Mangos 4535 ScriptDev2 137 work with WoW 2.1.3, 2.2, and 2.2.2

I just noticed today that patch 2.2.2 has been released … and so that’s why i’ve decided to upload another release of WoW Mangos for WoW 2.2.2 but for optimal result you should use it on 2.1.3 though since 2.2 and 2.2.2 just gets released this week, so it’s not fully supported yet … but i’ve decided to upload this eventhough i just released 4524 few days ago …

Although i don’t see any problem at all (but that’s because of my lack knowledge about World of Warcraft itself) … but … at least the mangosd.exe process is not crash :P and it is still running in the background normally. As another note, since the only files changed in 2.2+ is just the DBC files, i’ve included the DBC files to make thing easier for you … and all you have to do is just extract the VMaps and Maps files and then configure the datadir, and lastly you just need to import the database

But i think it’d be better if i list the steps :)

UPDATE : If you just recently upgraded into WoW 2.2.3 … please check my new Mangos 4577, Scriptdev2 140 and with Project Silvermoon and Unified Database included ;)

Requirements :

Upgrading from previous Mangos 4488, 4505, and 4525 release :

Note : Look for my previous post for MySQL Installation guide, because i assume you’ve done installing and configuring mysql ;)

1. Copy the dbc files included overwriting previously extracted DBC Files

2. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat inside reaper-eazy-mangos directory, and choose to backup your character first

3. Then choose Installation / Upgrade … and wait until finished

4. Now choose the Restore option to restore your precious character data

5. Choose the option to adjust the datadir, and configure the exp rate, etc …

6. Now you need to go into your World of Warcraft installation directory, and then delete the Cache directory there and then run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe you’re done

Optional : Since this 4535 release, i’ve modified the batch script so to those who want to change their realm name can do it using the menu provided instead of executing the sql queries manually :)

Fresh Installation :

1. Copy all files from MapExtractor directory and VMaps Extractor and Assembler into your World of Warcraft Installation directory and then run extract-map.bat first and wait until it’s finished, after finished now you need to run the makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat and wait until Press Any Key To Continue Message appear (that mean you’ve finished extracting the VMaps) … before that message appear don’t close that window (don’t worry it’ll took a while to finish this process) :)

2. After finished with the previous steps, now you just need to move the VMaps and Maps directory which is created automatically from the previous step into the same directory as your DBC Directory

3. Now you just need to follow the upgrade process, because the next steps is just the same like the Upgrading process with the exception if you’re doing a fresh install, you don’t need to perform backup first

Screenshot taken using WoW 2.2.2 (it’s still the same old character, i’m just too lazy to create a new character lol) :

Yet another screenshot

Another note : WoW 2.2 and 2.2.2 still not fully supported by Mangos, so if you found any errors message when used on WoW 2.2, or 2.2.2 … you just need to wait until the Mangos team has released the fully compatible … this is just a quick and dirty way so you can play on WoW 2.2.2 which is just released today

I am really trying to get this working but this site makes it soo hard!

Please can you just have a page with the list of versions on it with the latest at the top.

Each page I go to at the top it has update go to.. blah…..

Please just one page which is up to date not linking through a chain of about 6 pages to get the latest version would be a godsend.

  6. Reaper-X said Nov 4, 2007 at 9:33 pm

you can extract the map files using the map extractor included but as a side note, i’d suggest you to get the current version or you can also browse the category from here (just in case i released another update) version instead of this one :)

Hola, i create a working server have been playing it for the past few days, and now when i try to connect it says Could not connect to MySQL Database at 127.0.0.1: Can’t connect to MySQL Server on 127.0.0.1

  11. Fitz said Oct 13, 2007 at 2:21 pm

VISTA USERS, for some reason you get Error messages are: Using unknown world database, 0004331.map not excists (Have it in the right dir) and please put the (maps etc.) in the appropriate directories, just copy the folder your data is in to your desktop and reset the directory to there and it will access them correctly.

tnx reaper I,m looking in to it.

