refusing to turn on attack mode because you havent gotten close enough to melee yet is just annoying and makes you stop attacking if something moves away from you (or if your system THINKS they are out of range for an instant) which is just dumb.

Hi Guys, for those who are having problems getting people to connect to your server remotely - this might help.
I spent ages trying to work out how to get this working.....
I could connect locally, but was unable to connect remotely (looping at the Realmlist screen). I had opened up all the relevant ports and everything seemed to be ok.
I had been trying to use my Laptop to connect remotely from my sisters house.
- It turns out that you also need to ensure that the ports are forwarded or passed through on that router as well.
changed that router setup as well and tada - i can connect.

Dear reaper, i had download the mango 5225 for my wow patch 2.3.3. Do i still need to download the .NET Framework 2.0 or .NET Framework 3.0? what is the function of this two frameworks, please advice, great thanks.

Ah actually if you have .NET Framework 2 installed and prefer not to install the later version because of it's filesize (if you have slow connection like me), you can choose to skip it and it still works fine
but of course if you want to be able to run future programs compiled/made by later Visual Studio version, you should download .NET Framework 3.5 (with it's huge filesize 197MB from 50MB (.NET 3.0) and 22.4 MB (2.0))
as a side note, MSVCR71.dll only included with .NET Framework 1.1

aye they did do alil change but im talkin like..i was teachin my friend how to tank so we went to mechanar instance...and they were right in her face an she kept havin to spam click heh...and then i tested in several different parts in the world on a rogue char and i was gettin the same ordeal...even happens in pvp caus ei tested it...thought my server was thinkin the same but i even did the .goname command to be literally right inside of the person and it still did it...im still tryin to see if there is some sort of fix for it..like a distance for char attacking or something to that effect but still comin up short heh.
I found the solution for:

I made this error but realized it right away and fixed it, but decided to come on here incase someone else ran into the same problem and overlooked how to correct it.
I extracted the new 5225 files into the Reaper folder, went to reaper-eazy-mangos, and ran the reaper-mangos.bat file that was sitting there left over from 5116, instead of running the reaper-x-mangos.exe file that was created for 5225. Run reaper-x-mangos.exe, it'll do a proper upgrade and you're good to go. I didn't need to backup and restore or anything complicated, just run the proper file. It's a simple mistake but can often be overlooked.

hey i was wondering if anyone knows how to change the xp rate needed to lvl after 70.
it seems to be set at 1billion for all levels 70 and up.
i have my xpkill rate at 5000x its still not enough, takes forever to gain 1 level, so i would rather find a way to edit it, rather than raising the kill rate any higher...

I haven't tried really leveling parsay after 70...even with the 250 lvl cap...however in theory..because of how all levels exponentially grows with xp...it would take an insane amount of time to level after 70 because the mobs will not change there levels unless you add in ya own or mess with them. and obviously as ya level it decreases what you actually get from the mobs as well...and since the game doesnt know or isnt suppose to function in that light...youll be kinda hard pressed to get any decent xp out of the mobs even if you set that xp rate really high. unless you mess with your creatures.sql thing i think...i am not to sure on the process but basically...if your hosting like some sorta rp event or what not you can always reward your players with xp instead of grinding out mobs ^^. Or find some kinda modified database that will deal with that...orrrr wait for WotLK to come out ^^

it probably would just be easier to let that stuff run while ya away then downloading the vmaps an maps...they are both alittle over 1gig an a bit annoying to upload..the only one that doesnt suck uploading is the dbc at 45mb heh. Best try running those extractors again...will save you soooo much time.

If you are able to connect to it through your 127.0.0.1 then it seems like you havent forwarded the correct ports on your router? That is what happened to me atleast...i got a new router the other day and didnt think twice about re forwarding my ports an my friends were stuck in a realmlist loop...so make sure those are configured correctly...and also check that in your mysql under the realmd tab that the correct ips are there
One large question, Is there or will there ever be a spell_template table or compilable sql file in mangos or maybe a side project by someone?

