Reaper Mangos 5116 with Scriptdev2 247 - Easy WoW Private Server compatible with WoW 2.3.3

This is the old version, get the new Reaper Mangos 5225 instead
Another update for Reaper Mangos, because mangos has officially support the 2.3.3 client of WoW … which means in order to use this, you’ll need to update your old 2.3.2 version into 2.3.3 because the previous (2.3.2) version is no longer supported … and if you still use the old client you’ll be unable to login :)
Also because it seems that some people want to switch database just like the old release of Reaper Mangos, i’ve decided to include the Silvermoon Database once again, which means you can switch between UDB and PSDB to test which one fit best for you ;)
And without further ado, here’s how to use it :
Download Reaper Mangos :
Optional :
Fresh Installation :
1. Read my post on how to install Reaper Mangos from scratch (fresh installation) (i’m sorry the screenshots a little bit old, i’ll update it later) :)
2. If you plan on activating / enabling the Auction House Bot, you can use the Reaper-X-Mangos to get your character GUID and ID, read below for more info on how to activate auction house bot :)
Note: Vmaps isn’t enabled by default even if you’re using the Reaper-X-Mangos.exe to edit your configuration files because some people have problem with VMaps and in order to enable it you need to open mangosd.conf and replace :
vmap.enableLOS = 0
vmap.enableHeight = 0
to
vmap.enableLOS = 1
vmap.enableHeight = 1
To those who are upgrading from the 5082 version here are the steps :
1. Create a backup just in case something goes wrong and copy / move the backup file somewhere
2. Run the reaper-x-upgrade in Upgrade directory to upgrade your character table with the new SQL for GuildBank
3. Now create a backup again so your character backup is using the new char table and don’t run the upgrader again
4. And finally you can choose between Silvermoon database and UDB ;)
Note : If you have already extracted DBC, VMaps, and maps from wow 2.3.3 you don’t need to re-extract it again, but if you’re still using the old DBC from WoW 2.3.2 then you’ll need to re-extract the DBC Files only because the only changed is in the DBC files
Also finally, currently i’m having a big problem and that’s because … the area where i lived got flooded once again (i just hope this time the waters doesn’t get inside my house though like what is happening on February last year / 2007) or else i’d have to evacuate somewhere

I can't connect to my server.
It just says unable to connect..
I tried 192.0.0.1
and my lan ip and public..
it worked yesterday for me but now it doesnt
Kurt could you try using the default 127.0.0.1 ? (change the realmlist ip to 127.0.0.1) and also make sure that the realmlist.wtf file also point to 127.0.0.1 for test purpose to check whether the problem lies elsewhere

ah i believe that is because mangosd.conf use UNIX Line break (not Windows Line Break), if you want to see it properly under windows you'll need to use Wordpad to edit it ;)

Yes, but you'll need to edit the database directly or you can also use this command :
1. open command prompt
2. type mysql -uroot -p
3. type this
UPDATE mangos.item_template SET map = 0 WHERE map = 550;NOTE : It'll not ask for your confirmation (and there are 9 items)

You can switch between UDB and Silvermoon anytime you want :) ... but if you're upgrading make sure that you've upgraded your installation first (and don't run the upgrader again) because of the new structure in your character database (well the new table is for GuildBank) :D
Ok well I got my server to work again but now the problem lies with people trying to connect INTO my server..
I made a dns ip with no-ip.com but people aren't able to connect to it..
I can connect to it MYSELF but others cannot

ok you lost me on this one. What is the silvermoon DB and where do we get it or do we already have it with the 5084 release? (probably not). If we get Silvermoon and install that into different database names so they can live side by side in our MYSQL data folder, how do we tell it to switch to use the other. Seeing nothing different yet I concluded I must have the same stuff but am now capable of switching over to some NEW stuff in this silvermoon database which I don't know where to get that or if I need or should want to.

