Stumbleupon vs Digg vs Google
By Reaper-X on Nov 13, 2006 in Blogging, General Blogging, Google, Internet, SEO, Website
Most bloggers already know about digg, because they want their site got into digg frontpage because they want to get to get lots of traffic into their site, and i think you already knew that getting into digg frontpage is going to be hard especially i you are not creating something interesting.
Beside if your site get into digg frontpage, there’s a high chance your site will go down .. and your suspended page from your hosting provider will replace your site page or even better your hosting provider will provide alternate replacement for your site instead of using their suspended page .. of course this does not apply to vps or dedicated server. But do you think everyone have enough money to get a vps / dedicated server ?
Ooh yeah, i already know about Digg proof hosting known as Grid Server, and although the concept itself is quite good but it’s not stable yet as for now, based on various user experience in here, another one in here, again in here.
But what about Stumbleupon ? what makes it different than digg ? if it's for me i’d rather choose Stumbleupon the place where i submit my own article, and that’s not because i want to get a good traffic, but i just want to know how good my article / post to them.
Because if you’ve create something interesting for the Stumbleupon community, there’s a high chance you’ll get 1000 – 2000 new visitor on that day, but if you’re not creating something interesting, then just forget about it and don't even try to submit your article into Stumbleupon community.
I think most of you already knew, social bookmarking only last for few days, and that means there’s small chance those visitor will be coming back to your site in the future (maybe some of them will keep coming back to your site, but not all of them).
And now what about Google, Yahoo, MSN or other search engine ? i think this is the correct way to get traffic into your site. Because social bookmarking only gives you huge amount of traffic for small time and that’s only for one article, not for all article on your site. And that means Search Engine is the only way to get more traffic to your site, and depending on your perception about real visitor, i always think that traffic that comes from search engine is the real visitor for your site.
Why did i say that ? because most internet surfer only search for specific article (including me) and doesn't even care about other article on your site. Although returning visitor is good but how do they find your site ? they’re using search engine, right ? and that means search engine is the only way to get more visitor.
And the conclusion is, if you want to see how good your article is, instead of submitting those article to Digg. Try Stumbleupon first. But if you want to get constant visitors, just make sure your site is search engine friendly.