I've tried to start a personal server, starting with this mangos version here, and have hopscotched my way through your various guides and instructions, found my way through various errors and... The only problem I have left is when I try to log in, I get "connecting... unable to connect" even to myself! Any suggestions?
I'm having a really annoying issue, when i spawn mobs they dissappear after some time. How can i make them stay like "forever"? Though this problem doesnt happen against normal npc's i spawn.
Please help me fast, its really annoying because im trying to create a custom instance, and that's a pretty hard thing to do without mobs.
And when i say normal NPC's i mean like stormwind guards and stuff, friendly targets.
That sometime happens when you spawn npc's just restart mangosd.exe and they should be there ok Lemon. :P

the other day i started mangos.exe and it got stuck at loading guilds, and crashed.
i had to go into the db and delete the guilds and memebers. then it loaded properly no prob.
today i wake up to see mangos not responding and had crashed i dont know how long. anyways i go to restart it and now it gets stuck at loading player corpses and crashes.
so i went into the database and deleted the last corpse in the list (wich was in a instance it said) and now mangos loads fine.
whats up with that?

Known issue. Corpses in raid or instance maps causes the server to windows error box on start. deleting these rows from the characters/corpse db table will fix the prob, however it will continue on untill this is fixed.
spell aura 42 has been deleted before call spell proc handler...
spell 5301 has errors, somewhere.
spell 13358 has errors. somewhere.
between 13358 and 5301 the server window will be pretty spammed with errors.
They are having some kinda ai issue.
Anyone got a logical fix for this? :)

Dex this is simple. in the mangos db is the graveyards. add in the coords ya want them to spawn at and toss a spirit healer near it.
Hey reaper, great work to start off, easy as ever but i hit an unexpected error. I made my server work awhile ago with 4703 and then i stopped playing til now. So i checked spelling and double checked to make sure all the files were in C:\
world of warcraft\data, and sure enough the vmaps/dbc/maps were all there. However, for some reason my DBC files are set to Open With: Notepad...could this be why it isnt reading them? If not..What do i do!!!

hi I an haveing problems with installing the data base. I am running windows xp pro sp2. My mysql is at [C|\program files\mysql\mysql server 5.0\bin] and I extracted reapermangos5225 at [C|\wow\reapermangos5225\] and my maps, dbc, and vmaps are in [C|\wow\data\]. Whene I run reaper-x-mangose through the cmd window everything works fine. I get the above screen shot of the setup menu and 1 slect 1 for a fresh install. it askes which database do you wont to install [ 1 ] unified database or [ 2 ] project silvermoon. when I enter 1 or 2 it tells me the [system cannot find the file specified] 2 times. what am I missing or doing wrong please help

If you mssed up your install then erase the added db tables and try again. if you are not using the right programs then get them. if there is still a problem make sure your following the tutorial to the T. Still a problem then post for help :D
Tronnage thats in the config bud, you needa run the mangos installer to run the config editor to get yer shit right. maps dbc vmaps is what it wants usually in c:\wow\data\then the folder names. maps, vmaps, dbc.

You could try to use the repair option or you could go into you character table open up corpse and delete all the data in the table with navicat thats how I fixed it when it happened to me.
Used the repair option, same problem.
Tried deleting the info in the db but then I started getting errors at startup.

Ah if you store the database on another computer, you can import the update locally (on your linux machine) or you can create mysql username that is allowed to connect from remote machine (your windows machine) and then import the update from your windows machine

Just wanted to say thank you REAPER-X finally got my server working over the weekend. It is up after A fresh install of WoW and running like A charm. This really looks like the real thing, not much different at all.
Now to get the GM commands and I'm set, but I more than likely will never use the GM commands anyway. I just like to play with me and my soon to be wife.
Yea sure it was A pain in the but at first but FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS WORD FOR WORD and it will work. make sure you have mangos 5225 and WoW 2.3.3.7799 before doing everything like extracting or then it will be A pain in your a$$ like A hemroid, but worse...

