Reaper Mangos 5082 - Easy WoW Private Server for WoW 2.3.3

Here we go again, another important and vital patch. Previously we took a vote using comments on the site and asked would you prefer a update that runs 2.3.3 or wait for a more compatible version. Well after countless tests on our Test-Server we have found only 2 very small bugs while running it. I highly recommend updating to this version because it applys major updates to the database and provides 2.3.3 support!

Fresh Install:
Important Note : Fresh installation will overwrite your database
1. First you’ll need to install MySQL
2. Extracting Maps, DBC and VMaps from your World of Warcraft installation
(You can safely ignore the Patch-2, or any not found xxx-2 message)–This only happens if your extracting from patch 2.3.0
3. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside the reaper-eazy-mangos folder, and you’ll see something like below image for an example, and then you just need to write the full path to your mysql installation directory (where mysql.exe and mysqldump.exe can be found) ;)
4. Selection Option 1 by pressing “1″ on the keyboard and pressing enter.
Note: This will wipe out any previous versions of WoW you have in your database.
6. After finished with all of the above process, all you have to do now is just open the realmlist.wtf file in your World of Warcraft installation directory (the default location can be found at C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft) using Notepad, Wordpad, or your favorite text editor and then …
Replace :
set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
With :
set realmlist 127.0.0.1
and then save it and close realmlist.wtf File.
7. Now you just need to run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe from your mangos directory and then the next step would be creating your own username with your desired password for your own WoW server account as shown on below image followed by typing setgm to give yourself a GM level account
By the way, if you can’t see what you should type inside the mangosd window from the above image, actually you just need to type :
create username password
to create the account
setgm username 1-3
to give yourself GM Access at certain level (3 is the highest level and should only be used on your account while normal player is 0)
8. Finally if you have Burning Crusade client installed and want to be able to create Burning Crusade specific character, all you have to do is just type :
setbc username 1
to enable burning crusade expansion for your account :)
Optional :
If you want to change the server name into something else, you can use the reaper-x-mangos.bat to adjust it :)
Upgrading from 5045 Release:
1. Re-extract vmaps, maps and dbc because this version no longer supports the old World of Warcraft 2.3.2 installation and only supports the new 2.3.3
2. Go into your WoW Reaper Server Directory, and open reaper-eazy-mangos. Next I recommend opening the batch file and backing up your character data. This is optional though.
3. Open the Folder called “Upgrade” and run reaper-x-upgrade.bat.
4. Next type in the directory to the Bin Folder where your mysql.exe and mysqldump.exe files are located.
5. Then make sure that you are upgrading from the latest previous version or else you WILL corrupt your database and possibly lose your character data.

First off make sure that you have your MySQL running before doing anything.
You need to go back into the reaper folder (C:\Reaper-X-Easy-MaNGOS\reaper-eazy-mangos)
And run the batch file called reaper-x-mangos, there is an option there to setup your LAN or IP for use, This new batch file does correctly setup your DB to the IP you enter in this batch file. Once you’ve done that, if you haven’t gone back in to edit the config files in your reaper folder mentioned above, you need to do that, there is a section in there with this.

# Important: DataDir needs to be quoted, as it is a string which may

This is an example of waht it may look like. You need to change this to the path where you put your data folder with the maps, vmaps, and dbc’s.

Above, you need to change the MANGO;MANGOS to your root DB name, likey it’s just root, and YOUR batabase (DB) password (you should know this)
YOU DO NOT CHANGE THE IP’S here or in the realmd file, ONLY THROUGH THAT BATCH FILE, i mentioned above. (that file does it for you)
Next open scriptdev2.conf and realmd.conf and edit the info for them to connect to your database as well.

just got a few for ya while your online… i just installed windows server 2003 on a computer at my house and have been trying to get the WOW server to run on it… it runs good except i can’t seem to get anyone from other computers connected to it. and i’m trying to figure out how to use the servers website functions to make an account setup page… any advice? i really like having the server but not sure how to work it bc i’ve tried port forwarding on my router but that doesn’t work because it disables half the connectivity of the server for some reason.

Second.. My server is running Reaper Mangos Mod 4703 and I wanted to upgrade to this release. Do I have to do all the upgrade in between or can I just back up my characters, clean install with this version and import my characters?

