Reaper Mangos 4875 - Easy WoW Private Server for WoW 2.3.0

Another Mangos release again after the last 4703 release (that is released one month ago), and this time the release uses Mangos Core 4875 (Clean Compiled without any custom patches) with Unified Database 331 and of course ScriptDev2 208. But as an important note, this version no longer support the old WoW 2.2.3 and you need to use the new WoW 2.3.0 in order for it to work ;)
And yet another note, since Reaper Mangos Custom version is still not finished yet (i’m really sorry for this), i’ll update this post later when it’s finished but to those who already use the previous Custom version actually you can also upgrade to this version without problem especially if you want to get this release as soon as possible, but you should make sure that :
- You’ve created a backup first just in case something goes wrong
- The Auction House bot is not going to work (don’t worry even if the configuration options is still in mangosd.conf it’s not going to affect your gameplay)
- The Set reputation is not going to work .. but it’s not going to affect your gameplay :)
- Finally the most important thing is … you’ll need to point the mangosd.conf and realmd.conf to the correct database used by the Reaper Mangosmod :)
But if you don’t feel like doing all of the above steps, then of course you can just wait for the next Reaper Mangosmod ;)
And finally here are the steps :
Requirements :
1. MySQL Database and the guide on how to install mysql
2. World of Warcraft Client version 2.3.0
3. Mangos Server :

To those who have WoW 2.3.0 enUS version and want to get the DBC File directly, feel free to download them from below link :)
Extracted DBC File from WoW 2.3.0 enUS version :
OPTIONAL UPDATE :
Now you can get the updated GM Island vendor which is from the previous 4703 to be used properly on this 4875 release ;)

Fresh Installation :
Important Note : Fresh installation will overwrite your database
1. First you’ll need to install MySQL
2. Extracting Maps, DBC and VMaps from your World of Warcraft installation
(You can safely ignore the Patch-2, or any not found xxx-2 message) ;)
3. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside the reaper-eazy-mangos folder, and you’ll see something like below image for an example, and then you just need to write the full path to your mysql installation directory (where mysql.exe and mysqldump.exe can be found) ;)
4. Now you just need to choose option number 1 to install the database as shown below, and when prompted for your mysql root password, don’t forget to write the correct password … :)
And one more thing, when you see something like in The Matrix movie (well … that’s how people called it) :) , you just need to wait until it finished and don’t interrupt the process
5. After finished with the database installation, now you need to choose option number 4 (required, unless you know how to edit the mangosd.conf manually) to adjust the datadir and adjust the exp rate, and drop rate (although the most important thing is your datadir path
6. After finished with all of the above process, all you have to do now is just open the realmlist.wtf file in your World of Warcraft installation directory (the default location can be found at C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft) using Notepad, Wordpad, or your favorite text editor and then …
Replace :
set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
With :
set realmlist 127.0.0.1
and then save it and close realmlist.wtf file
7. Now you just need to run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe from your mangos directory and then the next step would be creating your own username with your desired password for your own WoW server account as shown on below image followed by typing setgm to give yourself a GM level account
Btw if you can’t see what you should type inside the mangosd window from the above image, actually you just need to type :
create username password
to create the account
setgm username (1–3)
for example setgm myusername 3
to give yourself GM Access at certain level (3 is the highest level and should only be used on your account while normal player is 0)
8. Finally if you have Burning Crusade client installed and want to be able to create Burning Crusade specific character, all you have to do is just type :
setbc username 1
to enable burning crusade expansion for your account :)
Optional :
If you want to change the server name into something else, you can use the reaper-x-mangos.bat to adjust it :)
Upgrading from 4703 Release :
1. Re-extract Vmaps, maps and dbc because this version no longer support the old World of Warcraft 2.2.x installation and only support the new 2.3.0 :)
2. Go into the upgrade folder inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory and run the .bat file there and wait until the process finished
3. And done ;)
Note : You don’t need to worry about your custom stuff being overwritten by the upgrade process, because unlike before this time it’s only upgrade the necessary stuff only and not going to overwrite your custom stuff (but i assume that you’re using high id numbers for your custom stuff)
Finally i’d suggest you to check out the GM Commands List because there are some changes made at the GM Commands especially at the lookup command