@So2: I "believe" you can clear the corpse table while the system is down. If I am not mistaken and I very well MAY be mistaken, this should simply make the people who are logged out (and would be why I said WITH the system DOWN ensuring everyone is logged out and not an active corpse runner) should then be alive and have no corpse. when they next log into the system.
You might test this by getting killed and then taking the system down and deleting your corpse and logging in and see if you are alive. I'm pretty sure thats how it works. Your dead make an entry in corpses and you rez at your body or angel deletes your corpse from corpses.
@So2: OK I've now read the rest of your thread.
Are you trying to convert to Windows from Linux or are you simply using Windows as your test environment and your production server you intend to remain as a Linux?
If I were trying to do either, I would probably start with a fresh install to Windows instead of bringing stuff over. OBVIOUSLY wanting to keep your existing Characters and RealmD, I would still expect it should be much easier to convert just those two databases from whatever old format to the current format as an "after I have it working on windows" subsequent stage of your migration to windows.
Something like this:
1. Get windows Mangos 5225 working
2. Take baseline snapshot of both systems.
3. compare Linux CHR and REALM backup to windows CHR and REALM databases
4. map the differences and convert my linux CHR and ACCOUNTS to windows new 5225 CHR/ACCT formats
5. Ensure windows still works.
Now if you wanted you could imaginably reverse this and take your windows backup again and restore to Linux (I'd save the first two working snapshots from both systems somewhere still) and migrate that export back to Linux and it should also work with the linux compiled versions of the Mangosd.exe and realmd.exe instead of windows.
@MythicalArcher: I'd also had some really odd errors with corrupted characters and talents and so forth since converting to this 5225 release. Not sure if it was just me or others as well. For the time being I backed down to the prior revision 5116 or whatever it was but then I tried an alternate parallel release from here http://projectsilvermoon.net/index.php?showtopic=8827
Migrating to it was pretty simple and I've actually been running that (first time in months I've run a non ReaperX core). First bug I found on that other version was the Paladin level 7 seal of the crusader was hanging up and bugging - but otherwise it's almost as good as a typical Reaperx compile and isnt crashing or corrupting peoples talents and stuff while I await the next Reaper release to see if I can switch back into it. No offense whatsoever to the amazing efforts of the Reaper.
Seems I have fixed my problem.
All I did was redownload the mangos files and set the configs to point to my database and all was fixed..
Not sure what went wrong with my other though..

Problem was easier to fix than anticipated. Followed the "cleanup corpse table" advice and it just started.
Now I have another problem.
The RoSpora I used for the +5082 versions stopped showing the online users. It's as far as I know the latest RoSpora. Got any advice on what to do?

I setup a mangos server, but when I try to run mangosd.exe, it comes back with:
Some required *.dbc files (1 from 47) not found or not compatible: ./dbc/ItemExtendedCost.dbc (exist, but have 14 fields instead of 13) Wrong client version DBC file?

is the 2v2/3v3/4v4 arenas working for you guys? On my server it is teleporting players into the air falling indefinetly to nowhere. aside from that it all seems to be working right as far as exitig and such and entering, just not the map it's self. Another small thing with it is that you cannot seem to get a charter to form a pvp team unless you are not in a guild, however you can join one if you are in a guild just not form one? seems kinda odd...maybe they are linked somehow. Anyone got any answers to this?

Try to rerun easy-x-mangos again and select I think it is option 2 to back up character data then choose option 3 I think to reload it then hit u for upgrade. This is what I did to resolve that very error when I was getting it. It should start to install A few things you didn't have before.

Okay, I've followed the guides to the Tee
but when I load both realmd and mangosd and try WoW it just keeps saying "connecting.." then disconnects.
It is as if I don't have a Database, but I'm sure I set it up right but now when i go into set it up again (either using the unified or Silvermoon) it says file not found?

I found out the hard way that if you just use the path c:\wow\data as your datadir= path it is much easier. Also with 5225 I think there is an issue with spaces being in the datadir= path name and it not working correctly.
So I just went to my C: drive created A folder called it WoW then went and moved my data file from mangos to it. Re-ran easy-x-mangos choose option 4 when it ask you what your datadir path is just type in c:\wow\data.
Well I would try that if it is giving you that error cannot find .map,.vmap,.dbc please put files in correct path crap...

