How to use PCSX2 the Playstation 2 Emulator

Now im going to put some guide on how to configure PCSX2 to try out the PS2 Emulator. And since few people are asking is their system can play ps2, then the answer is no. You can’t actually play ps2 games on your pc right now (dunno for a real high end system which is using Dual Core Processor, SLI Graphics Card, etc, but to most users just wait for it), but if you want to help the PCSX2 team, you can do it by testing out PCSX2 and reporting any bugs you found to them.
First you must have PS2 Bios in order to try out the PCSX2 (you can find it easily on the internet) ;) and dont forget to put it into Bios Directory in your PCSX2 Directory
and the next step would be running the PCSX2 Executable and configure it like this (maybe different depending on your computer configuration, especially to those who are using SSE2 Enabled Processor, such as Pentium 4, Athlon64, etc)
1. Configuration Screen of PCSX2
2. Graphic Plugin Configuration Screen
3. Controller Configuration (since i dont own a joystick, im using Keyboard)
4. CDVD Plugin Configuration
Note: if you don’t have ASPI installed on your system use Win2k/XP IOCTL SCSI Command and set it into your DVD Rom Drive (if you’re not using ISO Image)
5. The next step would be putting your PS2 Games on your DVD ROM and choose to Run CD from File Menu … and pray hope it’ll work :P and in my case i was running Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi PAL Version
And that’s it … you’re finished ;)
Note: If you got an error message saying error opening gs plugin or something like that, most likely you’re trying to use ZeroGS Plugin and your vga card is not a Pixel Shader 2.0 Capable Card (ZeroGS require Pixel Shader 2.0 ++ Capable Card) .. and the only solution is using GSDX Plugin as the graphic plugin or get a new graphic card

hi, cn anyone teach me how to use isos on ps2? iv got the roms the bios and emulator bt cnt start the iso
there are two methods to use Iso's on PCSX2 ... :
1. Use a Virtual CD Software like Daemon Tools (freeware for personal use) or other virtual cd software ;) and configure pcsx2 cd drive to use the virtual drive
2. Configure pcsx2 cdvd plugins to use any *iso* plugins name
that's all ;)

btw if i wan't to use the PCSX2 i have to use PCSX2 TLB instead of normal PCSX2 because the program can't find my name. I have to set in memory... Can you tell me where i do this because i don't understand the explanation.

If you don't have enough physical memory / RAM .. the only way to run pcsx2 is by running the TLB version called pcsx2t.exe located at the pcsx2 directory

anyway here's the answers :
1. Do you mean ? your DVD Rom drive ? if that's the case set the CDVD Plugins to use your DVD Rom drive (in picture #1)
2. Yes, you can create ISO of your DVD Game by using CloneCD, Alcohol, Nero,etc (the recommended tools are CloneCD and Alcohol)
3. Hm.. i dont have that games in my playstation 2 so i don't know about that beside i only own Japan and US Bios
4. I dont understand what do you mean by XBox controller ??

man.. i'm trying to get my Pcsx2 to work but it ain't working man
so like, i put up ran the executable, like the non water thing or w/e.. and like i keep getting a message saying,
Pcsx2 needs to allocate physical memory in order to execute faster. Enter the windows username you wish this privilege to be enabled for.

i think its the user name that i use to get on windows.. but like i put that on, and it dun work... and if i put it in right it says...
Failed adding SE_LOCK_MEMORY privilege, please check the local policy. Go to security settings ->Local Policies->User Rights. THere should be a "Lock pages in memory". Add your user to that and log off/on. This enables pcsx2 to run at real-time by allocating physical memory. Also you can try Control Panel->Local security Policy->... (this does not work on Windows XP Home) (zerofrog)

Try running the pcsx2 under administrator account or account with administrator priviledge or try running the pcsx2t.exe (TLB Version)

never mind about my last comment. i figured it out. but what i can't figured out is when i put in contra shattered soldier it's running but it doesn't show up on my screen. could it be because im running it on a 1.3 gig speed
Other than fast processor speed (above 2GHz) you'll need to have a really good graphic card and support Pixel Shader 2.0

