ATTENTION! There is a new release so this is now outdated and unsupported!
Well its finally here! The release that answers everyones questions and fixes everyones bugs! It took me about 8 hours of consistent coding and I believe that it is perfect. The only problem and thing I could not do was get the database updated. Besides that we have updated many things and added many new things as well.
Here is the list of newly added items:

Well it appears I have noticed some stuff that paused my uploading but I got it back up and its working fine. Just make sure you .NET FrameWork 3.5

Woot! i just started to set up my server tonight, and i used your guide (amazing btw, best ive EVER seen!) in Combination with the Mangos website guides, and i’m now all set up, minus public, which im trying to fix-i have ports forwarded, and the Ip’s added everywhere but STILL wont connect, gonna run the new batch file when its uploaded,- Finally, anyone know any good sites to get editors? Like, how to make your own items, quests, mobs, stuff like that?

There may be better editors out there but it works for me. Edits items, quests, mobs, game events too some extent, and has limited character editing though even they do not recommend using that feature yet. Only thing it’s missing is spell editing in my opinion.

Anyone else having the problem where mangosd.exe is looking for the data directory but can’t find the /maps /vmaps /dbc directories? (my guess is because it’s using the wrong ‘/’s It needs to use ‘\’)?
using /maps /vmaps /dbc directories or using \maps \vmaps \dbc directories is THE SAME… is not a problem!!

Make sure the folders are in your Mangos folder. Open up your mangosd.conf file. Go down to “#Data Directory Setting”. Below that you’ll see:
DataDir = “@prefix@\Reaper\data”
go ahead and delete everything within the quotes so that it reads:
DataDir = “”
Should work. That’s how I did it anyway.

Read what I said up top. Take everything out of the data folder and put it in your main ManGOS folder. Then go into the mangosd.conf file (open with notepad) and change:
DataDir = “@prefix@\Reaper\data”
to
DataDir = “”
same message keeps coming up. the only thing in the data folder is dbc folder and i move it to mangos folder and then change mangosd.conf and still the same message

I cant figure out how to get the SDB.Im running the 5054, but i dont understand what it means by “the_filename_used_on_sql_dump_from_e_turray.sql”. What do i tpe in cmd to get the SDB, thank you all :)

First: Thanks for the good work, keep it up.
I have a small problem though which i cant seem to solve myself.
After installation, i can run the mangosd.exe and realmd.exe, creating a user goes fine, logging in as well (in the realmd.exe i see the succesfully authenticated) but when i try to login to the server it pops me back to the realm selection list. If i select MaNGOS there, it sais logging in to game server and pops back to the realm selection list again.
Im fairly new with this, just started with 4875 and im sure it’s something stupid and small i have overlooked. But i cant find it.
Any help would be appricated.

Ok… The “Mangos Config Editor” option in the batch file doesn’t work, gives an error about “this” not being a command, location, etc…
Too get the AHbot working, create a new account, set it as a gm too make it easier and bc enable it. In that account create a character. log in useing that account and character. Use the gm command; pinfo (character name you just created) too lookup the account and char id of this character. Take a note of these and edit the mangosd.conf file adding in these 2 numbers where it has this line:
# Auction House Bot character data
AuctionHouseBot.Account = 0
AuctionHouseBot.GUID = 0
This will activate your ahbot if the batch file doesn’t do it for you.
The GM island vendors work and the AHbot works once the config file is setup. :)
This version fixes some bug but some other new bugs pops up. I’ve found out that you don’t get talent points when you level up by default and fear causes the mob to disappear. That’s what I’ve found so far.
I’ve used the upgrade feature and tested the fresh install. I’ll make more reports of bugs when I could find more. hehe
for those having problems when they use the .learn all_crafts command, there is an easy fix. Just do .unlearn 42296. This will remove the 1 bugged recipe that slipped into this release somehow.
@mkl1976 and those having similar problem.
Check your mangos.conf file and look for this line;
# Talent Point rates
# Default: 1
Rate.Talent = 1
If Rate.Talent says it = 0 then you will get no talents so adjust it too 1.
as for the creatures disipearing, that sounds like a database bug imo…
Tested it as well, yes the creatures disappearing when feared is a confirmed bug.
wait how will i take all the data from the one from the first realease of this and put it into this new one?
Are you leveling your character up, equipping it with items and stats, then lowering its level back down?
The .modify command is not permanent when it comes to player stats or size.
cuz i have players on my server and they would be greatly disappointed if it got messed up =\

Hey guys I have a small Q. If I already have mangos setup, but I want to delete my old DB and put this one instead? (Do a fresh install but not uninstalling MySQL).
yes just go into your reaper-easy-mangos dos files its in the reaper-x easy mangos folder and type in ur SQL bin path and type 1 or w/e option it says fresh install and it might take a while but you will have new DB

Jakarth, I’ve tested leveling up with a fresh character with a fresh installation with the settings you gave. I still don’t get talents at level 10+.
Maybe I should complete wipe of the database before I do fresh install?