@Justin484: well if you wanted to see what the database entry for mail looked like you could always mail an item and go look at that in the characters.mail and characters.mail_item tables.
There is still the matter of how to get it to mail it which is tricky. Hmm I suppose you MIGHT be able to simply prepopulate the mail with one mail item for each player in advance. You'd need to set the mail to not expire and simply use like an Excel CSV to make one mail for each Character ID GUID for like the first 300 guids or first 1000 guids or soemthing like that.
Its really much easier to just GIVE them a large bag and a few items in the mangos.playercreateinfo_item table. There is one set of items for each race/class combo. Simply export your playercreateinfo_item table to csv and sort by items. The item they will ALL have one in common is the hearthstone.
Copy those rows with the hearthstone and replace the hearthstone item with a large bag and then save those rows as a CSV file from excel and import that into SQLYog or whatever to add those startup items.
@Swanny: did you go into manage services and ensure the MYSQL service is running (says automatic and started)?
Double check that you can connect with something like SQLYog, then confirm that everywhere in all of the CONF files where it once said

@Zhentar: thats the strange thing - through mangos we can only set SETBC to 1 or 0 but the database came with 8's in that field as I recall and it seems to want 8's in that field if I remember correctly - I think I just do them through sqlyog directly. (very few users all friends and family)
@Death: Why unified db has 917 rows the silvermoon db has 935. Silvermoon is Fun db and not the Blizzlike db and therefore has more of lots of things. More vendors, more portals more "Fun"?

If not I'd verify that and make sure you had one. Then I'd next look at if you had the right root;password in the realmd.conf file.

Please help me! I've done all the install steps, but when I go to open realmd.exe I get "Could not connect to MySQL databse at 127.0.0.1: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' Cannot connect to databse" and from mangosd.exe I get "Cannot connect to world databse 127.0.0.1;3306;root;mysqlpassword;mangos" where mysqlpassword=my password for root in sql. I installed using all the defaults, so the only thing that is my input at all is my password, and that was part of the MySQL install, not the Mangos install. Can anyone help me? Did I forget to install something? What about SDB Full Dump? I've seen that and UDB or something in old install guides, but I have no idea what they are, and they aren't in the newest install guide I can find (and the one I used) at http://www.reaper-x.com/2008/01/30/reaper-mangos-installation-upgrade-guide/

Well, I'm happy to say that uninstalling MySQL (using the Setup.exe file and the uninstall option then reinstalling it) has cleared up my problem. I can now load a solo game :D However, I can't host. I've run option 5 of the easy .exe, and I set my IP address (local, I plan to just do this as a LAN server for some friends.) However, when I go to log on from another computer on the network I just get the "Connecting" but then nothing happens. I noticed that my realmd.exe still shows 127.0.0.1, but when I tried to change this in the realmd.conf file from 127.0.0.1 to my IP, I get "Host: (my IP) is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server" error. What do I have to set up to make this work? I've seen other people asking this question, but I haven't found an answer. Please let me know what I need to do, and thanks so much for all your work!

The only thing i see in the DB is this template ”game_graveyard_zone” and when i open it i see the graveyards ID/Zone/Faction but i don’t see anything like Co-ordinates and such.

i spent some time working on trying to make a graveyard myself to better help you with this and I could not solve it. By the end though I had edited the .dbc file called playersafezones.dbc something like that in yer c:\wow\data\dbc (default) at any rate that and the db. and my gy's didnt work at all. I dont know why though I didnt have any server conflict messages. there must be another table or rule set :/ perhaps one graveyard per zone...but that does not explain places like alterac valley and such.. Anyhow let me know if you learn any more

I just swapped from unified db to silvermoon last night. And I must say there IS A BIG difference. With unified there were no chests other then mission one's. With silvermoon there are, it may run A little slower then unified, but has allot more action. Monsters cast spells in silvermoon for me, but never did in unified. The only thing I have noticed is the towns people don't kill the mobs for you. Then again I only had that problem one time in Ironforge. Guess it was just A glitch.
Also having A PC problem and think that either mangosd.exe or realmd.exe is doing it. After I get done with the game logout of WoW normally. Shutdown mangosd.exe and ctrl-c mangosd.exe then ctrl-c realmd.exe and everything is gone. My keyboard only types in caps letters. If I turn the caps lock on then it is in lower case.
This just stared though could be something to do with the silvermoon db also. IDK yet but will stay informed.
Haven't seenya on lately reaper hope everything is going well there man.

