    Hi Guys, did some tweaking and got this to work on the latest WOW client 2.3.3

    1) Change the 3 .conf files as follows:-
    old ConfVersion=2007103101
    new ConfVersion=2008103101

    2) In the realmlist.wtf, you need to add/change the patchlist address to a dead address.

    I set mine to…
    set patchlist tempeu.version.worldofwarcraft.com

    I was then able to connect and play without any obvious problems.

    Hope this helps

  20. Brandon said Jan 24, 2008 at 3:50 am

    Josh make sure that you are using the correct version of WoW it should be 2.3.2 and not 2.3.0 or 2.3.3

    Also I am sure the config is correct
    “127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;realmd”
    “127.0.0.1;3306;root;password;realmd”

  21. Brodie said Jan 24, 2008 at 3:48 am

    @Josh

    Did you update your client yesterday like the rest of the world to 2.3.3?

    If so the current version of Reaper-X Mangos 5054 isn’t supported with 2.3.3

    You’ll need to either roll back your client to 2.3.2 or wait until Reaper releases the next revision which should be as soon as Mangos supports 2.3.3 as well right Reaper (wink wink)

  22. Josh said Jan 24, 2008 at 3:29 am

    your answer is corret…. mostly….jut doing port forwarding isn’t always going to fix the proble with a public server that local clients works fine but non-locl clients can not…this isn’t always a problem with port forwarding….but make sure you have the 2 ports forwarded and then you have to edit a line in the mangos DB…it is the realmlist table and you need to put the IP the your router gets from your ISP..that is your public IP it probably has your private or you local IP in it if you are having this problem…to edit this table Navicat works good. I looked long and hard for this answer and got really tired of people that I did not have my ports right…but it all turned out to be a configuration issue in mangos.

    ERROR 1049 (42000): Unknown database ‘c:\wow\dat’
    ERROR 1049 (42000): Unknown database ‘c:\wow\dat’

    Try starting there…..

    Are you sure c:\wow\dat is the correct path? Maybe it should be c:\wow\data. Double check anywhere you’ve had to enter a path variable.

    Also error 1049 in MySQL is a bad database.
    Somewhere in there for some reason the batch file believes your database name is c:\wow\dat

    If you can’t figure it out you could try dropping the already created databases, delete all the install files except the dbc, vmap, and map dirs, re-extract the packaged file you downloaded from Reaper-x and try re-installing from scratch.

  25. Brodie said Jan 24, 2008 at 2:52 am

    @Brandon

    Check realmd.conf. Specifically these lines should be as follows:

    LoginDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;realmd”

    RealmServerPort = 3724

    Check mangosd.conf. Specifically these lines should be as follows:

    LoginDatabaseInfo =”127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;realmd”
    WorldDatabaseInfo = “127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;mangos”
    CharacterDatabaseInfo =”127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;characters”

    Actually in the realmd database make sure in the REALMLIST table you’ve got your EXTERNAL IP or DNS Name for the ADDRESS.

    Something like this:

    Database = realmd
    Table = realmlist
    id = 1 <— Your Realm ID Number
    name = Reaper-X <— The Name of Your Realm
    address = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <— Your external IP/DNS Name
    port = 8085
    icon = 1
    color = 0
    timezone = 1
    allowedSecurityLevel = 0
    population = 0

    I believe it is a problem with a config file.. i know my ISP does not block the ports.. i ran the upgrade batch and after i copied the new server and realm .exe files and copying the config files it stopped working.. Everything is working perfectly fine on lan.. I tried disabling my firewall, reverified that my ports were redirected, and continued to try and it still is not working. if you know a fix to this issue let me know.

  28. Brodie said Jan 23, 2008 at 10:37 pm

    @Brandon

    I don’t know why. In the information I’ve read some ISP’s block 3274 incoming packets (for people who run private servers). Your ISP may have decided to do this.

    I was pulling my hair out getting it to work and I was 100% correct on every setting suggested. The second I changed the port number BOOM, everything worked.

    Try it and see. It could still be something else but process of elimination.

    As long as your sure since you’ve upgraded to 5054 that you have the right settings in all the .conf files and in the database. If you used the reaper-x-upgrade.bat file the database should not have changed.

    The only changes would be in the .conf files. If you backed up your 5005 directory and .conf files (as I do) try copying them back into your working directory and checking them against the new .conf files.

    Again, If you had it working before you should be fine unless:

    A) You DIDN’T use the reaper-x-upgrade.bat
    B) Your .conf files have changed in some way
    C) Your 3274 port is now being blocked for some reason.

    Hope this helps.

  29. Brandon said Jan 23, 2008 at 10:08 pm

    So you are saying just to change the port? Why would this be an issue.. It should work with default port.. Ill try it a little later to see if it helps.. I am able to connect via LAN but from another WAN connection.
    -B

  30. Brodie said Jan 23, 2008 at 9:02 pm

    @Brandon

    If you’ve tried everything already posted (realmlist.wtf is correct, IP in realmd database, etc) I was having issues as well. With a little reading I noticed that people in the UK had issues (I’m in Canada however) with the default port of 3274. I could log in but I couldn’t connect. Just sat there saying ‘Connecting to Game Server’ and then nothing. In the end once I changed my port to 7000 and opened that up on the firewall everything was great. I have 5054 and I have a few friends that connect no problem.