Were do i get the vmaps and maps from?
u extract them using the tools in the folder called “tools” copy em to ur game folder and run “extract-map.bat” and “makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat”, when done extracting u copy the folders maps and vmaps into your \Reaper-X-Easy-MaNGOS\data folder and point to this folder when u run the server setup :)
Thanks loved 2.3.2 was so easy to run not slept for several days and i still have an active sub with wow :/ but dont log on :) prefer playing this way ;).

Having an issue that I can’t figure out, There is no aggro on anything in game. Nothing can be killed because when you attack them only your one attack counts, then you lose them, they act like nothing happened and go back to full health, much like evading, please help me. I have no clue on this one.
The only things I scripted in were in the reaper-x folder, and I noticed that the script for vedors didn’t work, you couldn’t talk to them until I loaded the script from the last patch.
how do I get the AH bot?

my guild and i were trying to use the 5054 release to practice for our premade bg’s and to take a peak at hyjal since we arent all attuned for it on the official. the bg functions weren’t correctly functioning for us and the hyjal mobs weren’t doing what they usually do on the official servers, along with other mobs. our priest actually cleared an instance by herself since all the mobs just disappeared whenever they were affected by her fear. sooo is it just us or is this expected of an emulated server?? also, i’d have to say it brings back memories seeing the lieutenants and such back in av :). can you help us any??? *poke poke*
oh, sorry for the double post. I now have downloaded and fully re-installed everything. that includes MySQL up till this new revision. I am getting the same problem as before, I can log in nicley localy, but once I ask my friends to log in from other machines, it get’s stuck at this message again, after they chose the realm ‘loging into game server’. I’m at the and with my ideas to fix this problem. Could some one please help me in finding out how to solve this problem? thank you so much, and you are doing a great job Oatman, and reaper-x as well lol.

you used your actual machine’s ip and not localhost aka 127.0.0.1 right :3? google for guides on how to set your server up as a LAN.
Turning GM off allows them to attack, that’s very off, the last revision I didnt’ notice that, would that be something in the mangos config file I changed? like GM always on?

go into your db and change in the real database
127.0.0.1 to your real ipnumber save it relog and problem solved … great job guys another very happy user here

yes i know, someones already asked something similar to this but do i have to upgrade from reaper amgnso 5005, to the glitched version, to this one? and if i do, do i have do extract all the vmaps maps and DBC files on version 5045?

At the moment, almost all the raids / instances arent working exactly like the normal servers. That has to do mainly with the UDB. Because of all the triggers and events that go on in the instances, not all of them have been implemented yet. But as updates to UDB database move on…they do seem to get more and more involved in the instances. You can atleast get a basic understanding what you are getting yourselves into on the normal server ^^
I really appreciate what you are doing, but you are running an unnecessary risk by putting everything needed to run a private WoW server in one easy to download and set-up package. It gives Blizzard/Vivendi one target to focus on. The reason UDB, MaNGOS, and ScriptDev2 run separate programs on separate sites is that since none of them offer the “complete” package, none of them can be held accountable or liable for whatever copyright violation or infringement suit Blizz might try to pursue. Just food for thought. Best of luck.
Lan People-
If Lan worked for you before and you are having problems connecting with the new update, just an idea. The realmlist file in your WoW folder resets with the WoW new patch so make sure and change it to your lan ip again.
If Lan has not worked for you ever- use tutorials-if it still doesn’t work read them again- I found that when I have trouble its because I skipped steps

#NathanRedd those merchants have an error in thier coding… they are set as spirit healers.. if you use Quice http://quice.indomit.ru/ you can go in and edit this value and make them vendors again.. it’s a small flaw with an easy fix.

Just wondering but, Why is the Programmer’s island teleport still in there while the area was removed?
Hi Oatman. I have a slight problem with the mangos config editor. On the pictures you have it says at number 5: Mangos Config Editor (You’ll need to run this at least once). In my window it says: Mangos Config Editor - MaNGOS.conf/Realmd.conf/ScriptDev2.conf, and when i push 5 and enter it says: this is not an intern command, extern command, program or commandfile.
What should i do?

You need to go into your mangosd.conf, realmd.conf, and scriptdev.conf then edit each of them.
You need to tell it where to connect to the data dir.

You do not have to redo the DBC and stuff all you have to do is use the upgrade tool to update you database. Then once you get to this version then you have to get the new dbc’s and stuff and replace mangosd.exe and stuff like that.