The username and password r fine, but when i open up sqlyog and check realmd has no files in it and when i try to restore it form an sql dump it get an error and doesn't finish all the queries..
How do I edit items, and or create new items, I noticed that Shadelow asked that before but no ones anwered and I need to know that answer myself

It worked great for me! I've been looking for a way to create a private server for a long time and I have finally found an actually WORKING way, thanks to you Reaper-X. There is only one problem, the installation guides were just a little outdated but I was able to create a private server in the end and that's all that matters. Thank you Reaper-x!
@Drak: google "QUICE" it is the best way to edit items that I have found. Be sure to delete the cache folder from your warcraft client software to prevent your system from caching items properties locally and restart your MangosD.exe to get it to pull the new items from the database because it gets cached there as well.
@aqw955: no. Pet ownership has custom talents and custom spells and quests to get those spells and lots to go along with the process of owning a pet. Hunter class (and to a lesser degree Warlocks) are probably the biggest reason all of the "wow emulation" servers mangos and ascent both are only 98% blizzlike and not 100% by now. Rather than spending the time getting all of the instances and everything working exactly as blizzards does, they probably spent six months working on getting all the bugs out of buggy pet classes.
The battle master for arena team 2vs2, 3v3 and 5vs5 don't work it gets you some where off the map. Dose any one knows how to fix this and how to make it so he takes you if your past level 70 like if your level 88?

the realm list shows my server up and running and shows i have toons on it with the account but again it just hangs at connecting...

Could you try deleting the CACHE folder inside your wow installation directory? usually that should do the trick if you're previously able to logon into your server ;)

I have having an issue. I can make your reaper-x work just fine. However I ran your version 4703 for quite a while (a few months). I have recently upgraded the server to 5225 and my character database is quite different it will not upgrade with the server. I have fixed all the missing fields within the tables but in the data sction (where it keeps records of what you carry, money and etc. it keeps telling me that the data is incorrect. is there a tool That I can upgrade the characters with?
Unfortunately the easiest way to do it for now is just by executing the sql upgrade file manually since 4703 :( (i've been trying to make this easier but still couldn't find the best way to do this)

Do you have an idea of what the data is within the data field? I know the money is stored there and a a few others but I cannot figure out what all the numbers are.

Reaper-X, no luck just deleted the CACHE folder and im still getting the same problem. Get to the toon selction screen, and it just bounces between "logging into game server" and the realm selection window.

if you still have the backup file of the 4703, and still have the 4703 release you could try these :
1. Fresh Install of 4703 (note: it'll overwrite mangos database by default unless you use different database name)
2. Restore your 4703 character backup
3. now you need to execute each sql file after 4703 in originalsql directory (from 5225 release) and import it to the correct database name
4. That's it ;)

@ovi: Pointing and shouting assumptions is the basis of every good hunter gatherer civilization! Congrats! Yes the EXE files are compressed obviously and the compression which makes the exe smaller is perhaps the most common falsely flagged as a virus threat known to modern computing. We might recommend that the compiles not be compiled so people would stop yelling VIRUS TROJAN (if you take a minute to flip through the prior half dozen threads you will see this has come up and been clearly refuted several times now).
But it would far be it for me to suggest anything like that to Reaper. Most of us are just happy he does this fine work on our behalf so we can all play more and learn more.

Hope everthing there is going well. Finally got my server up and running and even got it running for LAN pty's plan on having about 10 total on this server. Just wanted to know if there is A way to change the server name in this version. Can't find it anywere in the .config files.
Tried both DB's and I do like the Silvermoon DB better. Has more goodies in it and other things.

@Grimner: Have you made certain your router/firewall(s) are allowing forwarded connections to 3724 and 8085. Local firewall too needs to allow connections. So it works locally? Does it work on LAN and just not from outside the LAN or not even work on the LAN?