Yeah, guys question, i can get on through my laptop which is connected to my router, but my friend cannot connect, ive done everything, and i have my LAN ip and Public IP in my realmd realmlist file. If anyone could help me out, it’d be appreciated! i even have my DNS thing, but how do i knopw if the address works or not?

Backup your characters and try a fresh install. You should be able too add your characters back in with no issues afterwords. If it still has that problem, let me know. I’ll try too think of anything else that might cause this problem.

Did you update your hosts file in your:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
directory? You will need too add a line in there that has the ip that people connect too your computer at and where they are connecting too… example, like this:
192.168.1.1 IP.that.people.connect_to
the first one is your computers network ip, it will be as it is shown if you connect strait too the internet, but the last number will be different if you go through a router. 192.168.1.100 for example. The second one is the IP that others connect too your computer from. This will be either your Internet IP or if your using a dns service the IP you created.

if you want users to connect to your server from online (will also work local) set your realm
to accept connections from your public IP. you can get this ip from http://www.whatismyip.com
1,(your realm name),(your public IP),8085,4,0,1,0, 0.02
this is how my realm is set up and ppl can connect from online or local network… i use navicat to set up the realm not sure if you want to use cmd or not but navicat is simple just put the data in and it’s set up. hope this helps

#ray instead of having your realm name as the default “mangos” you can rename it to whatever you like… this is what shows on your realm list. so you can name it “uber realm” lol . the second line in the synax 1,(your realm name),(your public IP),8085,4,0,1,0, 0.02. can be changed to anything without messing with ur db. navicat can be downloaded from http://www.navicat.com/download.html to change your realm name and ip just connect to your db “using your mysql login and pwd through navicat” go to realmd section and select realm from the submenu on the right. this will show you your realm info. just ask if you need any more info =)

hey, this is a lot nicer than 5005 (the first one i tried), but there’s still a bug from it that i’ve noticed. Skinning seems to work the first time, but if you exit and try again, it increases your skill, but doesn’t give you anything. This sometimes happens with herbalism too but not as often.
I’ve upped the number of talents to 4, since there are only a few people playing and this way we can get enough things, not sure if that would make a difference though.

Nevermind, I’ve found a fix for it. I’ve been using a hidden talent found in the database and it bugs the talent system. Thanks anyway
#ray go into your router setup and find where it sets port forwarding. i have a linksys router so it’s under Applications
& Gaming tab and then select (if not automatically goto) Port Range Forward and set the application to realmd start port 3724 end port 8085 and set it to your realm’s ip (not the one from internet the one you get from cmd : ipconfig) they should be able to connect afterwards.

I’m getting an issue when I use
Mangosd.exe, and realmd.exe
It tells me it cannot bind to either of the ports. Could someone tell me how to enable ports? Or find out what is clogging both of them.
(Even If I’m trying to connect to myself would I have to enable the ports ont he main computers settings?)

Jumob, I’m assuming you’re using a router right?
What you need to do is find a guide for the specific router you’re using (either the manual, or google) and open the specific ports up.

That’s probably a database problem. Hopefully one day all the quests will work right, but as of now the database creators do their best. Generally, many quests in the expansion are bugged, and brand new quests (such as those new in Dustwallow Marsh in 2.3) have to be put in a future revision.
Okay, my question:
Does anyone know how to apply character data from a former revision? I backed up my old char data and tried to use option 4 in the installer to bring it all back, but I can’t seem to figure it out. Any help is much appreciated.

I updated with the 5054 and everything seems to be okay, with the following exception. I get this error on mangos loadup with scripts, is this normal or how to i get it to load properly?

By the way, y’all are doing a hell of a job. I just started my server a few days ago and I have little/no programming knowledge, and minus a few hangups at first, your directions are very spot on!!! Good job to all involved!!

Biggest problem I run into is the people from outside hitting the server get to the realm screen and then can’t get to the character screen. Has anyone solved this problem and have a good analysis of what the blockage is? I had it working once by putting the machine directly on the modem not through a router and turning off the machines firewall but thats not a viable solution.

