Reaper Mangos 4875 – Easy WoW Private Server for WoW 2.3.0

Another Mangos release again after the last 4703 release (that is released one month ago), and this time the release uses Mangos Core 4875 (Clean Compiled without any custom patches) with Unified Database 331 and of course ScriptDev2 208. But as an important note, this version no longer support the old WoW 2.2.3 and you need to use the new WoW 2.3.0 in order for it to work ;)

And yet another note, since Reaper Mangos Custom version is still not finished yet (i’m really sorry for this), i’ll update this post later when it’s finished but to those who already use the previous Custom version actually you can also upgrade to this version without problem especially if you want to get this release as soon as possible, but you should make sure that :

  1. You’ve created a backup first just in case something goes wrong
  2. The Auction House bot is not going to work (don’t worry even if the configuration options is still in mangosd.conf it’s not going to affect your gameplay)
  3. The Set reputation is not going to work .. but it’s not going to affect your gameplay :)
  4. Finally the most important thing is … you’ll need to point the mangosd.conf and realmd.conf to the correct database used by the Reaper Mangosmod :)

But if you don’t feel like doing all of the above steps, then of course you can just wait for the next Reaper Mangosmod ;)

Flying in azeroth

And finally here are the steps :

Requirements :

1. MySQL Database and the guide on how to install mysql

2. World of Warcraft Client version 2.3.0

3. Mangos Server :

Optional

To those who have WoW 2.3.0 enUS version and want to get the DBC File directly, feel free to download them from below link :)

Extracted DBC File from WoW 2.3.0 enUS version :

OPTIONAL UPDATE :

Now you can get the updated GM Island vendor which is from the previous 4703 to be used properly on this 4875 release ;)

Download GM Island Vendor for 4875

Fresh Installation :

Important Note : Fresh installation will overwrite your database

1. First you’ll need to install MySQL

2. Extracting Maps, DBC and VMaps from your World of Warcraft installation
(You can safely ignore the Patch-2, or any not found xxx-2 message) ;)

3. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside the reaper-eazy-mangos folder, and you’ll see something like below image for an example, and then you just need to write the full path to your mysql installation directory (where mysql.exe and mysqldump.exe can be found) ;)

MySQL installation directory

4. Now you just need to choose option number 1 to install the database as shown below, and when prompted for your mysql root password, don’t forget to write the correct password … :)

Mangos Database Installation

And one more thing, when you see something like in The Matrix movie (well … that’s how people called it) :) , you just need to wait until it finished and don’t interrupt the process

5. After finished with the database installation, now you need to choose option number 4 (required, unless you know how to edit the mangosd.conf manually) to adjust the datadir and adjust the exp rate, and drop rate (although the most important thing is your datadir path

Editing Mangosd.conf

6. After finished with all of the above process, all you have to do now is just open the realmlist.wtf file in your World of Warcraft installation directory (the default location can be found at C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft) using Notepad, Wordpad, or your favorite text editor and then …

Replace :

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

With :

set realmlist 127.0.0.1

and then save it and close realmlist.wtf file

7. Now you just need to run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe from your mangos directory and then the next step would be creating your own username with your desired password for your own WoW server account as shown on below image followed by typing setgm to give yourself a GM level account

Creating account in mangos

Btw if you can’t see what you should type inside the mangosd window from the above image, actually you just need to type :

create username password

to create the account

setgm username (1–3)
for example setgm myusername 3

to give yourself GM Access at certain level (3 is the highest level and should only be used on your account while normal player is 0)

8. Finally if you have Burning Crusade client installed and want to be able to create Burning Crusade specific character, all you have to do is just type :

setbc username 1

to enable burning crusade expansion for your account :)

Optional :
If you want to change the server name into something else, you can use the reaper-x-mangos.bat to adjust it :)

Upgrading from 4703 Release :

1. Re-extract Vmaps, maps and dbc because this version no longer support the old World of Warcraft 2.2.x installation and only support the new 2.3.0 :)

2. Go into the upgrade folder inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory and run the .bat file there and wait until the process finished

3. And done ;)

Note : You don’t need to worry about your custom stuff being overwritten by the upgrade process, because unlike before this time it’s only upgrade the necessary stuff only and not going to overwrite your custom stuff (but i assume that you’re using high id numbers for your custom stuff)

Finally i’d suggest you to check out the GM Commands List because there are some changes made at the GM Commands especially at the lookup command

Hey, Reaper-X, I have your 4703 release, I get this problem

“ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user ‘mangos’@'localhost’ (using password: YES)”

    How can I remedy this?