You can increase the aggro radius of mobs in the mangos.conf file. Also, you can increase view distance in the conf file, but I haven't used that before so I'm not exactly sure how it works.

Could you try setting the realmlist to 127.0.0.1 (in realmlist.wtf and inside realmlist table) first and test whether you're able to connect using 127.0.0.1 as the realm address

Hey I was not talking about the patch this time but it defiantly sound nice if you can make it happen. I was talking about you know how you have a cam .levelup 88 for ex and ones your level 88 if you go to battle master organizer and try to make a team for 2vs2 he says you need to be level 70 to make a team. Ok Went back to level 70 and bunch of my friends join the server so we can test the arena out. One's we went on que the battle master teleported us some where of the map and we where stuck in one spot.
I couldnt even get the arena que to make a match
it just sat there
at least u got somewhere lol
Oh and Reaper-x can you update your core as off there where lots of changes and the websites don't support the old core any more the register site cant see characters as the name was change to character or something like that. Plus PSDB came out with x8 and im sure there are lots of new patches :) im not saying now when ever you have time. Thank you

Great repack, good to see mangos is still kicking as I've been having trouble with ascent. Is there any way to get the instance scripts working? A private server is great and all but without the instances its fairly boring =\

Ok, I got it to work for awhile; then, when I load up mangosd.exe, it gets to the last script to be loaded and then "Mangosd.exe has Stopped Working". I'll reinstall the whole thing and it works again, then 2 days later after opening the exe file, same thing. I'll exit the program then restart it and does it again. So when it does happen, it won't work until I reinstall the whole Database.

I just figured out the problem. I checked the corpse table in the characters database through navicat and saw a corpse file (so someone was apparently dead when I restarted the program [in karazhan]) and so I dumped the corpse table (just in case) to a file and cleared the corpse table. Then I started up mangosd.exe and it worked. Before, it was in the middle of loading the "Player Corpse" script when it stopped responding. So just use navicat to help troubleshoot if your mangosd error shows access_violation.

Try them both I did. Personally I like Silvermoon DB has more goodies in it. Then again requires more speed or RAM then Unified DB. Unified DB to me has less graphics so requires less RAM, there is also less lag in Unfied. Silvermoon has more graphic detail so there is a little lag. I have 1 gb RAM on my PC so if you have less then you may have more lag problems then I. Just make sure you backup your character data before changing. Then also make sure you restore after you change the DB. Or mangos won't work and will give you file errors until you do.

This was so easy to set up, got it running on a Windows XP virtual PC through Parallels Desktop on my iMac while playing on the Mac OS client.
Runs really nice, including the AH bot (8000 items) on 2gb, just waiting for an extra 2gb memory to arrive in the post!

I've installed MaNGOS 5225 (Reaper-X Repack) everything seemed to work fine apart from arena.
When myself and 3 other friends made arena teams and then joined the arena queue from Shatt we recieved the minimap notification to tell
us that we were waiting in the queue but we never got in a game, we tried rated and skirmish.
My real question is this a problem with the repack I used or is that the current state of arena?
If I compile MaNGOS "vanilla" from source (without patches) will arena work?
I didn't have enough people to check battllegrounds, dose it work if you have enough people?

Bearing in mind that this is my FIRST attempt at this, I did not realsie how it is supposed to work, I had no idea!
What I did wrong, and is a good tip for other first timers, once you run the Mangosd.exe and realmd.exe files, you are not meant to then CLOSE them!! All I was doing wrong was closing these once it seemed they had finished, and then I got the error message "Unable to Connect", but leaving these files going, I could get in!

So, I've always loved Reaper-X repacks. Always easy to use and always near perfect. However, this release just doesn't seem to work for me. Every time it does the SQL test from the bat file, it says that it has to re-run. How do I get past that? Thanks
every time i try to make my server LAN access able but i keep getting the same error after i enter my LAN IP and my realm name the message :

@Will: I think what you are looking to do will, is save a backup of your old database and then selectively only append to a fresh install ONLY the records from your backup which are missing from the database. This could be tricky because sometimes the table formats change slightly from release to release.
The way it MIGHT be possible is on a table by table basis. If you know which tables contain your customizations you simply do something liek a select INTO from oldtablename where somefield NOT IN (Subquery)
Where the subquery would be a select * from the new database-table being inserted into.
Of course if the data exists and was merely altered this approach wont work, but should work for ADDED NPC's and ADDED CUSTOM ITEMS etc things that are typically EXTRA data records.