    # Mike2

Unfortunately i dont have Vista or newer OS (and not planning on moving yet, because i’m guessing lots of my critical application aren’t going to work there) so i can’t test it, your best option is to compile mangos by yourself :(

    # Siegelink

Lol .. there’s no need for me to ban anyone (i do support free speech as long as it’s related to the topic) :P … as a side note, actually im planning on moving to Vista (64 Bit), but not in near future of course ;)

For mangos I,m gonna try setting it up on another small computer with XP and use it as a somewhat dedicated server.

Actually if you have Linux (i’m running Centos), you can use that one instead of XP :)

  14. Siegelink said Oct 11, 2007 at 1:49 am

Don’t ban me from this site :)

But I think that from a mainstream user perspective Vista is fantasic and more reliable the XP could ever be (I,m using Vista ultimate edition offcourse).

I mean, Even resident evil 3 works perfect on vista (Something XP could never do.) and the security is also Tight as hell.

For mangos I,m gonna try setting it up on another small computer with XP and use it as a somewhat dedicated server.

Reaper X, I am running mangos on windows server 2008. As other users have said before there is a problem with mangos running under windows engines newer than XP. The biggest problem I have found is when you talk to a city guard, the game keeps running with you disconnected and the server comes up with “mangos.exe” has stopped working due to a problem.

Now I hate new OS like Vista just like most people, but I want to use windows server 2008, because I have a genuine legal cdkey for it.

Reaper-X I know this is a big ask, but could you make a fix for mangos.exe allowing it to run under new OS’s like vista and server 08. I am happy to give you an debugging logs, of the issue.

    Thanks

“Please wait, it’ll take a while to import the database”
for about an hour is this bad?

  17. Reaper-X said Oct 10, 2007 at 4:18 am

    Thanks

  24. Rickie said Oct 10, 2007 at 1:26 am

    @Siegelink
like if u go and talk to the guard mangos crashes. if u go to org and walk around near the bank or AH u get tele to a place i never seen. if u want to see it your self download Hamachi join- Wowtbc34 and the pass is rickie. put in 5.173.43.63 in realmlist your account is Siegelink and your password is Siegelink. try it your self

    Some questions regarding pets:
    - are there similar commands to the self-levelup but for the hunter pets?
    - is it possible to modify existing beasts to make them tameable? e.g.: making a devilsaur tameable :D

    REAPER-X
    btw,
Many thanks for this rocking program. :)

  27. Siegelink said Oct 9, 2007 at 10:43 pm

    I couldn’t patiently wait :~]

I just installed 4535 with 2.2.2 on windows xp service pack 2 and it worked perfectly!

    So the problem is Vista.

I tried to manually set the priority class lower on vista but that only created more problems.

Also I extracted the (vmaps maps dbc) files on vista which later on worked fine on xp, so the problem is not in the extraction of the files.

  28. Meh said Oct 9, 2007 at 10:19 pm

Heya,i got my server working now, huge thanks reaper, but how can i create wpns?

  29. Jeremy said Oct 9, 2007 at 10:03 pm

Yea i eventually read through all the gm commands, there is some crazy stuff you can do >.< ohh and yea, im very annoyed because blizz just released 2.2.3, annnnnnnnnnnnd now no one can join my server because of it, even i keep getting the “Unable to validate game version, this might be caused by file corruption…blah blah” just as you try to log in. So yea i tried re adding the set patchlist line back into the realmlist.wtf and still no luck. Once again when you get around to it, and if its not just me then you will get a lot of emails about this lol. Cheers Jeremy

I’m still having the extract-map.bat issuse, I mean I can get it to run now, but I can’t find where the files are at.. I moved the extract-map.bat into the world of warcraft folder, and run it from there but.. I can’t find the files.
Did a windows search for anything to do with “map” and “maps” but nothing of the stuff I need.