I just finished updating 5005 with 5054 and it updated fine, BUT there are still issues. Mailboxes are still missing and so are the anvils and forges. Is anyone else missing these items as well?

those are for GM vendors on GM island to show which is working fine but Mangos program it self also shows newer vendors added to the game which ID are from 50001-500078 i bleave im trying to activate one for the main city ie SW or org

For some reason Mobs dont aggro to me and I can attack them but they don’t die … they are yellow to me.
Got 5054 up and running. My problem is that me and the map on my mini map do not load up. Any ideas on how to fix?

I have just updated my server with 5054 and all went extremely well, but still unable to get people to connect from external sources.
I have added the correct port forwarding, have a dns entry pointing to my external ip. Added the entries into the hosts file for external and internal ip’s but still just bounces people back to the realm selection screen. I was unable to fix this in 5005 and was hoping 5054 might be different. Also running SQL 5.1 community in case you wanted to know.
Any help appreciated.

I’ve forwarded just those 2 ports as well. You getting the same problem I am?
@Giff: I know suggestions coming from someone who still can’t get it to work either may seem curious (but I did have it working at one point by taking the router out of the chain entirely which I considered a non-solution). Oddly turning off the router firewall entirely doesn’t fix it either which makes me think it’s not port forwarding.
One thing I suspected and may yet be true is on the root password in the “MySQL Server Instance Config Wizard” I forgot to check off the allow remote access to the Root checkbox under where you type in the root password. That may have caused part of the problem trying a full reinstall with that selected this time.

I have tried pretty much all you suggested except removing the router completely. Not really an option for me.

this is great, got everything working..now i have one question…how can i get to program/designer island?

It’s full of vendors now. I’m trying to debug the few missing items and find out what they are or replace them missing items with stubs of some sort to prevent the invalid item on vendor errors.
Maybe I missed something or perhaps doing the clean install instead of an upgrade will sometimes leave you missing a few tiny pieces. Not sure yet.
Gonna come back to the outside router can;t get from realm to chr screen issue after I get it running 100% cleanly.

cause everytime i .addspw a vendor its just not leting me open the vendor up to see whats in it
the vendors #’s 50001-500078 if you are having problems with these vendors (not the ones in the batch for GM island) they are labled as spirit healers which is why you only get a talk icon on them. just a note
on a side note you can change this value using Quice (link given above from Jakalth) it’s really useful and easy to use in my opinion. btw thanks for the link it helped. easy fix.

I’m having problems playing my own server on the same computer. I keep getting 2k+++++ latency while playing. At the same time my friend halfway across the country is getting upwards of around 100ms. Any answers?
I’ve tried connecting using 127.0.0.1 , my Lan ip and my public ip i get the same extremely high latency a solution would greatly be appreciated =)
#rocko go into creature tab and lookup “vendor” when you go in to edit the creature look for the “npc flag” click on the … next to that field and it will give you a list… select vendor from the list, then upload the script. oh you will have to restart your server for the changes to take.
Do you have any internet related programs running? For example emule bitlord… downloading something? youtube? if so turn em off..
and i just created a lot of weapons, but how do i put the in the game.. i got the sql file and the code but how do i put it in the game so i can use em?
Ok i did everything right i ran all the scripts and mangosd.exe and realmd.exe are running without error. I used the Mangos bat to configure my server for LAN use and it wont let me connect on other computers! Please I need some help!! Anone?
no nothing except realmd, and mangosd. i checked all the processes while i was running wow to make sure there wasnt anything running that took up any bandwidth …no luck with that either = /

If you’re using SQLyog or any other program to connect to MySQL open it up, then go press the “+” next to “realmd” to open up the list. Click on “realmlist” and make sure you select the “Table Data” tab. The first line you’ll see your server name (Default MaNGOS) then the address. Since you want other people to connect to your server, make sure you got your WAN IP there or your no-ip address in there.
Once thats done save and close it, then go to: “C:\Windows\System 32\drivers\etc” and open up your hosts file with notepad. You should already see:
localhost 127.0.0.1
and some other IP’s depending on what your system sets. At the bottom add:
127.0.0.1 “Your WAN IP here”
without the quotes. Save and close and have them try to connect again.

I just finished updating 5005 with 5054 and it updated fine, BUT there are still issues. Mailboxes are still missing and so are the anvils and forges. Also some of the quest items(triggers and such) are missing as well. Is anyone else missing these items as well?
#Rocko: I did a #1 fresh db load and then simply applied the step #7 to add apply the vendor SQL.

Just logged in really quick and Mailboxes are there for me, same with forges, etc.
And you’d have to be specific with which quests so I can check it out.
whats the process in upgrading from 5005 to 5054? How do you import the updates sql tables?
managed to get external connections going by adding my external IP to the realmlist table in the realmd database as explained here