hi im getting an error… i get all the way to opening up mangosd and realmd and when i open mangos it says that the map 0004331 thing doesnt exist and i know it exists i have it but i know its not in the right folder and maybe thats why its not reading it, could you help me put it in the right folder?
i got that error then i did the vmap_assembler and vmapextract_v2 and then i get this error
“check existing of map file ‘create/maps/0004331′: not exist! Correct *.map files not found in path ‘creat/maps’ or *.vmap/*vmdir files in ‘create/vmaps’. Please place *.map/*.vmap/*vmdir files in appropriate directories or correct the datadir value in the magosd.conf file.”
I have installed everything properly and everything seems to be running fine but when I try to log into WoW it says unable to connect, am I doing something wrong? realmlist.wtf is set to 127.0.0.1 like it should be, what is going on?
ok cut those last posts i looked it up and i found it out
now im really stuck if you ever get around to reading this ill prolly be asleep but now im stuck at “Incorrect DataDir value in mangosd.conf or ALL required *.dbc files not foiund by path: C:\program files\worldofwarcraft\dbc” and i had trouble with that whole dbc extract en us things they wouldnt work for me, i would double click them, the command promp would show up and go away and nothing was given to me so…
I remember being able to do this last year; What are the files that you need to open to #1 see the item number of specific items and #2 the loot tables of every mob in the game?
I’m in the same boat as tjsix.
I did all the steps correctly and got no errors but when I try to log in I just get the “unable to connect” message.
Ok never mind I figured it out.
I forgot to make sure mangosd.exe and realmd.exe were open and running in the background. I connected right away with those running.

It looks like you need to run the following command on the mangos server:
setbc [username] 1

The easiest way to see what commands are valid is to use SQLyog (free download) open up the Mangos section of the DB and there is an entry call command. Right click that one and export that entry as an HTML file to easily see what commands you can use.

Thank you for making the tutorial. I just started looking at these server files a week ago and have had a lot of fun learning about how all these systems work together. Side not if you get the latest version of Mangos from the svn hey do have a lot more cammands now then they did on this version you have. I’m sorry to say I was trying to get the custom vendors running as well, but when I did it seemed to currumpt my DB (good thing I made a backup :) )

TYVM for the guide, i have one slight problem. I can log in fine nad everything, but the draenei and Blood Elves are greyed out. I cannot select them. Is there something that i missed or left out? Thank you

On step 7 of the install guide there is a forgotton part:
create username password
to create the account
–forgoton part:
setbc username 1
setgm username (1–3)
for example setgm myusername 3
You can double check by looking at the 4703 install guide and go to the same section where you are required to set the account
hey if any1 else is like me and cant do crap then i figured out part of it in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS i found the files locale-enUS.MPQ and patch-enUS.MPQ so i copied those up into just C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data (thats one folder up) and when i run the extract-enUS it find those and extracts from those, only thing is i cant find the patch-enUS-2.MPQ so ima keep lookin any help would be appreciated, sorry for being so annoying and posting so many comments.
once again im so sorry for posting so many times but i hope this helps people i downloaded patch-2.mpq and patch-enUS-2.mpq and made sure a copy was both in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data and C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS and this worked when i used both the extract-enUS.exe and extract-map.exe. i hope these help others.

1.) Got an error in-game telling me i need BC installed. And can’t create the new rces either. When looking in mangosd.conf expansion = 1 - please tell me where im doing wrong.
2.)By mistake i’ve set the exp rate too high, can this be changed?
Can some one point me at the file that has mob loot tables and the one that has every item and it’s #?
I was able to find them with a WoW 1.5 emulated server but I can’t find them in the newer stuff.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hey man do you have world of warcraft the burning crusade expansion pack installed? if not you need that to run and be able to make those races, and for #2 go to your mangosd conf. file which should be next to or near realmd.exe, go into that using notepad and scroll down to about a little below mid way and it says
# XP rates
# Default: 1
#Rate.XP.Kill = x
#Rate.XP.Quest = x
#Rate.XP.Explore = x
if you delete what is there and retype in a number it will change it (1 is regular wow xp 2 is twice the amount, 3 is 3 times the amount,… etc)

As for #1: Yes i have BC installed. Been reading a little of the guide again. Please tell me how to do guide point #4: “Finally the most important thing is … you’ll need to point the mangosd.conf and realmd.conf to the correct database used by the Reaper Mangosmod” - as i haven’t done anything yet, could this caurse this error?
Reaper, once again you make a great thing. I hadnt tried any of the easy ones you had made. I was still compliling it all myself. Your guides are amazing. If there is anything I can help with on your next release let me know. Ill be glad to give something back.