Just like crazy gamer said, you can find alot of iso using google or another search engine, but one thing for sure .. you can find it easily in various torrent site ;)

actually its depend on the bios file you're using ... some require the present of rom2.bin and some doesnt require it :)

Hey Reaper-X I have alot of torrents but I dont know how to use it...If somebody can tell me a site where I can find DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi iso(without torrents)...That's for anybody who search a PCSX2 bios (especially SpIder,an romanian "brother",I think)...TRY BEARSHARE, TYPE PS2 BIOS SELECT THE TYPE OF PCSX2 EMULATOR AND YOU GOT IT.
Dunno where to get tenkaichi but maybe try searching around torrents link and you can find one if you're lucky .. btw if you could be specific about the torrent problem maybe i can help you ;)

well i have the cd (dvd) actually :D beside like i said before, i was using unlimited internet connection which is only 2GB / month .. so i never download/upload any iso, movie (except small movie) ... beside if you were from my country, you can buy the ps2 dvd for really cheap price (you're not gonna believe it if i tell you the actual price) .. lol .. but one thing for sure 10 years old boy can buy a ps2 cd / dvd with his own money in my country :D

i dont think there's a place to download extremely big files other than torrents or p2p so the only way to download iso is using torrent (which is the best) :P
btw have you set the port forwarding correctly? because if its not done properly you can only download torrents file at low speed

Well it's gonna be real hard when trying to use Keyboard to play DBZ beside i was playing this game using my ps2 console and of course that means im using Joystick. :P

you can always use a Converter to connect your ps2 / gaming console joystick into your Computer (mostly its a USB port)

well .. just as i said before that this emulator is still in progress and not all games works fine as it should .. beside ... you'll really need an extremely powerfull pc and using a graphic card with minimum of pixelshader 2.0

One note: e-mail message can't be more than 10 Mb, may be you can compress it to volumed archive (splitted), something around 6-7Mb per file and send it as one file - one message.

i got the bios "SCPH1001.BIN" and i put that in the bios folder and set the bios directory in the cofig_
but it still says cannot load bios .".c:\XXX\XXx\pcsx2" wat u think is da problem?
Hm ... more likely it caused by misconfiguration or incorrect bios file, because by only putting the bios file in the bios directory (for example c:\pcsx2\bios\SCPH1001.bin} without editing the bios path, pcsx2 will be able to detect that automatically

Well torrent is the number one source for a really big material such as ps2 isos :D .. just search for a torrent site and you'll come up with a big list of ps2 isos ;)

Sorry dont have those bios version, but if you want to create ISO easily (and if you're using original PS2 CD/DVD) ... your best bet is by using Alcohol 120 .. unfortunately its not free

Well there's no need to configure / set bios directory as long as you put it in bios directory under your pcsx2 directory .. for example C:\pcsx2\bios\

If you need to choose a specific path as a directory, you can do it easily by changing the bios directory under the configuration page .. btw did you already extract the bios files before putting it into the bios directory of pcsx2 ?

I've got the bios, quite a few of them actually, and all that good stuff... I've got a problem with my graphics configuration, though.
I've got the plugins that come with PCSX2, the GSdx9 and ZeroGS. However, when I try loading up my ISO, it always has a problem about the graphics configuration...
Somtimes it is about the Pixel Shader for GSdx9, which I can't do anything about, since there's no dropdown box for me to change that with. For ZeroGS, it just says "GS not working" or something.
I tried an older version of GSdx9, and I got the Pixel Shader to go to 2... but then whenever I tried loading the game, it said something about an error in reading a symbol.

Well that's easy just put the .bin file into bios directory of pcsx2 and configure it

If you're not using a pixel shader 2 capable video card / direct x 9 compatible vga card and you're trying to use ZeroGS plugin, you'll get an error message. so try using GSDX9 plugin instead of ZeroGS and don't forget to configure it
and don't forget that GSDX has 2 version, the first is for SSE2 capable processor (intel pentium 4, sempron and athlon 64) and the other is non SSE2 capable processor (pentium 3, athlon xp series) .. so try using only one of the GSDX version
I have a question ....Reaper-X when you play Tenkaichi it run fast because I fix Budokai 1 and when I'm ready to battle it works veeery slow and that's booooooring