Not to be mean but if you actually take the time to read the post fully then you would know what to do. Anyhow, since you must be new I’ll tell you anyway. You need to open mangosd.conf, realmd.conf, and scriptdev2.conf using notepad. Then you need to edit them. To connect to your database and to connect to your data folder with your extracted DBC’s, Maps, and Vmaps.

Honestly, I have never been able to do that and I have tried dozens of times. The only person I am aware of that can do that is Reaper.

1. Where do I put the DBC, vmaps and maps? I can’t seem to figure that out.
2. I deleted all of my old mangos databases in sqlyog because I thought I needed to do that to reinstall, but now when I run the config to fresh install, it asks where the databases are…
Hey Oatman, i’ve been following ur releases for some time, i’ve got some people playing on my server (got it working publicly) and we record bugs that come up, do you have an email that i can email you the txt file that i copy down all the bugs to? it just seems more convenient than this comment board. :)

Removed because this post lies, this person said the file contained a virus probaly because he can’t get it to work. I just scanned it with AVG and its clean.

it looks like u didnt import the database info to your SQLyog databases, so there is nothing for it to use. but im not 100% sure

you put your vmaps maps and DBC folder inside your mangos folder (called reaper-x-easy-MaNGOS or something like that)
and just remake the databases and reimport everything

Hey i have an issue, everything is running fine, and no problems setting up for lan and internet connect.
I was running 5005 version fine, and fresh installed 5085, but now after mangosd runs, everthing loads perfect, but at the end of server loading, mangosd.exe stops responding.
any ideas?
By the way thats im runing it on vista ultimate with the .exe’s ownership in my os username.
Ok i just reinstalled it and its working with a default config, but when a character initiates an attack on a creature, there is a quick red circle that surronds them then go’s away.
And the player has to be in that circle range to attack. Is there anyway to expand that range to initiate attack farher away?
And how can i get the auction house working?
I am getting an Error saying that 127.0.0.1 is not connectable
Both mangos.exe and realmd.exe started without error, however when I connect it just shows “Logging into game server” for about 1/2 seconds then goes back to the realm list.
Any suggestions?
First of all, thanks a lot Oatman and Reaper for these releases.
Anyway, i noticed something with this new release that im (almost) sure wasn’t in the last one: Those Imp Minions around Warlock Trainers keep aggroing players, which makes it almost impossible for new warlocks to train their skills.
I don’t know if its a problem with the Imps only, some mistake i made with the installation, or maybe a bigger issue (with tons of npcs attacking player at later stages).
Any fixes?

To fix this problem, open your mangosd.conf file with any prefered text editor (notpad is fine :))
look for a setting like this(this is a direct take out from my file, replace the file path with the one that applyes to the location of your dbs, maps, and vmaps folder)

I have been fighting with taht problem for hours until I found out what the problems is. This might not apply to you but first things first. Is it yourself getting this error, or someone logging in from a differen’t machine? I have found out that in my case it was a problem with someone logging in from the outside (a friend at home). If you are behind a router make sure the ports 8085 and the port 3724 are forwarded. Also make sure that your friend log in with the WAN ip and that your server realm is also set up with a WAN ip. After that it should work, if you have more questions feel free to contact me under this email address (I found myself clogging up this post section with this problem far to much lol:P)

I don’t know if this is a normal error, but I have noticed the second I turn on the auction bot to this setting:

the mangosd.exe loads everything, if even displays all the aucitons it loaded, but then the program freezes and gives me the send error report to windows message? Is this supposed to happen? or did I set something up worng? Thank’s for the help btw, you are doing an exelent job :)

For some reason I don’t think skills are working. I could put my char to level 200 and I still get hit for like 180 damage by level 65 Ironforge guards. I used .maxskill to max them but it makes no difference. Also, I still hit mobs for barely anything - at this level with the gear i’m wearing I should be hitting for much more.
Any clues?

Thanks to all on this release. I went to the registration page to get on that server and it’s not available to the public yet, you can bet I’ll be on there when it is and helping as much as I can. I have a few questions that I’d love to hear answered, I hope we have a chat channel for only people that got this to work publicly (no offense to those that haven’t yet) but it would be nice to hear questions on the “next level” of things that can be done with DB’s and how to start fixing bugs! I’ll let you know who I am ingame as soon as i get in!, hehe.

Not to be mean but if you want to use this then you need to read. I would not know the knowledge I do on how to code these without reading. To get a server working just read the full post it will talk about that.
Anyhow, once you read it, hope everything works out with your server. :)
