WoW Mangos 4524 modified to work with WoW 2.1.3 and 2.2

Another WoW Mangos Release time … basically this release is to those who’s prefer to stick with their WoW 2.2 Client and not planning on reverting to the previous 2.1.3 patch. And i’ve only done a small modification so that it’ll accept the 2.1.3 and 2.2 client only. But as a note, 2.2 is still not officially supported yet by the Mangos team (and i don’t know when it’ll be fully supported). So if you found any errors message when used on 2.2 client you just need to be patience :P
As an addition, from this release i’ve decided to stick with only 1 release that contain the full database dump (because of my slow connection), but to those who’s already using my previous wow mangos 4488 and mangos 4505 compilation, you don’t need to worry about it because you can also upgrade from your previous version without problem ;)
One more thing, the batch files i’ve created is only tested on Windows XP SP2 … i haven’t tried it on Vista yet, so to those who’s running Vista perhaps could give it a test and tell me is it working for Vista too or not :)
Update : If you’ve just upgraded into 2.2.2 recently, and not planning on reverting your wow installation to 2.1.3 or 2.2 … you can try my new Mangos 4535 Release (ScriptDev2 137, extracted DBC from WoW 2.2.2)

Okay … and here are the steps to use it :
Requirements :
1. MySQL : Look at my previous post more info about installing mysql
2. .NET Runtime 2 or other files that is related to your system (if you get error message saying that MSVCx.dll can’t be found or missing runtime … you just need to go to Microsoft website to download it … although this is a rare case but it seems that some people experiencing this issue)
Upgrading from Previous Version :
1. Extract the archive somewhere in your harddisk for example C:\reaper-mangos-R4524 and then go to reaper-eazy-mangos directory
2. Run the reaper-x-mangos.bat and choose the option to backup your data and wait until the process finished
3. After finished with the backup process, then you’ll be at the menu screen once again … and this time you just need to choose Installation from the menu … and wait
4. Now you just need to choose Restore, to restore your character data …
5. Now for the last step … you just need to choose the Mangos Config Editor from the menu and adjust it accordingly (especially at the datadir to point to the previous data directory location) … and you’re done
Fresh WoW Mangos Install :
Note : All tools located in tools directory
1. Copy all files inside the MapExtractor Directory into C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft (this is the default installation path for World of Warcraft) and then run the extract-map.bat
2. Copy all files inside VmapExtractAssembler into C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft and run makevmaps_SIMPLE.bat … and wait again until it finished
3. Copy all files inside DBC Extractor into C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS … and run the extract.bat … and wait until it finished
Note : in order to use DBC Extractor you’ll need to have Microsoft .NET 2 Runtime (search the microsoft website for it)
4. Move vmaps, maps, and dbc folder from your World of Warcraft game directory into C:\reaper-mangos-R4524\data (create folder named data first)
the rest is just the same like the upgrade process with the exception, you don’t need to choose to backup or restore your data
And after finished everything as specified in the upgrade process, you just need to run mangosd.exe and realmd.exe and add your own username by typing create blabla blabla as shown on below image :)
As a bonus, i’ve also added a realmlist ip changer (in the menu) so those who’s having problem with configuring their realmlist to be accessible from LAN, can use it to make things easier ;)
Special Note to WoW 2.2 Users :
If you previously haven’t extracted the DBC files, maps and vmaps files from your WoW 2.1.3 client, and you get an error message saying that Patch-enUS-2.MPQ can’t be found … you can just safely ignore that error message
I’ve tested the 2.2 Client with this modified 4524 Mangos and everything seems to work fine (but perhaps that’s just me since i never played on official server) except that you’ll see lots of message on your mangosd window
And of course that’s because 2.2 is still not supported yet by Mangos … but to those who’s running wow 2.1.3 all i can say is … everything seems to be good and you won’t see message that’s only get shown when running the WoW 2.2 client ;)

hey i need help i dont know which microsoft.net i have to download but when i try to download it, it says i alrdy have it installed but when i use the extract it says:

How do I get this to work with 2.4.1? I’ve used this before ages ago and had no problem with it. Now when I try to log into WoW it says “Unable to validate game version”
I try to open mangosd and it just flashes the command line prompt and then disapears
For those who are getting
Error opening archive or File operation Error when extracting the MAPS files,
please try putting the “extract-map.bat” file in your world of warcraft directly. (i.e. moving out of enUS/enGB directory and in the main directory, above data directory). It seems the ad.exe program is not created to work within enUS or enGB directory.
Try it and let me know if it works.

