How to use PCSX2 the Playstation 2 Emulator

Now im going to put some guide on how to configure PCSX2 to try out the PS2 Emulator. And since few people are asking is their system can play ps2, then the answer is no. You can’t actually play ps2 games on your pc right now (dunno for a real high end system which is using Dual Core Processor, SLI Graphics Card, etc, but to most users just wait for it), but if you want to help the PCSX2 team, you can do it by testing out PCSX2 and reporting any bugs you found to them.
First you must have PS2 Bios in order to try out the PCSX2 (you can find it easily on the internet) ;) and dont forget to put it into Bios Directory in your PCSX2 Directory
and the next step would be running the PCSX2 Executable and configure it like this (maybe different depending on your computer configuration, especially to those who are using SSE2 Enabled Processor, such as Pentium 4, Athlon64, etc)
1. Configuration Screen of PCSX2
2. Graphic Plugin Configuration Screen
3. Controller Configuration (since i dont own a joystick, im using Keyboard)
4. CDVD Plugin Configuration
Note: if you don’t have ASPI installed on your system use Win2k/XP IOCTL SCSI Command and set it into your DVD Rom Drive (if you’re not using ISO Image)
5. The next step would be putting your PS2 Games on your DVD ROM and choose to Run CD from File Menu … and pray hope it’ll work :P and in my case i was running Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi PAL Version
And that’s it … you’re finished ;)
Note: If you got an error message saying error opening gs plugin or something like that, most likely you’re trying to use ZeroGS Plugin and your vga card is not a Pixel Shader 2.0 Capable Card (ZeroGS require Pixel Shader 2.0 ++ Capable Card) .. and the only solution is using GSDX Plugin as the graphic plugin or get a new graphic card

Hey, if anyone has ROM2 and EROM for PSX2 could i get them at my email? Ive been online for the past 4 hours finding next to nothing, then i got most of what i need, but those 2 were missing.

Well maybe you should check your email address if you’re entering a correct email address ;)

Try running the pcsx2 under administrator account or account with administrator priviledge or try running the pcsx2t.exe (TLB Version)

man.. i’m trying to get my Pcsx2 to work but it ain’t working man
so like, i put up ran the executable, like the non water thing or w/e.. and like i keep getting a message saying,
Pcsx2 needs to allocate physical memory in order to execute faster. Enter the windows username you wish this privilege to be enabled for.
User Name: (insert text in a box)
i think its the user name that i use to get on windows.. but like i put that on, and it dun work… and if i put it in right it says…
Failed adding SE_LOCK_MEMORY privilege, please check the local policy. Go to security settings ->Local Policies->User Rights. THere should be a “Lock pages in memory”. Add your user to that and log off/on. This enables pcsx2 to run at real-time by allocating physical memory. Also you can try Control Panel->Local security Policy->… (this does not work on Windows XP Home) (zerofrog)
there is no security settings and shit… and like even if there wuz… where the hell it at? danm…
oh and i found some bios but like i dunno if they are the right one… can you send me one 2?

anyway here’s the answers :
1. Do you mean ? your DVD Rom drive ? if that’s the case set the CDVD Plugins to use your DVD Rom drive (in picture #1)
2. Yes, you can create ISO of your DVD Game by using CloneCD, Alcohol, Nero,etc (the recommended tools are CloneCD and Alcohol)
3. Hm.. i dont have that games in my playstation 2 so i don’t know about that beside i only own Japan and US Bios
4. I dont understand what do you mean by XBox controller ??

If you don’t have enough physical memory / RAM .. the only way to run pcsx2 is by running the TLB version called pcsx2t.exe located at the pcsx2 directory

btw if i wan’t to use the PCSX2 i have to use PCSX2 TLB instead of normal PCSX2 because the program can’t find my name. I have to set in memory… Can you tell me where i do this because i don’t understand the explanation.
P.S. i am Dutch so the English can be a little uhm………… weird.

there are two methods to use Iso’s on PCSX2 … :
1. Use a Virtual CD Software like Daemon Tools (freeware for personal use) or other virtual cd software ;) and configure pcsx2 cd drive to use the virtual drive
2. Configure pcsx2 cdvd plugins to use any *iso* plugins name
that’s all ;)

i have a note for all …… i to am looking for ps2 emulator that works, but i regret to inform you that the obtaining and providing of ps2 bios are extreamly illegla so if you have them like some ppl i know….(of corse not me ……:P) do not post a place and send them there or send them out to ppl thankyou have a great day