  3. Drakill said Dec 29, 2007 at 6:42 am

    #Dresira

Yes I typed in the /bin I did everything exactly like reaper did.
    :(

  4. Mod said Dec 29, 2007 at 3:44 am

    can anyone help me?
i get to the part when i open realmd.exe and mangosd.exe, but it says:
“Could not connecto to MySQL database at 127.0.0.1: Access denied for user ‘mangos’@'localhost’

    Cannot connect to database”

it also says access denied for ‘root’@'localhost’ (using password:YES) on the Apply security settings(after Execute) in the MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard

  5. vstrike said Dec 29, 2007 at 3:42 am

Thanks Reaper for all you do, I’m new to this and your tuts and programs are the only ones I can get to work. I would, however love to import my characters from 4703 to 4875. I back them up from the 4703 server using reaper-x-mangos\ option 2, place the “backup-char.sql” and “backup-realmd.sql” in the 4875 directory and use option 3 to restore them. Even after making sure the same account was created, I still can’t connect with my original character, any advice?

  6. Aaron said Dec 29, 2007 at 12:29 am

hey sorry i havnt been on a few days but the error message is in wow. i can download the patch but when i try to install it about 22% through the patch installastion stops and an error window comes up saying:

The patch “base\signaturefile” could not be applied. (Invalid source file size: expected 2050799, actual 2050690.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (BNUpdate::PTCApply)
To check this installation for problems, click the “Repair” button. The Repair tool can automatically fix many update errors.

is it because mangos is affecting it or is it something else?

    awsome reaper thanks

it came default set to 3.
keep up the good work and thx again

    # Phen

If you don’t mind sending your backup files to me, i’ll be glad to test it by myself and of course upgrade it ;)

    # climbing_fool

actually its 7-zip self extracting archive (to reduce the filesize of course), and of course the executable inside the archive also win32 executable so i dont think it’ll work on mac

p.s i never actually try a mac before other than macbook pro on my uncle’s house :(

    # vibe

ah it seems that you didn’t adjust the datadir first :) .. try choosing option 4 to configure the datadir (and make sure that it is pointing to a directory where dbc, vmaps and maps can be found)

    # Taz

    You can try changing :

    LogLevel = 3

    into

    LogLevel = 1

    in your mangosd.conf :)

  9. Taz said Dec 28, 2007 at 9:15 am

good job reaper i got it up and running first shot with alittle trial and error. I upgraded from 4703 the only question is why does mangos
    keep looping stuff like

azuremyst – auberdine moved to -4039.62******* and so on
it does that then grom`gol base camp and also to a few others, the server works good its just with all the stuff that keeps displaying in the mangos window its hard to type in it eg add accounts and such, any way to slow this down?

  10. Mike said Dec 28, 2007 at 7:45 am

you have both the realmd running and mangosd running at same time, these act like the WoW serverwhile your client will act the same

  11. climbing_fool said Dec 28, 2007 at 7:34 am

Could you please start making the downloadable files in a cross-platform format the .exe files you have mad only work well on windows based machines. Could you work on making your downloads mac friendly.

Hey guys, I have 2 questions, is there a command in Mangosd to view all of your existing accounts? and is the portal in undercity working in this new version? thanks in advance

  13. Phen said Dec 28, 2007 at 4:17 am

I seem to be having the same problem as foblivion, perhaps similar to Schmu’s.

No matter what I try, my existing characters end up without any item in their inventory, the bank, or on their body.

I wish I had a clue how to fix this. As an amateur it looks to me as though the character (or inventory) tables have not been updated properly, somehow. Yet each time I do the process over again brings the same result. :(

  15. DC said Dec 28, 2007 at 2:20 am

Alright Reaper, I got it working thanks to the DBC links, so I thank you greatly. Three things I would like to know how to do though, if you get the time to tell me. I know I’m asking a lot, so if you feel the need to direct me somewhere to learn this stuff myself, or just ignore me completely, I understand. :P

I need to know how to change the speed of mobs and npcs (cuz they move like they’re on crack); how to modify stats besides mana and health; and the most IMPORTANT part… how to make it so flight works in Azeroth. You’ve got that picture up there teasing me but I can’t figure out how to do it myself… And it haunts my dreams. :P

ah actually that item can only be used in tempest keep area only, and if you try to bring it outside the tempest keep it’ll be disappear (this is the default in wow) :)

refer to http://thottbot.com/i30312 (use your browser search function and search for disappear) ;)

in order for it to work anywhere, you’ll need to edit the database manually, and adjust it so it can be used anywhere .. but don’t forget to delete your wow cache directory after you’ve edited your database or it’ll not show you the new description :D

  22. oblivion said Dec 27, 2007 at 9:56 am

    Ohh.. One more thing..

After adding a weapon (eg Infinity Blade – Code: 30312) and when they do step in a big city (Stormwind, Ironforge, etc) or between regions, the weapon disappears.

Do you have any idea of how to solve this?
Or, as a start trying to solve?