I am having a problem with gems, they seem to be removing stats from my charecters? Anyone else had this issue?
Hey i have this problem, my friend created a server at his place and i have a character on that server, and now i created server at home and everything works great, but i would like to now how do i get that character from my friends server! I saw somwhere you wrote that i should get database dump but i dont know where that is! So if you could please tell me where can i find that database dump and where do i copy it!

nm, something is still bugged
If anyone is still having the but it couldn’t find map: 0004331 Error message it is easy to fix. Dump all your vmap map and dbc files all into one directory c:/mangos/data then edit your mangos config file to point to c:/mangos/data/ as your data directory.
It looks for all 3 types of files all in one folder.
Hey ive got a rpoblem when i try to load up the private server heres what it says for mangos:

I downloaded it and did what you said, but the part where i have to change the DataDir in the mangosd config file. I can’t, because there isn’t one. i looked at a previous version and copied and pasted the whole thing and it says :

When i leave it alone and have it default and run it it says:

I don’t get the first one, but there isn’t a DataDir value in the mangosd.config file.

I’ve got mine installed on Vista too, and for the permission thingy, just Press F1 on the desktop, and search up for UAC and turn UAC off, and that way they won’t ask u for permission to run the program.

just tried installing your thingy at Vista, works fine! Althou – there’s a bit of problems with permissions, firstly you need to add yourself (sic!) some privillages to run command prompt :), then you need to change settings to run MySQL as process. Once you’re done with that – you need to run everything using admin~, otherwise Vista won`t let you run mangos and will keep blocking it.
Anyways, things work fine, compilation’s very nice ! Congrats on it :)
I’ve actually test it using enGB version of WoW and it’s all good aswell, works if you change file name in ‘DBC Extractor/extract’ to enGB from enUS :>

hi there, first of all thanks for your guide :)
second after 4 DAYS(!) of faffing round with various files i managed to get a TBC server (2.1.3) going. it took me 4 installs and update cycles of the program, about 6 different versions of the database and about 13 different versions of ad.exe
so tips to anyone using the engb version of the client..
* download ad.exe from somewhere else, im not going to link to it just make sure you’ve got the very latest version. (i did a search for this revision of mangos and found it using google)
* The maps posted here wont work they are in the format of Map_01.bin etc. the maps we need are 0004331.map etc.
.. and mysql is instaled correctly :p i can “log in” at the command promp
..using version 2.1.3 btw ;-)

Im using Windows Vista to setup my WoW server,
when i start mangosd.exe it says:
“cannot connect to world database 127.0.0.1;3306;mangos;mangos;mangos”
it also says
“could not connect to MySql database at 127.0.0.1: acces denied for user ‘Mangos @ localhost’”
how do i solve this problem?

Hello Reaper, I’ve been trying to set up a server, took me 2 days of fustration on an window xp pc, and I had no problem doing it on my window vista laptop.. Anyhow here’s the problem, I can’t use ad.exe, or extract any vmap files, so I did it on my window vista and copied it into my pc, everything was going well but now I’m getting a weird problem, I try to launch mangosd.exe and it displays this log

The private server works PERFECTLY for me!
And ive set it up through hamachi so my friend across Australia can connect
But My friends can connect to the server but when they choose a realm it brings them back to the realm list.
Ive tried everything i can think of! And ive browsed through here and done everything i can! Help!

actually (sorry to spam post btw) It sems my problem includes anything with a timer. Spells, opening objects or crafting.
I seem to also be having trouble interacting with world objects (i.e. food crates and quest items) any way to fix this?
ah, yeah I am using 4535 from http://www.reaper-x.com/2007/10/03/mangos-4535-scriptdev2-137-work-with-wow-213-22-and-222/ as for the drop rate thinger, I am speaking of the drop rates from loot and gold, as well as the xp gain that you get from killing mobs, completeing quests, and finding zones. I have adjusted all the rates in the config file as well as through the mangos bat console thinger…and nada. Please helps :)

You don’t need to use hamachi if you already set up some port forwarding, here are what you should do :
Note : i assume you’ve changed your realmd.realmlist table ip address to your dyndns address or your own static ip address
1. Change the Realmd port into another values above 7000 and then run the realmd.exe
2. Use online port scanner to see if your specified port for realmd can be accessed
http://www.grc.com (a good place to port scan your computer)
3. If you can see that port open, now that mean you can use that port, if not and you’re behind router try to setup port forwarding to that new port used by realmd until you can see that port is accessible
4. When everything finished, now you need to tell your client to change their realmlist.wtf into something like this
yourdyndnsaddress:realmdport
and you’re done :)
damn.. again and again… I tried change port, tried run server on hamachi and still he gets that table with realm selection.
