PCSX2 the real Playstation 2 Emulator

PCSX2 is a PlayStation 2 emulator for Windows and Linux, started by the same team that brought you PCSX (a Sony PlayStation 1 emulator)
The PCSX2 project attempts to allow PS2 code to be executed on your computer, thus meaning you can put a PS2 DVD or CD into your computers drive, and boot it up!
The project has been running for a little over four years now, and since it’s initial release has grown in compatibility. From initially just being able to run a few public domain demos, it’s current state enables many games to boot and actually go in game, such as the ‘famous’ Final Fantasy X or Devil May Cry 3.
Since i’ve been getting some visitors who’s searching for a freeware PS2 emulator, i’m going to post the one and only REAL PS2 Emulator that’s under heavy development and available on the internet as freeware / open source unlike others which is fake (trojan, worms, spyware, adware, etc). And this emulator name is PCSX2.
This open source project at first can only play homebrew / homemade games not a commercial games but now most of commercial games like Final Fantasy, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi, etc can be played on this emulator, although you’ll need a really POWERFULL Machine (computer) to play games in desirable frame rate.
Btw with my current computer setup, i wasnt able to play ps2 games at desirable frame rate / at very low frame rate, and my computer setup is like this :
- Athlon XP (Barton) 2600+ Processor
- ASUS V8460 Ultra Deluxe – Nvidia GeForce 4 TI 4600
- 1 GB PC3200 DDR – 2 x 512 MB (Dual DDR Activated)
That’s the most important part of your computer if you want a desirable frame rate (30++ FPS) to play ps2 games normally
But to play a ps2 games you’ll need to have a PS2 BIOS first, just search for it. But remember its illegal to download a ps2 bios if you don’t own a real ps2 :P … and if you need some help on how to configure pcsx2, you can read my posts on how to use pcsx2 the playstation 2 emulator

What is your current pcsx2 configuration ? and have you tried using the non SSE2 plugin because your current processor doesnt support SSE2 intruction :-)
Plz help i have a problem with pcsx2 i start it up and i press run cd and when it tries to start the game emulator shuts down and it works in file called pcsx2t but when i press run cd/dvd there the screen is blank If u know how to help plz MY COMPUTER

for example, if you’re interested on buying a new ps3 from a retail store / game store here, it’ll cost you for about $ 1.263 US .. lol …
As for about computer well although i prefer software rather than hardware but i know some of it :D (unless you’re talking about expensive computer parts) … hehehe
Yeah you can say that hehe people are rich in this country, things are cooming very fast too. But am not Nowegian, am from Bosnia, and i came herre to gett rich hehe, my country is not that rich not at all. What about you , about Indeonesia how is situation there??
Am going to upgrade my computer on to dual-core thats my hobby to upgrade, i love that, soo you know much about a computers and everything how can you all this ????

btw if you want to play dragonball series on pcsx2 then i think i’d be best for you to wait into the next pcsx2 release ;) .. because only some games are fully playable at the moment (and of course that is using a really high end computer) :)
I dont need play station 2 i already have play station 3. My play station 2 is resold. I just want to play some games not all, on play station 2.
hm .. about the pcsx2 requirement, probably you’ll need a high class gpu, dual core preferable, and high amount of ram .. but it’d be best for you to get a real ps2 console because its going to be a lot cheaper (if you’re thinking of getting a new peripheral for your computer dedicated to pcsx2) :)
okey reaper x i wait for real pcsx2 simulator but i takes time. But what if my cpu is not good enough. Maybe the dual-core is recommanded for pcsx2, Play Station 2 is strong machine. And i dont know what is system requirements for pcsx2???

[ A ] There’s various video editing program, but basically all you have to do is just record your pcsx2 game into avi format and adjust the framerate so it looks like the pcsx2 can play your game normally

[ A ] Look at his youtube video carefully especially the FPS at the top left .. and you’ll see that actually he run budokai below 20FPS and your fps are much better than him

you can press CTRL+R or choose Video -> Frame Rate at the toolbar .. and enter your desired video frame rate .. that’s it :)
i downloaded it that Virtual Dub but i still dont know how to fix it, should i run a sample avi video or ???
Well .. from ZeroGS Graphics plugin there’s a record to AVI option and you can use it to record everything :)
and for the next step, just download various video editing program, such as Virtual Dub .. and increase the frame rate of the video file .. and you’re done :D
but it was a fake framerate, the actual in game frame rate is still below average .. and that’s why he said that media files are faster than pcsx2 framerate :)
okey i think i found my problem i have only one question how to record to get better fps and what should i use to record ??????

hahaha .. lol … try looking at the FPS / Framerate at the top left side very carefully and you’ll find the answer easily ;)

Hm .. that’s strange .. btw do you have Antialiasing enabled on the Graphics plugin ? if its enabled try disabling it to improve performance
look herre this guy is playing dragonballz budokai 3 and his spec is: 3 GHZ Northwood | 6600GT | 1 GB RAM, and what means ,o yes the media faster than the emulator

there you vil be able to run pcsx2 fine and just download the newest verison of pcsx2 0.9.2 http://www.pcsx2.net and use ZeroGS graphics plugin 0.96.0 its the fastest graphics plugin.
i have pcsx2 0.9.2 i play dragonball z budokai 2 and 3 herre is my pc spec: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.2GHz, 1024MB RAM, PowerColor Radeon X850XT 256MB,GDDR3,256bit but when i run pcsx2 thats ok FPS is fine above 120FPS, but when i run game menu fps i a little lower 50fps or something, when i play game the fps is only 20. And i have tryed everything all plugins all pixel tryed nothing helps to gett better fps, so do anyone has a simple 64bit processor tell me if some games can be able to run. The only problem could be my cpu. Does anyone know what spec i need. I think to run pcsx2 you should have AMD Dual-Core . That is only problem.

I havent tried budokai 2 because i dont have it, as for patch try checking the pcsx2 forum just in case they’ve released the patch for it

I Have installed Pcsx2 on my computer and I have also found the Bios. Actually I am trying to made the game DBZ budokai 2 playable with my config but I can’t. This is my config:
CPU : P4 2.8 Mhz HT, Ram: 2Go, Graphic card: AGP Nvidia Geforce 7800GS
Do you know if it is possible with some patches and an appropriate configuration of Pcx2 make this game full playable ?

I reade it and i configure my system. I use cpu conf and:
CPU vendor GenuineIntel
Family Willamette Intel Pentium IV
CPU Speed !702MHZ
Features MMX,SSe,SSE2
If i run dvd i see: Movie (Sony Entertatment etc. and “browse”.) Plz write me config to play on my PC in for example DBZ:Tenkaichi
if you’re able to play the game then that means you’ve extracted the bios from the compressed 7zip archive .. but if its slow then the only thing you should do is check the pcsx2 compatibility page .. and of course that’s depend on your computer hardware (you must using a high end computer) … and in this case, your processor .. and your graphic card
what do you mean extract the bios how do you do this etc also now that i have the game in it goes reallybad and slow etc
try checking the pcsx2 compatibility list page first, and did you extract the bios first ? (some people just put it directly without extracting it first)
it says i need patchs
it says it has encountered a problem and needs to close
when i show it where the bios are it tries to do something but then comes up with an error and says it needs to close
it keeps saying unable to load bios
