Reaper Mangos 4703 – Easy WoW Mangos Private Server

Time for another Mangos release and as the title said, this is a clean compiled version of Mangos 4703 (without any custom patches) with Scriptdev2 Revision 156 and Unified Database 0.8.1 with Changesets 326 applied. Although you can also download the small version (minus the Unified Database), that perhaps might be useful to those who prefer to update their mangos core manually :)

While Reaper Mangos Mod 4703 (the custom version) can be found at that link (Note: if you’re not familiar enough with Mangos i’d suggest you to get this one instead)
So here are the steps :
Requirements :
1. Working MySQL Installation (if you have MySQL Installed automatically from another Repack, i’d suggest you to completely remove it unless you know how to configure it)
2. World of Warcraft Client version 2.2.3 with TBC Expansion Pack installed (because that’s what i’m using right now, so if you don’t have TBC installed and not using the latest 2.2.3 version, i can’t really help you)
3. Mangos Server :

IMPORTANT : If you’re upgrading from my 4651, you should download this updated batch file and overwrite the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory with this one, btw i’d suggest you to get this one even if you’re not upgrading

Update : It seems that some people love the custom GM Island Vendor made by Silvermoon Project, so i decided to convert it so you can use it on this 4703 Release, but as a side note because there is specific item that only exists on the Silvermoon Database, if you see message on the Mangosd Window saying that some item can’t be found, you don’t need to worry about it (it doesn’t affect your gameplay)
Download GM Island NPC Custom Vendor (you just need to run the batch file included)

This section is optional to those who want to create a public server
4. You need to know how to setup port forwarding from your router first, and also configure your firewall to allow the port specified in Mangosd.conf and Realmd.conf (if you use DSL Connection, you’ll need to know how to setup port forwarding first or else your friend won’t be able to connect to your server)

Fresh Installation Steps :
1. Installing MySQL on Windows XP 32 Bit (you’ll need to have mysql installed first)
2. Extract DBC, Maps and VMaps from your World of Warcraft Client
3. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside the reaper-eazy-mangos directory / folder, and you’ll see something like this, and now all you have to do is just write the full path to your mysql installation directory (where mysql.exe and mysqldump.exe can be found) ;)
4. Now you just need to choose option number 1 to install the database as shown on below image, and when prompted for your mysql root password, don’t forget to write the correct password … :)
5. After finished with the database installation, now you need to choose option number 4 (required, unless you know how to edit the mangosd.conf manually) to adjust the datadir and adjust the exp rate, and drop rate :)
6. Now after finished with all the above process, you’ll need to go inside your World of Warcraft installation directory (for example C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft) and then open the realmlist.wtf using notepad and …
replace :
set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
with :
set realmlist 127.0.0.1
save it and close realmlist.wtf file
7. Now you just need to run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe from your mangos directory and then the next step would be creating username of course :D by typing create username password inside the mangosd window as shown on below image as an example … followed by typing setbc username 1 … so you can choose Blood Elv and Draenei
finally you just need to type setgm username 3 so you’ll have the GM Power, and … done !!! congrats … now all you have to do is just login using the username you’ve created before ;)
Optional :
If you want to change the server name into something else, you can use the reaper-x-mangos.bat to adjust it :)
Upgrading from Reaper Mangos 4651 :
First of all i’m really sorry that since there are many changes made to the database structure itself in Mangos, i can’t write instruction on how to upgrade your server from any version below 4651 (or it’ll be a very long post and i know that you don’t really want to read a long post) :P
So to those who are still using Mangos revision below 4651, you can contact me directly if you need help :)
and here are the step to those who are using Reaper Mangos 4651
1. Backup any custom data you’ve created before (such as custom vendors, custom weapon, custom armor, etc) using your mysql client … (i’m sure those who are creating their own custom stuff already have their own mysql client ready to be used) … but remember though if you’ve created custom vendor just make sure that it is compatible with this mangos version ;)
2. run reaper-x-mangos.bat inside the reaper-eazy-mangos directory and then choose option 99 to begin the upgrade process … and wait until it finished
3. Choose option 4 to reconfigure your mangosd.conf and no, don’t use the previous mangosd.conf because it has been changed
4. Done :)