    Just make sure in their realmlist.wtf after they enter your ip they put :7000 so

    set realmlist 111.222.333.444:7000
    set patchlist 111.222.333.444:7000

    or your DNS name…. you get the picture.

  31. Brandon said Jan 23, 2008 at 8:51 pm

    Yeah hopefully its 2.3.3 compatible.. Like I’ve said before I have been using Mangos for a very long time now.. Im still so confused whats going on.. When I connect from a friend computer (at his house) I get stuck at the connecting screen.. So I experimented and closed realmd (to see if it would go straight to unable to connect and it didnt) there is obviously a problem with remote connections after upgrading to the new release.. I cant wait on till this is fixed. Everything was working perfect… ::cries:: I know someone will figure this out

    @Riotz, there will be another release soon, this one has a few bugs, but should all be sorted on the next release, hopefully will be compatible with 2.3.3 :)

  33. Riotz said Jan 23, 2008 at 6:29 pm

    I am confused. Is 5054 the fixed version or is there another one coming that IS the fix to all the problems. I am on 5005 now and I have all sorts of problems. Should I go 5045 or wait for the next release?

    There will be a new release soon with db completely fixed and will be 2.3.3 ready I assume.

    Also open your realmd file in something like SQL or Navicat ( Navicat is what I used and there were no problems ).

    So just need to watch this space for next updates:)

    Hope I have helped.

    Ok.. ive used mangos for yearr.. Everything was working amazing until I setup 5054.. Everything is correct with port fowarding and all config for realmd and mangos are correct.. I can connect LAN but not over WAN connection (outside) port forwarding is enabled.. my host file is fine.. I just need a fix for this issue and it looks like 2.3.3 is out.. I really enjoy these releases (all but 5054) I really need to setup another server as a test server since i dont want to loose any data.

    go to SQLyog and under realmlist click the message tab and then where it says {realm name} go to the next box and in the next box it defaults to 127.0.0.1
    change that number in that box to your IP

    Change the patch pointer in your realmlist.wtf file. Point it to a DNS that will not resolve.

    set patchlist = TEMPus.version.worldofwarcraft.com

    Then when you want to update, change it back.

  48. informative said Jan 23, 2008 at 7:49 am

    #will: Hey man every day above ground is a good one!

    Seriously I bet there are so many questions now mostly because so many people were having trouble getting internet and LAN play working because of the configuration options that were coded in Conf files and not prompted to change them so they leave the wrong settings and can’t find where to change it.

    As for updates breaking stuff I will help if I can. First thing I learned in the two weeks I have played with this software is the MySQL database seems to be OK with taking the mysql\data folder and just make a copy of that to make really sure you have your characters and realmd database folders copied somewhere safe so it wont get wiped out accidentally. I like to ZIP them to another drive so I KNOW I can’t overwrite them.

    It was perhaps unfortunate that there is a data folder which holds DBC and map folders typically and a data folder MySQL uses to hold actual data tables – which are not usualyl the same data folder so I am talking about the MySQL\Data folder.

    Once I had those safe I just did a fresh install. Unless the Characters database structure and layout changes that’s usually going to be a good way to go. I also like to take my working CONF files and copy those. Unless these change formats those old copies will give you clues to what was working before and if there are no significant structure changes in those files you may even be able to use the old ones still.

    Then I just stopped the MySQL service and renamed the data folder in some cases uninstalled reboot adn reinstalled MySQL because those drivers act up weird sometimes. Did fresh install of 5054 and after that again I right click MyComputer and go to Services (or manage and drill down to services) and turn off MySql service (so it releases the data folder files) and restore a copy from zip of my characters and realmd folders to the data folder. Turn services back on and voila new stuff shows up in the MySql where it is supposed to be only thing chaneged was my Mangosd.exe executables and the Mangos folder.

    Not sure if this process worked for 5005 to 5054 or not. Oatman would have to say if there were changes to characters structure or realmd structures. When structures change you a forced to do upgrade (conversion) to retain old data base login and character info.

    Hope I didn’t confuse things any worse than they already were for anyone. Zip or Rar those Characters and Realmd folders everything else is mostly recoverable or can be replaced with some small effort.

  50. informative said Jan 23, 2008 at 7:27 am

    #FFS: Get it working as a LAN first. If you can connect locally from other machines in your house AND connect locally to yourself THEN you are ready to try a Hamachi network game. Hamachi is exactly exactly like a LAN game except the IP’s change. Thats it! Hamachi lets someone outside your LAN bahave exactly as if they were ON your LAN.

    Only thing changes is the IP’s in the config files. So… anyplace you had your IP like 127.0.0.1 should remain 127.0.0.1. Anyplace you had your IPCONFIG local IP looks something like 192.168.1.101 will change to the Hamachi IP address for your machine instead. Thats it! The address the guest will need to use in his realmlist.wtf file will also be this same YOUR HAMACHI IP Address.

    Hope it helps.