Figured out how to change the server name. It was not in the realmlist table. Found it under the world of warcraft WTF then A config file in that folder. Could not figure out how to change it with reaper-x-mangos.exe. The easiest way was to goto worldofwarcrat\wtf then find the config file there. Inside the config file you'll find SET realmName "Mars".
Just thought I would let others know.

Its a druid flight form and i think you get it from a trainer and a swift one you get it from a quest.
@glen: you might have another problem if you weren;t getting DLL errors and then suddenly start getting them.
But if you want my DLL's from, my mangos folder to replace any given DLL to see if it fixes anything here they are.

hello there i lookt at ravers post about the tauren flight form and he is right on the private server the flight form is black but it needs to be orange/brown like on the real wow servers is there a way to change that ?
and is there a way to use flight form in the normal worl ?

Try making a guild and using guild chat to type a command such as /g .revive as you can talk in guild chat when you are dead.

I have some more problems that I think I have overlooked some where. These are my two new problems.

Uhm, i was a bit of a noob. I installed the server and everything was fine, but then I was stuffing around with the WOW server gm commands.
I tried to unlearn my characters spells an talents (.reset all), but then instead it reset all the characters spells and talents on the server. The talents is not the issue, but the spells are. I made a back-up as soon as i realised my mistake. I uninstalled the server and mySQL, reinstalled both and restored my data. But the characters still have no spells. But my one character when i restore the data says "All spells reset". Is there anyway to recover the spells and things?
when running Mangosd.exe I get a message saying "Check existing of map file './maps/0004331.map': not exist!
Correct *.map files not found in path './maps' or *.vmap/*vmdir files in './vmaps'. Please place *.map/*.vmap/*.vmdir files in appropriate directories or correct the DataDir value in the mangosd.config file."
What am I doing wrong?

it looks as though u didnt import reaper's realmd database into SQLyog
u need to go to SQLyog and make a DB called realmd then import batch file, and go to realmd DB in reaper-eazy-mangos folder

Can someone put an alternate mirror for the vmap and map enUS files? I don't have megaupload premium and cannot pay for it yet because I am lacking income for I am a high school student.
According to my antivirus program, reaper-x-mangos.exe is a trojan horse called "TR/Agent.Delf.GM". And the antivirus program spams me with errors as soon as I finished extracting the ReaperMangos5225 file. Explaination required.
Read the thing you wrote about the file being virus free, only that I can't touch the file, the errors pop up anyway :P
I followed this guide and didn't get any problems - Thanks alot and also note thanks to reaper for the little problem i had and issue with expansions.. But guess what i have an expansion problem once again..
Ok at first i used Reaper Mangos 5116 i believe and installed a fresh WOW -w/o any expansion and updated it to 2.3.3... I notice i couldn't visit the Outlands and most of the spell when i use GM commands are broken..
So i decide to get the expansion afterall... Which was downloaded from Blizzard.
I run the installer.exe everything worked ok but it took me back down to version 2.0.0
So once again i updated to 2.3.3
I extracted new vmaps.map.dbc
Now as i start up reaper plus wow

Hey, I forgot how to change my port to 7000 again (not in the .conf files).
The 7000 port is forwarded as for my old mangos revs, but I don't quite check this site out as fast as you update, so I backup and fresh install each time..
And I know about my realmlist.wtf and hosts file, just tell me plain, which command or where to change the port.

Hello all and also nice job to reaper for this awesome set up. A lot less confusing then having to do Mysql stuff. . . that stuff was confusing. Anyway. It seems as if I have a unique problem that i could not find on this or other commented areas I seem to keep getting this error while trying to update using the reaper-easy-mangos DOS program.