Hey. I installed your server, so far so good I guess… (People outside my network cant connect to my server, but thats outside the point.) I was looking into how to create/edit my own creatures and items, and was hoping if you tell me how. I downloaded Navicat to try it out, but when I go into a file such as the items ones or the creature ones, I really dont understand it. Help appreciated!
i just learned to compile my own. If i new how to writer binaries to make it easy like reaper did i would help you guys out but sorry i dont =(

everytime i try to run magosd.bat i get this error
Correct *.map files not found in path in path ‘C:\Mangos\data/maps’ or *.vamp/*vmdir files in ‘C:\Mangos\Data/vmaps’. Please place *.map/(.vmap/*.vmdir files in appropriate directories or correct the DataDir value in the magosd.conf file.

You’re still running version 2.3 of wow instead of 2.2.3, which is the only version that mangos supports right now. You’ll just need to downgrade :)

Okay , running into a few problems.
Ive download MySQL from your instructions checked to make sure it worked , all clear.
Ive extracted the DBC, Maps and VMaps.
I try to open ” Realmd , Mangos ”
Error Message – This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
Ive searched this and found other people with the problem , so i tryed solving it how they did.
I downloaded the .net runtime framework 1.1 , Restarted and tryed again , No success.
Any ideas?

Let me make that clear as well. What I mean is that in the mangos forums there already are compiles up to Mangos 4802 with SD2 189 for v2.2.3. I’m just hoping for Reaper-x to release his soon for v2.2.3 cause I believe there is still about a 2 week min wait before they’ll release v2.3… as I said in one of my previous posts to Vin’s question. :)
Oh and by the way, unlike others, I read the WHOLE page that I’m interested in to see if the same exact question had been asked and/or answered. I don’t like seeing lazy people reposting a common question, that has already been answered multiple times, without reading other posts ahead of time. Just thought I should fill you in but thanks anyways for the tip.

I know that… I’ve been playing on 2.2.3 for about 3 weeks or more now. That’s why I said “Hope you release your NEXT compile for v2.2.3 [soon]” instead of hope you release A compile for v2.2.3 soon. Sorry if my wording isn’t clear… I thought it was clear enough. Anyways the reason I said that I hope Reaper-x releases his NEXT compile for v2.2.3 soon is because its already on Mangos 4802 with SD2 189 for v2.2.3. Now do you see what Im saying?

Yes, just run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside the reaper-eazy-mangos directory / folder and enter 4 to reconfigure mangos. You can run this more than once to configure your mangos to what you prefer.

No problem, its just a rough guess… I’m thinking it will most likely be around there cause like I said there were many changes and it will take awhile to get enough of the changes functional to be able to release v2.3.

Where are you…? Hope you release your next compile for v2.2.3 within about 48 hrs or so cause after that I’ll have to download it on dial-up… which really isn’t much of an option. :)
I’ve got a quick question, I’ve had my private server up and running for a few days now, my question is, is there any way to go back in and reconfigure item drop rate, gold, and xp?

I have one question though. How can I remove the custom vendors from Stormwind and the other cities.
And a little bug to submit… When I enter Gruul’s Lair and when I aggro King Mulgar and his thugs the server crashes.

I’m currently waiting for Reaper’s next Compile. :) So far the latest compile I’ve seen in another forum is MaNGOS 4792 + ScriptDev2 Rev. 183. That’s for 2.2.3 :), can’t wait for 2.3 theres a few cool things that I’ve seen that I really like. Looks like Reaper-X still hasn’t posted feedback… its been a few days, must be compiling or really bussy. Keep up the good work!