Check celty’s comment above. I also had the BC issue, but didn’t realize there was a setbc command that needs to be used on each account created.
I properly pointed the configuration files to the right databases but im getting the same error as chase now
that .0004331.map error says its missing yet its in the directory.
My Problem was fixed with the Forward Slash Method i found in other forum posts..
Replace the datadir in your config file
It reads something like datadir = C:\Mangos\data\
Change it to C:/mangos/data/

I haven’t emulated a server in almost two years and the method has changed so drastically that the files I was looking for are no where to be found.

yeah i have a similar problem chase, cept i can’t extract anything at all… Reaper posted a link to manually download the dbc files on his last version, and i’m hoping he’ll do the same here… cuz i can’t find it myself Q.Q

Referring back to Chase’s last posts, he says something about the files getting to 96% (Which is what was having a problem with) when running mangosd.exe. I realized before that though, I didn’t have patch 2, so i followed the links Chase gave above and downloaded them, and extracted the DBC files, and copied them to the file folder overwriting the old one. now i get stuck at “You have _outdated_ DBC files. Please extract correct versions from current using client.” Any help?

i think i did everything correct. but there are two problems.
1. at the install part from running reaper-x-mangos.bat i get this error 3 times in a row:
‘mysql’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
and when i go to run mangosd.exe i get the following error:
World Database: 127.0.0.1:3306;mangos;mangos;mangos
Could not connect to MySQL database at 127.0.0.1: Access denied for user ‘mangos’@'localhost’ (using password: YES)
Cannot connect to world database 127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;mangos
How do I get the TBC content to work within mango at the moment i cannot use and of it but it is installed in the wow folder

you have to activate the account you want tbc to work with in the mangos console using:
setbc your_account_name 1
I upgraded from 4703 but might’ve missed something in the sequence: No characters show up in the selection screen but their names are still held. Mangos console gives the following error:
ERROR: Player #2 have broken data in `data` field. Can’t be loaded.
I saw somewhere it could be resolved from manipulating the tables & content directly, but have no idea where to start.

@ iamtheone - are you upgrading or fresh install because i ran ito that last night. I had to do a fresh install inorder to get mysql to locate everythign and run it correctly
@ dave - did you set your user to tbc in mangos?. you just need to put “setbc yourusername 1″ 1 will set your account to allow you to access bc content.
@schmu - i got that error aswell…my recomendation, just to a fresh install over the database, it corrects that problem and works just fine. just besure to save any characters you have before hand.
Reaper- i do have a question. with enchanting it seems to be bugged if cursor is left on first chant it wont scroll, if you move the cursor to any other chant you can scroll just fine but can use any of the spells. Also if you leave the window open it drops your fps to 0- i went from 260 to 0 and could figure out what happend. I closed enchants and it was fine. Let me know if you have any ideas on where to go with this. Thanks

How do you change a weapon from Main-Hand to One-handed? More specificly, I am modifying Phantom Blade, id 7961. I have already done some othter stuff that works, but i can’t figure out how to do this. I have done it in the past, so i know it’s possible, i just don’t know if i changed the actual weapon, or the slot on the character screen.
P.S. Can you give directions using the MySQL layout, as in, goto item_template, etc. Thank You.

hey the 96% thing is because you put patch-2.mpq and the patch-enUS-2.mpq in the directory, the error message from the extractor is irrelevant. delete them and your extracted dbc files and extract again without them and it should work fine.
I’m also having vista 64 problems with extracting my DBC files. Can’t find them anywhere so if anyone would be cool to upload them somewhere would be alot of help.