I thought about maybe trying to make a guild and such then trying to upgrade again. Although I would prefer to have everything up to date before I start getting addicted to it =)
I'm having...a weird and frustrating problem. I haven't seen anyone ask about this or I wouldn't be asking myself but I'm pretty confused.
I've configured my maps, vmaps, and dbc files and they're all hanging out in C:\WoW\Data. So I go to run reaper-x-mangos. I do '1' (Install)...no problem. When I go to '5' (The config editor) and type in my data directory (C:\WoW\Data) it tells me the system cannot find the file. But it's there! I've deleted it and reconfigured all the files, renamed the folder, everything...it still says the same thing.
Argh! What have I messed up? :(

but try putting the folder inside your reaper mangos255 folder and seeing if that works

hey guys i have a prob with creating a char. after i installed everything and got it up and running i tried to create a char, (first time with this :) it just sends me back to the screen that should have my new char with no new char? any suggestions?

u might not have created a characters database correctly or pointed to it correctly
in SQLyog u should have a database called characters with a table called character in it
and in mangosd.conf u should have a line that points to that characters database

sorry im a noob, it took me three days to figure out where to put the maps lol. i get this error when mangosd.exe starts,
"could not connect to MySQL database at 127.0.0.1: access denied for user 'mangos'@'localhost'to database scriptdev2"

Usually ROOT and (Something you made up for a password)
Where it says user "Mangos" is usually the default in all of the CONF files which you should open each one with a text editor like Notepad and find the place where it says MANGOS;MANGOS
Replace the mangos;mangos with root;whatever
Infomative, my realmlist will open fine and display everything correct. Its just with mangosd.exe (I took a film and slowed it down to read it) it says DOTCONF++: File 'C:\reaper\mangosd.conf', line 347: unterminated qoute Could not find configuration file mangosd.conf.
My mangosd.exe and .conf are both in the same folder. My datadir leads to all my maps and dbc.
Any clues why it wont stay open for more than a second?
Everything is pretty much working fine.
(except for some spells like blink and suchs)
Anyway I have this problem if I shutdown WoW wrong
then the mangosd.exe can't really load anymore.
It stops at loading corpses..
I think because obliviously the character didnt die very well =p.
Anyone knows how to reset so that my character are all alive at some other place. Without doing that with mangos or wow already working so that i can start mangosd.exe up again?

I'd say more robust and bug free would be the best. It would be great to have an option to install the custom patches if one so desires. I like how you can upgrade easily from one version to the next. There are quite a few bugs with quests, and some spells, but i'd expect that over time, all will be as it should. Thanks for the hard work!
i think you should always include custom patcher atleast include them as an option. i like the auction house bot and the custom vendors
Ok so i had this problem i little bit ago and some how it fixed itself. I've had a server crash and reinstalled everything. Now i get to the realm select page, i see my server, but when i click into it, it flashes "logging into server" and then goes back to the realm list...i have swapped the realm.WTF to 127.0.0.1 and thats not working ether. Any help would be great..

Im a fan of custom and additional patches. Include all you can in the next release.
Awesome work...been running stable for weeks through multiple builds....until some sort of disaster struck two nights ago.
This is the shortest description I can give for something that took 5+ hours of troubleshooting:
1. Realm server responds fine on 3724, but world server on 8085 ONLY lets local computers connect. I can see port 3724 accepting external traffic using netstat, users see the single realm listed, select it, and it kicks them back out. This symptom is exactly the same as if the IP isn't set in mysql from the reaper batch tool.
2. Both necessary ports are open and responding externally using utorrent or other scanners. My router can forward just fine to any port, and I tested by using ventrilo.
3. I installed a fresh copy of MySQL and fresh install of mangos on a different system, then restored the characters....same issue.
What in the flying hell is going on??
Is my router somehow not forwarding 8085 anymore? Is my ISP blocking the port (seriously doubt it)?
What is the SQL command to change the World Port 8085 to something else, like 10001?

Yeah! Finally got it to work. Seems if you just -read- you can figure it out relatively easy.
I do have one question. Is there some add-on that will give you a way to enchant things. Like some NPC that will do it if you have the mats or the gold?
