Using your domain on Google Hosted Account
By Reaper-X on Dec 3, 2006 in Google, Guide, Internet, Internet Tools, Tutorials
I didn’t know that Google Hosted Service already provided new feature such as start page for your Google Hosted account (you might need to enable the service first) and customize it to your liking, and now you can also use CName on your Google hosted mail account including calendar .. with the exception the there’s nothing changed at Google Hosted Chat feature …
And thanks to the CName feature, finally i can use my google hosted account without using redirection to the hosted address and just in case you didn’t know what you should change in order to activate the CName on your account, here’s the step :
- Go to dashboard and activate the customize url function of your Google Hosted Service (such as Email, Calendar and Start Page .. if you want a start page)
- Choose your desired name for your address (for example mail.your-domain.com)
- Open your registrar control panel or your WHM control panel (if you have access to WHM) or .. just ask your webhosting to do it for you if you only has CPanel access and use the following configuration :
- CName : mail
- Destination address : ghs.google.com.
- And do the above step to each CName record you want to use on your domain
Now you can access your Google hosted account using your domain name without using redirection on your webhosting account or url redirection on your registrar ;)
