Nvidia plans DirectX 10 (DX10) Cards for AGP Slot

Nvidia LogoThe Inquirer reports that Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS, its AGP card, will get a new follower, cleverly codenamed G84 AGP. And this card will be a Direct X 10 chip aimed at AGP upgrade market, as you have not been able to buy new AGP systems for a while now.

It is an interesting choice as but shows the value of this legacy market. The card is scheduled for April and this means that AGP upgrade market will get a DirectX 10 after all.

Early Vista adopters have to be thrilled about it as it will give them a chance to keep their bellowed Nforce 2 motherboards and Athlon XP CPUs or simply good old Netburst Pentium 4 marchitecture.

The G84 is set to replace Geforce 7600 GS cards and these cards sell for around €100, which is not bad deal for an AGP card.

The AGP version is possible due to the fact that G84 chips are pin-to-pin compatible with Geforce 6600 and 7600, so there were no modifications required in order that AGP market gets its DirectX 10 card.

Although it is a good idea to create DirectX 10 Cards to those who still using AGP Graphic Cards, personally if Nvidia decided to release it, i prefer not to buy the AGP version. Simply because it is better for me to upgrade my computer completely and use the new PCI Express cards

agp dx10 really needed. Why should I change all my good working system just for pci-e slot ? agp still has good bandwitdh no big differences with present graphic cards in the market But maybe in future with real bandwitdh monster graphic cards appears in the market than It will be must to go for pci-e it is just money trap right now.. It is not logical just to change all system for pci-e or for CPU also same but producers wants you spend all your money on new computer every year is not it very funny… and money trap.. Microsoft also is doing same trick no dx10 for xp.. but atleast they let you use xp for along time get the money out of it.