The silvermoon DB is just like the Unified DB you have been working with just with more custom content for "fun" servers. If you wanna new item vendors like teir1 -6 vendors etc, new quests an such then SMDB is like that. UNified DB is jus tlike normal wow can be. They wont sit side by side parsay...but you can switch between the two without any problems really. As for the guild bank, you need to have a guild in..then in stormwind bank area there is massive square vaults that yu would click on and set it up there, ironforge bank area same thing, ogrimmar has giant vault like thingies to. undercity has some skulls on the corner of there bank and thunderbluff has a big totem outside of theres. click that and follow the prompts

I am having a problem where the pet a player has summoned will kill itself on logout.
IE Summoned Felguard will die, the Soul Shard is returned to the player. Is anyone else experiencing this problem and is there a fix for this?

What DB would you guys recommend? UDB or Silvermoon? UDB seems to be missing a lot of game content, especially late-game instances/outland, and I haven't yet tried Silvermoon; just wondering if they've progressed further than UDB.
Is there any difrence between Silvermoon and normal ?

I just did the Upgrade from 5082 and it was very quick and mostly for the most part flawless.

Let us know because some of us will be able to easily recover from careful backups but others may spend a weekend trashing and rebuilding their server if this isn't the right silvermoon of which you speak. Searches for silvermoon return a lot of old dead links mostly. TYVM!

OK that works and I have cool new potrals and I'm a red santa-gnome and there are harvest foods outside orgrimmar now and all. I just have two questions and one piece of information to be informative =p
OK http://trembon-compiles.6x.to/ this was where I got the repack to update the database - I did the script batch inside and did backup characters then full install of silvermoon and THEN restore characters. No bumps except for the errors launching mangos - anything you can do to help me understand those errors is something I will remain GREATLY THANKFUL for (/bow).
One piece of information to those that keep posting "hey I got cannot log into root @ localhost with pwd: YES). I actually GOT that message. Seems I overwriote my scriptdev2.conf with a new one and there it was I said HEY I see that every day posted on Reaper-X blog. Went into Scriptdev2.CONF file and changed 127.0.0.1;mangos;mangos;whatever to read
192.168.1.121;root;password;database
Find these in all four CONF files and make sure they are CORRECT for your setup! localhost;pwd:YES problemos shuold go away..
I see the new reaper install exe. I was using the old .bat file. This is why I did not see the Silvermoon switch. Reaper do you recomend replacing the whole reaper folder or copying new updates into our existing reaper folder?

I may have figured it out. If you set maxlevel to like 80 instead of 70 it gives these warnings.

For anyone wondering how to import custom items they may have had. The only diff I am seeing between the current 5082 and this new silvermoon is the items all have an extra field at the end named Duration. I plugged in zeroes for this field and they seem to be importing my items OK..

And I made on account for the AuctionHouseBot, but what do I do next to make it work? What do I need to change in mangosd.conf? The name I made for it is (boot) and the id # for it is 5.
QAlexT: I just made an account. Made a character on it named like AHbotnik. Went out to the database characters table and looked at the CHR to make note of the GUID and ACCOUNT numbers and placed those into the mangosd.conf file where it asks for them. It seems to work perfectly ever since. Nothing else needed. I suspect it simply uses that characters bank space to email items won to all winning bidders and to mail unsold items back to people who post and don't sell when time expires.

ok, seem the Demon Trainer's Imp is still killing people that get to close. Just had this happen in the Bloodelf starter zone. The Imp is under the floor and I can't target it to delete it. Anyway to fix this? Other then that everything seem ok for now

and then set your level to 1.
This will make him attack you but not kill you directly giving you a chance to delete him.

Ah that error message means, the stats havent been defined (stat table) for (pet / character) with that level
you can take a look inside :
pet_levelstats and player_levelstats
by default the database has been made for level 70 and below only, and if you set your level higher than that there'll be no bonus given to your char or pet (to be honest, its hard to explain it but i hope you could understand what im trying to say)

I can test out ascent for you. I've played on bliz servers for years. Would just need too figure out how too set up two realmd's on my computer, probably just by following your guide on how too do it, if I'm going too test it on my own computer. otherwise...
Only thing I haven't played before is the end game instances in outland. The guild I was in didn't get that far.

