How to revert to previous WoW Patch

It seems some people have been asking on how to revert their wow installation to the previous patch (in this case into 2.1.3 from 2.2 patch), and still haven’t found the exact answer to their question and so that’s why i’m going to write a short how to revert your wow patch
Requirements :
1. Repair.exe in your WoW Installation Directory
2. A working internet connection
3. Individual patch for each update you’re going to apply (like below image for an example) …
4. Ability to delete or rename files :P
Here are the steps :
1. Rename wow.exe inside your World of Warcraft Installation Directory into something else (like wowowow.exe)
2. Run the repair.exe and let it do the job to check your WoW Installation for corrupted files
3. After finished checking, it’ll find that there’s something missing from your WoW installation and then it’ll download the missing file automatically and in my case because i want to revert from 2.2 into 2.1.3, it’ll automatically revert to 2.0.0
4. Now to make sure that our wow version already reverted into 2.0.0, you just need to run the wow.exe (not the launcher or the pop up screen) and see the version number at the bottom left of your screen
5. Okay since we’ve reverted to 2.0.0 and want to get back on using 2.1.3, all we have to do is just running the individual update patch manually from 2.0.0 into 2.1.3 (see the above image), and don’t forget to press escape immediately when the wow launcher screen pop-up to cancel the launcher from updating your wow installation automatically
6. After finished patching your wow into 2.1.3 again now you need to run the wow.exe again to make sure that you’re already back into using the previous 2.1.3 installation … then exit from wow
7. You’re done ;)
Things to note :
It seems that World of Warcraft love changing your wow shortcut (even if you created it by yourself) on your desktop if you just upgraded your wow patch. And in my case, i have two shortcut located on my desktop :
The first one is the World of Warcraft launcher, while the second is to run the wow.exe directly … and guess what ? after i’ve installed the 2.2 patch the second shortcut that previously point to wow.exe directly got changed by WoW automatically so it’s pointing to the launcher instead
So … your best bet is … to run the WoW.exe directly from your World of Warcraft installation directory to prevent wow from automatically patching your game
Note : Actually since i'm still using a slow connection it doesn’t really a big deal for me because i can cancel the update process from the launcher anytime i want … but to those who’s using a fast connection, i know your pain very well (i guess slow connection is not that bad at all) :P

Wow, this would be nice if we actually had the patch to install. There are poeple in the same boat as me. Where it updated from 2.0 to 2.2 with no patches in between.

ok ive done everything youve done in your guide but when i got to get on my private sever i get through but it still makes me update to 2.2 and ive tried everything to stop it but i cant seem to do it any question or maybe so help?
yes me too my problem i just like jamess i did everything but game version is still 2.2.0 .... what to do ?!?!
aah .. you don't need to worry about it anymore, i just released the mangos 2.2.3 support :)
but to answer your question, did you disable the automatic download from the launcher ? ;)

Here are the complete list on what you should get :
- 2.0.0 to 2.0.3
- 2.0.3 to 2.0.12
- 2.0.12 to 2.1.0
- 2.1.0 to 2.1.1
- 2.1.1 to 2.1.2
- 2.1.2 to 2.1.3
You can stop updating here on 2.1.3 (mangos officially support the 2.1.3) or if you want to continue
- 2.1.3 to 2.2.0
- 2.2.0 to 2.2.2
- 2.2.2 to 2.2.3
done :D
Total file size from 2.0.0 to 2.2.3 :
553 MB (i'm using the enUS)
Hi Reaper, I do now have WoW 2.1.3 and a running server, but my problem is the auto patching...
I can launch the game, but when I log into my account that i've created, I need to press a restart button to download another patch.....but I can't have that.
I am kinda stuck, what do I do...? :/

Just open the realmlist.wtf file, and change
the patchlist to 127.0.0.1
hey how do i stop wow from auto loading
as an important note, actually if you run the launcher even once. It'll automatically change any shortcut in your desktop (if you had changed it previously) that point to wow.exe into launcher.exe
so make sure to check that one too ;)
I'm not getting the autoloading screen that comes through launcher.exe, I'm getting one that says "patch required" when I start up WoW and try to log in. How do I stop this from coming up? I just want it to let me keep playing in 2.1.3

Went to the site to try and find the patch that goes from 2.0.0(6080) up, but there is nothing. Does anyone have this or do I need to reinstall the damn game again and try to see if it will pull that without going straight to 2.3
PS is there any time frame on a 2.3 compatible core upgrade?
it seems like blizzard caught on repair tool no longer at least for me will downgrade my WoW.exe

Ok I reapired WoW and im ready to download each patch BUT where the heck do I get them? And since everyone else is having a problem with it how would I stop the auto updater once I get through with the patch downloading?
I'd appreciate some help i've been looking for about 3 days on how to do this and the idiots on youtube (some of them) have no clue on how to do this and ive googled this and came up with nothing helpful either.
Hi WoWaddict. I recommend editing realmlist.wtf to pointing to on the second line 127.0.0.1 and patch files can be found at http://browse.files.filefront.com/World+of+Warcraft+Official+Patches/;1323958;/browsefiles.html I think although I can't check at the moment due to behind WebSense NAT Router.
Reaper, would this work for patches in between like for example:
2.3.2 to 2.3.0

Okay look I'm VERY computer illiterate. The wow.exe is in the World of Warcraft files in the Program Files folder right? Okay I click on that and all the WoW files cascade down and I cannot find any files named wow.exe. So where is it?? I'm sooo confused and it all started after the Fury of the Sunwell patch 2.4
I got the same problem as Keith, i cannot find the wow.exe document but I just changed some random wow launcher or something like that to wowow.exe and now i am running the repair to see if i did the right thing... i am playing on private server but it doesn't wanna run with patch 4.1 sadly!! hate auto installing..!!
Ok, i resinstalled and then went to updtes til hit v2.3.0 then i stoped it ad set the shortcut to wow.exeand that fixeditfor me
to stop the autoupdates upon login, just open realmlist.wtf (with notepad)and delete "set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com"

If got another problem, everything works fine, but when I patch to 2.3.x I just get an error saying ''Unable to validate game version", If heard this is from a wrong patch or something.. but can anyone link me the correct patches? from 2.0.0? EnUs version
hey reaper my problem is when i renamed the wow.exe and run repair.exe it checks but says it all is OK so it doesn't revert back the patch :S
heya, got somekinda prob like that aswell. i havn't played WoW for a damm long time, and now i'm in to a Private Server (PS). the PS only reads upon 2.3.3, and WoW auto installed 2.4.1 i'm runing the repair now, and i hope it will work :)

Reaper, I love and appreciate all the work you've put towards this and other things, tis awesome dude. The one question im sure i will ever have right now is similar to others regarding the "Patch Required" after logging in to the account.
Info so I get the question answered and problem resolved: Realmlist is set to just my ip address. The server is working and I have it succesfully installed and backed to 2.3.3
If i could learn where it learns that it needs a new patch or whatever to access my newly made server (thnx to you) that would be bad ass
Also I am running wow.exe from the installation directory so no mistake of the launcher interfering. its wow itself =(
stupid blizzard...
so all i can just turn off the auto patch downloader option and start downloading the patches one by one right?

ok, heres the deal. i do all you say, i click WoW.exe and theres the dark portal. type my username n pass, says all that crap (hand-shaking,connecting...) Then it gos to that knight elf place with the pond and shows the percentige and then says restart and trys to patch me.....
how do i fix???