I have one question, I have been reading topics on your forum people estimating the 2.3 release times and so on and so forth and I was wondering why is it that other online private servers are already running 2.3. So I decided since I know you have alooooooot to do me and some friends are going to start working on compiling a mangose for 2.3 using the UDB 0.82 DB will keep you guys posted and most likely ask for a hand or advise here and there :) till we speak again ENJOY LIFE AND LIVE LIKE A CRAZY PERSON

Hey does anyone reading this have Navicat with a keygen? I’ve got the 30-day trial version of it to change my database values easier and my trial just ended. I tried patching it but I guess it didn’t work and now my version displays as version 0.0.0.0 lol. It’s Navicat 8.0 if I recall right, any keygen will work as long as I get the program with it. ok i have had my private server for 2 weeks now and now this day i cant start up my mangosd because i get this error when it says that the darkmoon fair event is trying to load and alot of creature guids arnt loading b cuz of the darkmoon fair thing and i cant finish the mangosd cuz i get the error………plz help
If you really want to know how long it will take to go from 2.2.3 to 2.3 I’d say that there is at least a min of 2 weeks left before 2.3 us released. Sorry about the bad news for those of you waiting (I am too) but it was a big patch with lots of changes so it will take awhile. And when 2.3 does work there will be more things that do not completely work cause there is a lot that has to be done to get it functional.
So please stop asking and be patient… either that or go play it live… and if you currently are playing live same applies, be patient. It would be nice though if Reaper-X would share his thoughts (Yes Reaper-X is a he… I know this cause in one of his pages he mentions he has a wife).

i still play wow on there server’s. if you dont have friends in your privit server it gets very boreing after a wile.
on your resamay you can put had expereins from makeing your own game at home and put bhow long you have been doing it for. this should work.

You have to wait until reaper finishes updating the newest version. You guys have to get the newest version of mangos i think its 4767 or somethin like that. Just give reaper some time
Hello, I was hoping you could help me out with a little problem I am having when executing Mangosd.exe. It begins to initialize data stores, reaches 96%, and fails with an error. It says that “Some required *.dbc files not found or not compatible:
D:\mangos\data/dbc/ItemExtendedCost.dbc Wrong client version DBC file?” I tried reextracting .dbc files and replacing the ones I currently have, and that did not help. Any help would be appreciated. Adios.

I doubt Blizzard would hire anyone who openly admitted to running a private server. They would more likely end up in court. Blizzard consider private servers illegal and a threat to their business. It is expensive for them to chase after individuals though so they tend to send a notification to a server provider first threatening legal action.
They would definately be trying to close the MaNGOS project if it claimed to be teaching people how to set up public/private servers.
Luckily MaNGOS is an educational project that teaches people the skills they need to operate an MMO. The legally important distinction is that you set up a server so that you are able to learn how to maintain and operate it, not to run a public server.
IF individuals choose to use these skills in a way Blizzard sees as illegal then ManGOS neither supports nor condones it. They cannot or face prosecution.

after that if your good enufe it would help you in geting a job with blizzerd. you will already know how to do stuff before they ask and you your self could give good ideas for more expanshions or classes or races.

but there are some people just want there own server because they dont see the point in haveing to pay to play when you already buy the game at there local store.
i know why they make people pay to play it so they can make more stuff for the game like patches,expanshions,new races,classes,and so on. I still pay to play but i have this so i can learn how to make stuff for them or make new armor weapons or spells.
Reaper-X is like a very very good teacher he or she explanes how to do the stuff so people can understand it.

im just haveing one problem alot of the quests have errors and it loades everything even every one of the holaday events that dont need to be there how do i fix this problem theres npc’s that are in spots where they shouldnt be.

Reaper do you know how to apply patches? Like im using this release from you and i got some pople together and we went to the gurubashi arena to pvp yet everyone doesnt get the FFA pvp flag like you do on retail. So i found this patch

Mage spells for enemies do not work really, bosses are not scripted yet, though if you check the MaNGOS forums you may find scripts and patches that people have come up with for these issues. The project is a work in progress – things only work when someone has managed to get a working script functioning that does not break anything else.

Emulators will never be as “good” as the official servers.

Emulators = volunteers
If you expect the same quality and experience as the Official servers you will be dissapointed. Mangos is a project to help people learn how to set up and maintain an MMO. It isn’t intended as a REPLACEMENT for Blizzards servers. :)
I am guessing then the bosses just do normal attacks? then does the mages spells work and is the bonus damg working? i do play live and could get picky :)