I'm having a problem with friends connecting from outside my LAN. With my LAN IP in the database and in my second computer's realmlist I can connect fine but my friend cannot. If I change the IP in my database to that of my public IP then my friend still cannot connect nor can I. Can someone please help me out with simple instructions? I've tried everything I've found on the site but apparently I'm missing something. Thanks.
justin484 : You're probably behind a router right?. If it's the case, you need to forward the ports 3724 and 8085 to your server's IP.

Yes I'm behind a router but I've already set up port forwarding on those two ports, that isn't my problem. Using my LAN IP I can connect from any computer on my network, but if I change to my actual IP no one can connect.
When I am able to connect on my network I'm using the ip address found by ipconfig (192.xxx.x.xxx) and everything works fine but my friend cannot connect. When I change it to the ip address found at whatsmyip.com (74.xxx.xx.xxx) then he can't connect nor can I connect from the network. I'm not sure if there's some little simple thing I'm missing or what.
do we still need to edit the realm and scriptdev2 conf. manually??

What would be really useful for me would be a set of standard backup SQL of items people usually normally find on an AH. Then maybe script it so every 48 hours the system INSERTS a bunch of typical AH items on 48 hour buyouts so we could go to the AH and find ten stacks of wool cloth and stuff like that available. Maybe make a second AH bot who will be the poster of everything so the expireds go to his mailbox and then automatically purge AHBot number 2's mailbox at the tmie we do the inserts? Just an idea, BUT I hate an empty AH =) dont you?

OK so on the AH idea I think I can do this but I need to know what is the format of the time field on the auctions table? That's gonna need to be customized everytiem or the auctions will all expire instantly
Hi guys, I've been out of the scene for a while and came back with the release before this one. Everything seems to be going great with the server program give or take a few bugs.. (High level Imps in starting areas being one of them).
Anyway the issue that is troubling me at the moment is the quest "Tree's Company" for the alliance. When I go to traitors cove the guy is there and so is the flag, but when I put on the disguise nothing happens... anyone else experienced this? Is it simply not in the DB or can I somehow fix it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a problem NPCs on the map are not or just very slowly moving after setting up a fresh 2.3.3 server.
The big creature in Dolnaar is just moving in a small area not around the path, as it should.

@DomiOh: make sure to set the priority to High for the Mangosd.conf might help.
Also just taking some wild guess. Is your server on it's own machine (helps to be on own machine obviously not the one playing Wow). Is the machine underpowered by any chance?
I'm not having any lag slowness nor seeing any reported really, but my server is it's own separate machine and is a hyper-threading multi-core with extra RAM.
Was your auto-update turned on and maybe it started downloading and installing Microsoft updates in the background? No thats usually 3AM and your post was 1AM (prolly not that). Did you turn off anti-virus? Turn off scheduled late night defrags? etc. etc.
Oh if you really DO have an underpowered machine or less than 2 gig of RAM and want to free up some resources you know look in teh task list and there are 20 things you can;t identify and want to turn some off here is some batch file commands to turn off some of the more likely improvements. READ the REM comments and don't turn off things you need if you need your wireless connection from your machine to a wireless router for example...

That quest simply seems to be too hard to code in for the DBs. I tried it with both Silvermoon and UDB and it doesn't seem to work. Also, I think the Draeni starting area didn't get as much love as the BE starting area. . . perhaps because they're not eye candy or something ;).
I have disabled really ALL what runs on my system.
As I said before - the big creature in Dolnaar does not move around. It makes one step an stands still. The it turns around and makes another step. And stands still again.
The spiders don't attack the player, when the player is close to them.
The player can walk through them. Then they react and walk like they should.