Wrong? I mean I FIXED the 96% error by downloading the patch-2.mpq and patch-enUS-2.mpq and placing them into the C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS file, and then RE-Extracting the DBC files, and replace the old DBC folder with the new one you just extracted. THAT SOLVES THE 96% ERROR! If you don’t have the patch-2.mpq and the patch-enUS-2.mpq then you WILL get the 96% error. So Now, I re-extracted the DBC files and replaced them, but now I’m getting the problem of “You have _outdated_ DBC files. Please extract correct versions from current using client.” I downloaded the mpq files from Chase’s link…so now i don’t know where to find these ‘Updated’ .MPQ files. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure I’m right.

Hey! I’m running vista 64 and when I run the DBC extracting I get fatal errors because of missing .dll files. The .dll file in question is located in the correct location even though I get errors. Anyway someone could upload the 2.3.0 enGB DBC files?

@Chrisb: Thanks for the tip, although it didnt help me. So far I used the upgrade batch file (after making a manual backup using the eazy menu), followed by a “fresh install” through the eazy menu. I created a new character & am now comparing their sections in the backup-char.sql file, see if I can spot the differences (missing fields or spaces) - if such a thing is even possible.
Yeah I’m having the same trouble. Getting errors with missing .dll files even tho they are in the frekkin right place. Maps and Vmaps extracted without any problems. This is the first in 5 different mangos servers ive used that i couldnt solve the problem. So an upload of the DBC files for 2.3.0 enGB would be lovely!
When i run Mangosd.exe and realmsd.exe…. and attempt to create a new account, it tells me that realmd.realmcharacters realmd.accounts realmd.realms list are all missing

Run reaper-x-mangos.bat inside of the reaper-easy-mangos dir. When the menu comes up choose option “4″ and it will ask you where you put those files. Option 2 will be to edit the mangosd.conf file and manually put in the location in the DataDir section.

one note: I always have the problem where Mangos can’t find msvcr71.dll even though I have both .net 1.x and 2 installed.
Easy fix for anyone else that has this problem is too look for the file on your computer and copy it too your mangod directory. problem fixed.

i did a fresh install. several times. and the error still occurs.
i am doing it from a copy of WoW, i made a folder and copied the entire WoW folder into it and i am doing all the emulation from there. that’s how i have always done it and i’ve never had a problem before, but now it’s not letting me run mangosd.exe and without that i cannot start the realm.
i may attempt another install but having tried 4+ times already i doubt it will be any different this time.
well i just tried a fresh install again, and still the same thing, cannot connect ><

When i run mangosd it tell me that i cannot connect to MySQL at 127.0.0.1

ok i figured it out, i had to delete all of my files and then reinstall them, now im at the part where it gets to 96% and fails, and so i downloaded from the links that chase had, although the first one doesnt work.
So now i have just one thing left to download but his link doesnt work, any help?

Already done that, maybe mangosd is looking for WoW Bc maps, i does not currently got BC installed, might that be the problem ?
Im also not able to extract the DBC, bcaz of
‘Could not locat MPQ archive Patch-enUS-2.MPQ’
^ I think that is not even a problem. It DOES extract the REQUIRED DBC files. We can ignore the Patch-enUS-2.MPQ error caz these extractor files are old ones… now after patch 2.3.0 , that file doesnt even exist.
I followed all the steps completely but when i start up mangosd and realmd mangosd seems to work fine but realmd gives error could not connect to mysql database at 1.0.0.127: can’t connect to mysql server on 1.0.0.127 (10060)
I did a fresh install.. everythin went perfect, the game runs…
BUT BUT BUT
I m not able to restore my character/realm database which I backuped from ReaperMangos4651.
I even tried renaming the file ‘backup-db.sql’ to ‘backup-char.sql’ which helped in a successful import in Database. But no characters were being displayed when i loggen in.
@ Reaper: how do i make my database backup work with this mangos release? Shud i send u an email again?

I see that the problem is that it is looking for /vmaps, but windows uses \vmaps. how do i change that?
I have an odd problem.After having much trouble with MySQL, everything seemed to be ok with MySQL 6.0alpha,but it was not to be…
I log in,crate a char,everything is OK,but after i create a second character(from that or any other account) everything in the character list disappears.The server remembers the chars’ names,but does not show them,so I(end everyone else) can’t log in.