    If not. No problem.

I am using macros provisionally for the item that disappears.

    Greetings,

    Oblivion

  23. oblivion said Dec 27, 2007 at 9:43 am

Hello Reaper, follow the guidelines as their tutorial and the installation was flawless.

The .Net Framework was the only thing that hurt the installation.

But after installing everything works perfectly.

In what way can list the code of all items of the game?
I want to print for consultation in the future.

    Thank you and greetings,

    oblivion

actually you can always switch between the official and private server easily so you don’t need to toss away your paid account ;)

as for the mod version, yes you can change the rep but it’s not available in this version :( (i’m still looking on what custom patches i should add to the next mangosmod version)

as for crash, to be honest i never experienced any crash except for one version (not released) that’ll cause crash right after you’re completing the hunter quest (horde) and when trying to go back to orgrimmar. though it has been fixed :)

    # Chris8282

Actually if you are not planning on creating public server (accessible by public), then you can just use 127.0.0.1 as the address (by default) :)

  34. eScenCe said Dec 26, 2007 at 7:17 am

    Hello.

I search for ages for a working 2.3 release.
Now I found yours, still, before ‘tossing away my paid account and getting some pay-free-gameplay I got a couple of questions to ask:

1.Most ManGos Releases suffer on Stealth-Skills & Stealth-Detection on Rogues – did the newest release of Mango any improvement?

2.Does it still broke down most of the quests?

3.How stable is it? Latest Mango Rev. I tried (WoW 2.1.x) crashed every 15-20 minutes in the Outlands.

4.Is there anyway to change reputation in your Mod? (Gaining Mounts of other races f.e.)

    5 – and last one:
My english isn’t that good, ’cause I’m German – If I get your post right up there, you still didn’t released the “Easy”-Client, is that right?

  35. DC said Dec 26, 2007 at 4:38 am

Oh I’m sorry Reaper… THAT’S what you meant by updated… I see the link now. Thanks! :D

  36. DC said Dec 26, 2007 at 4:32 am

No, I had the same problem with the previous version, which didn’t work because it was 2.3, but still found the DBC files on a link you posted for a manual download, for that version. I’m trying your latest version but it still won’t extract, so I was hoping you’d do the same for this version… Also, Merry Christmas. :)

It seems to be a great server build but I cant get past a problem…

I ran through everything and when I got to the ‘Create a GM account’ the Mangosd.exe wouldnt work because I was missing a /Maps file. So, I went in and looked and my /Maps folder is EMPTY. Nothing was extracted at all. To try and attempt to fix this I went to my WoW installation directory and ran the extract-map.bat file and it just flickered on my screen. i tried numerous more times and all it did was create an empty Maps folder…

Can you please help me? I really want to get my server started and this is very annoying (I’m sooo close to being done lol)

    Thanks!

  45. Schmu said Dec 25, 2007 at 10:14 pm

    @foblivion :

I took a pretty long approach, not sure all of this is needed. I thought it’d be a good idea to double check the server with a working client by downgrading it using a method explained by Reaper here (http://www.reaper-x.com/2007/09/29/how-to-revert-to-previous-wow-patch/). If you go that route, you might need to go through the whole data extraction process. Try not to overwrite your 2.3.0 server data in doing so – saves some time. I had 2 folders, one for 2.2.3 data and another for 2.3.0, and 2 different instances of Reaper-Mangos pointing to their respective folder (sharing the same database so couldnt actually run both as once).

You might be able to simply install your previous version of Reaper-Mangos (4703 most likely), backup the char info, freshly install it, restore char info. After configuring the instance, you should be able to create new chars on that server using a 2.2.3 client, but get errors when trying to reuse names of chars you lost.

Then, using your 4875 Reaper-Mangos, do those same steps (backup chars, fresh install, restore chars). Also upgrade your client to 2.3.0 if you downgraded. After configuring the instance, I got my old characters back, including one I had created with my original 4875 install – but not the one I created under 4703.

    I hope this helps

And Reaper: amazing work, keep it up.

    # DC

I just uploaded and updated this post so if you’re using the same wow version you could try using my uploaded dbc file ;)

    # Aaron

Does the error message came from the mangosd window or from the wow game itself ?

    # Ken

    Try using this command

    .lookup tele outland

and you’ll get the teleport name for outland :D

    # Chris8282

usually if you get that error message (i assume that you’ve changed the realmlist.wtf file to point to 127.0.0.1) that means mangos didn’t start properly or there’s something using the same port as mangos

    @Raidex

Well, i did the mangos>setbc USER 1, and it works! I can create characters of both new races and it seems to work just fine. I dont know how to work the teleport command to tele so i cant say the outlands work but since i can create both the two new characters (both tested), i would assume the burning crusade contents work.

Thanks so much for this reaper!