PS: What are the "optional" VMAPS for?
Oh, and I almost forgot. You can bypass weird quests like that in some cases by going to thottbot, wowhead, or similar sites and looking up the name of the next quest in the series.
Once you know the name, type .lookup quest [quest name]. This should give you a quest number.
Next, type .addquest [quest number] and it'll add it to your quest log. In most cases you can then continue on, hopefully to completion of the chain.
I honestly don't know why the Mangos team didn't code in a ".complete quest" command, as it'd be extremely useful for situations such as yours, but we take what we're given, hehe. They do great work.
How do I reactivate the AH bot when upgrading. All my items are gone and its not working. Everything else is doing great. Thanks

Ok this may seem a little off-topic since it’s related to this post instead, but since the other topic is old, I’ll give this a try:
I have a problem. I added a few objects and I can’t seem to find a way to delete them again.
.targetobject does only find a Rich Thorium Vein, and if I do .targetobject 22083 it can’t find anything.
.delobject 22083 doesn’t work either.
Any ideas or support?
In addition, I spawned a boss twice and the second one isn’t targetable or anything so I can’t delete it, this is awful since I spawned it a wrong spot.
Any help?
Additional information; I do no have any experience of editing MaNGoS outside of WoW, so please if you refer to editing tables or other data, please explain it more detailed.

you just do a .levelup 254 on them and org server lvl at 70 so if you want to go past 70 u need to do .levelup cmd.
I've got my server up and running, and I've set it up for a LAN so that my GF and I can both use it. The problem is that she needs to get past my router to connect.
I've set up port forwarding for port 3724. Are there any other ports I need to worry about?

im not sure about ascent internal area lol .. but currently im testing ascent now, and one thing i can say there are big differences between mangos and ascent lol. Everything works fine (latest development rev) but i still need to read some stuff about the scriptdev2 replacement for ascent (well i heard about moon but i couldnt find any stable release for it) and other stuff like their LUA engine, etc lol

you can edit the mangosd.conf and adjust the guid and character id used there ;)

Are you running 64 Bit Windows or Vista (32/64bit) ?

you can try looking at the creature table and look at the last GUID generated (usually that is your spawned creature) or you can also try looking for the boss id in the creature table (well since there's only one boss and if there's another one that means the other one is your spawned creature)
as for GM level based on character level, since the default in mangos isnt based from the character level, probably they've created their own code

Hmm I tried to extract 5116 and it seems I get a virus warning (trojan agent.ntx) for opening the batch file, the main one.. not the upgrade one. Did a virus scan but nothing :|

could you tell me what is your antivirus software ? i've checked it using Kaspersky 7 and NOD32 (latest update) and found nothing :)
CA Anti-Virus see's nothing there. I'm really doubting there is an actual virus.
Hey Reaper hopefully you could give me a hand with this since I believe its my last step before being able to get on my server.
So I did everything on the guide and get to the part where I need to have mangosd.exe and realmd.exe, once I open mangos.exe it opens and then starts saying:
Check existing of map file ':\world of warcraft\data/maps/0004331.map': not exist!
Correct *.map files not found in path ':\world of warcraft\data/maps' or *.vmap/ *vmdir files in ':\world of warcraft\data/vmaps'. Please place *.map/*/vmap/*vmdir files in appropriate directories or correct the DataDir value in the mangos.conf file.
Any help?

I am using AVG with latest updates
This happened when I tried to open the batch file again so i could reinstall database.
Everything loads fine in mangosd.exe until it gets here, and just stops loading. Please help.

I assume that you're able to locate that 04331.map file directly using windows search function. Now could you try moving the data directory from C:\World of warcraft into something like C:\WoW\data ? :)
and oh dont forget to adjust the datadir once again ;)

Are you using this version ? because you shouldnt get that error message because the database that is included already updated to this revision :)
btw if you're restoring backup then the problem probably caused by the old data
Yes i do run windows vista, but on the server i'm now running xp. But still getting error message's ..
Will try to reinstall wow first and then let you know if it helpt.
Found another possible issue I think.
I was messing around in ZG and realised that none of the mobs were lootable.. The corpses were glowing and everything, just the icon wouldn't turn gold to allow me to loot. Anyone else got this?
ehm i don't know if it is just me but my anti-virus system (AVG) detected a Trojan horse agent.NTX (i think) in the reaper exe file where the sql files is.. now i know anti-virus protections sometimes is wrong but i tried to open the file and it said the thing you don't wanna see when trying to open a suspicied virus file..
no offense against reaper-x but this is a bit a problem if it appears to be on the new server?

did find the problem, i needed to install a update from the windows website. Something had to do with .net, atm i am making the dbc files :D
if anyone is having troubles with the AHbot with the new 5116 repack here is the problem.
After you enter your Guide and account number for you character that is hosting the items, look down a few lines. They are "0"'s for item quanity. change it to this.