I cannot get the burning crusades to work! When i go to character creation, it just wont allow me to pick blood elves (its grayed out).
I have the real game and have been playing on the regular server for a long time now.
I also checked that the option to check for the expansion in the config file is set to “1″ and it still doesn’t work. Does anyone else know what could be wrong?
There is a setting not mantioned in the guide.When you create an account you shoud:
mangos>create USERNAME PASSWORD
mangos>setbc USER 1
mangos>setgm USER #
“#” is the desired gm privilege ranging from 1 to 3(3 being the best ;) )
Yeah atm you cant access the burning crusade contents (outlands, new races) except for lvl 60-70 gear. The other thing to note is that enchanting does not work either

i had the 96% error and i deleted the patch 2 and patch enUS 2 mpqs and ran the extractor again and it worked fine for me. They no longer have those two files so using them makes it outdated.

Yes, usually patch-2, or xxx-2.mpq usually reappeared again on the minor update of WoW (for example 2.3.x where x is higher than 0)

Sry for posting again,but my problem persists after more than 10 reextracts and reintalls.The second character I create(no matter which acc is used) bugs the server(or database,not sure),and the character list doesn’t show any chars(but the server remembers their names).
Fresh installed,no errors as far as I can see.I’m open to any suggestions.

Just wanna say that everything seems to be working now.It was some glitch with my system.Installed mysql-5.0.18-win32(the only one I hadn’t tried out)and manually deleted Windows registry entries and files from old installs,reextracted mps,vmps,dbc and now seems to be OK :D

Upgrading/fresh installing over my 4703 instance gave me troubles - chars not showing up but names still held by DB (”name invalid”), as well as following error in Mangos console:
ERROR: Player #2 have broken data in `data` field. Can’t be loaded.
So downgraded to 2.2.3, reinstalled 4703 fresh (after backing up & then restoring char info) same deal, although now the char creation mentions an error when creating chars with existing names - “error creating character”
Did the upgrade to 2.3, fresh install of 4875 … and the chars are back ^.^
No idea how or why, but posting this in case it helps anyone~

I have a problem. everything works just fine except when im playing every npc is yellow like they wont attack unless u attack em but if u attack they wont attack i cant get anyone to attack me but if i add lets say illidan in orgrimmar then the gaurds will hit him but not vice versa
after i put my root password in cmd gets something like letters but sentences and it is short, the says press ant key, so i pressed 1 and men its like matrix does it is long?
hey chase, about the patch-enUS-2.MPQ file. reaper said you dont need to worry about that or any files with -2 after it. although i got the same problem with the mangosd it loaded to 96% than said it couldnt find a file so i think something might be wrong with the new 4875 release… dont know yet. if anyone has an idea on what i might be doing wrong im watching the comments.

ok im still getting trouble with 96% serousily i tried changing the datadir in mangosd.conf to go like this:
DataDir = “C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/Data”
(if it hasnt been messed with it will have “\” instead of “/” so i guess you need to change it.
btw thats exactly how mine looks and for some reason you guys have mangos/data. anywase i still get 96% and then it brings up the same message as everyone else about the dbc. can anyone shed some light on the situation?

i checked to see ifthe file ItemExtendedCost.dbc was in the dbc folder and it was so i think either the dbc folder is messed up or the itemextendedcost.dbc file is messed up.

Based from your description it seems that you’re still using the old wow 2.2.3 because the previous ItemExtendedCost.dbc have 13 fields (if you take a look inside it using dbc editor) while the new 2.3.0 version have 14 fields ;)
reaper, when you say old wow version 2.2.3 you mean the patch for wow not mangos right?
Hey Reaper, I’ve been looking all over the place for a solution but can’t find one… The DBC extraction isn’t working for me, apparently because I use Vista (not my choice), and was hoping you could make a manual download link. I hate to be a bother, but I wouldn’t be asking this if I hand’t already spent a matter of months trying to accomplish this myself. :P
I’m pretty sure I didnt everything right. I got no error messages or anything but when I go to log in, I get “cannot connect”

ok thanks reaper i didnt know we had to get the 2.3 patch first but now im having a problem getting the patch i tried and it has some error and i think its because of mangos. i cant give you the error cause its on another pc.

Well, i did the mangos>setbc USER 1, and it works! I can create characters of both new races and it seems to work just fine. I dont know how to work the teleport command to tele so i cant say the outlands work but since i can create both the two new characters (both tested), i would assume the burning crusade contents work.

usually if you get that error message (i assume that you’ve changed the realmlist.wtf file to point to 127.0.0.1) that means mangos didn’t start properly or there’s something using the same port as mangos

I took a pretty long approach, not sure all of this is needed. I thought it’d be a good idea to double check the server with a working client by downgrading it using a method explained by Reaper here (http://www.reaper-x.com/2007/09/29/how-to-revert-to-previous-wow-patch/). If you go that route, you might need to go through the whole data extraction process. Try not to overwrite your 2.3.0 server data in doing so - saves some time. I had 2 folders, one for 2.2.3 data and another for 2.3.0, and 2 different instances of Reaper-Mangos pointing to their respective folder (sharing the same database so couldnt actually run both as once).
You might be able to simply install your previous version of Reaper-Mangos (4703 most likely), backup the char info, freshly install it, restore char info. After configuring the instance, you should be able to create new chars on that server using a 2.2.3 client, but get errors when trying to reuse names of chars you lost.
Then, using your 4875 Reaper-Mangos, do those same steps (backup chars, fresh install, restore chars). Also upgrade your client to 2.3.0 if you downgraded. After configuring the instance, I got my old characters back, including one I had created with my original 4875 install - but not the one I created under 4703.

It seems to be a great server build but I cant get past a problem…
I ran through everything and when I got to the ‘Create a GM account’ the Mangosd.exe wouldnt work because I was missing a /Maps file. So, I went in and looked and my /Maps folder is EMPTY. Nothing was extracted at all. To try and attempt to fix this I went to my WoW installation directory and ran the extract-map.bat file and it just flickered on my screen. i tried numerous more times and all it did was create an empty Maps folder…
Can you please help me? I really want to get my server started and this is very annoying (I’m sooo close to being done lol)

i keep getting this error when im running mangosd.exe:
check existing map file c:/program files/World of warcraft/data/map/530143.map not exist!
im guessing its because of the “/” instead of “\”
but in the mangosd.conf i can only change it until /data
and then it goes

Ok, I moved the extract-map.bat and Ad.exe files to the main C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\ directory and ran it and it seemed to work (its processing now =D)

I got everything woking perfectly expect the part in the reaper-x-mangos.bat where i put in the password. I type in the right password but it comes up saying:

No, I had the same problem with the previous version, which didn’t work because it was 2.3, but still found the DBC files on a link you posted for a manual download, for that version. I’m trying your latest version but it still won’t extract, so I was hoping you’d do the same for this version… Also, Merry Christmas. :)

I search for ages for a working 2.3 release.
Now I found yours, still, before ‘tossing away my paid account and getting some pay-free-gameplay I got a couple of questions to ask:
1.Most ManGos Releases suffer on Stealth-Skills & Stealth-Detection on Rogues - did the newest release of Mango any improvement?
2.Does it still broke down most of the quests?
3.How stable is it? Latest Mango Rev. I tried (WoW 2.1.x) crashed every 15-20 minutes in the Outlands.
4.Is there anyway to change reputation in your Mod? (Gaining Mounts of other races f.e.)
5 - and last one:
My english isn’t that good, ’cause I’m German - If I get your post right up there, you still didn’t released the “Easy”-Client, is that right?
The error is in WOW. It says it cannot connect to server. Should I forward ports and do all the other stuff in the other guide, such as Dynamic DNS, etc. I’m in the process of doing that.

actually you can always switch between the official and private server easily so you don’t need to toss away your paid account ;)
as for the mod version, yes you can change the rep but it’s not available in this version :( (i’m still looking on what custom patches i should add to the next mangosmod version)
as for crash, to be honest i never experienced any crash except for one version (not released) that’ll cause crash right after you’re completing the hunter quest (horde) and when trying to go back to orgrimmar. though it has been fixed :)

Actually if you are not planning on creating public server (accessible by public), then you can just use 127.0.0.1 as the address (by default) :)