Yeah I was able to locate the 04331.map with the search function. I still didn't understand by what you meant by:

Oh also im not using my main World of Warcraft folder I made a copy of it to my desktop so I can still play WoW while being able to play on a private server. So would it have to say when I adjust the datadir?

I no longer work on this project. I was going to be doing the Anscent Releases but seeing that it keeps crashing on my Vista I am not sure. At the moment I am working on the Server Mega-WoW which Reaper and I are going to be operating. It will be avaible to the public once Reaper and I discuss more stuff about it soon. Ok....im having super difficulty getting a server online. ive followed guide after guide and i can't seem to get it. it's eaither "20.200.200.200 is not allowed to connect to mysql host. bla bla. or its go through all the setting. and try back and forth to see if i maybe get something right. port forwarding. that dont' help me. i need something more specific. names of what is exactly being forwarded. to what port? dmz? i mean...i tried so manny things....and i can't get it. 127.0.0.1. yeah. easy. got a LAN one werking. but...i no no....im lost. and its frustrating. im dum i know...so don't rub it in.
I apologize if this is off topic, but I would really like to know how to modify a spell. For example Blink is broken on this release for me. If I can find out how to modify spells I could maybe go back to an old release and compare to see if there is any difference and fix it in this spells.dbc.
As it is spells cannot be changed. I must figure out how to decompile and alter then recompile this file. Any help is appreciated.
Another change I would like to attempt might be for example to make the qiraji resonating crystal spell unrestricted and not just for use in an-qiraj because its a nice mount for everyone else and would like to put it on a vendor and make it like level 40 or 50..
Just my preference but I think this could also be fixed in the spells.dbc if I could figure out how to edit that.
@will: Vendors are pretty easy! Using QUICE you can click creature and type in a name like KAFTIZ and up comes Captain Kaftiz! He sells marks of honor at very affordable prices! If you select an NPC and type .delete it will go away and remove that spawn point.
The good news is you can add items to vendors easily and you can spawn EXTRA copies of vendors wherever you want them by typing. Yes you can clone "Captain" Kaftiz as much as you like.
So just go around and write down the names of the vendors and trainers you want in your shopping mall and look them all up in quice and THEN go where your mall will be - some like to use for example the landing strip in northeast Dun Murogh and walk around going

OK OK. I think I got this making portals thing down. If you type in
.lookup object portal to shat
or
.lookup object shattrath portal
That should list most of the common ones you might want.
To insert them where you want them you just do .addgo number
Getting rid of them is a little trickier. You first have to know the number and then you type target number THEN to get rid of it read the targeted message and type
.delobject guid
stub in the guid number from the targeted info it kicks back when you target it. OK so
I add an Ironforge portal with
.addgo 183322
then
.target 183322
it says GUID 59290
.delobject 59290
to get rid of it.
Is it permanent? Not sure.. think so.
Can we make our own custom portals. Probably there are a bunch of odd named ones if you just use .lookup object portal, could almost certainly reuse some of those to set the coords to match your .gps readings of your desired destination - wish I had more to offer but I am filling up Reaper and Oatman's blog like the flood waters already no =)

Most of the portals appear to use spell numbers which preset their destination. Is it possible to create a custom portal to go someplace not already scripted?
@Uberwabbit: Did you follow this guide step by step? drop all of those programs they giev you for extraction into the production warcraft folder and run them and they should extract your maps vmaps and dbc's. Not even sure they need all of them. There is that flag to turn like vmaps on and off you could probably
